Discussed is moral aspect of aggression from the perspective of the following psychological theories: instinct-impulse, evolutionary, socio-cognitive and learning. The results of recent research on moral evaluation of aggressive behavior and aggressor are cited. Described are the criteria that are followed by people for assessing violent acts and those under which some persons are defined as “bad” and others as “good”. Presented is the issue of contemporary approach to the hostile and instrumental aggression, and of their effectiveness as the modes of action. The harmfulness of aggressive behavior, as well as some of the positive aspects of this phenomenon, are indicated.

The current study is aimed at creating a psychological profile of characteristics of aggressive and self-aggressive behaviour exhibited by females with bulimia, as well as conducting a comparative analysis of the differences between bulimic females and individuals displaying no mental disorders in terms of the major characteristics of aggressive and selfaggressive behaviour. The methods: the Buss-Durkee Hostility-Guilt Inventory, the Psychological Inventory of Aggression Syndrome by Zbigniew. B. Gaś. The data analysis revealed significant differences between the females suffering from bulimia and the subjects displaying no mental disorders in terms of the level of aggressive and self-aggressive tendencies. It was discovered that the control participants exhibited an appropriate level of aggressive behaviour as opposed to the subjects with bulimia.

Aggression can be evaluated in a variety of ways. Among the self-reported measures, the Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory (Buss, Durkee, 1957) has been one of the most popular questionnaire. On the basis of this previous work, Buss and Perry proposed a psychometrically improved and updated measure of aggression: The Aggression Questionnaire (Buss, Perry, 1992). The Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPQA) has quickly become the gold-standard for the measurement of aggression. The original version of the BPAQ contains 29 items and is designed to assess four dispositional components of aggression: Physical Aggression, Verbal Aggression, Anger, and Hostility. However, the BPAQ scale has been extensively validated, the validation focused, mainly, on samples of college students. In this study, exploratory and confirmatory models were evaluated among a sample of 3990 Polish participants (aged from 10 to 79 years). A 5-factor structure resulted in the exploratory analysis and 5-factor structure showed acceptable fits in confirmatory analyses. Implications and limitations of these solutions are discussed.

The following article is devoted to an issue of aggressive and auto-aggressive behaviors, which are faced by the therapists of children with developmental dysfunctions. Therapists often face a problem of aggression, both physical, verbal, direct and indirect. Among developmental dysfunctions, mentioned in the article, there are Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, mild mental disability, Down’s Syndrome and ADHD. The aim of the test is to share experiences connected with aggressive and autoaggressive behaviors presented by children with developmental issues and to present exemplary interventions, which were effective in given situations. Described examples of difficult behaviors of children, as well as ways of dealing with them all come from the author’s personal experiences.

The development of horse – drawn transport, and later the development of cartage meant that different groups of travelers started to participate in traffic. The size of vehicles, their engines’ power, diversity of facilities were the first elements of the division into ‘the better ones’ and ‘the worse ones’. This division already caused antagonisms that inspired aggression. The second group of factors generating aggression are differences in the level of road politeness. These became particularly visible especially after transport has become international, when the phenomenon of culture mixing appeared. Finally, the third group are psychological causes that are attached to participants themselves. Symbolic selection in driving tests candidates (or, very often, lack of such selection) leads to the situation when people with no imagination and no responsibility sit behind the wheel. Unfortunately, it is impossible to eliminate the influence of drivers’ personal experience and personal problems on road rage. The last factor that influences road rage is alcoholism of traffic participants.

The Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire
Opis:
This paper aims at exploring differences in levels of aggression of men and women in different age groups (10 to 79 years). Additionally, it provides information on psychometrie characteristics of Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (Amity version) by age. Sexual selection theory proposes that sex difference in physical aggression are due to greater male than female competition for reproduction which leads males to use more risky strategies. In line with the theory, the largest divergence between men’s and womens physical aggression was observed in the age group 16-22. The differences were smaller in both younger and older age groups. The results seem to support the theory of sexual selection, but their validity should be further confirmed on larger samples, in particular, with a bigger share of older individuals (above 55 years old).

The author refers to some psychological definitions of aggression and violence, underlining the ingroup processes responsible for aggressive behaviour that constitute the phenomenon of positive social identification with normal or criminal groups. Belonging to a group results in divisions into ‘us – them’, ‘locals – strangers’, the latter becoming frequent objects of aggression. Aggressive activities may be blocked by human identity markers (social, psychological, national and ethnic). Some categorising results from such personality traits as ethnocentrism (egoism), authoritarianism and chauvinism. In view of the above-mentioned considerations the paper discusses the process of changing of individual and group identity within the processes of European integration and globalization.

The article presents the results of studies on the level of aggression in areas such as emotional and physical self-aggression, displaced, verbal, indirect and physical aggression, hostility towards the environment, unconscious aggressive tendencies, control of aggressive behaviour, and retaliation tendencies in a group of underage girls and boys, compared with a control sample of socially adapted young people. The study established statistically significant differences and trends in the scope of differentiation in aggressive tendencies in the studied groups. Based on the research the author presents practical applications in the form of prophylactic recommendations, concerning the use of educational measures by courts with respect to juveniles who commit punishable acts using violence.

This article reviews the current research of literature on aggression in childhood and adolescence. The research suggests that a common characteristic of all seriously aggressive children is that they have intense negative effects on the people who interact with them. The longitudinal research has indicated that aggressive behavior is quite stable during childhood and adolescence, and aggression is more consistent over time than most of the other behavioral patterns. Furthermore, aggressive children are referred to school interventions and mental health services at higher rates than children with other forms of psychopathology. The analysis of aggressive behavior of children and adolescents from clinical and developmental points of view is important for assessment of the factors related to a child’s aggressive tendencies and a comprehensive treatment plan design.

Driving a car is a task demanding particular competencies, which include: knowledge, skills and specific personality and mental traits. Every driver should posses: knowledge about traffic law regulations, practical skills of driving a vehicle, ability to predict traffic situations and, what is especially important, self-diagnosis ability. Those skills determine driving safety. Paper presents dangerous and aggressive driving behaviour on the roads. It describes characteristic features of drivers and type of offenses committed by them, as well as recognition of the scale and reasons for aggression in the road traffic. Paper includes detailed research results analyses of aggressive behaviour and its evaluation by road traffic controllers - police (408 persons), and by drivers participating in the demerit points reduction scheme (504 persons). Survey results indicate that drivers consciously break traffic law, underestimate danger, overestimate their own abilities, feel unpunished and they don't know traffic regulations well. All results shows that aggression is a frequent problem, especially concerning 18-39 year old group with wrong attitudes towards others road users. Importance of psychological testing of drivers, necessity of psycho-educational and preventive actions was pointed out in view of these circumstances. Research has allowed determining psychological reasons of the drivers' attitude and behaviour. Conclusions suggest undertaking activities and campaigns whose purpose is to change dangerous attitudes and habits and create re-education systems for the drivers who regularly break road traffic regulations.

Nowadays, there is a lot of research regarding two problems. One of them concerns a shaping of an identity in a period of adolescence and another one refers to aggression among young people. Researchers look for conditions of both phenomena in temperamental traits, personality, family, school, and peer environment specification. In the current research, attention was focused on a relationship between identity processes and entering a role of a perpetrator and a victim of aggression. An experimental group consisted of 167 adolescents aged between 16 and 17 years old. The following measurement scales were used: Mini-DIA (The Mini Direct Indirect Aggression Inventory, Österman, Björkqvist, 2008) and DIDS (The Dimensions of Identity Development Scale, Luyckx et al., 2008). The study’s results suggest a similarity in identity processes among girls and boys and a differentiating gender role in entering a role of a perpetrator and a victim. Moreover, there were identified significant relationships between an intensity of identity processes and experiences of a perpetrator and a victim.

The permanent increase in aggression in children, youth and adults accounts for the urgent need of searching for the most effective ways of controlling and reducing this dangerous phenomenon. This article presents a selection of methods, based on the ground of applied psychology and aimed at dealing with the problem mentioned above. The author describes the mechanism, called ‘katharsis’, which serves a purpose of relieving accumulated, negative emotions, emphasizing the fact that giving vent to one’s anger does not always lead to expected results. The same refers to punishing aggressive behaviour. The immediate results of this process are usually superficial and do not always mean a stable change in character. Finally, the punishment – to be effective requires certain condiotions to be fulfilled, which is very often neglected. The work contains a set of already tested, interventional programs, intended to correct improper behaviour of children and youth. The particular purposes are: teaching empathy, training the ability of coping with conflicts, modelling on pro- social behaviours, building basic values, opposing mobbing at schools, dealing with negative emotions and creating an internal interventional program at schools. The range of psychological offers, aimed at reducing aggression is wide. They are all worth popularizing, although it is good to remember that it is always better to prevent evil, than deal with its cosequences.

The research project was designed to diagnose the phenomenon of aggression among the students of the last level of primary school. The research was directed by the Regional Centre of Social Policy of the Marshal’s Office in Łódź´ and run over the year 2002. It relates to the following research problems: - the place of contact with violence and aggression, - the most common indications of violence and aggression at school, - the individual experience of violence and aggression in different psychological environments, - the expectations of help. As far as the scientific method is concerned, a special questionnaire was constructed. It was addressed to the students of the sixth class of primary school in province of Ło´dz´, representing different psychological environments: from urban to rural. The total number of students, who participated in the research project was 455 (100%); 49% of girls and 51% of boys. The detailed analysis of the results of the research indicated school as the most common place of facing with the phenomenon of violence and aggression. Undesirable behaviours appear in all the school societies and call for the corrective treatment. The research revealed the differences between sexes and showed the general tendency of dealing with aggression: 57% of students declare their willingness to learn the techniques of self – defence, they also search for help in the school environment: 52% of students count for friend’s aid and 47% expect help from the teachers. The author suggest three courses of corrective treatment: - rebuilding of the educational environment, - educating the teachers in preventing, recognizing and acting against violence and aggression, - teaching the ability of dealing with conflicts and difficulties.

This article shows the importance of electronic aggression manifested by students from younger classes. Based on the literature on the subject, the basic concepts related to cyberspace were presented. Attention was drawn to the need to prevent manifestations of aggressive behaviors that are visible in the sphere of physical education of children. The types of aggression are indicated and the importance of electronic aggression is explained. Conclusions were put forward resulting from my own observations and research on this issue.

The paper proves that the problem of aggressive behaviour of schoolchildren under the conditions of nowadays life is of a particular importance so far as pedagogical experience confirms that the tendency to increasing of the aggression level among the children of school age are observed; this influences on their relations with parents, teachers, age-mates and causes discomfort for them and also some difficulties in the process of study. According to scientific resource a child lives, acts, feels, thinks, speaks, imagines, remembers in the state of aggression. Long-lasting aggressive state can influence specifically on the way of its thinking (depression, paranoic manifestation etc.), on the development of imagination (drawing of fights, war, fire etc.), on speech (speaks rudely, insultingly, arrogantly etc.) and in general on the personality. The presence of aggression in the child's behaviour always makes great difficulties during communication but the aggressive tendencies should not be appraised only as negative. Aggression can increase on the background of increasing the child's activeness as well as decrease. It can manifest situatively in all children and it's not always indicates the disorder regarding a personality sphere of a child. So aggression can help a child to develop the initiaitve soul. But also it can provoke isolation and hostility. In our research work we are trying to observe the problem of children's aggression catholicly that is why we be carrying out the research in its different spheres: "I-Personality", "I – in the family", "I – in the society". We also have predicted that the comparative analysis of modelling peculiarities of the aggressive behaviour will allow us to discover common and different qualities of aggression manifestation in children with typical development and disordered speech. The materials of the research of the constatation phase will help to determine the directions of compensation and correction of the marked-out states and to form the studying-preventive technique for junior schoolchildren due to them. The analysis of the results of scientific works systematically and logically combines the features of its carrying, diagnostic tools of aggression and evaluation criteria of qualities of completing tasks into a modified "Plot and situational-illustrated" technique which is aimed at the study of aggression in primary school children with different levels of speech development in three main aspects of the study: "I – in the family," "I – in the society" and "I-Personality". The analysis of scientific and methodological sources allowed us to distinguish three types and six subtypes of aggression, and to identify their symptoms: the self-regulated type included the controlled subtype and the competitive subtype; the latent type – the defence subtype and the depressive subtype; the behavioral type – the demonstrative subtype and the physical subtype. The peculiarities of modelling of aggressive behaviour types in primary schoolchildren with typical psychophysical development, with phonetic disordered speech (PhDS), phonetic-phonemic disordered speech (PhPhDS) and mildly manifested general speech disorderes (MMGSD) are discovered.

The article addresses the issue of risk factors for high aggression of women taking action of a violent nature. The study group consisted of 44 women selected on the basis of studies in Family Diagnostic and Consultation Centres, being remanded in custody, or imprisoned. The study examined the dependencies between intensification of aggression and such groups of variables as: educational circumstances, family socialisation conditions, manifestations of demoralization in childhood and adolescence periods, current life circumstances, demographic characteristics, and psychological variables. The application of multiple regression analysis allowed for distinguishing three main factors of women’s aggression (negativism, attitude to school, and theftin childhood/adolescence periods). On the basis of the research findings, psychological and pedagogical directions of prophylactic action were put forward.

Research on bullying in schools (1) are taken mainly in the quantitative methodology and (2) are conducted mainly on the regular basis in order to diagnose the phenomenon, evaluating its size and severity, as well as its determinants. The main aim of article is to present results of retrospective study on the experience of peer violence (e.g. the bully, bullied and bystander) at school (primary, middle and high school), with a particular focus on written statements of respondents. The data source was autobiographical memory of young adults. The study was conducted in the current academic year 2014/2015 among pedagogy students of the specialties of teacher education. As a result, the retrospective qualitative data about school experience of young adults were collected. Accept descriptions revealed a variety of personal experiences of respondents associated with peer violence at school, mainly from the perspective of its bystanders and victims. Data also provide a unique account of how adults view and perceived their school experiences.

Terapeuci często zmagają się z problemem agresji zarówno fizycznej, werbalnej, bezpośredniej, jak i pośredniej. Wśród dysfunkcji rozwojowych, o których jest mowa w artykule, można wymienić autyzm, zespół Aspergera, upośledzenie umysłowe w stopniu lekkim, zespołem Downa i ADHD. Celem pracy jest dzielenie się doświadczeniem związanym z zachowaniami agresywnymi i autoagresywnymi przejawianymi przez dzieci z trudnościami rozwojowymi oraz podanie przykładowych interwencji, które były skuteczne w pokonaniu przedstawionych trudności. Podane przykłady trudnych zachowań dzieci, jak również sposoby radzenia sobie z nimi pochodzą z doświadczeń autora artykułu.
The following article is devoted to an issue of aggressive and auto-aggressive behaviors, which are faced by the therapists of children with developmental dysfunctions. Therapists often face a problem of aggression, both physical, verbal, direct and indirect. Among developmental dysfunctions, mentioned in the article, there are Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, mild mental disability, Down’s Syndrome and ADHD. The aim of the test is to share experiences connected with aggressive and autoaggressive behaviors presented by children with developmental issues and to present exemplary interventions, which were effective in given situations. Described examples of difficult behaviors of children, as well as ways of dealing with them all come from the author’s personal experiences.

Aim: The aim of the study was an analysis of a relationship between parental attitudes and a tendency to impulsive aggression with a consideration of a mediating role of alexithymia. Method: The experiment used the following scales: Parental Bonding Instrument, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, and The Aggression Questionnaire, BPAQ. The study’s sample was a randomly selected group of people. There were 197 participants aged between 22 and 43 years old (M = 34.42; SD = 5.47). There were slightly more females (53.8%) than males. In terms of educational history, there were mostly people with higher education (74.1%), there rest were participants with mid-level education (14.2%) and at a bachelor’s level (11.7%). Results: As a result of conducted analysis, correlations, regression, and mediation, a moderate relationship between maternal control and difficulties with emotional identification and father’s control and alexithymia as a whole and, separately, with an operative way of thinking were identified. Maternal control is associated with a development of a tendency to hostility. In turn, father’s control increases a tendency to physical aggression, hostility, and anger. Alexithymia is strongly connected with physical aggression, hostility and anger and is a significant mediator in a relationship between maternal and father’s control and various aspects of aggression, increasing its intensity. Age correlates positively with alexithymia intensity. Conclusions: The current experiments suggests an existence of strong relationships between parental attitudes, mainly control, and a tendency to a development of alexithymia and also a tendency to various types of aggression. Alexithymia, blocking processes of emotional identification and verbalisation, results in a language no longer serving regulation and impulse control, increasing therefore a risk of aggressive behaviours. The current experiment suggests, that in the following research, there should be included also other dimensions of emotional regulation when looking at relationships between parental attitudes, alexithymia, and aggression.

Opis:
Peer aggression, when escalated and regular, has negative consequences for proper psychosocial development. The main aim of this study was to identify classes among middle school students according to similarity in terms of experiencing particular forms and manifestations of peer aggression. Data were collected using a proprietary questionnaire, from which 10 questions forming indicators of experienced aggression (five forms, two manifestations each) were used for analysis. A total of 1.050 middle school students (525 boys and girls each) aged 13 and 14 participated in the study. The students most often experienced verbal and relational aggression, and least often sexual aggression. Boys were more likely to report experiencing physical and verbal aggression (being insulted), while girls reported being the target of gossip and cyber aggression (offensive comments). Using Latent Class Analysis, we analyzed a model with six classes as follows: Low all, High verbal and relational, High physical and verbal, High all without sexual, High all and High sexual, cyber and relational. The results show that the phenomenon of peer aggression is not homogeneous and that the design of preventive measures should take into account the specificity of the experiences of its victims.
Agresja jest wpisana w relacje rówieśnicze. Jednak nasilona i realizowana w sposób systematyczny, niesie ze sobą negatywne skutki dla prawidłowego rozwoju psychospołecznego. Głównym celem badań było wyłonienie wśród uczniów klas ze względu na podobieństwo w zakresie doświadczania poszczególnych form i przejawów agresji rówieśniczej. Dane zgromadzono za pomocą autorskiego kwestionariusza, z którego do analizy użyto 10 pytań tworzących wskaźniki doświadczanej agresji (pięć form, po dwa przejawy). W badaniu wzięło udział 1050 uczniów gimnazjum (po 525 chłopców i dziewcząt) w wieku 13 i 14 lat. Uczniowie najczęściej doświadczali agresji werbalnej i relacyjnej, a najrzadziej przejawów agresji seksualnej. Chłopcy częściej informowali o doświadczaniu agresji fizycznej i werbalnej (bycie wyzywanym), a dziewczęta o doświadczeniu plotkowania na swój temat i cyberagresji (obraźliwe komentarze). Wykorzystując Analizę Klas Latentnych, poddano analizie model z sześcioma klasami: Wszystkie wskaźniki niskie, Wysoka werbalna i relacyjna, Wysoka fizyczna i werbalna, Wysokie wszystkie poza seksualną, Wysokie wszystkie wskaźniki oraz Wysoka seksualna, cyber i relacyjna. Uzyskane rezultaty pokazują, że zjawisko agresji rówieśniczej nie jest homogeniczne, a projektowanie działań profilaktycznych powinno uwzględniać specyfikę doświadczeń jej ofiar.

The study presents results of research conducted by means of the BPAQ and Cyber-Bullying Tolerance questionnaires on a sample of 788 elementary school pupils of the 8th and 9th grades. It shows an increase in verbal aggression, hostility and anger in the pupils. In terms of gender, the increase was confirmed in verbal aggression in boys and physical aggression in girls. Tolerance to cyber-bullying as a form of aggressive behaviour increases with the development of science and technology and the increase in pupils´ aggressive behaviour. Knowledge of manifestations and causes of pupils´ aggressive behaviour is the basis for the educational work of teachers and other professionals.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present research findings focused on exploring effective methods for coping with challenging situations experienced by gamers during gameplay. The identification of difficulties associated with the occurrence of antisocial behaviors in the form of electronic aggression (e.g., retarding, chat-based verbal abuse) aligns the conducted research with the positive concept of prevention- resilience. According to this concept, the development of an individual’s social competence determines their positive functioning in society. The study used the cognitive-behavioral method of Aggression Replacement Training, respecting its high effectiveness in other countries. Equipping gamers with social skills (e.g., dealing with accusations of cheating in games) appears to be an efficient method in supporting the development of their resilience. The experiment was conducted among junior high school computer gamers (N=48), selected from a pool of 114 individuals; and it explored the role of ART in students’ coping strategies during challenging situations.

Purpose:To analyze the relationship between the psychological condition of representatives from various professional groups of healthcare workers, the degree of their exposure to patient aggression, as well as with the duration of their professional experience.Materials and methods:Study participants (n=1498) were employed at open and closed healthcare units within Podlaskie province: 493 nurses, 504 midwives and 501 physicians. The Work Features Evaluation Questionnaire and General Health Evaluation Questionnaire GHQ28 were applied, and the psychological condition of medical staff was examined based on a 30-question surveyResults:When analyzing all of the groups of medical personnel, the mean level of exposure to patient aggression fell within the moderate range. The highest level of aggression was experienced amongst nurses, while the lowest – amongst midwives. The analyzed groups did not differ significantly in terms of the level of their psychological condition. With the exception of physicians, no significant association was observed between levels of patient aggression and the psychological condition of the medical personnel. Amongst physicians, individuals who experienced lower levels of aggression were characterized by significantly higher psychological condition values when compared to personnel exposed to moderate or high levels of patient aggression. No significant linear correlations between psychological condition levels and the frequency of patient aggression or duration of professional experience were noted in any of the analyzed professional groups.Conclusions:A moderate level of exposure to patient aggression is not the main factor affecting the psychological condition of medical personnel.

The aim of this study was to analyze the causes of aggressive behaviors among children from rural areas, including the role of the environment. We used Pub Med and Google Scholar electronic databases for a literature review. Publications written in English and Polish were included in the analysis. The following keywords were used: aggression, children and adolescents, rural areas. Aggression is a type of negative behavior with the intent to harm or destroy. It usually arises as a direct or delayed effect of frustration or deprivation. The place of residence strongly affects the determinants of risky behaviors in children and adolescents. The most common risk factors for violence among rural children and adolescents include improper parental conduct, failures at school, health-threatening behaviors, violent scenes seen by young people in television programs and films. The changes currently transpiring in rural areas to the traditional family model and increased access to media determine the adoption of behaviors with elements of aggression; although it seems that in rural areas, these phenomena occur much more slowly than in cities. Thus far only a few studies indicated that aggression occurred more frequently among children and adolescents from rural areas. This phenomenon requires further research.

Aim:The study aimed at analyzing the relationship between parental attitudes and impulsive aggression, including the mediation role of alexithymia. Method: The following tools were used in the study:Parental Bonding Instru¬ment; Toronto Alexithymia Scale; Buss- Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). The study sample was randomly selected from the general population, 197 people aged 22 to 43 (M = 34.42; SD = 5.47) in total. The study sample included slightly more women (53.8%) than men. Considering the level of education, the largest number of people had higher educa-tion (74.1%); the others had secondary education (14.2%) or a bachelor’s degree (11.7%). Results:The analyses – correlation, regression, and mediation – showed a moderate relationship between maternal control and difficulties in identifying emotions as well as between fatherly control and overall alexithymia scores and also separately with one of its components – externally-oriented thinking. Maternal control is associated with the development of hostility. On the other hand, fatherly control increases the tendency to physical aggression, hostility, and anger. Alexithymia is strongly related to physical aggression, hostility, and anger and it is an important mediator between maternal and fatherly control and various aspects of aggression, increasing its intensity. Age correlates positively with the intensity of alexithymia. Conclusions:The study shows strong relationships between parental attitudes, mainly control, and the tendency to develop alexithymia and to various manifestations of aggression. Alexithymia blocks the processes of identification and verbalization of emotions. As a result, the language is no longer used to regulate and control excitement and thus, it increases the risk of aggressive behavior. The results show that future research on the relationship between parental attitudes, alexithymia and aggression shall also include other dimensions of the emotional regulation.

The authors in the contribution give the most common communication problems with aggressive patients during exit EMS. Aggression is a behavior that shows the efforts toward certain objects or hostility and viciousness with a strong intent to harm. The main symptoms include aggressive behavior, verbal expressions, physical assault, damage to things, self-mutilation, nonverbal expressions. The escalation of aggression and violence in society has gradually spilled over into clinics, hospitals, ambulances, the relationship between health professionals and patients. Rescuers intervene often in exposed conditions in the intervention happens that aggression present witnesses an incident, or the family or the patient himself is directed against them. In the field, the ambulance EMS encounter most often in with aggressive patients, second only to drugs and about 10% confrontation with aggression is the underlying disease. Strategies for coping with aggressive patients begin appropriate verbal intervention. This is governed by certain rules, including, but also control our non-verbal expressions and the surrounding environment. When treating aggressive patient, it is essential that we respect his individuality in a hospital is required multidisciplinary collaboration with other medical fields, and subsequently the patient to ensure comprehensiveness and continuity of nursing care. It is one of the professional skills not only rescue worker, but also other health professionals know how to deal with non-standard situations and handle it best.

Zjawisko agresji jest bardzo powszechne w życiu codziennym, występuje w różnych sytuacjach, zarówno wśród dzieci, jak i osób dorosłych i starszych niezależnie od płci, rasy, czy wieku. Ale to szczególnie pielęgniarki z racji udziału w życiu drugiego człowieka w ciężkim dla niego momencie życia często są narażone na kontakt z przejawami agresji, o czym mogą przekonać się już studenci pielęgniarstwa odbywający praktyki na szpitalnych oddziałach. Celem pracy była analiza postaw wobec agresji wśród studentów pielęgniarstwa studiów pierwszego stopnia, a także możliwości radzenia sobie z agresją przez studentów. Grupę badaną stanowiło 391 studentów pielęgniarstwa I, II i III roku studiów licencjackich. Badania przeprowadzono w Collegium Medicum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w Krakowie. W pracy wykorzystano kwestionariusze: Confidence in Coping with Patient Aggression Instrument oraz skalę Attitudes Towards Aggression Scale w wersji polskiej. Wykazano, że istnieje związek pomiędzy rokiem studiów a postawami wobec agresji. Mężczyźni posiadają wyższy poziom pewności siebie w radzeniu sobie z agresywnym pacjentem, niż kobiety, natomiast nie wykazano istotnych statystycznie różnic w postawach wobec agresji pomiędzy płciami. Istnieje potrzeba pomocy studentom pielęgniarstwa w rozbudowaniu postaw wobec agresji oraz umiejętności radzenia sobie z nią.
Aggression is widespread in everyday life and occurs in different situationsamong people regardless of gender, race or age. Because of thenursing intervention in human life at a difficult moment, nurses areoften exposed to the manifestation of patient’s aggression. Studentscan be convinced about it on the practice at different hospital wards.The aim of the study was to analyse attitudes towards aggression andalso ability to coping with aggression by nursing students on bachelordegree. The study group comprised 391 nursing students on I, II andIII year of bachelor degree. The research was conducted at the CollegiumMedicum of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow from Januaryto May 2017. In the research was used questionnaires: Confidencein Coping with Patient Aggression Instrument and Attitudes TowardsAggression Scale scale in polish version. Research has shown the correlationbetween the level of bachelor degree and attitudes towards aggression.Men have a higher level of self-confidence in coping withan aggressive patient, but there was no statistically significant differencein attitudes towards aggression between genders. There is a needto help nursing students to develop attitudes towards aggression andcoping skills.

Nowadays, increasingly more attention is being paid to the issue of aggressive behaviour, primarily owing to a stronger awareness of children’s rights and parents’ responsibility to promote them. The number of systematic studies dealing with the relational level and the area of covert aggressive behaviour is limited. In the past, studies investigating aggressive behaviour primarily focused on its most typical manifestation, i.e. physical aggression. In the postmodern period, however, experts have begun to explore different forms of aggressive behaviour which are particularly typical of girls. In this study the authors focused on various forms of covert violence to which girls in elementary schools are exposed. The descriptions of behaviours provided by both teachers and girls reveal a variety of forms of covert aggression among girls as well as a range of related incidents and their causes.

The Seville Statement on Violence (SSV) was originated by a launched UN-Committee of the International Society for Research on Aggression (ISRA) in the late seventies of the past century. Its final product, elaborated by more than twenty scholars from different scientific disciplines and from all continents, was presented in 1986 at the VI Coloquio Internacional sobre Cerebro y Agresión (CICA) in Seville. Three years later, it was endorsed by the 25th General Conference of UNESCO in Paris. Its main message was that violence, and consequently war too, are avoidable and aggressiveness can be tamed. The present article comments what were the main reasons which urged to elaborate it, and some difficulties found on the way.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to estimate the level of exposure and average intensity of aggression towards particular professional groups of healthcare workers. Materials and Methods: Study participants (n = 1498) were employed at open and closed healthcare units within Podlaskie Voivodeship: 493 nurses, 504 midwives and 501 physicians. The MDM Questionnaire was applied. Results: Aggression originating from patients was experienced by 92% of nurses, 86% of doctors, and 74% of midwives examined. Aggressive behavior of co-working physicians concerned 55% of midwives, 54% of nurses and 40% of physicians. The highest average levels of patient aggression, ranging between 2.20 and 3.31, were reported by nurses. Conclusions: Nurses are the group most exposed to most aggression forms and sources. Physicians are least exposed to aggression, except for aggression manifested by patients.

This study examined the effect of history of harsh parenting on readiness for aggression in young adults testing the mediating effect of emotional reaction to frustration and provocation that is assumed to arise in the context of a history of physical punishment and psychological aggression. Data were collected from 402 participants including 187 Poles (Mage = 9.5; SD = 1.2) and 215 Americans (Mage = 19.16, SD = 1.15). Participants reported retrospectively on corporal punishment and psychological aggression experienced during childhood. Based on self-report instruments, sensitivity to provocation and frustration and three patterns of readiness for aggression in adulthood were assessed. Contrary to the US sample, sensitivity to provocation and frustration were mediators in the Polish sample alone. The important role of contextual factors that define harsh parenting circumstances, such as cultural context and sex of the parent, are discussed.

The aim of this investigations was to point out that for the teachers, who evaluate students aggressive behavior, the important is their membership of the group category (the In-group vs the Out-group; the Conventional-group vs Unconventional-group). It was assumed: 1) the effect of the in group favoritism will not occur, 2) teachers evaluating student’s aggressive behavior of different social category will be guided by different standards. The investigations were performed in Kielce, in six schools (primary school, gymnasium and secondary school) and 112 teachers participated in this studies. The results show than the lack of effect of the in-group favoritism where there is a necessity to punish the aggressive behavior of student and in the level of punishment. Moreover, 1) the teachers have more intensity of the need for punishment student the Unconventional than the Conventional, 2) the normative standards are more important for teachers evaluating students aggressive behavior for In-group vs Out-group, but in the Unconventional – group vs Conventional group the allo-egocentric standards were preferred.

One of the most important ideas for the strategists of security is the idea of evil. This idea must be considered in two aspects: as a philosophical thought (as evil „in itself ”) and as related to concrete evil we can encounter. If we accept that the evil is real, it must be destroyed. If we accept that it is only a lack of good, should be completed to restore balance. The article spotlights the forgotten Zoroaster’s theories and some of their adaptations placed in the context of modern definitions of reality, human nature, hostility, war, and leadership. The summary encourages reflexion of the question what contemporary strategists can learn from Zoroaster.

Aggression Replacement Training was created by Arnold Goldstein. It is a world widespread therapeutic training aimed to prevent aggressive behaviour. Originally developed to work with youth from correctional institutions, now it is adopted to needs of a wide group of potential participants and can be used in various educational institutions like kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, childcare centres and psychiatric wards. This paper consists of four sections. The first section contains historical overview of the beginning of the program. Section two presents the idea of Aggression Replacement Training and subsequently a description of all three modules as well as CBT techniques and interventions used. Section three is a review of evaluation researches with conclusions for a practical usage and efficiency of this method. This section concentrates mostly on government reports concerning Aggression Replacement Training, which present possible benefits and savings related to the program. At the end of the article authors describe their own experiences with Aggression Replacement Training from their work with children and adolescents from department of child and adolescent psychiatry as well as some self-modifications to the program which were made to fit Aggression Replacement Training to a hospital environment.
Opracowany przez Arnolda Goldsteina Trening Zastępowania Agresji, stosowany w wielu krajach, jest programem terapeutycznym mającym zapobiegać zachowaniom agresywnym. Wdraża się go także jako program interwencyjny, ukierunkowany na zmianę zachowania osób agresywnych. Trening stworzono z myślą o pracy z młodzieżą z placówek poprawczych, a później przystosowano do potrzeb szerokiej grupy odbiorców, dzięki czemu można go realizować w różnych instytucjach oświaty (przedszkolach, szkołach podstawowych i średnich), placówkach opiekuńczo- -wychowawczych czy oddziałach psychiatrycznych. Artykuł składa się z czterech części. W pierwszej przedstawiono krótki rys historyczny, w drugiej – założenia i strukturę poszczególnych modułów. W opisie każdego z trzech modułów uwzględniono stosowane techniki i położono nacisk na poznawczo-behawioralny aspekt interwencji. Część trzecia obejmuje przegląd zagranicznych i polskich badań ewaluacyjnych. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na raporty instytucji rządowych – obrazujące wymierne korzyści materialne uzyskiwane dzięki wdrożeniu programu. Ostatnią część artykułu poświęcono doświadczeniom autorów z pracy według programu opartego na Treningu Zastępowania Agresji na oddziale psychiatrii dzieci i młodzieży. Omówiono modyfikacje wprowadzone do standardowego programu w celu dostosowania go do warunków pracy w szpitalu.

Aggression is a deliberate, proactive or impulsive, defensive or active act, expressed through the use of physical power or psychological pressure. As such, it is a significant element of violent behaviour. According to developmental stages, aggression is expressed in various forms and is associated with the specific ways of regulating the feelings of shame and anger. We assume that excessive exposure and interrupted contact in development can lead to a specific regulation of the affects of shame and anger in a person who, because he feels threatened, can transform these feelings into aggressive behaviour. In addition, the dysregulated affects can lead to the dissociation of emotional experience, and thus to the inability to feel empathy, which allows for deliberate or proactive aggressiveness. Furthermore, the text presents the basic conclusions of research in the neurobiological understanding of aggression. The aggressive action is characterized by the specific functioning of the prefrontal cortex, the amygdala, and the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Abuse in childhood and relational trauma are presented as a starting point for the specific functioning of the brain and specific affect regulation, which can also be associated with aggressive behaviour in adulthood.

Aim: This study investigates the impact of assertiveness training on assertiveness and self-esteem of high school students. Method: The study employs Quasi-experimental design where 130 participants aged 13-17 years were selected randomly and assigned into two groups as experimental (N-65) and control group (N-65). Tools: For this aim Assertiveness scale (AS) and Self-esteem questionnaire (RSE) were used. Training: During the treatment phase, the experimental group received assertiveness training of 5 weeks comprising two sessions per week, and each session took 45 minutes. After treatment both experimental and control groups are measured with post-tests. Results: The results show that assertiveness training has significantly increased the assertiveness and decreased the aggression and submission in the experimental group. Also the training has significantly increased the self-esteem of students. Conclusion: The obtained findings revealed an increase in the rate of self-esteem and assertiveness and decrease in the aggression and submission of students. Hence it proved that assertiveness training is significantly effective on the assertiveness, aggression, submission and self-esteem of students.

Z eskalacją cyberagresji stosowanej przez uczniów szkoły usiłują radzić sobie poprzez restrykcje, a nawet „wojnę”, powodując tym nakręcanie spirali przemocy. Tymczasem skuteczne przeciwdziałanie cyberagresji jest możliwe środkami typowo edukacyjnymi, czyli kształtując empatię i inne sprawności stanowiące przeciwwagę dla antyspołecznego zachowania. Wskazano na rolę szkoły w uczeniu odpowiedzialnego, zsocjalizowanego korzystania ze środków elektronicznej komunikacji.
Schools attempt to manage with the escalation of the electronic aggression applied by pupils, across restrictions and the war, causing this winding up of the spiral of the violence. The however effective counteraction of the electronic aggression is possible through the use of typical educational manners, that is increasing the empathic sensibility and other prosocial efficiencies counterpoising for the antisocial behaviour. The importance of the school in the teaching of the responsible, socialized use from devices of the electronic communication was discussed.

The article presents research on the frequently observed problem of aggression and violence in relationship. The authors point out the role of represented attachment style for the quality of relationships of young adults and the appearance of aggressive behaviors. At the same time they suggest that the role overload that occurs during early adulthood may lead to lower satisfaction with the implementation of the developmental tasks of this period – which in turn may result in a tendency to aggressive behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate the specific needs of young adults in partnership given their attachment style, satisfaction with the developmental tasks associated with family life and the expression of aggressive behavior. The main research problem was therefore the relationship between attachment style and the level of aggression and the relationship between the level of aggression and satisfaction with the implementation of developmental tasks. The study was conducted with the use of Kwestionariusz Stylów Przywiązaniowych (KSP) Mieczyslawa Plopy, Kwestionariusz Agresji (BPAQ) A. Buss and M. Perry and Skala Satysfakcji z Realizacji Zadań Rozwojowych (prepared by the authors). The study involved 45 pairs in different forms of relationship. The study confirmed the relationship between represented attachment style and the level of aggression and the relationship between satisfaction with the developmental tasks and the level of partners aggression towards each other.

This paper provides a review of selected research on verbal aggression and aggressive forms of humor that can be observed in educational settings. These include acts of verbal aggression committed in school and college classrooms by both students and teachers. This review focuses on the interpersonal model of verbal aggressiveness (Infante, Wigley, 1986), which is rarely used in psychology, as well as the typology of humor styles, with emphasis on the aggressive style of humor (Martin, Puhlik-Doris, Larsen, Gray, Weir, 2003). Another aim of this paper is to show that disparaging, hostile, and aggressive forms of humor can be considered a significant subtype of verbally aggressive behaviors and should be recognized as such in future studies concerning these behaviors (especially bullying). The final part of this paper provides several practical implications of the review, as well as suggestions for future research.

Background: It is well known that advancing age is accompanied by many negative feelings due to the feeling of loneliness and psychological emptiness, which leads to the individual feeling that society does not need him due to his weak physical abilities and thus this, will negatively affect healthy aging. Objective: The study aimed to investigate the effect of the leisure activities on the psychological stress among the elderly during Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak. Design: To achieve this, we used the quasi-experimental approach on a sample consisting of 54, with the average age of (65.4±2.3) years. Divided into two groups 27 as a control group and 27 as the experimental group and this sample was purposively selected. Because of the home quarantine and to reduce face-to-face interaction, we used a questionnaire to measure the psychological stress level by using the Google form. The study tool consisted of 7 paragraphs associated with depression and 6 paragraphs associated with anxiety, finally 6 paragraphs associated with aggression. Before applying the experiment, the psychological stress was measured among the study sample, and then the leisure activities program was sent to the experimental group by the WhatsApp application. The researchers used means, standard deviations, paired and independent sample t-test by using SPSS version 24 with a confidence level of 95% (p<0.05). Results: The results of the study have shown that the level of the psychological stress among both groups came with a high average in the pre-measurement, as well as the anxiety domain that were the most affected in a positive way through leisure activities practicing. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences between the pre and post measurement among experiment group and favor of the post measurement. Conclusion: the leisure activities practicing among the elderly have contributed positively to reducing the level of psychological stress represented by depression, anxiety.

This qualitative, longitudinal study directs attention to how adolescence – a time period that is already fraught with pressures and struggles for most – may be complicated by the presence of hirsutism, a putatively “sexdiscordant” marker. Attention is directed to the school-based experiences of a non-representative sample of 67 Canadian youth and 41 adult women who shared their recollections of how hirsutism had impacted their lives as adolescents. Although hirsute youth may seem well-situated to act as the trailblazers for the type of subversive crossings that Butler (1990) championed in Gender Trouble, our study find little to suggest that they would welcome this role. Rather, the obverse seems true. However, given the dependent status of adolescents in Western society, it might be entirely presumptuous to expect hirsute youth to behave as if dualistic thinking about sex, gender and sexuality did not exist when so many of their experiences will continuously remind them that it does.

This article is dedicated to the publications of the Russian legal scholars on the annexation of Crimea in 2014 or, according to the Russian version of the events “Crimea’s reunification with Russia.” Based on the factual circumstances of the case and the norms of Ukrainian constitutional law and international law, as well as modern approaches in international legal doctrine, the article analyses the key arguments of the Russian authorities and its legal scholarship, namely the following: 1) Russia’s use of force against Ukraine was necessary to defend Russian nationals and compatriots; 2) Russia’s use of force against Ukraine was a lawful response to the request for assistance by the legitimate leaders of Ukraine (V. Yanukovych) and Crimea (S. Aksyonov); 3) the events in Crimea were a secession, with the subsequent accession of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation as an independent state; 4) Ukraine disregarded the principle of the equality and self-determination of peoples vis-à-vis the residents of Crimea, therefore, Crimeans had the right to secede; 5) Crimea is historically Russian; 6) Ukraine had been exercising peaceful annexation of the peninsula since 1991, and Russia did not object to this (subject to certain conditions, which Ukraine violated in 2014); 7) the transfer of Crimea to Ukraine in 1954 was illegal. This article evaluates whether these claims hold any weight under international law. In addition the general trends in contemporary Russian approaches to international law are outlined and their effects on its foreign policy are examined.

Aggressive behavior poses a serious problem to medical staff. It has numerous consequences for the employees: they may experience anger, helplessness and even burnout, which ultimately affects the therapeutic process in a negative way. To reduce these negative consequences, a number of solutions are put forward, including training to prevent aggression. The content and programs of this type of training remain open, however, the literature recommends focusing on issues related to preventing the occurrence of aggressive behavior. The training is intended to provide the staff with adequate knowledge of how to deal with the aggressive behavior of patients, although this is not the only effect. It also affects the attitudes and sense of self-efficacy of participants. The effectiveness of the training in this area is measurable. Appropriate tools are used to this end, provided by the trainers to the trainees. However, one should take into account the aspects of intercultural differences, such as different training systems, principles of patient care or education, which may condition the effects and changes resulting from training to prevent aggression.
Zachowania agresywne stanowią poważny problem w pracy personelu medycznego. Mają one liczne konsekwencje dla pracowników; odczuwają oni złość, poczucie bezsilności, a nawet doświadczają wypalenia zawodowego, które ostatecznie wpływa w sposób negatywny na proces terapeutyczny. Zmierzając do ograniczenia negatywnych konsekwencji tego procesu, proponuje się wiele rozwiązań, do których należą treningi zapobiegania agresji. Treść i program tego typu szkoleń mają charakter otwarty, jednak literatura przedmiotu zaleca koncentrację na zagadnieniach związanych z przeciwdziałaniem wystąpieniu zachowań agresywnych. Treningi w założeniu mają na celu wyposażenie personelu w odpowiednią wiedzę dotyczącą zasad postępowania wobec zachowań agresywnych pacjentów, jakkolwiek nie jest to ich jedyny efekt. Wpływają one także na postawy i poczucie własnej skuteczności uczestników. Efektywność treningu w tym zakresie jest możliwa do zmierzenia. Służą temu odpowiednie narzędzia, które prowadzący szkolenie może przekazać swoim kursantom. Należy jednak uwzględniać aspekt różnic międzykulturowych – inne systemy szkolenia, zasady opieki nad pacjentem czy też wychowanie mogą warunkować uzyskane efekty i zmiany, będące efektem treningu zapobiegania agresji.

The nature of the modern military operations conducted on Ukrainian territory has generated a wave of mass emigration focused on the nearest safe areas. Poland, too, as one of the neighbouring countries, is a fundamental migration target for war refugees. Russian armed aggression began in February 2014, and on February 24, 2022 turned into a regular war. As a result of martial law, a number of children, women and the elderly (over 60 years of age) range seek protection on Polish territory. The influx of people became the basis for the creation of an important law of March 12, 2022 on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of that country. The legislation regulates the rules of legalization of residence, guarantees access to the labour market, health care, as well as benefits and social assistance. A number of aid measures issued for Ukrainian migrants, high inflation as well as Russian propaganda used for information warfare have negatively affected public sentiment towards factors shaping security. Therefore, an analysis of selected security sectors identifies threats as well as problem areas along with opportunities to ensure security.

Obowiązek przymusowego przebywania w izolacji penitencjarnej wywołuje szkody osobiste w postaci zaburzeń emocji, motywacji czy zachowania. Negatywnym skutkiem deprywacji potrzeb skazanych jest ich podwyższona skłonność do dokonywania intencjonalnych samouszkodzeń podczas odbywania kary pozbawienia wolności. Oprócz czynników sprzyjających występowaniu zachowań autoagresywnych istnieją także czynniki chroniące, które bezspornie rzadziej są przedmiotem opracowań psychologicznych. W badaniu wzięło udział 50 skazanych mężczyzn, odbywających karę pozbawienia wolności po raz kolejny w życiu. Do ustalenia poziomu ich proaktywności wykorzystano Skalę proaktywności w izolacji więziennej (SPIW15), natomiast ich skłonność do autoagresji ustalono przy użyciu Inwentarza samouszkodzeń (ISAS). W artykule omówiono wyniki badań własnych, które dowiodły, że proaktywność jako cecha osobowości ma negatywny związek z autoagresją recydywistów. W ochronie przed autoagresywnymi zachowaniami skazanych największy udział mają proaktywne działania nastawione na uzyskiwanie poczucia własnej kompetencji i wsparcia rodzinnego. Ponadto w badaniu wykazano, że proaktywni skazani mają istotnie dłuższe przerwy między aktami autoagresji, a także ich proaktywne działania współwystępują z deklaracjami dotyczącymi chęci zaprzestania samouszkodzeń w przyszłości.
The obligation to be imprisoned in penitentiary isolation causes personal damages in the form of emotional, motivation or behavioral disorders. The negative effect of depriving needs of prisoners is their increased tendency to perform intentional self-harm while serving imprisonment. Besides to the factors contributing to the occurrence of self-aggressive behaviors, there are also protective factors that are undoubtedly less often subject to psychological studies. The study involved 50 convicted men serving their sentences once again in their lives. To determine the level of their proactivity, The Scale of Proactivity in Penitentiary Isolation (PPI) was used, while their propensity to self-aggression was determined using The Inventory of Statements about self-injury (ISAS). The article discusses the results of our own research, which proved that proactivity as a personality trait has a negative relationship with self-aggression. Proactive actions aimed at gaining a sense of self-competence and family support are most important in the protection against the self-aggresion behaviour of convicts. Moreover, the study showed that proactive convicts have significantly longer intervals between acts of self-aggression, as well as their proactive activities coexist with declarations of the desire to stop self-harm in the future.

 Aim: The comparison the level of aggression of women and men in the judo population, against the background of the average aggression of the Polish societyMaterial and Methods: A group of 77 former and still practicing judokas (30 women and 47 men) were tested using a questionnaire to determine the aggression level of "Aggression Questionnaire" Buss, Perry, Amity Institute in Polish adaptation.Results: Women had lower levels of physical aggression than men. Reduced feelings of hostility among women and men made the judo environment different from the average Polish population.Conclusions: Only the lower level of physical aggression in women is discriminating against the judo environment. The lower level of sense of hostility is a significant distinctive for the entire judo community.

The aim of the article is to find an answer to the question: is there a dependence between parents’ attitudes perceived by the youth people whose fathers indulge too freely in alcohol and the level of their fears and aggressiveness. For comparison also research material regarding youth people whose fathers do not abuse alcohol has been collected. The investigation included two groups (aged 16–17 years), each consisting of 40 persons. We used 3 methods: 1) Questionnaire PERM – Siegelman and Roe, in the version ‘‘My mother’’ and ‘‘My father’’; 2) State and trait Inventory of Spielberger; 3) Questionnaire ‘‘Moods and whims’’. As a results of the investigation some dependencies have been found: 1. There is a statistically essential difference between rejecting attitudes of mothers towards boys of two groups. There is, however, no such difference towards girls. It is supposed that mothers project their hatred against their alcoholic husbands on their sons; 2. The youth people from alcoholic families have no great affection and respect for their fathers; 3. The level of fear and aggression among young people whose fathers indulge too freebee in alcohol is considerably higher than in normal, standard families. In families where parents do not abuse alcohol the level of aggressiveness is low.

In some periods of development (transition from late childhood to adolescence and from early to late adolescence), apart from individual changes, an individual experiences additional developmental pressure connected with graduating from primary and starting a middle school which requires adaptation to the new educational and school friend environment and sometimes psychical processes and functioning restructuring. Due to that, the research model and the discussed changes occurring in that period may not only help to better understand the phenomenon of readiness for aggression, acting like and maintaining the role of a victim or a perpetrator of the aggressive behaviors, but also indicate other processes connected with the forming identity (volitional processes, satisfaction of own needs, activating reflexivity, etc.).

ObjectivesThe SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has affected the development of negative phenomena such as anxiety symptoms, a tendency to use alcohol and aggressive behaviors. It is postulated to investigate the factors limiting the development of the indicated adverse effects. One of the psychological resources that may have a significant, pro-health character in relation to mental functioning is ego-resiliency (ER). It is described as a personality trait associated with a high ability to adequately regulate self-control, depending on the conditions. There are studies providing information about the prohealth, adaptive nature of ER during the COVID‑19 period. The aim of the study was to assess the relationships between ER and anxiety, the tendency to use alcohol and aggression in the group of Polish people in the initial lockdown period in Poland.Material and MethodsOverall, 538 adult Polish people participated in the study. The Ego-Resiliency Scale referred to as ER89-R12, according to Block’s concept, was used to measure ER. The other scales used were the General Anxiety Disorder Scale, the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test, and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire. Statistical analyses were performed using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, the multiple regression procedure, the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis rank ANOVA. Cronbach’s α coefficients were also assessed.ResultsStatistically significant negative relationships between ER and the severity of anxiety symptoms and generalized aggression were found. There was a weak positive relationship between ER and the tendency to use alcohol. Among the surveyed Polish people, higher ER was characteristic of the older respondents (aged >29 years) and people with higher education.ConclusionsEgo-resiliency in the times of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic can counteract the development of anxiety and aggression. Optimal regulation seems to play an important role in this relationship. The relationship between resiliency and the tendency to use alcohol requires further observation.

This short introduction presents the context and background information to the CEEMR special section analysing the migration dynamics, trajectories, everyday reality and policies in the context of Russian full-scale aggression against Ukraine. The special section contains the first group of articles dealing with the unprecedented migration consequences of military aggression against Ukraine, including air strikes on many Ukrainian cities, the use of indiscriminate weapons, killing and deportations as well as the economic consequences of protracted armed conflict. The intensity of the migration movement should also be explained by the quick opening by neighbouring countries of their borders to the incoming refugees. The exceptionality of the situation and high uncertainty about further developments led us to conclude that this special section should not follow any prior conceptual background but should be open to different perspectives and approaches in studying migration from/in/to Ukraine.

So far, many studies have confirmed the existence of a negative relationship between empathy and aggressive behaviour. Researchers are still searching for answers on how empathic behaviour may be an inhibitor of aggressive behaviour of people of all ages. This study con-ducted on a sample of Polish adolescents related to the search for an association between the level of cognitive and affective empathy and different dimensions of aggression. The results confirmed that cognitive empathy has a stronger association with the behavioural dimension of aggression (physical and verbal), however, the emotional dimension of empathy correlates with the experience of affective aggression (anger) or cognitive (hostility). In addition, the results confirmed the existence of gender differences in experiencing both empathy and aggression.
Do tej pory wiele badań potwierdziło istnienie negatywnego związku pomiędzy empatią azachowaniami agresywnymi. Badacze wciąż poszukują odpowiedzi na pytanie, na ile zachowania empatyczne mogą być inhibitorem zachowań agresywnych ludzi wróżnym wieku. Badania polskich adolescentów dotyczyły poszukiwania związku między poziomem empatii poznawczej iafektywnej, aróżnymi wymiarami agresji (poznawczym, afektywnym ibehawioralnym). Uzyskane rezultaty potwierdziły, że empatia poznawcza ma silniejszy związek zbehawioralnym wymiarem agresji (fizyczną iwerbalną agresją), natomiast wymiar emocjonalny empatii koreluje zdoświadczaniem agresji afektywnej (gniewem) czy kognitywnej (wrogością). Dodatkowo, rezultaty potwierdziły istnienie różnic płciowych wdoświadczaniu zarówno empatii jak i agresji.

Ukraine has been an independent state for 25 years. During the years of independence the democratic world blamed Ukraine's political elite for the reluctance to carry out political, economic and social reforms in the country as well as for the lack of sustainable development, corruption in the state apparatus, unfair elections and administrative pressure. However, in the field of language policy and interethnic relations, Ukraine managed to gain success. Ukraine was one of the few post-Soviet states where there was no interethnic conflict. Over the years of Sovietization in Ukraine, as in the most countries of the former Soviet Union, almost everyone understood Russian. It was spoken by many, but only in the imagination of Putin's propaganda did the Russian speakers suffer harassment. The political mobilization of Russian speakers has got its momentum in 2014. We are convinced that Putin doesn’t play fair, despite his desire to convince everybody that he does! In fact, the “protection” of Russians and Russian speakers was one of the reasons for the annexation of Crimea and aggression in Eastern Ukraine. The media in the Russian Federation (as well as the media from around the globe that had received their salary from the Kremlin) constantly repeated and still repeat “the Russians (Russian speakers, whatever) need protection from nationalists in Kyiv...” Applying the value free approach, we try to determine whether this political mobilization of Russian speaking Ukrainian citizens could be Putin’s labelled cards, a threat to the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Do Russian speakers face an oppression, which the Kremlin propaganda constantly speaks of? Is it possible to communicate freely in Russian in Ukraine without any fear of xenophobia? Could multiculturalism practices be helpful in Ukraine?

The analysis of literature on the subject indicates the occurrence of cultural stereotypes that hinder the adaptation to the conditions of the era of an information civilization. They are of a particular importance in the public sphere. Their main feature (disadvantage) is the stimulation of aggression in social relations, the manifestations of which deform the functioning of liberal democracy. Aggression as a cultural trait comes from the fear of losing identity and from the uncertainty. The dissemination of the patterns of liberal culture and thus the displacement of the restrictive culture are the ways of counteracting the negative phenomena associated with it. The development of this problem is the subject of this text.

The article presents the dependence of the behavior from the self-image and formation of self-image under the influence of others. If we treat aggressive man calmly and without fear, we give him the signal that „you are good”, and if we are convincing, then behavior of the aggressor becomes good, because it is consistent with his positive self-image. This method can be used in upbringing of children, resolution of conflicts and preventing aggression. The article gives a number of examples where people dealing aggressors without fear and with peace, came out safely from a very difficult situations.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the phenomenon of cruelty according to deontology in education. The cruelty represents a significant threat to the pedagogical relationship for two reasons. Na świecie co 40 sekund jedna osoba umiera wskutek jakiegoś autodestrukcyjnego aktu. Wśród wszystkich samobójców, najwięcej jest dorosłych mężczyzn, często z zaburzeniami psychicznymi, którzy najczęściej dokonują samounicestwienia poprzez powieszenie. Jedynym sposobem, gdzie kobiety niemal dorównują mężczyznom – jest utonięcie (nazywane przez wielu autorów „utopieniem”).
Unexpected, abrupt death is always a great tragedy, both for a victim, as well as, for their family, friends, society or even country. However, death as a result of a suicide always seems to be unnecessary and difficult to accept by relatives. Every 40 seconds someone dies on the globe due to a kind of an auto-destruction act. Out of all suicides, the biggest group are adult men, frequently with mental disorders, who commit suicide by hanging themselves. The only suicide method where women are almost on the par with men is drowning (by many authors referred to as death by drowning).

Purpose: To estimate the frequency of aggressive behaviors in health care institutions, and determine their influence on emotional reactions of medical workers. Materials and methods: The study involved 201 health care professionals from the regions of Lower Silesia and Opole in Poland. The authors employed the exposure to patient aggression inventory, based on the questionnaires of Merecz and Nowicka & Kolasa; this inventory divides patient aggression towards medical workers into seven different forms. Results: In over 90% of cases, health care professionals fell victim to patient aggression in a workplace. It mostly took forms of verbal aggression, a raised voice and shouting. A physical attack was reported by 45.6% of the surveyed; it resulted in physical injuries in 27.9% of psychiatric hospital workers and 24.7% of general hospital workers. As a reaction to patients’ verbal aggression, medical workers usually calmly explained that such behavior was improper. Violence and aggressive behaviors of patients evoked workers’ anger, fear, a feeling of resignation and the loss of their sense of safety. In most case's victims of patient aggression either coped with the problem themselves or asked their co-workers and superiors for help. Conclusions: Aggressive behaviors of patients arouse in medical staff, mostly anger. Medical workers usually cope with patient aggression themselves; nurses more often than other health care professionals ask their superiors and co-workers for help. It is necessary to conduct further research into the problem of patient aggression towards medical staff so that actions ensuring safety for workers can be taken.

Anthropological aggression is a means of waging war using information gained from a nation and its culture, social norms and habits and geographic conditions, as well as its history, traditions, etc. This type of activity is currently observed in Ukraine in the context of the war in the eastern part of the country. Anthropological aggression, however, can be minimized by the use of the anthropological defence. An example of this is the theatrical projects initiated by various artistic troupes all over the country. This paper presents the methods which are employed by the Ukrainian theatre to counteract this anthropological aggression. One can identify four basic fields of activity directed at creating the tools of anthropological defence: 1) combating stereotypes; 2) facilitating the integration and assimilation of internally displaced people; 3) theatrotherapy: 4) initiation of the social and political debate.

This article analyses the way Ukrainian politicians express themselves, which is different from the general principles of rhetoric: comments often contain verbal aggression towards the opponent. By analyzing Ukrainian political discourse I managed to track the imprudence fond in the formulation of comments for different reasons – an inability to report or inability to control emotions, as well as a direct and deliberate strategy of applying all possible means of modeling verbal aggression, especially the use of invectives. The postulates of the author are confirmed by illustrative material – examples of statements made by Ukrainian politicians from different parties and groups, selected from the transcripts of the Supreme Council of Ukraine (Verkhovna Rada) from the year 2013.

The study was projected in order to identify to what extend sex and sex-role orientation are connected with the readiness for aggression. Three different mechanisms of aggression were considered: emotional-impulsive (EIR), habitual-cognitive (H-CR) and personality-immanent (P-IR). According to gender schema theory people can internalize various gender depending on the extent to which they perceive themselves as possessing stereotypically underline masculine and feminine traits. The data from 464 respondents were collected. Patterns of readiness for aggression were measured by the Readiness for Interpersonal Aggression Inventory whereas the Psychological Gender Inventory was applied to asses gender identity. The results show that the masculine compared with the feminine individuals manifested higher level of H-CR and P-IR while the reversed pattern was observed in case of E-IR. These results reflect sex differences: E-IR higher among females and H-CR and P-IR higher in males.

An insult is one of the cases of verbal aggression and undoubtedly it is an everyday life phenomenon. Insulting is a display of direct aggression which arises from anger and aims at the effect on the recipient’s mind. The act of abuse on the other hand, is conditioned by multiple factors. Its success depends, for example, on the knowledge of culture to which the recipient of an insult belongs. Despite the fact that an insult is a cultural phenomenon, i.e. dependent on a particular culture, the mechanism of abuse itself is identical in the entire world. Generally, it is possible to determine a list of universal human disabilities which are subject to insults as well as a universal list of topic areas of insulting expressions.

The paper presents an idea of predicting durability of concrete structures with steel reinforcement under conditions of chloride and carbonation corrosion risk. Mechanisms of destruction due to steel corrosion in such conditions are shown. The recently elaborated model of carbonation and general model of chloride diffusion have been discussed. An algorithm of the rest service life time prognosis has been shown and options of its main stages realization have been done. An example of durability prognosis for pre-stressed hollow-core floor slab with upper layer of concrete and epoxy-resin coating has been given. This example confirms the usefulness of the described prognosis method and demonstrates its helpfulness in a structure management according to the standards of EN 1504 series.

The work concerns the issue of the influence of the training on the empathy and the aggression in group of children 6–9 years old. The subject of the research was to determine the level of aggression in group of children 6–9 years old, conducting training of empathy, and re-examination of the level of aggression. Aggression was examinated by modified version of questionnare ‟My life in school” created by Tiny Arora, with polish adaptation by Tomasz Kołodziejczyk. The empathy training included eight exercises, the aim of which was to develop skills related with empathy. There was 100 students of elementary school in the study group, 52 girls and 48 boys. A conducted statistical analysis confirmed the correlation between the empathy training and the level of aggression in whole study group. However, a hypothesis about relationship between sex and effectiveness of training weren’t confirmed. Both boys and girls empathy training brought results, although it was more effective in first group. The empathy training was proven to be effective. It reduced the level of aggression in the study group of 100 children 6–9 years old. These findings prompted to number of doubts and thoughts about its implementa on and encouraged to reflection the improvement of future research trials. It is certain, however, that empathy training reduces aggression and can be an effective tool in dealing with aggression at school.
Praca dotyczy problemu wpływu treningu empatii na poziom agresji u dzieci w wieku 6–9 lat. Przedmiotem badań jest określenie poziomu agresji u tychże, przeprowadzenie treningu empatii, a następnie ponowne zbadanie poziomu agresji. Agresję badano zmodyfikowaną wersją kwestionariusza „Moje życie w szkole”, opracowanego przez Tiny Arora i zaadoptowanego w wersji polskiej przez Tomasza Kołodziejczyka. Trening obejmował osiem ćwiczeń, których celem było rozwinięcie umiejętności związanych z empatią. Badania empiryczne zrealizowano wśród dzieci w wieku 6–9 lat, czyli uczniów klas 1–3 szkoły podstawowej. W grupie badanej znalazło się sto dzieci: 52 dziewczynki, 48 chłopców. Przeprowadzona analiza statystyczna potwierdziła związek pomiędzy treningiem empatii a poziomem agresji w badanej grupie. Nie potwierdzono natomiast hipotezy o związku płci i skuteczności treningu. Zarówno u chłopców, jak i u dziewczynek trening empatii przyniósł rezultaty, chociaż w grupie chłopców były one lepsze. Trening empatii okazał się skuteczny. Zmniejszył poziom agresji w badanej grupie stu dzieci w wieku 6–9 lat w ciągu jednego tygodnia. Badanie nasunęło szereg wątpliwości i przemyśleń dotyczących jego wykonania i skłoniło do refleksji nad udoskonaleniem przyszłych prób badawczych. Pewne jest jednak, że trening empatii obniża poziom agresji i może stanowić skuteczne narzędzie w radzeniu sobie z agresją w szkole.

Some scholars define perfectionism as the relationship between one’s abilities and expectations. A strong emotional reaction to the discrepancy between these can be maladaptive and even lead to aggressive behaviour. The study covered 133 students and graduates of colleges around Poland, including 67 persons of various specialties in visual arts. In order to characterise perfectionism, the Polish version of the Goals and Work Habits Survey (Schuler, 1994) was used, while the tool called Inwentarz Psychologiczny Agresji [Aggression Psychological Inventory] (Gaś, 1980) was used for description of aggression. The aim of the study was to analyse the relationship between specific aspects of perfectionism and aggression in artistically gifted persons. The results of the study indicate that artistically gifted persons scored higher in respect of some aspects of perfectionism than persons from the control group. The assumption that the studied groups differ in terms of aggression syndrome has not been confirmed. The artistically gifted men differed from the control group men in terms of aspects of perfectionism and in terms of transferred aggression. No statistically significant differences in terms of perfectionism or aggression syndrome have been established between the women. Moreover, gender did not differentiate perfectionism in the group of artistically talented persons.

Aggression is the growing problem in society. Therefore it is important to identify potential factors preventing aggression. In recent years scientists have observed decreased concentrations of omega-3 acids in people prone to aggression. This discovery suggested that the key to reducing aggression could be omega-3 acids supplementation. The aim of this study is to describe whether omega-3 acids consumption may result in reduction of aggressive behavior. Standard up-to-date criteria were followed for review of the literature data. A search for English-language articles in PubMed database was performed. Papers published between 2014 and 2017 were reviewed. In randomized study scientist discovered that omega-3 acids supplementation results in 42-68% reduction of parental complaints about aggressive behaviors in children. The improvement of behavior persisted for six months after cessation of treatment. Scientists in 2015 found out that in the prison population low levels of omega-3 acids in the blood correlate with more aggressive behavior. Patients in treatment group were characterized by more than 30% reduction in aggressive behaviors comparing to placebo group. In another review study we can notice the same conclusions. Aggression against others and impulsivity were lower in the group receiving omega-3 acids. A greater susceptibility to aggression has been observed among patients who have lower levels of omega-3 acids in their blood. Scientists have demonstrated positive omega-3 effects on the reduction of aggressive behavior. Omega-3 supplementation is safe and well tolerated and it can be used in combination with other methods of aggression treatment.

The text considers domestic aggression and violence conditioning. The analysis of agents and factors as the sources of domestic aggression and violence was of dimorphic character. Two fields were submitted to the analysis and penetration: pre-natal period, that is so called 'arising aggression and violence' and the field of the factors within the family-domestic surrounding of an individual. Due to the multiplicity and variety of the factors residing in these fields, there were some relations to agents of commonly destructive (pathological) character, i.e. alcohol abuse as well as to agents not bearing the traits of pathology, i.e. unemployment. Multiply quoted explorations indicate that domestic aggression and violence are rooted in the integrated macro- and micro-social aspects, at times creating a series of pejorative factors triggering domestic aggression and violence. Analysing the conditioning of aggressive and violent behaviours, some selected implications for an individual's development and functioning, mainly children, were also signalled.
Tekst dotyczy uwarunkowań agresji i przemocy domowej. Analiza czynników i faktorów jako źródeł agresji i przemocy domowej miała charakter dymorficzny. Analizie i penetracji poddano dwa obszary: okres prenatalny, czyli tzw. „rodzącej się agresji i przemocy” oraz obszar czynników tkwiących w środowisku rodzinno-domowym jednostki. Ze względu na wielość i różnorodność faktorów tkwiących w tych obszarach, odniesiono się do czynników o charakterze typowo destrukcyjnym (patologicznym), jak np. nadużywanie alkoholu, jak również do czynników nieposiadających znamion patologii, jak np. bezrobocie. Liczne przywoływane eksploracje wskazują, że agresja i przemoc domowa ma swoje podłoże w zintegrowanych czynnikach makro- i mikrospołecznych, tworzących niekiedy ciągi pejoratywnych faktorów wyzwalających agresję i przemoc domową. Analizując uwarunkowania zachowań agresywnych zasygnalizowano również wybrane implikacje rozwoju i funkcjonowania jednostki, głównie dzieci.

The term political culture involves a wide range of contexts and evokes a different spectrum of ideas, opinions, and definitions. Nowadays, perhaps slightly more than ever, we encounter views and statements that refer to the low level of political culture in our country. Many times, these are declarations that apply not only to specific political parties or politicians, but also to citizens, or even to the entire nation, which is (often by itself) described as having no political culture. And this notion, unfortunately, also harmfully affects the formation of our national identity as such; how we perceive ourselves, what patterns we adopt, and what standards we accept. In our paper, we focus on the culture of the Slovak political communication, while paying special attention to the linguistic utterances of selected representatives of the Slovak political scene. In this context, the language will act as a tool for communication between political representatives themselves, between political officials and citizens, but also as a tool of discussion on politics among people.

The article presents the research results, the aim of which was to learn different ways of dealing with aggression by teachers, and to examine knowledge that children have about aggression and related problems. Research problems were formulated that concerned ways of eliminating children`s aggressive behaviors, which are used by teachers at work. One of the research tools was a questionnaire addressed to teachers. Providing answers, they had to demonstrate their knowledge about the different types of aggression that can be observed among children, and describe the methods and ways of dealing with it. The children were interviewed by a puppet, which was used to transform the interview into a process of interaction and to reduce the distance between the child and the researcher. The second study involving children was an interview focused on a problem. The presented research results have shown how big the problem is aggression in the life of preschool children who have shown a great knowledge about this subject. The article includes quotes from children's statements, that give an idea of what they think, feel or experience dealing with aggression. The study shows, that all the tested teachers are aware of factors causing aggression in children and know different methods and ways of eliminating aggressive behaviors. In practice, however, they are not always able to cope with this difficult and important problem and they need support. This research can be useful for teachers and parents so that they learn and understand better the problem of aggression which is ubiquitous among children, familiarize with the ways of reacting properly in difficult situations and ways of eliminating aggressive behaviors.
W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań, których celem było poznanie różnych sposobów radzenia sobie z agresją przez nauczycieli, oraz zbadania wiedzy jaką posiadają dzieci na temat agresji i problemów z nią związanych. Sformułowane zostały problemy badawcze, które dotyczyły sposobów niwelowania zachowań agresywnych u dzieci, jakie stosowane są przez nauczycieli w pracy. Jednym z narzędzi badawczych była ankieta skierowana do nauczycieli. Udzielając odpowiedzi musieli oni wykazać się wiedzą na temat różnych rodzajów agresji, którą można zaobserwować wśród dzieci, oraz opisać metody i sposoby radzenia sobie z nią. Zastosowany był też wywiad przeprowadzony z dziećmi za pomocą pacynki, która miała na celu przekształcić go w proces interakcji i zmniejszyć dystans dziecka z badaczem, oraz wywiad skoncentrowany na problemie. Przedstawione wyniki badań ukazały, jak wielkim problemem jest agresja w życiu dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym, które wykazały się dużą wiedzą na ten temat. W artykule zostały również umieszczone cytaty z wypowiedzi dzieci, które dają obraz tego, co myślą, czyją i przeżywają gdy muszą zmierzyć się z agresją. Z badania można wyciągnąć wniosek, że wszyscy nauczyciele, którzy zostali przebadani, zdają sobie sprawę z tego, co może wywołać agresję u dzieci i znają różne metody i sposoby niwelowania zachowań agresywnych. W praktyce nie zawsze jednak potrafią sobie poradzić z tym trudnym i ważnym problemem i potrzebują wsparcia. Badania te mogą być przydatne dla nauczycieli i rodziców, aby mogli lepiej poznać i zrozumieć problem agresji, która jest wszechobecna wśród dzieci, zapoznać się ze sposobami właściwego reagowania w trudnych sytuacjach i sposobami niwelowania zachowań agresywnych.

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem Einsatz persuasiver, akzeptanzwerbender Mittel in politischen Reden, speziell in Texten von NPD-Rednern. Aufgrund des gegebenen politischen Kontexts lassen sich zwei konträre Tendenzen beobachten: das Bemühen um eine gewisse sprachliche Anpassung an das Sprachverhalten anderer Parteien und das gleichzeitige Insistieren auf einer Strategie der Abgrenzung und Polarisierung. Eine Analyse von Stellungnahmen zur Bildungspolitik soll dies konkretisieren.

Opis:
Russian information aggression and defending the information sovereignty of the nation have become issues of critical importance. This paper looks into the semiotics of the worldview war based on an analysis of total sign suggestion. Suggestion occurs when the suggestor implants information into the conscience of the recipient while bypassing conscious mental checkpoints. We have also analyzed suggestion strategies, with special attention given to the destruction of language sign’s conventional nature and the creation of vertical discursive signs. Counter-measures must be founded on countersuggestion and not counterpropaganda, so a suggestive mapping of society must be done with locating vulnerable zones and taking into account areas of potential resonance with the suggestor.

Problem of risky behaviours is closely related to the period of adolescence. From the point of view of the current state of research on aggression and its forms and risk in its various manifestations, it seems reasonable to give the following research problem: Is there a relationship between the level of aggression and the risk-taking behaviour of young people during adolescence? The research used the Questionnaire Moods and Humors by Arnold H. Buss and Ann Durkee in the Polish adaptation of Mieczysław Choynowski, and the Multifactor Risk Behaviour Scale (WSZR) by Ryszard Studenski. 118 students of Lublin primary schools (70 girls and 48 boys) took part in the research. The age of the respondents ranged from 14 to 16 years (M = 14.89; SD = 0.71). Statistical data analysis has proved that the relationship between the level of aggression and the tendency to aggressive behaviour is positive and moderate. Sex is probably not a factor differentiating the correlation between general aggression and risk propensity, because the strength of the relationship between variables turned out to be similar in both girls and boys. It can be concluded that the representatives of both sexes, along with the increase in the level of aggression, tend to become more risky.
Ryzykowne zachowania problemowe są ściśle związane z okresem adolescencji. Z punktu widzenia aktualnego stanu badań nad agresją i jej formami oraz ryzykiem w jego różnych przejawach zasadne wydaje się postawienie następującego problemu badawczego: Czy istnieje zależność pomiędzy poziomem agresji a skłonnością do podejmowania zachowań ryzykownych przez młodzież w okresie adolescencji? W badaniach wykorzystano Kwestionariusz Nastroje i Humory Arnolda H. Bussa i Ann Durkee w polskiej adaptacji Mieczysława Choynowskiego oraz Wieloczynnikową Skalę Zachowań Ryzykownych (WSZR) Ryszarda Studenskiego. W badaniach wzięło udział 118 uczniów lubelskich szkół podstawowych (70 dziewcząt i 48 chłopców). Wiek badanych wynosił od 14 do 16 lat (M = 14,89; SD = 0,71). Statystyczna analiza danych dowiodła, że związek między poziomem agresji a skłonnością do zachowań agresywnych jest dodatni i ma umiarkowane nasilenie. Płeć prawdopodobnie nie jest czynnikiem różnicującym korelację między ogólną agresją a skłonnością do ryzyka, ponieważ siła związku między zmiennymi okazała się zbliżona w grupie zarówno dziewcząt, jak i chłopców. Można wnioskować, że u przedstawicieli obu płci wraz ze wzrostem poziomu agresji zwiększa się skłonność do zachowań ryzykownych.

The article presents terminology, specifics and criteria of aggression, aggressiveness and violence. Selected risk factors for aggressive behavior or violence in children revealed in the family, school environment and through the media are also discussed. Subsequently, the propositions of preventive actions used for avoiding or reducing the scale of aggression and violence are presented. Various measures to support children at risk of interpersonal aggression and remedies to counteract aggression and violence are also proposed.
W artykule wskazano terminologię, specyfikę oraz kryteria agresji, agresywności i przemocy. Omówiono też wybrane czynniki ryzyka wystąpienia zachowań agresywnych czy przemocy u dzieci, ujawniające się w rodzinie, środowisku szkolnym i za pośrednictwem mediów. Następnie przedstawiono propozycje działań profilaktycznych stosowanych w celu uniknięcia lub zmniejszenia skali agresywności i przemocy, a także przybliżono przedsięwzięcia zaradcze, wspierające dzieci zagrożone agresją interpersonalną, oraz sposoby przeciwdziałania agresji i przemocy.

Człowiek zachowuje się agresywnie bez względu na wiek. Jest to widoczne coraz częściej zarówno wśród dzieci, jak i dorosłych. Agresja zakłóca normalne funkcjonowanie człowieka i zagraża mu w codziennych relacjach. Na podstawie badań przedstawiono występowanie różnych przyczyn i konsekwencji zachowań agresywnych. Artykuł ten jest próbą wyjaśnienia agresji ludzkiej, eksplikuje przyczyny zachowań agresywnych, a także wskazuje na sposoby przeciwdziałania im oraz minimalizowania tych zachowań.
Man behaves aggressively at any age. This is more and more visible both among children and adults. Aggression interferes with the normal functioning of man and threatens him in everyday relationships. Based on the research, it explains the occurrence of various causes and the consequences of aggressive behavior. The article is an attempt to explain human aggression, it explores the causes of aggressive behavior, and also indicates how to counteract and minimize it.

Making the world a safe place has been the aim of mankind since time immemorial. Representatives of various sciences have made an appreciable effort to help this dream come true. They have constructed theoretical systems and found practical solutions to problems which are the most significant for people. Unfortunately, in many cases research carried out by representatives of humanistic and social sciences has turned out to be unfruitful. Efforts which improve relations between people are particularly crucial for educationalists, that is they try to constrain or eliminate negative relationships with the view of benefits stemming from positive relations. In spite of considerable successes both in theory as well as in practical activities, we have to constantly face the necessity to answer the question: what should be done to bring together people who are willing to cooperate and love, not to perform diverse forms of aggression and rivalry?
Uczynienie świata bezpiecznym miejscem było celem ludzkości od niepamiętnych czasów. Przedstawiciele różnych nauk dołożyli znacznych starań, aby to marzenie się spełniło. Skonstruowali systemy teoretyczne i znaleźli praktyczne rozwiązania najważniejszych dla ludzi problemów. Niestety w wielu przypadkach badania przeprowadzone przez przedstawicieli nauk humanistycznych i społecznych okazały się bezowocne. Szczególnie istotne dla pedagogów są działania poprawiające relacje międzyludzkie, czyli próby ograniczania lub eliminowania negatywnych relacji z myślą o korzyściach płynących z relacji pozytywnych. Mimo sporych sukcesów zarówno w teorii, jak iw działaniach praktycznych, musimy nieustannie mierzyć się z koniecznością odpowiedzi na pytanie: co zrobić, aby zjednoczyć ludzi chętnych do współpracy i miłości, aby nie dopuszczać się różnorodnych form agresji i rywalizacja?

Acquired brain injuries are often accompanied by a series of neuropsychiatric disorders. A wide range of pharmacological agents are used to treat neuropsychiatric symptoms. However, a more indepth review of the agents used indicates that there are in fact relatively few procedures recommended for use. Anticonvulsants including valproic acid, are of particular interest. This research aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of valproic acid, as based on a naturalistic observation of patients with various forms of acquired brain injury and who had displayed neuropsychiatric symptoms. The study group consisted of individuals (N = 43) who were treated with valproic acid as the first choice of drug. Both the initial dose and its size during further treatment, as well as the treatment method, were determined based on medical indications. The mental state of the patients was assessed twice: at the time of enrolment for the study and after 12 months. The Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) was used for the assessment. In addition, the degree of cognitive dysfunction was assessed during the baseline study using the MMSE scale. Eventually, 24 individuals were accepted for statistical analysis. They were re-examined after 12 months and took only valproic acid during that period. 24 out of 43 individuals qualified for the study completed the 12-month observation period. 11 respondents were excluded from the study due to their inappropriate tolerance. The reported side effects were of a temporary nature (except for hair loss) and of a mild or moderate intensity. It was observed that aggressive and impulsive behaviours were significantly reduced in the study group. The positive therapeutic effect concerned all categories in the CMAI scale, except for verbal aggression. The therapeutic effect of the valproic acid was varied depending on the degree of cognitive impairments. Statistical significance for higher MMSE scores was obtained only for the category of non-aggressive verbal disorders. On the other hand, in the case of lower MMSE scores a significant reduction was observed both in the categories of non-aggressive and aggressive physical behaviours, as well as for the overall CMAI scale result. The results obtained seem to indicate a satisfactory efficacy and acceptable tolerance of valproic acid in the treatment of the neuropsychiatric symptoms accompanying acquired brain injuries.

As a consequence of Russia’s aggressive actions – initially with regard to the annexation of Crimea, and the beginning of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine in 2014 – many European Union countries have revised their current security and defence policies. The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, initiated on 24 February 2022, only strengthened this tendency. For Poland, one of NATO’s major eastern flank states, the need to improve the management of national security that corresponds to the challenges and threats that lie ahead has become self-evident. The goal of this article is to look at the assumptions of the defence policy of the Republic of Poland, and to evaluate the country’s defence potential based on the implemented modernisation schemes.

Background. Playing sports entails numerous forms of stress that athletes need to be able to manage in order to deliver the desired performance. It is also important that they release any accumulated tension in a way that would enable them to be more assertive. Material and methods. The sample consisted of 147 athletes (age 13.93±1.22). The validated Hungarian version of the Buss-Perry (1992) Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) and the StateTrait Anxiety Inventory for Children were utilized in the research (STAI-C). The statistical analyses were examined through SPSS 24.0. software, where values p≤0.05 were considered significant. Results. Trait aggression had a positive correlation with state anxiety (r=0.17; p=0.04) and trait anxiety as well (r=0.17; p≤0.01). A positive correlation has been found between verbal aggression and trait anxiety (r=0.19; p=0.03), and state anxiety (r=0.17; p=0.44). A positive correlation can also be found between physical aggression and trait (r=0.28; p≤0.01) and state anxiety (r=0.16; p<0.05). Trait anxiety has been found higher in female athletes (33.47±7.01) than in males (29.75±5.81)(t=-3.24; p=0.04). Conclusions. Based on the results, it was found that there is a strong correlation between anxiety and aggression. Thus, as it is crucial for everyday people to have appropriate coping skills, it would be also important for athletes.
Wprowadzenie. Uprawianie sportu wiąże się z licznymi formami stresu, które sportowcy muszą umieć opanować, tak aby zapewnić sobie pożądane wyniki. Ważne jest również rozładowywanie całego nagromadzonego napięcia w sposób, który pozwoli im być bardziej asertywnymi. Materiał i metody. Próba składała się ze 147 sportowców (wiek 13,93±1,22). W badaniu wykorzystano zwalidowaną węgierską wersję Kwestionariusza Agresji Buss-Perry’ego (1992) (BPAQ) oraz Inwentarz Stanu i Cechy Lęku dla Dzieci (ang. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children – STAIC). Analizy statystyczne przeprowadzono za pomocą oprogramowania SPSS 24.0, w którym wartości p≤0,05 uznano za istotne. Wyniki. Agresja jako cecha korelowała dodatnio ze stanem lęku (r=0,17; p=0,04), jak również z lękiem jako cechą (r=0,17; p≤0,01). Stwierdzono dodatnią korelację pomiędzy agresją werbalną a lękiem jako cechą (r=0,19; p=0,03) i lękiem jako stanem (r=0,17; p=0,44). Można również stwierdzić dodatnią korelację pomiędzy agresją fizyczną a lękiem jako cechą (r=0,28; p≤0,01) i lękiem jako stanem (r=0,16; p<0,05). Stwierdzono wyższy poziom lęku u kobiet-sportowców (33,47±7,01) niż u mężczyzn (29,75±5,81)(t=-3,24; p=0,04). Wnioski. Na podstawie wyników stwierdzono, że istnieje silna korelacja między lękiem a agresją. W związku z tym, podobnie jak w przypadku zwykłych ludzi, posiadanie odpowiednich umiejętności radzenia sobie jest tak samo ważne dla sportowców.

Przemoc, agresja, okrucieństwo, prześladowanie, znęcanie się, krzywdzenie, maltretowanie, manipulacja – określenia można mnożyć – stały się wręcz nieodłącznymi komponentami życia codziennego, obecnego w szeroko rozumianych kontaktach międzyludzkich. Takie formy zachowań nieobce są także instytucjom edukacyjnym: szkołom oraz placówkom opiekuńczo-wychowawczym.
Contemporary world, in spite of omnipresent progress and the develop-ment often determined is a name “of jungle, in which he can survive only strongest”. Violence, aggression, cruelty, persecution, abuse, hurting, maltreating, the manipulation – it is possible to multiply expressions – became simply inseparable components of the everyday, current life in widely understood interpersonal contacts. Such forms of behaviours are also familiar for educational institutions: for schools and institutions protectively – education.

Past studies indicate that a number of environmental and psychological factors positively predict the perpetration of cyber-aggression. The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the moderation mediating effect of problematic cyber-activities (FB addiction, phubbing) and culture (Japanese vs. West European) on the association between student burnout and cyber-aggression behaviours among the university student population. In the current studies 171 West European (83% Females, age M = 23.16, SD = 5.46) and 120 Japanese (50% Females, age M = 21.95, SD = 1.62) students. The highest levels of academic dissatisfaction, phubbing, and cyber–aggression in FB-addicted students were found. The phubbing mediated the association between student burnout and cyber-aggression behaviours, but the results for FB addiction in simple mediation analysis were insignificant. Furthermore, FB addiction and culture were significant moderators of phubbing and cyber-aggression behaviours.

Artykuł dotyczy związku między agresją a płcią, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem różnic płciowych w przejawianiu agresji oraz skłonności do zachowań przemocowych. Od co najmniej kilku lat badacze zajmujący się problematyką płci w społeczeństwie zwracają uwagę, że społeczne funkcjonowanie człowieka (zajmowane pozycje, pełnione role, osiągane statusy) jest zdeterminowane przez przynależność do którejś z płci. Różnice płciowe kształtują odmienne modele zachowań, działań oraz interakcji wśród kobiet i mężczyzn. Konsekwencją tych różnic są odmienne potrzeby, interesy, systemy komunikacji i ekspresji, style rozwiązywania problemów czy konfliktów, sposoby radzenia sobie ze stresem. Kobiecość i męskość stanowią binarne, opozycyjne wobec siebie, konstrukcje społeczno-kulturowe, czego odzwierciedleniem są różnice w ujawnianiu lub rozładowaniu agresji.
The article deals with the relationship between aggression and gender, with particular emphasis on gender differences referring to the way in which aggression is shown and to the propensity for violent behaviour it affects. For at least several years, researchers examining gender in society have indicated that human social functioning (i.e. positions occupied, roles performed, status achieved) is determined by the gender to which one belongs. Gender differences generate different types of behaviour, actions and interactions between men and women. As a consequence of these differences, there are different needs, interests, systems of communication and expression, problem-solving and conflict-solving styles, ways of coping with stress. Femininity and masculinity are sociocultural structures in binary opposition to each other, reflected by differences between the ways aggression is released or unloaded.

W artykule, na podstawie założenia teorii socjoekologicznej i taksonomii K. Rigby i D. Olweusa, zostaje podjęta próba pokazania skali oraz charakterystyki przemocy i agresji występującej wśród uczniów szkół poddanych ewaluacji zewnętrznej w roku szkolnym 2013/14. Analiza obejmuje także współwystępowanie różnych form agresji i przemocy. W drugiej części opracowania autorzy analizują i w oparciu o model regresji wielorakiej hierarchizują czynniki determinujące intensywność doświadczania agresji i przemocy przez ucznia.
On the basis of the socio-ecological theory and taxonomy of K. Rigby and D. Olweus the article describes violence and aggression behavior as well as its scale among students of schools, which have been externally evaluated in school year 2013/14. The analysis presents also co-appearance of various forms of aggression and violence. In the second part authors analyze and on the basis of the model of multiply regression arrange in hierarchy factors determining intensity of experience by students aggression and violence.

Schools today are being faced with numerous disciplinary challenges. Aggressive behaviour has become more common in the school environment, and it continues to escalate in terms of the target and manner in which it is expressed, which is why this problem cannot be ignored. Teachers, including religious education teachers, have become more commonly the target of aggression.  It is difficult to estimate the level of student aggression towards teachers, as the latter often choose not to report abusive behaviour by students.  The aim of the article is to raise the awareness of the position of religious education teachers in terms of aggressive behaviour by students.  The article includes the author’s own research, which illustrates the school reality in the context of aggressive behaviour by students towards religious education teachers.
Współczesna szkoła zmaga się w wieloma problemami wychowawczymi. Coraz częstsze przypadki zachowań agresywnych w środowisku szkolnym oraz prężna dynamika ewolucji agresji pod kątem jej kierunku oraz przejawów sprawia, że nie można przejść obojętnie wobec tego problemu. Coraz częściej obiektem zachowań agresywnych staje się nauczyciel, m.in. katecheta. Określenie skali takich zachowań uczniów wobec nauczycieli jest dość trudne z uwagi na to, że wielu pedagogów nie ujawnia takich sytuacji. Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na sytuację nauczycieli katechezy w aspekcie zachowań agresywnych uczniów. Artykuł stanowi prezentację badań własnych, które obrazują fragment rzeczywistości szkolnej w kontekście przejawów zachowań agresywnych uczniów wobec katechetów.

The relationship between the development of moral reasoning and the tendency towards aggressive behaviour in difficult situations during adolescenceThe focus of this research was to establish the relationship between the development of moral reasoning and the tendency towards aggressive behaviour. Gender differences and the notion of responsibility were also considered in the research and the questions were constructed accordingly. Three different questionnaires were used in investigations: Defining Issues Test (DIT), Coping in Difficult Social Situations and Sense of Responsibility Scale. 136 subjects, age 15–19 years old (93 girls and 43 boys) participated in the research.  Results from the study show that moral reasoning is a major infl uencing factor in aggressive behaviour and this can be used to predict potential aggressive behaviour in adolescents. The study also showed that the relationship between development of moral reasoning and aggressive behaviour is moderated by the sense of the responsibility, as the sense of the responsibility clearly limits tendency towards aggressive behaviour. Genders differences also affected both the tendency towards aggressive behaviours, along with the relation between aggressive behaviour and sense of the responsibility. The study showed that sense of responsibility playing a larger role in boys.

In the present paper we consider the specific relationship between communal and agentic functioning of narcissistic individuals. The study was aimed to test whether narcissist’s aggression is due to not only negative information about their agency but also positive information about their communion. Whereas the first effect is well- documented in empirical studies, the second effect has been revealed in our prior research. The results of the present study confirmed both effects: negative information about one’s agency increased aggressive tendencies (operationalized as a display of demeaning behavior) and decreased state self-esteem, while positive information about one’s communion resulted only in displaced aggression. The aggressive response to positive communal information is discussed as the success-as-aflaw effect, which we mean as inverse of the failure-as-an asset effect. According to the success-as-a-flaw effect, positive outcomes in the communal domain, considered by narcissists to be an evidence of low-status, are threatening for the grandiose self, based on the domain of agency. The social cognitive and clinical approach is employed to interpret these results.
