Opis:
An important technique to optimize a network and improve network robustness is traffic engineering. As traffic demand increases, traffic engineering can reduce service degradation and failure in the network. To allow a network to adapt to changes in the traffic pattern, the research community proposed several traffic engineering techniques for the traditional networking architecture. However, the traditional network architecture is difficult to manage. Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a new networking model, which decouples the control plane and data plane of the networking devices. It promises to simplify network management, introduces network programmability, and provides a global view of network state. To exploit the potential of SDN, new traffic engineering methods are required. This paper surveys the state of the art in traffic engineering techniques with an emphasis on traffic engineering for SDN. It focuses on some of the traffic engineering methods for the traditional network architecture and the lessons that can be learned from them for better traffic engineering methods for SDN-based networks. This paper also explores the research challenges and future directions for SDN traffic engineering solutions.

Celem pracy było zbadanie świadomości ekologicznej mieszkańców aglomeracji górnośląskiej. W tym celu na grupie stu osób, o zróżnicowanym wykształceniu i doświadczeniu zawodowym, przeprowadzono ankietę poruszającą kwestię świadomości ekologicznej. Analiza wyników pozwala stwierdzić, iż mieszkańcy aglomeracji górnośląskiej nie są całkowicie świadomi stanu środowiska w swoim otoczeniu. Badani wskazali gospodarstwa domowe jako główne źródło zanieczyszczenia środowiska, natomiast rozwój energetyki odnawialnej jawi się jako działanie, które może skutkować znaczną poprawą stanu środowiska. Większość respondentów uważa, że ich świadomość ekologiczna kształtowała się w okresie życia zawodowego, co sugeruje skuteczność oraz konieczność prowadzenia kampanii proekologicznych ukierunkowanych na dorosłych odbiorców.
The aim of the study was to investigate the ecological awareness of upper silesian inhabitants. Questionnaire on ecological awareness was conducted on a group of 100 people with diverse backgrounds and professional experience. Analysis of the results shows that upper silesian are not fully aware of the state of the environment in their surroundings. The respondents pointed to households as the main source of environmental pollution, whereas the development of renewable energy is seen as an activity which may result in a significant improvement of the environment. The majority of respondents believe that their ecological awareness was formed at work. It can be said that it is important to conduct pro-ecological campaigns aimed at adults.

One of the challenges facing wildlife conservation is how to change the way people perceive wildlife. Therefore this study examine wildlife conservation awareness and practices in some selected secondary school around Kainji Lake National Park. Data was collected through the use of pre tested structured questionnaires among six selected secondary school in the study area. The sample of the research was one hundred (100) respondents. Data was analysis using descriptive statistics. The findings reveals that majority of the respondents (74%) are male and age group 15-20 years had the highest with 43%. 63% of the respondents are aware of wildlife conservation in the study area and majority (66%) of the respondent has not visit the Kainji Lake National Park. 50% of the respondents had about wildlife through direct communication. 63% and 80% of the respondents are willing and are ready to support wildlife conservation in the study area. The finding still reveal that awareness is still lacking in most schools among the communities. Therefore more wildlife conservation awareness is needed in our various schools so as to get the interest of the students when they are still young so that generation coming will also be thought.

Wyniki badań ilościowych, prowadzonych wystandaryzowanymi testami diagnostycznymi ukazującymi takie umiejętności jak relacje interpersonalne dzieci, podejmowanie decyzji, radzenie sobie z sytuacją trudną i kierowanie stresem oraz interesujące nas w tym artykule budowanie samoświadomości, zostały opublikowane w monografii Kształtowanie umiejętności życiowych uczniów klas początkowych w toku innowacyjnych warsztatów plastycznych Nauka – Sztuka – Edukacja na przykładzie badań eksperymentalnych. W artykule dokonano porównania wyników badań ilościowych, dotyczących umiejętności do budowania samoświadomości u dzieci, z nieopisywanymi jeszcze wynikami badań pochodzących z technik jakościowych (obserwacja nauczycielska i wnioski nauczycieli z badań jakościowych oraz autorski test projekcyjny skierowany do dzieci: Moje mocne i słabe strony). Badania ilościowe ukazują długi proces kształtowania się umiejętności do budowania samoświadomości i załamanie się wyników tej zmiennej po klasie II. Badania jakościowe potwierdzają długość kształtowania się samoświadomości, szczególnie pozytywnej samooceny u dzieci, ale ukazują systematyczną wzrastającą dojrzałość dzieci w tej trudnej dla tego wieku umiejętności. W okresie popandemicznym i trudnym czasie braku poczucia bezpieczeństwa spowodowanym konfliktami wojennymi kształtowanie pozytywnej samooceny staje się kwestią ważną w edukacji dzieci w pierwszym etapie edukacyjnym ze względu na ich zdrowie psychiczne. Projekt „Nauka – Sztuka – Edukacja” jest zatem jednym z gotowych narzędzi (programów edukacji plastycznej) do kształtowania tej umiejętności.
This article presents an excerpt from a large three-year study conducted using the pedagogical experiment method and concerning the development of life skills of children at an early school age, including gifted children, through the implementation of an innovative art education program „Science – Art – Education”. The results of quantitative research, conducted with standardized diagnostic tests showing such skills as – children’s interpersonal relationships, decision-making, coping with difficult situations and stress management, and building self-awareness, which we are interested in this article – were published in the form of a monograph Shaping life skills of primary school pupils in the course of innovative art workshops Science – Art – Education on the example of experimental research. In the presented text, compared the results of quantitative research on the skills to build self-awareness in children with the yet undescribed results of research from qualitative techniques (teacher observation and teachers’ conclusions from qualitative research and an original projective test addressed to children: My strengths and weaknesses). Quantitative research shows a long process of shaping self-awareness and a breakdown of the results of this variable after the second grade. Qualitative research confirms the length of time needed to develop self-awareness, and especially positive self-esteem, in children, but they show the systematic development of this difficult skill in children at this age. In the post-pandemic period and the difficult time of insecurity caused by war conflicts, shaping positive self-esteem becomes an important issue in the education of children in the first stage of education due to their mental health. Thus, the „Science – Art – Education” project is one of the ready-made tools (art education programs) for shaping this skill.

Objectives: Depression is acommon mental health disorder. The aim of this study is to determine the level of public awareness regarding this illness, its symptoms, associated factors, available forms of treatment, and the attitude towards depressed people. Methods: A self administered questionnaire was filled in by approximately 5000 individuals selected from various regions of Jordan. Results: The majority of participants thought that depression is a treatable condition that can affect patient at any age, and may be controlled by the will power. Loss of interest in things and presence of negative feelings were the most commonly recognized symptoms of depression, while, unemployment and poverty were found to be the most recognized risk factors for depression. In addition, most participants considered support from family and friends (93.6%) as well as exercise (80.4%) to be the best available forms of depression treatment. Respondents found it acceptable to work, make friends with, or marry depressed individuals. The first choice persons for seeking help by most participants were family members and friends (49.8%). Conclusion: Collectively, the level of awareness of depression was acceptable. However, further efforts are necessary to establish public educational programs related to depression in order to raise awareness regarding the disease.

This study evaluated the process of in-site sorting of the generated solid waste (SW) in some educational institutions in Ma’an city, Jordan. The study included eight schools and one University. The students and employees of seven schools, as well as the students and employees of the University, had received the awareness campaigns concerning the importance and benefits of in-site sorting of SW. As a control, one school student and employee who had not received awareness campaigns were involved. The institutions were provided with four bins at each collection site (glass and plastic, paper and cardboard, metals, and bread). The content of bins in each institution was collected and sorted manually to evaluate the efficiency of the conducted awareness campaigns on onsite sorting behavior. The mass ratios of many SW components in their designated bins in the reference school (control) were higher than the average ratios in the assigned bins for the same component in all schools. As for the University, the results of the manual sorting showed that all bins included a mix of SW in different ratios; moreover, the proportions of glass and plastic, and metals were lower than the proportions of other components. On the basis of the above mentioned results, it can be concluded that the awareness campaigns did not achieve the stated goals; subsequently, the in-site sorting failed in the schools and the University. Thus, different awareness campaigns should be assessed to identify the best approach positively affect the SW sorting and disposal habits of people.

This study aims to examine the effect of incidental learning on the comprehension of 30 English affixes by 50 Arabic-speaking EFL learners in an attempt to determine which affixes are more easily comprehended. We adopt the experimental design of a pre- and post-test to measure the participants’ knowledge of English affixes before and after the treatment, which involved taking part in the prediction of the meaning of English affixed words in context for one academic semester. To this end, we divided the 50 participants into two groups: treatment and control. We administered a 30-item multiple choice test as the pre- and post-test to determine whether the treatment helped the participants expand their knowledge of English affixes.

Opis:
Ensuring a good level of cybersecurity of global IT systems requires that specific procedures and cooperation frameworks be adopted for reporting threats and for coordinating the activities undertaken by individual entities. Technical infrastructure enabling safe and reliable online collaboration between all teams responsible for security is an important element of the system as well. With the above taken into consideration, the paper presents a comprehensive distributed solution for continuous monitoring and detection of threats that may affect services that provision is essential to security and broadly understood the state’s economic interests. The said solution allows to collect, process and share distributed knowledge on hazard events. The partnership-based model of cooperation between the system’s users allows the teams to undertake specific activities at the central level, facilitates global cyber threat awareness, and enhances the process of predicting and assessing cyber risks in order to ensure a near-realtime response. The paper presents an overview of the system’s architecture, its main components, features, and threat intelligence tools supporting the safe sharing of information concerning specific events. It also offers a brief overview of the system’s deployment and its testing in an operational environment of NASK’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and Security Operation Center (SOC) of essential services operators.

The paper depicts a complex, distributed information system aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness at the national level. The system, that is built in accordance with the Act on National Cybersecurity, passed by the Polish Parliament, enables collecting and processing in near-real time available information on the security status of essential services and digital services and, also, provides for assessment of negative impact of the identified threats concerned with the provision of those services. Advanced access control and dissemination mechanisms, for secure information sharing within the system, are provided in order to aggregate distributed knowledge and use this information for on-line security risk analysis and for generation and distribution of early warnings.

The increasing pervasiveness of media in society implies the ubiquitous processes of geodata-capture and real-time feedback. The concept of Geomedia considers these developments and raises the questions of geoprivacy and corporate surveillance. The aim of this study was to investigate what kinds of geolocation data are shared wittingly or unwittingly, and in what contexts. Beyond that, we ask how much individuals know about the data-sharing processes and the underlying commercial logic, and how they act upon this knowledge (whether paradoxically or not). Our study was theoretically framed by contextual privacy (Nissenbaum 2011), because we assumed that a violation of privacy is perceived differently according to the context. The quasi-experimental design (using a WiFi-capture device) combined with a questionnaire revealed the participants’ attitudes to, and awareness of, data sharing, and their understanding of geoprivacy and geomedia use. The main results show that people are aware of the underlying commercial logic, have privacy concerns and, strongly depending on contextual factors, their knowledge and capabilities, act upon this awareness. Finally, we show that smartphones covertly share a huge amount of meta and traffic data.

Musical awareness of languages in general and that of the French language in particular in the field of teaching French as a foreign language remains weak today, not generalized and far inferior to linguistic and cultural awareness. By placing oneself within the framework of the didactology-didactics of the music of the French language-culture, it appears that modes of conditioning of this spontaneous, intuitive and reflected musical consciousness can logically take their place in accordance with the fundamental existence of the music of the French language produced in the spoken mode and of the need for the learner to master it.
