    This article deals with Origen’s interpretation of Isaiah’s vision in Isa 6. Origen refers to his Hebrew Master’s statement in Orig. Princ. 1.3.4 where two Seraphim are identified with Christ and the Holy Spirit. The main scope in the article is to put the Hebrew Master’s opinion in balance with Origen’s own Christology. The problem is approached from the method of biblical argumentation by using ancien reception historical ways to understand scripture. The Hebrew Master’s statement is related to three important themes: First, the angelomorphic theophanies in the Old Testament provide a general background for the idea that Christ (and the Holy Spirit) can be identified with Seraphim. Second, Origen relates Isaiah’s Seraphim to Cherubim in the Ark of Covenant and use Hab 3:2 to illustrate his Christology. Third, the Christology of the Ascension of Isaiah provides a good parallel to understand the Hebrew Master’s statement about Seraphim. The main result in the article is that Origen’s own Christology is well balanced with the statement of the Hebrew Master. Origen’s teachings about Christ can be characterized as high and subordinate Christology, and its roots are in early Jewish-Christian circles.

    One of the most pressing issues today is the need to rediscover hope, which can give meaning to life and history and enables people to walk together. After all, it is that spiritual force that does not allow a person to stop or be satisfied with what they already have and who they are. It provides an opening to the future and paves new paths for human freedom. It gives meaning to human life on earth. Christianity has an important role in this regard, as it is an event that was born out of hope and entered history as a living and profound experience of hope. In doing so, it touched some particularly tender place in the human being, which is precisely hope, without which the human being cannot live. The purpose of this article is to show the magnitude and meaningfulness of Christian hope based on the analysis of selected works of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI. To answer the question: what, according to him, is Christian hope, what is its basis and what is its specificity? What could it offer to the modern world? It is also an explanation of the thesis put forward by the author, which states that without God and without Christ there is no real hope, i.e. one that corresponds both to who man is and to the aspirations and desires arising from his ontic dignity. The first section addresses the reasoning behind hope from the perspective of anthropology. The second one presents and discusses the theological basis of Christian hope. Meanwhile, in the third section, the originality and specificity of Christian hope is shown.

    Opis:
    This article investigates the ascension accounts (Luke 24:50-53 and Acts 1:9-11) in a narrative way. The main analysis point will be the question: why is one event recounted twice: at the end of the first Lukan volume and the beginning of the second? The second question concerns the meaning of the discrepancies between the two pericopes. We argue that all differences can be explained by Luke’s literary and narrative strategy. Luke 24:50-53 recounts the recognition of Jesus. Acts 1:9-11 marks the end of the period (between resurrection and ascension) needed for the disciples to become the legitimate and authoritative successors of Jesus.

    What is the Ascension? Is it merely a narrative of a post-paschal community? In what spatio-temporal reality has it been fulfilled? How should we understand its placement in time: forty days after the Resurrection, and ten days prior to the Descent of the Holy Spirit? The Ascension should be analyzed integrally in connection with the mystery of death and the Resurrection. This paper presents an attempt at deepening New-Testament ecclesiogenesis while also moving away from the narrowed understanding that the Church emerged solely as a result of the words, deeds and person of Jesus Christ. On the one hand, it is a reference to the five stages of the Church's emergence as an event of the entire Holy Trinity in the still-unfinished history of salvation. On the other: it is a presentation of the typically ignored of the Ascension, which is usually reduced to the event of the Resurrection of the glorious Lord. Analysis of the Ascension – performed in the light of ecclesiogenesis – leads to uncovering the pneumatological and eschatological components, which are most interesting in reference to the multi-dimensional establishment of the Church and its mission.
    Czym jest Wniebowstąpienie? Czy jest to tylko narracja popaschalnej wspólnoty? W jakiej rzeczywistości czasowo-przestrzennej ono się spełniło? Jak rozumieć usytuowanie go w czasie: 40 dni po Zmartwychwstaniu, a 10 dni przed Zesłaniem Ducha Świętego? Wniebowstąpienie winno być rozważane integralnie, czyli w łączności z misterium Krzyża, śmierci i Zmartwychwstania. W artykule podjęta została próba pogłębienia eklezjogenezy nowotestamentalnej, przy równoczesnym odchodzeniu od zawężonego rozumienia, iż Kościół powstał jedynie w wyniku słów, działania i osoby Jezusa Chrystusa. Z jednej strony: mamy odwołanie się do pięciu etapów powstawania Kościoła jako wydarzenia całej Trójcy Świętej, niezakończonych jeszcze dziejów zbawienia. A z drugiej: koncentrujemy się na pomijanym na ogół Wniebowstąpieniu, milcząco włączanym do wydarzenia Zmartwychwstania chwalebnego Pana. Analiza Wniebowstąpienia – prowadzona w świetle eklezjogenezy – prowadzi do wyodrębnienia interesujących elementów pneumatycznych i eschatycznych w odniesieniu do wielowymiarowego konstytuowania się wciąż Kościoła i jego misji.

    Dla muzułmanów Jerozolima jest trzecim świętym miejscem po Mekce i Medynie. Święte Miasto wskazuje na ciągłość istniejącą między wcześniejszymi religiami i podkreśla jedność objawienia się Boga w historii ludzkości. Podobnie jak dla żydów i chrześcijan, również dla muzułmanów Jerozolima oznacza środek świata. W porównaniu z poprzednimi religiami jednak Jerozolima stała się symbolem wyższości islamu jako doskonałej religii, która doprowadzi ludzkość do dnia ostatecznego. Kultura muzułmańska rozbudowała bogatą symbolikę związaną z Jerozolimą. Mahomet, który z historycznego punktu widzenia nigdy nie dotarł do Świętego Miasta, dokonał tej podróży w sposób mistyczny. Tu spotkał się z dawnymi prorokami i wstąpił do nieba, by spotkać się z samym Bogiem. To wydarzenie miało potwierdzić jego misję jako ostatni i doskonały prorok. Rolę Jerozolimy w kulturze islamu ukazują muzułmańska architektura. Podkreśla ona historyczne powiązanie islamu z poprzednimi tradycjami religijnymi, wskazuje na wydarzenia eschatologiczne i ostateczne spotkanie ludzkości z Bogiem, które dokona się w Świętym Mieście na końcu czasów.
    For Muslims, Jerusalem is the third holiest site, after Mecca and Medina. The Holy City marks the continuity that exists between the religions, and emphasizes the unity of the revelation of God in human history. Just like for the Jews and the Christians, also for the Muslims, Jerusalem is the center of the world. Compared with the previous religions, however, Jerusalem has become a symbol of the superiority of Islam, as a perfect religion that will lead humanity to the Last Day. The Muslim culture developed a rich symbolism associated with Jerusalem. Muhammad, who historically never reached the Holy City, accomplished this journey in a mystical way. Here he met with former prophets and ascended to heaven to meet God himself. The goal of this event was to confirm his mission as the last and perfect prophet. The Muslim architecture shows the role of Jerusalem in Islamic culture. It emphasizes the historical connection of Islam with previous religious traditions, it points to the eschatological events and the final meeting of humanity with God, which will be in the Holy City at the End of Time.

    According to the teaching of Vatican Council II: “liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed […] and the font from which all her power flows” (SC 10). This meaning of “a particle” of Church life is what Rev. Prof. Jan Józef Janicki, celebrating now his jubilee, is so much convinced that he has devoted to liturgy, this beautiful Church attire, his entire scientific and life pursuits, writing about it with all his heart! The scientific research of Rev. Prof. Janicki has focused on the following issues: theology of liturgy (basic liturgical realities, theology of euchological texts of the new liturgical books of the Church, Paschal Mystery and its expression in the Eucharist and in liturgical year); history of liturgy (the influence of the Hebrew, Hellenistic and Roman cultures on the Christian liturgy, the liturgy of the first centuries of the Church, history of liturgical books); history of holy and jubilee years (history of liturgical movement, history of liturgical congresses, the role of Saints in the Church life in the light of Mass formulas); liturgical ministry (liturgy as exercising the ministry of sanctification in the Church community, the ministry of a sacristan, liturgy of the Holy Land). It appears that the entire way of “writing liturgy with his heart” was implanted in Rev. Prof. Janicki by one of the most acclaimed theologians and historians of post Vatican Council II period, the Benedictine monk from Maria Laach Abbey, Professor Burkhard Neunheuser. This remarkable man, the professor of Pontificio Istituto Liturgico in Rome, became Rev. Prof. Janicki’s mentor guiding him and showing the path for his academic growth. The key idea in Fr. Neunheuser’s post‑Council teachings about liturgy was emphasizing the role of the Paschal Mystery which is the very centre of liturgical year and of each Church activity. Therefore, Passion, Death and Resurrection as well as the Ascension of Christ are these events through which the most important “miracles” are done, namely, adoration of God and redemption of man (cf. SC 5,6). These are the pivotal moments in the history of salvation, as God’s plan is realized in Christ, and the centre of Christianity is Pascha, the sacrifice. The Mother Church takes an active part in His sacrifice, making His sacrifice her own, and by Him she is raised from this world up to God and praised. This participation in Christ’s sacrifice is the act of grace, so there must be belief, and everything is accomplished through the mystery of worship. Everything to which the greatest advocates of liturgy, such as, Prosper Gueranger, Pius Parch, Odo Casel, Romano Guardini and Burkhard Neunheuser amongst them devoted throughout the entire history of liturgy revival has been crucial to engrain the Paschal Mystery in man’s life. Here we can find this thread which links all those magnificent liturgists with our honourable Rev. Professor Janicki who has been proclaiming so successfuly the Paschal Mystery.
    Skoro „liturgia jest źródłem i szczytem życia Kościoła” (KL 10), jak naucza nas Sobór Watykański II, to z niej wszystko wypływa i do niej wszystko zdąża. O takim właśnie rozumieniu tej „cząstki” życia Kościoła niezwykle przekonany jest Jubilat, który dla piękna tej szaty Kościoła, jaką jest liturgia, poświęcił swoje naukowe i życiowe dociekania, dlatego można powiedzieć o nim, że liturgię sercem pisał! Kierunki badań naukowych Księdza Profesora Jana Józefa Janickiego koncentrują się wokół następujących zagadnień: teologii liturgii (podstawowe rzeczywistości liturgiczne, teologia tekstów euchologijnych nowych ksiąg liturgicznych Kościoła, misterium paschalne i jego uobecnienie w Eucharystii i w roku liturgicznym); historii liturgii (wpływy kultury hebrajskiej, helleńskiej i rzymskiej na liturgię chrześcijańską, liturgia pierwszych wieków Kościoła, dzieje ksiąg liturgicznych); historii lat świętych – jubileuszowych (historia ruchu liturgicznego, historia kongresów eucharystycznych, rola świętych w życiu Kościoła w świetle formularzy mszalnych); duszpasterstwa liturgicznego (liturgia wypełnianiem posługi uświęcania we wspólnocie Kościoła, posługa zakrystiana, liturgia w Ziemi Świętej). Wydaje się, że całkowitą drogę „pisania sercem liturgii” zaszczepił mu jeden z najważniejszych teologów i historyków liturgii po Vaticanum II, a był nim benedyktyński mnich z opactwa Maria Laach o prof. Burkhard Neunheuser. Ten wyjątkowy człowiek, profesor Pontificio Istituto Liturgico w Rzymie, stał się mentorem i wskazującym kierunek dla rozwoju naukowego naszego Jubilata.Kluczowe dla nauczania o soborowej liturgii przez o. Neunheusera było zwrócenie uwagi na misterium paschalne, które jest centrum roku liturgicznego i każdej czynności Kościoła. To bowiem Męka, Śmierć i Zmartwychwstanie oraz Wniebowstąpienie Chrystusa, przez które właśnie dokonują się najważniejsze „cuda”, a są to uwielbienie Boga i odkupienie człowieka (zob. KL 5, 6). To jest wydarzenie centralne w historii zbawienia. Skoro Boży plan zbawienia urzeczywistnia się w Chrystusie, to w centrum chrześcijaństwa znajduje się Pascha, czyli ofiara. Kościół bierze aktywny udział w Jego ofierze, Jego ofiarę czyni swoją ofiarą i przez niego zostaje podniesiony z tego świata do Boga oraz uwielbiony. To zaś uczestnictwo w ofierze jest dziełem łaski, potrzebna jest więc wiara, a dokonuje się to w misterium kultu. Wszystko to, czemu służyli przez całą historię odnowy liturgii wielcy jej piewcy tej miary co dom Prosper Gueranger, Pius Parch, Odo Casel, Romano Guardini i inni, a także Burkhard Neunheuser, było niezwykle ważne dla tego, aby misterium paschalne wkorzenić w życie człowieka. I dlatego wydaje się, że tu znajduje się owa nić, która łączy tych wielkich i wspaniałych liturgistów z naszym Jubilatem, który głosi z dużym powodzeniem misterium paschalne.

    Przykład kieleckich cerkwi Wniebowstąpienia Pańskiego i św. Mikołaja Cudotwórcy pokazuje w jaki sposób, w okresie II Rzeczpospolitej, traktowane było rosyjskie dziedzictwo. Choć w dyskursie publicznym wielokrotnie podkreślano, że świątynie prawosławne były narzędziem politycznym służącym do rusyfikacji ziem polskich, a w związku z tym winny jak najszybciej zniknąć z przestrzeni urbanistycznej, ich likwidacja – jak w Kielcach – rozłożona była na lata. Na nią zaś składało się wiele czynników. Nie brakowało też argumentów za pozostawieniem tych obiektów, co rodziło konflikty zarówno na poziomie władz lokalnych, jak i ministerialnych w Warszawie. Na przykładzie Kielc zobrazowano też sytuację społeczności prawosławnej, która po ewakuacji władz rosyjskich i rosyjskiego wojska w trakcie I wojny światowej, zmniejszyła się wielokrotnie i często – podobnie jak cerkwie, z uwagi na związki z caratem – narażona była na wrogi stosunek polskiej ludności. Mimo wielu utrudnień udało się jej jednak zorganizować i uzyskać zgodę władz państwowych na odprawianie prawosławnych nabożeństw w przystosowanych do tego celu świeckich pomieszczeniach.
    The example of the Eastern Orthodox churches of the Ascension and of Saint Nicholas of Myra shows how – in the times of the Second Republic of Poland – Russian heritage was treated. Although in the public discourse it was often emphasised that Orthodox churches were a political tool serving the aim of Russification of Poland and therefore should quickly disappear from the urban sphere, their demolition – as in Kielce – took years and depended on many factors. Arguments for retaining the churches also existed, which generated many conflicts both on the level of local and governmental authorities. Kielce also serve as an exemplification of the situation of the Orthodox community, which – after the evacuation of the Russian authorities and army during World War I – diminished time and again. Similarly to the Orthodox churches it faced enmity from the Polish population because of its relations to the tsardom. Despite many obstacles the Orthodox community managed to organise and receive permission for celebrating services in lay premises adapted to this end.

    The article deals with the symbolism of the Gothic cathedral and crypt in Wyspiański’s “French” letters to Rydel, Huysmans’ and Berent’s novels, and in the art from the late 19th century through the early 20th century (Monet, Rodin). The cathedral represented in the examined works becomes a symbol of the need of the human soul to free oneself from the body and fly up to heaven. The crypt is considered a space of self-reflection and refuge.

    Salvador Dalí, one of the most famous Surrealist artists, and 20th century painters, highly imaginative, eccentric, know for his unusual behaviour, maybe best-known for his work ‘The Persistence of Memory’, was also the author of religious paintings. From them on the christological or rather staurological-resurrectional criterion can be distinguish group of paintings which in very original way are connected to paschal mystery’ themes. These pictures and their staurological-resurrectional contents are subject of this article. These pictures have been analysed in three points: Last Supper, Crucifixion, Resurrection. Dalí’s staurological-resurrectional works show thematic dependencies and relationships not only in the indicated groups but also between them. It shows Dalí’s coherent method of artistic expression – nuclear mysticism. In his painting this is a kind of synthesis mysticism and sciences, especially atomic and nuclear physics, in presentation religious contents, especially christological.Dalí’s works are not refer directly to paschal events, but present significance of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection for whole universe, for all creation, and especially for a man. Dalí’s pictures shows that Christ by his death and resurrection transformed world in new creation, that He has been present in world history and waiting with an offer of salvation (especially in Eucharist) for every man, that He wants to bring all people and whole creation into heaven, and in this way complete His Ascension. Dalí shows heaven as reality very close to man, available for him at all the time. People can participate in heaven, if they are open to God’s reality. Dalí pictures helps to see that human life is in constant relationship to God which is not far away, but very close, although in another dimension.

    The paper presents comprehensive results of the hydrogeochemical and isotope analysis of waters in terms of their genesis and “ages”. Mostly chloride anomalies were found on the Polish Baltic coast. The processes of ascension and ingression of saline and brackish waters are the main reasons for their development. The water exchange rate was determined in each aquifer systems within the study area the results of isotope analysis, the concentrations of 4He and 3H. A significant contribution of infiltrating waters in cold climate is apparent in samples taken from: Ustka, Jarosławiec and Dąbki, for which NGT values range from 4.3 to 5.2°C. Waters with this genesis are found mainly in deep Pleistocene aquifers and Cretaceous roof layers. Changes in the chemical composition of waters in this area are strongly affected by human activity consisting in excessive exploitation of aquifers (mainly in the 1970s and 1980s). The process of saline water penetration into exploited aquifers was most extensive at that time. At present, it has been significantly inhibited as a result of reduced water extraction at the water intakes in this area. New water intakes are located at a considerable distance from the areas threatened with ingression or ascension of brine and saline water.

    Wniebowstąpienie jeszcze wyraźniej niż Zmartwychwstanie daje nam odczuć, że Chrystus jest ponad wszelkimi ludzkimi ograniczeniami. Jest inaczej i bardziej obecny, niż potrafimy to zrozumieć. Można określić tę obecność jako Boską, a ta nie zna opuszczenia, oddalenia, zapomnienia, odległości.
    The Risen Christ reveals the love of God the Father and reveals himself as His beloved Son. In Him, every man is accepted by God. Ascension is the next step in the mission of Christ, which completes in His return to the Father. In Him man returns to his Father. The exaltation of Christ is already made on Calvary. Through the cross Son opens the door to Father’s house for His brothers. Acending to the heaven, Christ does not leave the disciples and foretells the coming of the Holy Spirit. That is why the Apostles after the Ascension did not suffer sorrow, but they glorified God and expected the Paraclete. The presence of the Master of Nazareth took on another dimension, a new form. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus still reveals the Father to the disciples, this is done especially in the Eucharist.

Przedstawiono różne formy liturgicznej celebracji Wniebowstąpienia oraz zwyczaje pozaliturgiczne, które wywarły wpływ na kształt pobożności ludowej.
    The paper focuses on presenting the liturgical origins of the Solemnity of the Ascension. Different names of the feast are pointed out and the testimonies of the oldest celebrations are recalled. The paper discusses also various forms of celebration and folk customs associated with Solemnity of the Ascension over years.

    El objeto de este estudio es el modo de entender la verdad sobre la resurrección y ascensión de Jesús en el lenguaje religioso y teológico contemporáneo, y la consecuencia de dicho entendimiento en la comprensión de la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía. Un ejemplo de este nexo es la concepción de S. Agustín sobre la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía, que tuvo gran influencia en la teología posterior. La correcta comprensión de presencia eucarística de Cristo necesita una debida síntesis teológica, en la que se tendrá en cuenta los siguientes aspectos: vencer los reduccionismos en la visión de la verdad sobre la resurrección del Señor; la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía no es una simple presencia „del lugar” sino de comunión; dicha presencia es una anticipación de la presencia de Cristo en su plenitud escatológica lo que subraya la dimensión eclesial del misterio eucarístico; la Eucaristía tampoco será entendida como simple „elevación hacia arriba”, sino que implica e invita a edificar el Cuerpo de Cristo, de modo que, por el servicio, un cristiano será un intrumento de la presencia salvadora del Señor en el mundo.
