The objective of this research and development is to create a description of the operational model of character education and to determine the effectiveness of a character education model in enhancing students’ academic independence. There are some results of this research. First, the description of the prototype model of character education to enhance students’ academic independence consists of five parts, namely rationalization of character education model; supporting theories of character education model; components of character education model; instructions for using character education model; and development of character education model. Second, the operational model of character education is supported by development tools and developed at five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Third, the character education model is effective to enhance students’ academic independence in Islamic Boarding School, Sinjai.

Jesuit boarding schools did not fulfil only social roles. They were educational institutions shaping discipline, morality and religiousness of their pupils. The monks organized various activities for their students which were conducive for acquiring and consolidating knowledge. Students’ time was filled with the review of school material, literary exercises, debates or production of theatre performances. The offer depended on the degree of exclusivity of a given establishment. In the Second Republic of Poland, there functioned three Jesuit schools for laymen: in Khyriv (Pol. Chyrów), Vilnius and Gdynia. Only the first two ran boarding schools. Both boarding schools offered very good living conditions, and the life of the alumni passed according to a similar, clearly defined day rhythm. The institutions in busy urban Vilnius and peripheral Khyriv were very much different. The educational process used for the boarding students from Vilnius lacked special rigours, which was different from the methods generally accepted at that time. The behaviours of boarding students from Khyriv, in turn, were regulated in the minutest detail by Statutes and regulations and the system of punishments was very elaborate. The schools tried to restore order by the method of overcoming the resistance of the more independently feeling and thinking pupils.

Opis:
The present paper is devoted to the names of seaside boardinghouses. Research materials include the names of seaside boardinghouses from Russian and Polish cities: Anapa, Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. The names have been discussed in three groups: names transferred from common and proper nouns, neologisms and foreign-language names. The analysis has shown both words and phrases with a predominance of words. The research has also taken into consideration advertising and information functions of discussed names.
Przedmiotem artykułu są nazwy pensjonatów nadmorskich kurortów Rosji i Polski. Materiał badawczy pochodzi ze stron Internetowych ośrodków wypoczynkowych miast Anapa, Gdańsk, Gdynia i Sopot. Nazwy hoteli rozpatrywane są w trzech grupach: nazwy przeniesione, nazwy nieprzeniesione, czyli neologizmy nazewnicze oraz nazwy obce. W artykule zwrócono też uwagę na funkcje imion domów wczasowych: reklamową i informacyjną.

Systemy deskowań stosowane w ramach technologii budownictwa monolitycznego muszą spełniać szereg wymagań. Powinny być dostosowane do obowiązujących modułów projektowych, pozwalać na formowanie różnych elementów konstrukcyjnych oraz zapewniać równą i gładką powierzchnię betonu po rozformowaniu. Z kolei rusztowania, choć jest to sprzęt pomocniczy, to jednak bardzo ważny, a w zasadzie niezbędny zarówno przy realizacji nowych budynków, jak i przy ich renowacji.
Formwork systems used as part of monolithic building technology must meet a number of requirements. They should be adapted to applicable design modules, allow for the formation of various structural components and provide an even and smooth concrete surface after dismantling. On the other hand, scaffolding, although constituting ancillary equipment, is very important and, in principle, necessary both in the implementation of projects of new buildings and in their renovation.

Founded in 1856, the Kalksburg Jesuit Secondary Grammar School quickly became the signature school of the Habsburg Monarchy, as it was particularly popular among the aristocracy and lower nobility. This institution, which obtained its ‘publicity right’ in 1891, placed a great emphasis on physical education, besides education and religious formation. Their huge garden, complete with playgrounds and sports fields, created a suitable opportunity for exercise in any season. Due to its ‘convictus’ (i.e. a boarding school), the secondary school possessed a catchment area of attractions: before 1918, students from all over the Habsburg Empire – and even from beyond it – arrived to Kalksburg. Curiously, dismantling the Monarchy merely brought about a partial reapportionment, obvious in the case of Polish students, whose number dropped considerably. The secondary school remained mindful of cultivating education in the students’ mother tongue, as well, so those who were ready for it could also learn the Polish language.

The situation of children from a migration background in Polish dormitories and boarding schools is analysed herein. It is an emerging issue, practically absent in child studies in Poland. The author refers to research that is a part of MiCreate (Migrant Children and Communities in Transforming Europe) and demonstrates that despite the growing presence of migrant children in dormitories, they are invisible within the education system. The legal gaps in regulations applying to these children as residents of dormitories are explored herein, and integrative measures are analysed to find the possible causes of their ineffectiveness. The research was conducted in a dormitory in the city of Kraków. It included interviews with the institution’s staff, participatory observations and autobiographical narrative interviews with students. This article may inspire further large-scale research into the problems of migrant children being present and living in such dormitories.

This paper deals with a solution for faster and safer boarding and leaving of passengers at railway station platforms from 150 mm to 550 mm higher than the head of the rail. This conception is based on the requirements of railway infrastructure administrators, transporters and also manufacturers of passenger rolling stock. This device is designed for the new double-deck railway vehicle for suburban and regional transport, which fulfils legislative and normative requirements that are specified for the selected area of vehicle construction and operational features. Selected parts of the construction were verified through a series of simulation analyses. This article also includes a study that deals with optimization of the boarding area considering designed changes in the construction of the floor and a draft for modification of the vertical clearance of the boarding entrance area in a rough construction of the vehicle.

Aim: An analysis of the idea of boarding school for the poor nobility in the educational system of the Committee of National Education. Methods: Methods adopted in historical and pedagogical sciences. A critical analysis of sources and literature, comparative and linguistic methods. Results: From the moment the Committee of National Education (1773–1794) took control of educational matters, the dominant role of the exclusive, private colleges (Collegia Nobilium) in the education of the noble elite was reduced. The Commission opened 12 boarding schools for the impoverished nobility, which was to prove extremely important for the process of democratization of education in the institutions of the Republic of Poland. Thanks to such boarding schools, acquiring the knowledge necessary for a future profession did not necessitate becoming a student in the service of a magnate. The lesser, poor nobility wished, thanks to this education, to become independent of their wealthier peers and to prepare for a profession in teaching, government, or military, all of which were needed by the monarch and the nation. The sons of the impoverished nobility were made ready to fulfil their duty as citizens of the Republic. Conclusions: There is a need for further source research that will explain the social, educational and cultural role of these institutions, which are important for the democratization of education.

Celem badania było wskazanie sposobów rozwoju zawodowego pedagogów w procesie organizowania kształcenia na odległość oraz charakterystyka doświadczeń i określenie warunków efektywnej organizacji kształcenia na odległość w wyspecjalizowanej estetycznej szkole-internacie na terenach wiejskich. Przedmiotem badania był rozwój zawodowy nauczycieli w procesie przygotowania i organizacji kształcenia na odległość. W badaniu wykorzystano metody systematyzacji, uogólniania, porównywania, wyjaśniania, prognozowania. Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce kształcenia i doskonalenia zawodowego nauczycieli szkoły-internatu w procesie kształcenia na odległość. Przeanalizowane zostały doświadczenia pedagogów szkoły-internatu w organizacji nauczania zdalnego oraz wskazano efektywne formy działalności pedagogicznej nauczycieli. Opisano też doświadczenia w zakresie doskonalenia przestrzeni informacyjno-edukacyjnej szkoły oraz tworzenia osobistych stron internetowych, blogów i autorskich kursów nauczania zdalnego.
The purpose of the study was to indicate the ways of teachers’ professional development in the process of organizing distance learning and to describe the experience and determine the conditions of effective organization of distance learning in a specialized aesthetic boarding school in rural areas. The subject of the study was the professional development of teachers in the process of preparation and organization of distance learning. The study uses the methods of systematization, generalization, comparison, explanation, forecasting. The article is devoted to the problem of training and professional development of boarding school teachers in the process of distance learning. The experience of the teachers of the boarding school in the organization of remote teaching is analyzed, the effective forms of teachers’ pedagogical activity are revealed. The experiences of improving the information and educational space of the school and creating personal websites, blogs, authoring remote teaching courses are described.
