    Not all children develop properly. Therefore it is important to detect as early as possible deficits in their development and beginning systematic therapeutic intervention. Support the psychomotor development may be individual or group. It is necessary to take into account the needs and possibilities of the child. Therapeutic work contributes to leveling cognitive and social-emotional deficits. Properly matched methods and techniques of works with children decide about the effectiveness of therapy. This study presents the basic assumptions of several methods whose effectiveness has been confirmed in working with children with developmental disabilities.

    I have yet to be persuaded that what arts therapists are doing with their clients either actually counts as art—rather than an applied form of occupational therapy—or seems likely to have any long-term effect on easing their suffering, other than by distraction and temporary companionship. I don’t for a moment doubt the relevance of the arts, properly so called, for individual and collective wellbeing—one of the aims of this paper is to spell out what that might mean—but an art practice structured around the conventions of psychoanalysis seems to me entirely mistaken because, as a basis of legitimacy, it favours rationality and modelling over feeling and making good things. Rational, analytical ways of knowing are a direct contradiction to the intuitive and imaginative procedures of art, where touch rather than talk does all the work. The arts offer to effect change in the patient from within rather than from without, via empathetic attunement between the therapist and the patient rather by than argument and persuasion on the one hand or compliance on the other.
    Nie jestem do końca przekonany, że to co zwykle arteterapeuci robią ze swoimi klientami jest rzeczywiście sztuką a nie pewną formą terapii zajęciowej. Również nie mam pewności, czy te działania mogą mieć jakikolwiek długotrwały wpływ na złagodzenie ich cierpienia, inny niż tylko ten, który osiągamy poprzez zwykłe przesunięcie uwagi i zapewnienie chwilowego towarzystwa w działaniu. Przy czym ani na chwilę nie zwątpiłem w istotny związek sztuki z indywidualnym i zbiorowym dobrostanem, z zastrzeżeniem, że mówimy o tych formach i aktywnościach, które zostały sztuką nazwane właściwie. Jednym z celów tego tekstu jest wyartykułowanie, jak można rozumieć to znaczenie. Praktyka arteterapeutyczna zbudowana wokół konwencji, którymi posługuje się psychoanaliza wydaje mi się całkowicie błędna, ponieważ u legitymizujących ją podstaw, leży racjonalność i modelowanie, które są przedkładane nad odczuwanie i tworzenie dobrych artystycznych form. Racjonalne, analityczne sposoby poznawania widzę jako całkowite zaprzeczenie intuicyjnych i wyobrażeniowych procedur poznawania w sztuce, gdzie - jak jestem przekonany - dotyk [ang. touch] a nie rozmowa, ma znaczenie terapeutyczne. Sztuka oferuje zmianę w pacjencie raczej w działaniach prowadzonych “od wewnątrz” niż “z zewnątrz” procesów twórczych. Jest to możliwe dzięki empatycznemu zestrojeniu terapeuty z pacjentem, a nie dzięki argumentom i perswazjom z jednej strony a posłuszeństwu z drugiej.

    Artykuł porusza problem wrażliwości emocjonalnej i społecznej niezbędnej w zawodzie nauczyciela i demonstruje metody jej kształtowania. Omawia pojęcia podstawowe z tym związane, takie jak: wrażliwość emocjonalna, społeczna, moralna, sensoryczna, empatia, edukacja kulturalna oraz prezentuje autorski program „Edukacji kulturalnej z arteterapią” adresowany do studentów pedagogiki. Zgodnie z koncepcją H. Reada oraz I. Wojnarowej drogą do kształcenia wrażliwości jest wychowanie przez sztukę. Autorka uważa, że nie powinno ono zakończyć się na etapie nauki szkolnej, ponieważ kontakt ze sztuką może też być formą dydaktyki dorosłych – andragogiki. Nauczyciele, podobnie jak inni zawodowo pomagający, muszą być wrażliwi na problemy człowieka w skali jednostkowej i globalnej, a te można dostrzec bardziej wyraziście poprzez pryzmat sztuki. Studenci edukacji przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej przygotowywani są do pełnienia roli arteterapeuty. W trakcie zajęć doświadczają na sobie wpływu arteterapii. Arteterapia receptywna w wypadku biblioterapii polega na: czytaniu tekstów literatury pięknej – poezji i prozy, formą arteterapii wizualnej jest oglądanie wybranych dzieł sztuki i refleksja nad ich znaczeniem, formą muzykoterapii – słuchanie wybranych utworów muzyki klasycznej. Podstawą teoretyczną arteterapii opartej na kulturze jest autorska koncepcja kulturoterapii. W artykule podane są przykłady zajęć poświęconych analizowaniu różnych stanów emocjonalnych i wypowiedzi studentów opisujące wrażenia i emocje pojawiające się pod wpływem różnych dzieł sztuki.
    The author examines the issue of emotional and social sensibility – one which is essential in the teaching profession and present in social, moral, empathic and cultural education. She also outlines her proprietary programme of “Cultural Education with Arts Therapy” addressed to pedagogical students. According to Read and Wojnar’s conception of “Education through Art”, it is to be found by improving sensibility. In the author’s opinion, “education through art” is not obliged to end together with the period of school education since contact with art can be useful as a didactic tool for adults. Teachers, just as other professional helpers such as art therapists, should be responsive to human problems at the individual and global scale. Students of Primary Education are prepared to fulfill the role of the art therapist. They are familiarized in the course of the classes with chosen methods of art therapy and experience the influence of art therapy on themselves. Receptive art therapies in the case of bibliotherapy consists of the reading of belle-lettres, poetry and stories, whilst in the case of visual art therapy it means considering pictures and for music therapy, listening to classical music. The theoretical base of the programme is the author’s conception of Culture Therapy. The article includes the narratives of students and their impressions evoked by works of art.

    A growing number of arts therapists around the world work in schools, but information on their practices is limited. The aim of this work is to examine the theoretical influences and therapeutic trends prevalent in Czech educational institutions. Data obtained from 142 respondents were collected using the “Practice of Arts Therapies” questionnaire. Based on a statistical analysis of the responses, the results show that therapists prefer predominantly humanistic trends with a wide range of other therapeutic influences based on assimilative integration tendencies. Contrary to the initial assumptions, it was found that there is little difference in the preferences for trends in different work environments. The results can be used for international comparisons of arts therapies in the educational environment, as they seem to be an important area of interdisciplinary practice associated with education.

    One of the functions of art is understanding an individual and his or her potential. Art provides an individual with proper conditions and gives new opportunities to function regardless of one’s age and disability. The purpose of this article is to get the reader acquainted with the significance of qualitative research especially in the context of arts-based research in special needs education and music therapy. In theoretical part, the authoress will attempt to answer the question of what benefits this research method brings and why it is useful. What is to be described at the beginning quite extensively is the situation of research in special education and music therapy as a scientific discipline. This presentation will smoothly lead the reader to the essence of article, i.e. the arts-based research method. The definitions of arts-based research will be presented together with differences resulting from defining the notions connected with art. Examples will also be provided of research based on art resulting from the combination of two disciplines such as special needs education and music therapy. Moreover, the authoress will demonstrate her own research based on art with the application of music which emphasizes the significance of changes that occur within the music therapy process. Finally, the arguments which emphasize the significance of artsbased research will be mentioned.

    Artykuł przybliża aktualną problematykę dotyczącą wdrażania nowych mediów do arteterapii przez sztuki plastyczne. Autorka przedstawia zróżnicowane podejścia do arteterapii w wymiarze polskim i międzynarodowym, włącznie z najnowszymi tendencjami w pojmowaniu tej formy wsparcia i rozwoju. Przybliżone zostały zagadnienia obecności technologii cyfrowych w pracy terapeutycznej, jak i w zakresie e-terapii. Bieżące kwestie pojawiania się nowych mediów w arteterapii przez sztuki plastyczne zobrazowano przykładami z praktyki własnej. Autorka prezentuje własne obszary badawcze i autorskie działania skierowane do różnorodnych odbiorców: dzieci i młodzieży szkolnej, studentów, a nawet osób w wieku starszym. Przedstawione autorskie tematy i realizacje zadań opartych na nowych mediach pokazane są w kontekście najnowszych trendów występujących w światowej arteterapii. Artykuł dowodzi mocnej pozycji rozwijającego się przekazu arteterapeutycznego za pomocą narzędzi cyfrowych, z uwzględnieniem praktycznego, bezproblemowego pod kątem technologicznym korzystania z licznych rozwiązań i technologii. Zaprezentowane przykłady zastosowania nowych mediów stały się okazją do wdrażania najnowszych trendów w działania o charakterze edukacyjno-terapeutycznym.
    The paper familiarizes readers with the current issues concerning implementation of new media in the art therapy realized through fine arts. The author presents a diverse approach to the issue of art therapy in the national and international context, including the latest trends in understanding of this form of support and development. The issues of prevalence of digital technology in therapeutic work and in the field of e-therapy were discussed. The current issues of emergence of new media in the field of the art therapy realized through fine arts were demonstrated on the examples of own practice. The author presents own research areas and own actions aimed at a diverse range of recipients: children and the school youth, students and even the elders. The presented own research topics and realization of the tasks based on the new media are demonstrated in the context of the latest trends in the international art therapy. The paper demonstrates the strong position of the developing art therapy communication utilizing digital tools and takes into consideration the practical and technologically effortless use of various solutions and technologies. The presented examples of use of new media present an opportunity for implementation of the latest trends in the realization of educational and therapeutic tasks.

    Przez wiele lat pracowano nad metodami terapeutycznymi w celu poprawy jakości życia osób ze spektrum autyzmu. Jedną z najnowocześniejszych form terapeutycznych jest arteterapia. Proces twórczy pobudza obie półkule mózgowe jednocześnie, skutkuje to rozwojem dziecka przede wszystkim w sferze emocjonalnej, poznawczej, a te z kolei wpływają na poprawę sfery społecznej. Ponadto dziecko autystyczne mające problemy z opanowaniem oraz wyrażaniem swoich emocji poprzez rysowanie, malowanie bądź rzeźbienie ma okazję do nauczenia się, jak radzić sobie z napięciem emocjonalnym. Analizując wytwory artystyczne dzieci autystycznych, można nie tylko odnieść wrażenie estetyczne, ale również zauważyć ich ukryte treści. Stanowią one indywidualną opowieść o emocjach, przeżyciach oraz głęboko ukrytych niepokojach. Rysunki te odznaczają się dużą prostotą, schematycznością oraz minimalistyczną formą. Dzięki znajomości znaczeń użytych środków wyrazu możemy spróbować poznać cechy osobowościowe, charakter, zamiłowania oraz historię dziecka. Spektrum autyzmu znacznie utrudnia rozwój rysunkowy, jednak nie wyklucza go całkowicie. Głównym celem artykułu jest wyciągnięcie wniosków z analizy prac rysunkowych dziecka autystycznego w kontekście jego zróżnicowanych emocji. Autorka, bazując na literaturze przedmiotu oraz własnych doświadczeniach i zainteresowaniach, opisuje ukryty w rysunkach świat emocji dziecka ze spektrum autyzmu.
    For many years, therapeutic methods have been developed to improve the quality of life for people on the autism spectrum. One of the most modern therapeutic forms is art therapy. The creative process stimulates both cerebral hemispheres at the same time. This results in the emotional and cognitive development of the child and this, in turn, improves the child’s social development. In addition, an autistic child who has difficulty controlling and expressing his or her emotions through drawing, painting or sculpting has the opportunity to learn how to deal with emotional tension. When analyzing the artistic creations of autistic children, one can not only get an aesthetic impression, but also notice their hidden content. They represent an individual story of emotions, experiences and deeply hidden anxieties. The drawings are characterized by their simplicity, schematic and minimalist form. By knowing the meanings of the expressions used, we can try to get to know the child’s personality traits, character, passions and history. Autism spectrum disorder hinders drawing development considerably, but does not rule it out completely. The main aim of the article, ‘The importance of artistic expression in expressing the emotions of a child on the autism spectrum – a case study’, is to draw conclusions from the analysis of the drawing works of an autistic child in the context of the child’s varied emotions. The author of the article, drawing on the literature on the subject and her own experiences and interests, describes the world of emotions of a child with autism spectrum hidden in the drawings.
