    Opis:
    In this article, a simple design of rectangular microstrip feed planar antenna with wide arcs and square shape slot is proposed for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID),Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and C/X-band wireless communications. The prototype of the antenna has been fabricated 1.0 mm thick ceramic filled bioplastic substrate by using optimal dimension obtained from design/simulations and antenna performances are experimentally tested. The experimental results confirm the impedance bandwidths for S11 ≤ −10 dB are of 712 MHz (0.355-1.067 GHz), 1.38 GHz (2.92-4.3 GHz) and 2.46 GHz (6.55-9.01 GHz) for 0.788, 3.34 and 8.01 GHz band respectively. The proposed antenna shows almost steady and symmetrical radiation patterns for all three bands with the maximum gains of 1.37, 2.8 and 3.56 dBi respectively. Based on the antenna performances, it can successfully cover the frequency band requirement for RFID, WiMAX and C/X-band applications.

    We construct two examples of infinite spaces X such that there is no continuous linear surjection from the space of continuous functions $c_p(X)$ onto $c_p(X)$ × ℝ$. In particular, $c_p(X)$ is not linearly homeomorphic to $c_p(X)$ × ℝ$. One of these examples is compact. This answers some questions of Arkhangel'skiĭ.

    Our paper demonstrates the ability of Favre-averaged Navier–Stokes (FANS) turbulence models to predict the laminar-turbulent transition and shows the influence of the models on the wall temperature distribution. The investigations were based on conjugate heat transfer analyses of a convectively cooled C3X turbine vane, which were performed using commercial flow simulation software. We compared several eddy-viscosity models: shear stress transport (SST), γ-Reθ SSTtransition, v2-f, k-ε, realizable, k-kl-ω transition, and second-order closure ε-based Reynolds stress model (RSM) with a linear pressure-strain model. The turbulence length scale (TLS) was not measured during the experiment, so its influence on the location of the transition onset and wall temperature distribution is presented. We also examined the influence of the roughness of the airfoil wall on the location of turbulence initialization and the wall temperature distribution.

    In the present work we investigated the ability of vitamin C to modulate clastogenic effects induced in cultured human lymphocytes by X-irradiation delivered at either high (1 Gy/min) or low dose rate (0.24 Gy/min). Biological effects of the irradiation were estimated by cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay including the analysis of the frequency of micronuclei (MN) and apoptotic cells as well as calculation of nuclear division index (NDI). The numbers of micronucleated binucleate lymphocytes (MNCBL) were 24.85 š 2.67% and 32.56 š 3.17% in cultures exposed to X-rays (2 Gy) delivered at low and high dose rates, respectively. Addition of vitamin C (1-20 mi g/ml) to the medium of cultures irradiated with the low dose rate reduced the frequency of micronucleated lymphocytes with multiple MN in a concentration-dependent manner. Lymphocytes exposed to the high dose rate radiation showed a U-shape response: low concentration of vitamin C significantly reduced the number of MN, whereas high concentration influenced the radiation-induced total number of micronucleated cells insignificantly, although it increased the number of cells with multiple MN. Addition of vitamin C significantly reduced the fraction of apoptotic cells, irrespective of the X-ray dose rate. These results indicate that radiation dose rate is an important exposure factor, not only in terms of biological cell response to irradiation, but also with respect to the modulating effects of antioxidants.

    In industrial manufacturing, wireless network can be used in supply chain, retail stock management, electronic security keys, and theft prevention. A proactive and cost effective solution advancement is needed in the industrial manufacturing to monitor and control output performance at a manufacturing plant. It is with this reason that the manufacturers require an efficient communication and real time feedback to maximize uptime and improve productivity. Consistent with the future market of new technologies deployment this invention proposes a new complete solution method and architecture of embedded active radio frequency identification with counter system through wireless mesh sensor network platform and smart data processing adopted through web-based monitoring system for industrial automation. The ability of the developed system to function in machine-to-machine wireless communication and the adoption of web-based monitoring and data centralization contributes improvement in reducing errors with human intervention. In this paper we discuss the framework approach of a smart web-based monitoring and data acquisition system on wireless mesh sensor network platform. The evaluations and measurements have been conducted in real world environments which are conducted at selected industrial production factory.

    Increasing demands on an extensive amount of digital data and information flows for C4I is forcing the modern armies to freeze and omit EUROCOM based tactical area communications system and to develop new concepts based on the adoption of modern communication systems such as ISDN, ATM described in the TACOMS Post 2000 Final Report II in NATO. ASELSAN, as a leading company in the military electronics arena, is following and participating all the activities of TACOMS Post 2000 together with Turkish Ministry of Defense. Turkey's tactical area communications system TASMUS is a mature and fielded system, which will satisfy future communication needs of the 21st century C4I systems. In this paper, we describe the basic features and user services of TASMUS. With the support of simultaneous voice and data capabilities, TASMUS aims to form mobile, survivable, flexible and secure network to support all the present and future communication requirements of the tactical commanders. Using the near real time data communications feature, TASMUS is also significant for the network-centric warfare applications such as tactical sensor and weapon systems, besides the communication needs of the Turkish Army.

    W pracy opisano algorytm k-średnich oraz sposób jego implementacji w języku X10. Dokonano porównania tego rozwiązania z implementacją w języku C++11 z wykorzystaniem standardu MPI. Stwierdzono, że implementacja w języku X10 jest szybsza przy większej liczbie procesorów realizujących obliczenia niż implementacja w środowisku C++/MPI. Kod zapisany w języku X10 jest o 59% krótszy od kodu dla kombinacji C++/MPI.
    In this work the k-means algorithm and the way of its implementation in the X10 programming language are described. The achieved results are compared with the implementation of the same algorithm in the C++11 programming language using the MPI standard. It was confirmed that the implementation in the X10 programming language is faster on a large number of processors than the implementation in the C++/MPI environment. Additionally, the X10 code is about 59% shorter than the code for the C++/MPI combination.

    Opis:
    A compact planar multiband antenna operating at 3.1 (S-band) /4.7/6.4/7.6 (C-band) /8.9/10.4/11.8 GHz (X-band) is presented. The proposed Microstrip Patch Antenna (MSPA) consists of a rectangular radiator in which an E-shaped slot is etched out and a microstrip feed line. The E-shaped slot modifies the total current path thereby making the antenna to operate at seven useful bands. No external impedance matching circuit is used and the impedance matching at these bands are solely achieved by using a rectangular microstrip feed line of length 10mm (L6) and width 2mm (W10). The antenna has a compact dimension of and exhibits S11<-10dB bandwidth of about 6.45% (3.2-3.0GHz), 8.5% (4.9-4.5GHz), 7.6% (6.7-6.2GHz), 3.9% (7.8-7.5GHz), 5.7% (9.1-8.6GHz), 1.2% (10.44-10.35GHz) and 2.2% (11.87-11.62GHz). The simulation analysis of the antenna is carried out by using HFSS v.13.0.

    We discuss the influence of an external magnetic field on the exciton energy and the exciton oscillator strength in the shallow quantum wells. We include into consideration the Coulomb attraction between electron and hole, which is rarely taken into account. We self-consistently solve the Schrödinger equation to compare the obtained results with the experimental values.

    W latach 912-927 Mikołaj Mistyk, patriarcha Konstantynopola prowadził korespondencję z Symeonem, władca Bułgarii. Jej celem było nakłonienie Symeona do zakończenia działań wojennych i zawarcia pokoju z Bizancjum. By ten cel osiągnąć Mikołaj Mistyk imał się różnych metod i sięgał po różnorodne argumenty. Odwoływanie się patriarchy do umiaru i roztropności było jednym z środków wpłynięcia na  Symeona, by ten zaniechał działań militarnych, a podjął takie, które doprowadziłyby do zawarcia pokoju. Dla Mikołaja Mistyka podstawowym kryterium uznania Symeona za człowieka kierującego się w swoim życiu m.in. cnotami umiarkowania i roztropności było to, czy jego działania w sferze politycznej były zgodne z bizantyńskimi interesami.
    Between 912–927, Nicholas Mystikos, Patriarch of Constantinople maintained a correspondence with Simeon, ruler of Bulgaria. The goal of Nicholas’ correspondence was to persuade Simeon to end hostilities and make peace with Byzantium. For this purpose, he employed various methods and resorted to a variety of arguments. Appeals to temperance and prudence were clearly means of influencing Simeon to abandon military action and take steps that would bring peace. It seems that for Nicholas Mystikos, the primary criterion for recognizing Simeon as a temperate and prudent man were his actions in the political sphere and whether they were aligned with Byzantine interests.

    Thermodynamic description of the Fe-B-C system in its iron-rich corner is developed in the context of a new Fe-B-X (X = Cr, Ni, Mn, Si, Ti, V, C) database. The thermodynamic parameters of the binary sub-systems, Fe-B, Fe-C and B-C, are taken from earlier assessments modifying the B-C description. The parameters of the Fe-B-C system are optimized in this study using experimental thermodynamic and phase equilibrium data from the literature. Liquid, beta-rhombo-B and graphite phases are described using the substitutional solution model, while the ferrite (bcc), the austenite (fcc), the cementite (M3C) and the M23C6 phases are described with the sublattice model and the borides, Fe2B, FeB and B4C, are treated as stoichiometric phases. A good correlation was obtained between the calculated and the experimental thermodynamic and phase equilibrium data. The description is recommended to be used at the composition region of wt% C + wt% B < 15 and at temperatures below 2700°C.

    Magnetic microstructure of iron contained in selected biological tissues is characterized and mutually compared. We have studied three types of biological samples prepared from human brain, human and horse spleen. Original samples were lyophilized (dried in a vacuum) thus providing powder forms. As a principal method of study, ⁵⁷Fe Mössbauer spectrometry in transmission mode was used. The Mössbauer spectrometry experiments were performed at room ( ≈300 K) and at liquid helium (4.2 K) temperature. At room temperature Mössbauer spectra show doublet-like features. Such behaviour indicates possible presence of nanoparticles with fluctuating magnetic moments that acquire arbitrary positions. On the other hand, low temperature Mössbauer spectrometry measurements demonstrate significant contribution of sextets that confirmed occurrence of blocked magnetic moments of iron-containing particles. Different relative contributions of magnetic components in the low temperature spectra for the three inspected biological tissues suggest differences in the blocking temperatures of the magnetic nanoparticles present in them.

    Opis:
    W pracy przedstawiono badania odpowiednie do wytworzenia głównego składnika cementu portlandzkiego − krzemianu trójwapnia. Przeprowadzone badania obejmowały ujednorodnienie zestawu, ocenę stałości jego składu z wykorzystaniem rentgenowskiej analizy fazowej w połączeniu z metodą Rietvelda oraz wyniki XRD wytworzonego spieku. Zaprezentowane wyniki potwierdzają adekwatność przyjętych metod badawczych do wytworzenia jednorodnego spieku zawierającego alit (krzemian trójwapnia).
    The paper presents tests suitable for the production of the main component of Portland cement - tricalcium silicate. The tests carried out included homogenization of the batch of raw material sets, assessment of the constancy of its composition with the use of X-ray phase analysis in conjunction with the analysis of the results using the Rietveld method, and the XRD results of the sinter produced. The presented results confirm the adequacy of the adopted research methods for the production of a homogeneous sintered alite (tricalcium silicate).

    Suitable simulation approaches for the preliminary investigation of the electromagnetic metal forming process are presented. For this purpose an uncoupled (loose-coupled) simulation model is compared to a more rigorous sequential-coupled approach. As shown by examples, the connection between electromagnetic field and spatiotemporal evolution of the deformation of the workpiece cannot always be neglected to describe the electromagnetic forming process with adequate accuracy.

    In plastics moulding industry a lot of parts sustain in relative movement: ejectors, slides, dies, etc. Some seizing or micro-welding may appear, especially when lubrication is not used. In this paper, PVD coatings have been obtained thanks to hybrid Cathodic Arc Evaporation system. Several properties of the coatings have been investigated such as chemical composition, microstructure, friction coefficient at ambient and high temperature conditions, nanohardness and their modulus of elasticity.

    Garlic virus A (GarV-A), Garlic virus B (GarV-B), Garlic virus C (GarV-C) and Garlic virus X (GarV-X) are members of the genus Allexivirus in the family Alphaflexiviridae. In this study, we collected 10, 30, 10 and 14 isolates of GarV-A, GarV-B, GarV-C and GarV-X, respectively, from different parts of Poland. All sequences of coat protein (CP) and nucleic-acid binding protein (NABP) regions of Allexivirus isolates available in GenBank were also included in this study. The nucleotide and amino acid sequences identities within each population differed substantially depending on the region of the genome and virus species. The results of selection pressure analysis showed that populations of each Allexivirus underwent negative selection, but the extent of the negative selection varied. It was also concluded that the GarV-A and GarV-C populations underwent a decrease in population size or balancing selection, while the GarV-B and GarV-X populations underwent an increase in population size. It was concluded that both populations of GarV-X evolved independently in each respective area, in contrast to populations of GarV-A, GarV-B and GarV-C.

    Miskant olbrzymi (Miscanthus x giganteus) z powodu jego fizjologicznej adaptacji do ścieżki fotosyntezy C4 jest uważany za istotny gatunek upraw na cele energetyczne. Dostępność wody silnie wpływa na jego plony, a wysoki plon biomasy z jednostki powierzchni jest związany z miejscami, w których opady wynoszą co najmniej 762 mm rocznie. Celem pracy było wyznaczenie wskaźników teledetekcyjnych obrazujących zawartość wody w uprawach miskanta olbrzymiego za pomocą zobrazowań satelitarnych Sentinel 2 oraz określenie korelacji tych wskaźników z najpowszechniejszym wskaźnikiem teledetekcyjnym biomasy NDVI oraz z warunkami pogodowymi na wybranym terenie w latach 2016-2018. Analiza zależności warunków pogodowych i wartości teledetekcyjnych wskaźników wodnych w badanych uprawach wykazała dość silną ko-relację (ok +0,80) pomiędzy wskaźnikami wodnymi (m.in. NDWI, MSI, NDII, Water Index) a opadami oraz umiarkowaną ujemną korelację (ok -0,40) z temperaturą.
    Miscanthus x giganteus due to its physiological adaptation to the C4 photosynthesis pathway is considered as an important species of the crop for energy purposes. The availability of water strongly affects its yield, and the high biomass yield per unit area is associated with places where rainfall is at least 762 mm per year. The work aimed to determine re-mote sensing indicators showing the water content in Miscanthus x giganteus cultivars using Sentinel 2 satellite imagery and to determine the correlation of these indicators with the most common remote-sensing NDVI biomass and weather conditions in a selected area in 2016-2018. Analysis of the relationship between weather conditions and remote sensing values of water indicators in the studied crops showed quite strong correlation (about +0.80) between water indicators (including NDWI, MSI, NDII, Water Index) and precipitation and moderate negative correlation (about -0.40) with tem-perature.

    Opis:
    According to a common belief, women’s participation in the political life during the Middle Ages was miserable. However, the most ambitious individuals managed to gain prestigious positions in the state and to influence those who were in power. A considerable number of remarkable women appeared as early as the very beginning of Czech history. Even the founding of the state of Bohemia is to some extent attributed to the legendary Lubossa. Also, at the beginning of the 10th century, two women played important roles in the historical events. When Duke Vratislaus died in 921, his mother Ludmila and his wife Drahomira became seriously conflicted with each other. The ambitious women fought for regency on behalf of juvenile Vaclav. They could not agree on how to educate or bring the boy up. Political and religious differences between the two were also of substantial importance and the end turned out to be tragic – Drahomira had her mother-in-law strangled and it was her who eventually got the upper hand. The situation implies that in the struggle for power women can be as ruthless as men and the death of the duchess was the first act of the fight for the throne that took place at the beginning of the 10th century.
    Według powszechnego przekonania w okresie średniowiecza kobiety miały niewielki udział w życiu politycznym. Ambitniejszym jednostkom udawało się jednak zdobyć wysoką pozycję w państwie i mieć znaczący wpływ na rządy. Wczesne dzieje Czech obfitują w postacie niepospolitych kobiet. Legendarnej Libuszy przypisuje się znaczący udział w powstaniu państwa czeskiego. Także na początku X wieku dwie kobiety odegrały ważną rolę w wydarzeniach dziejowych. Po śmierci księcia Wratysława (†921) doszło do konfliktu pomiędzy jego matką Ludmiłą a żoną Drahomirą. Ambitne kobiety zabiegały o regencję w imieniu małoletniego Wacława. Spór dotyczył jego wychowania, kwestii religijnych i politycznych. Zakończył się dramatycznie – uduszeniem starszej z kobiet na polecenie synowej i przejęciem przez nią rządów. Sytuacja ta wskazuje, że kobiety w walce o władzę potrafiły być równie bezwzględne jak mężczyźni, a śmierć księżnej stała się pierwszym aktem czeskiej gry o tron, jaka rozegrała się w początkach X wieku.
