    Opis:
    The article takes up an issue of a Divine grace in a contemporary theology of the Canadian theologian, Bernard Lonergan. It is a phenomenologically-transcendental attempt of formulating the reality, where instead of the traditional theological ideas the new concepts appear, that refer to a human experience of love. In this way, Lonergan wants above all to point out, that the grace is a relation of persons, wherein the love as a gift originated from a free initiative of God becomes through a response of the man, a link creating a relationship and going beyond the man himself towards the others. That is why, Lonergan accepts the love between the people as a pattern for the grace, since he wants to explain how the man, living in the grace, acts, behaves and affects the others. As a definition of the reality of grace, Lonergan uses an expression: being-in-love-with-God, and in the first place he indicates what the man accepts from the outside thanks to the grace, to exhibit afterwards what he passes on further, being himself in the state of grace.

    Opis:
    Bernard Lonergan SJ (1904-1984), the most famous English exponent of transcendental thomism („the American Rahner”), attached greater and greater importance, particularly after his existential turn, to religious experience. For him, the most significant form of this experience is being-in-love-with-God as basic, proper fulfillment of man's unrestricted thrust of self--transcendence in the direction of being, truth and value. It is experience of self-actualization, of complete integration, of complete fulfillment, it is a dynamic state of love in an unrestricted fashion, without qualifications or conditions or reservations or limits. This experience cannot be man's achievement, it is always granted to us as a gift, it is in principle independent of knowledge, we can only receive it, accept it when it comes quietly, secretly, unobtrusively. It is the core and focus of religious life, for Christians it is experience of God's grace; however the analysis of the main common features of religious experience in all highly developed religions demonstrates that, in point of fact, it is often a very similar experience, it is often the same experience. Religions have then a common origin, common essential realm. Of course, the understanding and interpreting of this experience depend always on the horizons of meaning in which it occurs and these horizons are as varied as the concrete, historically conditioned human cultures, human religious traditions, human temperaments, human lives are. Due to them, this one primordial experience manifests itself in countless ways, in countless religious expressions, but in spite of that it remains the real root and ground of the unity of all religions, it remains the basis for dialogue between them.

    The paper discusses notions of intuition and insight. The most typical features attributed to intuition in the history of philosophy – receptiveness, passivity, immediateness, directness, self-evidence, infallibility, and indubitability – are analyzed. A variability of the notion of intuition is shown, taking as its example the category of insight, central for the epistemology of Bernard J.F. Lonergan (1904–1984), the twentieth-century philosopher locating between phenomenology, Thomism and hermeneutics. Insight is still in some respects a kind of intuition although it is creative, active, mediated, indirect, fallible and open to revision.

    Opis:
    One of the most important problems of philosophy is the “critical problem”, the problem of bridge between the human mind and the world, the external reality. It is the question of relations between the subject and the object. The interesting solution for this problem is given by Bernard Lonergan SJ (1904–1984), one of the most important Catholic English-speaking thinkers of the twentieth century. It would be difficult to point to someone who influenced the American Catholic philosophy and theology from the inside out more than he did: that is why he is called the “American Rahner „. He tries to connect the great tradition of Thomism and Augustinianism and, on the other hand, classical and modern philosophy, German idealism and English Empiricism. At the heart of his thinking is the theory of the human mind. With the help of transcendental and phenomenological methods, Lonergan demonstrates that the mental structure of man consists of five levels: the empirical level, the intellectual level, the rational level, the responsible level and the level of religious experience, which together create a cumulative process that leads to knowledge and decision. The most important point here is he act of understanding, the insight, which always has a creative moment, especially on the second and third levels, as an effect of the subject’s work. The correct understanding of this moment enables a mediation between the empirical, rational and idealistic understanding of the knowledge process. Correct action on all levels, faithfulness to the nature of the subject, leads to truth – according to Lonergan’s very apt maxim: objectivity is the fruit of the authentic subjectivity.

    Rozwój badań historyczno-krytycznych doprowadził na przestrzeni wieków do zbyt drobiazgowego wyróżniania warstw tradycji, z poza których wyłania się postać Jezusa coraz bardziej zamazana. Papież Benedykt XVI dostrzegł ten problem i wyznaczył egzegetom nowe kierunki w hermeneutyce Pisma św. zawarte w adhortacji apostolskiej Verbum Domini. Metoda ta posiada wiele punktów wspólnych z wypracowaną przez Bernarda Lonergana metodą w teologii. Artykuł wskazuje na zagrożenia dla współczesnej biblistyki i proponuje drogi, które mogą pomóc doprowadzić do analizy Pisma świętego zgodnej z jego zadaniem i przeznaczeniem. Główny akcent tych wskazań zarówno u Benedykta XVI, jak i B. Lonergana położony jest na obudzenie świadomości egzegety, że przebywa w obecności Słowa Bożego, natchnionego i wypowiedzianego przez samego Boga, a zapisanego jedynie ręką skryby. Wiara i żywa relacja z Jezusem podstawą do zrozumienia przesłania i sensu Objawienia. Duch święty i Maryja ożywiają nieustannie umysł egzegety, by mógł, tak jak Maryja zachowywać Słowo i starać się je zrozumieć. Duże znaczenie przypisane jest też zdrowemu rozsądkowi egzegety, który sam będąc zanurzonym w Słowie musi komentować Go tak, by głosić Ewangelię wszystkim narodom, klasom i w każdej kulturze, w sposób zgodny z asymilacyjnymi możliwościami owych klas i kultur. Głoszenie, aby mogło być skuteczne powinno być tak wielorakie, jak wielorakie są odmiany zdrowego rozsądku, języka, form społecznych. Lonergan podkreśla, że aby praca egzegety była skuteczna musi być brana pod uwagę struktura ludzkiego ducha. Następnie idąc w ślad za myślą B. Lonergana w artykule zostały omówione przykazania transcendentalne, których celem jest przybliżenie zarówno egzegety, jak i słuchaczy do głębszego zrozumienia Słowa i przyjęcia Go nie tylko jako słowa ludzkiego, ale Słowa Boga, który niezmiennie żyje, działa i porusza serca ludzi by poznawali Jego Syna Jezusa. Kolejnym zagadnieniem podjętym w artykule jest odpowiedzialność egzegetów za interpretację Słowa Bożego, który są powołani do tego by uczestniczyć w życiu Ko-ścioła i zagłębiać się w myśl i intuicje podane przez Ojców Kościoła. Celem każdego egzegety powinno być wyjaśnienie sensu tekstu biblijnego jako aktualnego Słowa Bo-żego przy zachowaniu wszelkich zasad egzegezy kanonicznej, żywej Tradycji i analogii wiary.
    The development of historical-critical research led over the centuries to the very minute highlight layers of tradition, outside of which emerges the figure of Jesus more and more blurred. Pope Benedict XVI saw this problem and set exegetes new directions in the hermeneutics of Scripture. contained in the Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domi-ni. This method has many points in common with developed by Bernard Lonergan method in theology. The article points to the threat to the contemporary biblical studies and proposes a way that can help lead to an analysis of Scripture in accordance with its mission and purpose. The main emphasis of these indications in both Benedict XVI and B. Lonergan is set to awaken the awareness of the exegete that it is in the presence of the Word of God, inspired and spoken by God and recorded only the hand of a scribe.
