Opis:
Depositio episcoporum, czyli katalog, lista zmarłych biskupów, należy do praktyki Kościołów lokalnych czasu starożytności i średniowiecza. Tablica nr 1 obejmuje lata 968–1544. Katalog przedstawia 24 biskupów i 7 elektów. Kolejne dwa tytuły przedstawiają biskupów pomorskich i biskupów kamieńskich do czasu reformacji.
Referring to the already known in ancient custom of the Cathedral of Szczecin placed two tables made of white marble, on which are the names of the bishops of the mission, and Pomeranian Kamien, as well as bishops and archbishops of Szczecin – Kamien. Depositio episcoporum, which is a directory, list of deceased bishops, should be to practice the local churches of ancient and medieval time. These directories were the oldest source in determining the apostolic succession, which proves faithful to the authentic teaching of Christ. Showing the relationship of the local Church with the universal Church is a testament to the rank of bishopric and the confirmation of its antiquity by demonstrating a complete origin justification, that through the succession of his authority derives from the duration of the source of Christianity. Plaque 1 covers the years from 968 to 1544 years. The catalog presents 24 bishops and 7 Elect. In addition to the name of the bishop subsequently entered were the years of his pontificate, and year of death. It covers the missionary bishops from the time of the Piast Dynasty, which ruled lands were on the Oder and the Baltic Sea (late X/XI century), as well as missionary bishops from the twelfth century with St Otto of Bamberg at the helm. The next two titles represent the Pomeranian bishops and bishops of Kamien until the Reformation. Plaque 2 begins the next stage of the Church’s history from 1544 years to the time of our present. It is fundamentally different from the first. Depositio episcoporum appears only in 1972 (after a 428 year hiatus) called episcopi et archiepiscopi sedinenses-caminenses. This directory bishops precedes a record of ecclesiastical jurisdiction, which lasted continuously since the elimination of the Catholic church organization – after the death of the last bishop of Kamien Erasmus in 1544 – until the erection of the Diocese of Szczecin – Kamien in 1972. The content of the plaque reveals an unbroken continuity of jurisdiction, that is, care and attention of the Holy See over the western Church despite the absence of its full organizational structures. Article justifies historically the content deposito episcoporum, and also provides methodological notes in its development and reading. In this work they are discussed elements of the theological-symbolic and decorative directory bishops. Placing plaques in Szczecin cathedral in 2015, the 875 anniversary of the first to establish on these lands Pomeranian bishopric based in Wolin (1140) is an expression of centuries of continuing the mission of the universal Church, as well as a testimony of our faith community with past generations, identity and historical continuity.

Opis:
Fischhausen is situated in the northern part of the Vistula Lagoon. It was set up in the territory of the Sambian bishopric. The foundation privilege for this town was issued in 1299 by the bishop Siegfried von Regenstein. The bishop’s castle was also situated there. The bishop of Sambia was the ruler of the town until the period of the Reformation. The first privilege was renewed in a slightly modified form in 1305. The first settlers arrived from Stralsund. In ca. 1305 there existed about forty households there. The first installations included a mill, which had existed even before the town was set up, and an inn. The first town council’s regulation is dated on 1694. Amber was collected in the vicinities of the town, which was later sold to the Grand Steward in Königsberg. It was not until the 16th century that Duke Albrecht, who in 1525 became the ruler of the town, permitted seaborne grain trade. Grain trade was hindered by officials from the neighbouring states. The first guilds appeared in the 16th century – they included mainly clothiers, potters, tailors and shoemakers. In the town there was also a parish church. Not much can be said in reference to the political system of the town. After 1525 the position of the Vogt (mayor) was introduced.

This article examines the use of the title papa in the Greek and Coptic papyri, ostraca, and inscriptions of the third–ninth centuries, refuting previous claims that it was primarily used as a ‘priestly title’. The main grammatical features of the term are sketched out, before delineating the use of papa as both noun and honorific to mean ‘bishop’ over the third–seventh centuries, and then as an honorific for monastic administrators after the sixth century. Some brief observations are then made on how the title appears to develop over the ninth–thirteenth centuries.

Opis:
On April 26, 1948, the Provisional Governing Council of PAKP was formed on the basis of minister of public administration Edward Osóbka- Morawski’s directive. The decision was a consequence of the removal of Metropolitan Dionizy (Waledyński) from his position as the head of the Orthodox Church. It left the de facto function of the board of trustees in charge of the Orthodox Church. Provisional Governing Council had de facto the function of the receivership management in charge of the Orthodox Church. It took over all matters and documents of the Warsaw Orthodox Theological Consistory and the entire property of the Church in Poland. The state authorities appointed the Provisional Governing Council two main tasks to solve. They concerned: the problem of autocephaly and election of a new superior. The Council was also to solve the problem of deposed Metropolitan Dionizy (the expulsion outside Warsaw) and the reorganization of the administrative structure of the Church. Until July 1951, these tasks were completed.
Władze państwowe wyznaczyły Tymczasowemu Kolegium Rządzącemu do rozwiązania dwa główne zadania. Dotyczyły one: problemu autokefalii i wyboru nowego zwierzchnika. Miało ono też zająć się sprawą odsuniętego metropolity Dionizego (wysiedlenie poza Warszawę) oraz reorganizacją struktury administracyjnej Cerkwi. Do lipca 1951 roku zadania te zostały wykonane.

Opis:
Francis Dvornik has expressed the view that, in the Eastern part of the Empire, the principle of accommodation dominated over the principle of the apostolic origin. The situation, he maintained, resulted from the fact that the aforementioned area included excessively numerous sees which were either established by one of the Apostles or were considered to be somehow connected with their activities. Does the conclusion of the Czech researcher find any justification in the way the precedence of bishoprics is depicted in the Greek ecclesiastical historiography of the fifth century? The present article is to give an answer to the question. The analysis of the ecclesiastical historiography in question demonstrates that Eusebius of Caesarea, who wrote in the IV th century, while setting a hierarchy of bishops was guided first and foremost by the principle of accommodation. The church historians, however, who compiled their works a mere century later put a decisively lesser stress on Eusebius’ predilection in that matter. Although the narrative of Philostorgius, since fragmentary, is hard to interpret, Socrates’ attitude displays a marked tendency of favoring the importance of the apostolic origin, which was most probably taken over from Rufinus of Aquileia. Sozomen tended to tell the difference between the official hierarchy of bishops, which was based on the principle of accommodation, and the structure of bishoprics connected with the Apostles. Theodoretus, in turn, tended to connect both the principles, however, preferring the idea of the Church originated by saint Peter, accordingly of the ecclesiastic structure based on the principle of the apostolic origin. As a consequence, and contrary to F. Dvornik’s thesis, it should be concluded that (at least) the authors of the Ecclesiastic Histories of the fifth century were in favor of the principle of the apostolic origin and maintained it was over the principle of accommodation.

The reference point for deliberations is constituted by two documents: the Apostolic Constitution of Francis Episcopalis communio and the final document of XV General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops dedicated to the problems of young people Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment. The synodal document presented the issues which were not discussed during the synodal sessions and concern the synodal path of the Church. The author reflects on common elements of both documents and interprets each of them in the light of the other one. He highlights the element of discernment of gifts, charisms, and conscience, which determine the position of the faithful in the ecclesial community and influence the bonds between them and the pastors of the Church. Extending the area of implementation of the synodal character of the Church allows the author to ask the question about the model of the presence of the Church in the world. The author points out similarities between the synodal way and the methodology of ecumenical dialogue, which may affect summoning of the Synod dedicated to ecumenical issues.

Opis:
A number of cases of the bishops of Constantinople exiled over a period until as late as the close of the 6th century prove the fact that the rulers would always make an effort to remove the deposed bishops from the City, even though relocating the latter to specific destinations did not always have to be the case. In the 4th century, the bishops could withdraw to suburban districts or settle at their own estates, and it was not until the 5th century that depositions of the metropolitan bishops would involve, in principle, being deported to a specific place of exile. The purpose behind banishing a bishop from the City and putting him under supervision at a certain location was to prevent him from exerting any influence on the faithful in Constantinople. It should be also noted that sending a person into exile was a form of punishment, especially when the destination was a remote location exposed to harsh weather conditions or the threat of sudden incursions by bands of nomads or brigands. Results of an analysis of the accessibility of exile destinations provide substantial evidence for an overwhelming proportion of inland urban localities. Although many of such places would be located along or near various roads, they were generally situated far from the coast or the main routes to Constantinople.

The aim of the article is to increase the cognitive value in the area of political communication of Polish bishops during the presidential campaign in Poland in 2020, in particular to answer the question whether the Polish Episcopal Conference supported President Andrzej Duda politically in his candidacy for re-election. The research applied the analysis and synthesis method supplemented with elements of hermeneutics. The Polish Episcopal Conference remained an entity not politically involved at the level of institutional communiqués and did not support any of the candidates applying for the office of President of the Republic of Poland in 2020. The issue for further political and media research remains that of complementary forms of communication of the ecclesial institution and the way of expressing one's own electoral preferences, for example through the Catholic media.

Jan Klements Gołaszewski was born on 23 November 1748 in Kowalewszczyzna in Podole, in a noble family. He was ordained to the priest-hood in 1772 at the St. Vincent de Paul Missionary Fathers Congregation in Warsaw. After leaving the congregation he was a parish priest in Pawłowice, and then in his native parish in Waniewo. In the years 1798-1800 he was the vicar in spiritualibus in the Podlasie area. He was one of the close co-operators of the first bishop of the diocese of Wigry Michał Franciszek Karpowicz, who appointed Rev. Gołaszewski as a vicar general and judicial vicar. After the death of Bishop Karpowicz he was put up by the Prussian administration as a candidate for the position of the bishop of Wigry. The Prussian authorities also considered the translation of Bishop Józef Miaskowski from Warsaw to Wigry. Finally, the King of Prussia approved the election of Gołaszewski for the bishop of the diocese of Wigry in spring 1804. The information process and official procedures involved in receiving the Holy Seeʼs approval of the nomi-nation and consecration of a priest entailed the necessity of substantial pay-ments, which Gołaszewski was unable to make. His preconization took place on 26 June 1806. Napoleonʼs campaign and the unstable political situation became a direct reason for the postponing of the episcopal consecration of the nominee. It finally took place on 5 March 1809 in Warsaw (in the times of the Duchy of Warsaw). Bishop Gołaszewski died on 8 March 1820.

The judicial power of the Church as any authority in the Church always tries to build good of the believers. It expresses a principle derived from the Code of Canon Law: Salus animarum suprema lex, which means that the most important task for the Church is the salvation of man. An expression of this principle are marriage processes which can declare the nullity of the marriage. The judge has a very important place in the Church’s justice system. It is the duty of the judge to look after justice and peace in the community of Godʼs people. Justice is a virtue which the judge ought to demand also from himself. Therefore, he should permanently improve moral precepts in himself. He ought to develop good manners and everything which can influence the realization of the principle of justice. Ecclesiastical courts confirm that for many litigating parties in marriage cases, proceedings concerning cases of nullity of marriage, have a practical purpose, which is to regulate life in a new marriage. But we cannot forget that the primary purpose of marriage process is to know the truth about marriage. Therefore, judicial power, which judges or judicial colleges possess, must be exercised in the manner prescribed by law, and it is important to judge fills all the steps in the canonical process of declaration of nullity of marriage carefully and with due observance of the law.

Pursuant to the contemporary teaching of the Catholic Church bishops are deemed the successors of Apostles – and the only continuation in their offices. The oldest monumental Christian scripts would rather suggest the separation of bishops from the presbyters.
