Opis:
Global changes around the world have demanded various transformations, including in the area of higher education. The aim of academic education is no longer to prepare people to work in particular occupations, but to create the appropriate abilities which are useful in the labor market. This kind of education must embody a multi-aspect character, because it prepares people for life-long learning. Therefore, when creating a “learning society”, one should make an effort to think of axiological dimension of scientific-technical advance. One ought to take into account the human elements of education, especially ethical issues. Practice shows that human relationships bereft of a transcendent and ethical dimension, and which focus only on financial, economic goods, on profit, the market and competition, do not bring anyone happiness. Hence there is an enormous demand in the academic community for ethical reflection, thanks to which, man is not only improved in the anthropological dimension, but also in the socio-economic aspect.

Opis:
The development of crowdfunding widened the inventory of the available funding methods for scientific and extracurricular projects and boosted the interest of those entities that have not used this form of creative funding until now. American universities are both pioneers in this field and the most successful in this type of fundraising. At universities in Poland, crowdfunding is in the phase of initial development, therefore this paper is aimed at introducing and evaluating the first crowdfunding platform launched at Poznań University of Economics and Business — GOuep.pl. The experience gained and conclusions drawn from the first fundraisings organised for the implementation of selected projects provide interesting, practical implications for the parties potentially interested in this method of project funding. University fundraisings usually do not reach beyond a given university's community, making them rather small, local projects with moderate financial goals. Crowdfunding is still so fresh and unexplored at universities in Poland, that significant resources, both financial and in the form of expert knowledge, need to be spent in order to take full advantage of it. It is also a lesson for the entire academic community on how to use the potential of engagement in university projects, understood as events that integrate particular groups and affect the development of the potential and attractiveness of a university. The paper contributes towards recognising predictors of successful crowdfunding at Polish universities and indicates the possibility to use crowdfunding platforms as tools in building the university image and strengthening the integration of academic communities.

This paper presents the issues of place and attachment to place. The aim of the article is to determine the level of knowledge among the academic community of the university building in which they study or work and its surrounding area, in the context of place attachment. The cognitive component – one of many aspects of identifying with a place – was examined. With limited knowledge about the building in which the study population spends time, calculated in months or years, it is difficult to determine place attachment, identification, or experience. The research method applied was a diagnostic survey, a questionnaire consisting of questions designed by the author. Both students and academics were surveyed. The results showed that students have limited knowledge of the building where they attend classes. The university building appears to be more of an anonymous non-place, without deeper symbolic or social meanings, than a place with which the academic community identifies itself.

The research problem described in the title of the article can be formulated as a question: by what means is the idea of the University’s social responsibility implemented at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in its operation? We are talking here about the idea of sensu largo, because universities’ social responsibility requires an even more complete theoretical conceptualization. This idea refers to the theoretically recognized, complex, constantly changing, and multi-directional and network cooperation between the University and the heterogeneous environment. The conclusions of this submission may be a stimulus for further research on the developing concept of university social responsibility. The first part of the article is based on the analysis of the literature of the subject, while the second part examines documents.

W warunkach dynamicznych zmian demograficznych, technologicznych i strukturalno-rynkowych, a także przeobrażeń społeczno-kulturalnych edukacja coraz częściej traktowana jest instrumentalnie, jako kolejne zadanie do wykonania. Takie podejście do kształcenia i samokształcenia powoduje zmiany w relacjach międzyludzkich. W niniejszym artykule podjęta została próba opisu i wyjaśnienia jednego z coraz bardziej widocznych zjawisk w obszarze kształcenia akademickiego, jakim jest zanikania wspólnoty studenckiej. Podjęta dyskusja stanowi tym samym tło do planowanych badań i dalszych eksploracji badawczych.
In the conditions of dynamic demographic, technological and structural-market changes, as well as socio-cultural transformations, education is more often treated instrumentally as another task to perform and pass. This approach to education also causes changes in interpersonal relations. This article attempts to describe and explain one of the more visible occurrence in the area of academic education, which is the disappearing of the students’ community. The author of this article made a synthetic presentation of the results of the research of Polish and Italian historiography (based on the surveys into the primary sources) regarding the sojourn and study of Klemens Janicki at the University of Padua. Preserved doctoral diploma and poetic laurels bestowed upon the poet at the same time allowed the reconstruction of the course of this ceremony and identification of its participants. Academic atmosphere of Padua was presented in the article, including its prominent representatives: lawyers, philosophers and physicians, as well as the group of Polish students from the first half of the sixteenth century.

From the first months of 2020, COVID-19 transformed the landscape of education world-wide. Numerous educational institutions were forced due to the circumstances of the pandemic to move their courses online. This was the case at Akita International University in Akita, Japan. As the semester came to a close in July 2020, students were given an opportunity to reflect on their experiences with online education via end-of-term course evaluations, focus groups, and public meetings with university administration. From the results of these opportunities to share experiences in remote and virtual education, the authors were reminded that online learning can be a lonesome endeavor. However, it does not need to be this way. A sense of community, camaraderie, and shared purpose can be developed within the online teaching and learning environment. This article will offer suggestions generated from the authors’ experience. All suggestions have the authenticity of having been successfully utilized in the authors’ online classrooms.

Artykuł charakteryzuje środowisko zajmujące się technologią, organizacją i ekonomiką budownictwa – głównie środowisko akademickie zgrupowanego wokół Sekcji Inżynierii Przedsięwzięć Budowlanych KILiW PAN. Wyniki opracowano na podstawie ankiety obejmującej okres 2007-2010. Przedstawiono zagadnienia finansowe rzutujące na zakres prowadzonych badań oraz na proces dydaktyczny. Dokonano przeglądu między innymi tematyki badań, studiów podyplomowych, stopni naukowych a także publikacji i współpracy międzynarodowej. Uogólnienia przedstawiono w postaci wniosków ze sfery nauka i dydaktyka.
Problems arising in the community of construction engineering and management experts are presented here. Results are based on a survey covering the period 2007-2010. Financial issues involved in research and teaching, and the overview of topics, including research, postgraduate studies, degrees, publications, international cooperation and collaboration with industry are presented. General conclusions have been drawn regarding teaching and learning, on the basis of suggestions presented by the surveyed academic community.
