Opis:
We consider the extended Hubbard model for the single cubic lattice and rewrite it in the form of interacting dimers, using the exact solution of the dimer problem. We analytically derive the second quantization form of the dimer Hamiltonian eliminating from the considerations unoccupied dimer energy levels in the large U limit (it is the only assumption). The resulting dimer Hamiltonian written with the use of the Hubbard operators and spin operators contains three terms, visualizing explicitly competing magnetic interactions (ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic) as a generalization of the t-J model. The presented, nonperturbative method, can in principle be applied to the cluster of any size (e.g. one central atom and z its nearest neighbours). The use of the projection technique can further be applied in the case of a crystal to obtain the second quantization form of the extended Hubbard model for the sc lattice in the large U limit.

Opis:
We use a recently proposed quantum SU(2)×U(1) rotor approach for the Hubbard model to calculate electronic spectral functions in a presence of an antiferromagnetic state for any value of the Coulomb interaction. We isolate the collective variables for charge and spin in the form of the space-time fluctuating U(1) phase field and SU(2) rotating spin quantization axis, respectively. As a result, the fermion Green function in the space-time domain becomes a product of a $CP^1$ propagator resulting from the SU(2) gauge fields, U(1) phase propagator and the pseudo-fermion correlation function. In turn, the spectral lines are obtained by performing the convolution of spin, charge and pseudo-fermion Green's functions. We observe an emergence of a sharp peak in the electron spectral functions within the antiferromagnetic phase, whose spectral weight is equal to the antiferromagnetic order parameter.

The Blume-Emery-Griffiths model for spins S=1 in a bilayer with z=5 nearest neighbours is studied with the use of Gaussian fluctuations approximation. The fluctuations of two molecular fields, connected with two order parameters, are introduced. Their influence on phase diagrams for non-negative values of the biquadratic coupling constant is taken under consideration. The results are compared with those obtained by the mean-field approximation and discussed.

Motivated by the recent success in describing the spin and orbital spectrum of a spin-orbital chain using a large-N mean-field approximation, we apply the same formalism to the case of a spin chain in the external magnetic field. It occurs that in this case, which corresponds to N=2 in the approximation, the large-N mean-field theory cannot qualitatively reproduce the spin excitation spectra at high magnetic fields, which polarize more than 50% of the spins in the magnetic ground state. This, rather counterintuitively, shows that the physics of a spin chain can under some circumstances be regarded as more complex than the physics of a spin-orbital chain.

The Falicov-Kimball model enriched with Ising-type Hund coupling between spins of itinerant electrons and magnetic ions is studied exactly on finite 1D rings. At half filling (one electron per site) and for the density of magnetic ions equal to 1/2 it is shown that many-electron collective excitations coupled to spin reorientations of the magnetic ions have much lower energy than single electron excitations. This property is caused by energy gaps formed at the Fermi levels in one-electron energy spectra of all relevant magnetic configurations of the ions. Consequently, low temperature properties of the system are not driven by one-particle, elementary electron excitations but many-particle collective excitations, where both electrons and spins of magnetic ions are involved. In addition, it is shown that many-body excitation spectra derived both from spin fluctuations and from charge fluctuations have a regular structure.

A model describing a Heisenberg ferromagnetic monolayer (in a magnetic field) interacting with its non-magnetic bulk substrate is formulated. We use reduced-density operators to show that physical properties of the monolayer are affected by its interaction with the environment. Particularly the influence of the substrate lattice vibrations on the monolayer exchange parameter is examined. The Gaussian-type orbitals were used to calculate the distance dependence of the exchange parameter and the many-body Green functions to calculate the temperature dependence of the magnetization. Finally, the influence of the Debye temperature of the substrate on the magnetization of the monolayer is depicted. Although the resultant effect is not prominent, we state that interaction of ultrathin magnetic films with their environment has to be taken into account in the construction of the reduced-density operator.

Using the exact decomposition of the sc lattice into a set of interacting dimers (each dimer is described by the extended Hubbard Hamiltonian) and exact solution of the dimer problem (preceding paper) we exactly find the form of the extended Hubbard model in the case of a crystal in the large U limit. We apply a new, nonperturbative approach based on the exact projection procedure onto a dimer subspace occupied by electrons in this limit (it is the only assumption). The resulting Hamiltonian is very complicated and contains a variety of multiple magnetic and nonmagnetic interactions deeply hidden in its original form (site representation). We also present a simplified version of the model to better visualize a mixture of different interactions resulting from this approach.

An attempt at including the centrifugal distortion effect in description of the rovibrational states of diatomic systems with a molecular potential approximated by the Morse function is presented. The derived Schrödinger equation can be rigorously solved leading to the eigenvalues in the form of a continued fraction, which are applied for evaluation of the molecular constants and for prediction of the rovibrational spectra of the selected diatomic molecules giving quite satisfactory reproduction of the experimental data. A simple extension of the method developed, by assuming the rotational dependence of the dissociation constant, is also proposed.

Effect of sodium sulfate addition (1-9 wt.%) on dissolutions of nickel and cobalt was also investigated. It was concluded that iron dissolution has increased with increased acid concentration. Dissolutions of nickel and cobalt increased with increasing roasting temperature and time below the decomposition temperature of related metal sulfates. It was concluded that addition of sodium sulfate in roasting stage has no significant effect on dissolutions of related metals.

We analyze the influence of hopping interaction on magnetic ordering. Scattering scheme of the Hubbard III approximation with included inter-site kinetic electron-electron correlation is used. The hopping interaction and inter-site correlation lead to two spin dependent effects: the band width correction and the band-shift correction. The band-shift correction factor causes an exchange splitting between the spin-up and spin-down spectrum, and its role is similar to the exchange interaction in the classic Stoner model. The spin dependent band width correction enhanced strongly by the inter-site kinetic correlation lowers the kinetic energy of electrons by decreasing the majority spin band width for some electron occupations with respect to the minority spin band width. The results show that in the case of the symmetrical density of states there is only ferromagnetic enhancement. For the strongly asymmetrical density of states there is a ferromagnetic transition.

The effect of frustration in various localized and itinerant vanadium oxide compounds is discussed within next nearest neighbors Heisenberg and spin fluctuation models, respectively. In the localized moment case the S=1/2 $J_1-J_2$-model on a square lattice exhibits a rich phase diagram with magnetic as well as exotic hidden order phases due to the interplay of frustration and quantum fluctuations. Their signatures in the high field magnetization and in magnetocaloric quantities are surveyed. The possible quantum phase transitions are discussed and applied to layered vanadium oxides of the type $AA'VO(PO_4)_2$ where A, A' = Pb, Zn, Sr, Ba, Cd. In itinerant electron systems magnetic frustration may emerge as a result of electron correlations on a geometrically frustrated lattice. This mechanism causes enhanced spin fluctuations in a large region of momentum space and therefore can lead to a heavy fermion state at low temperatures as in the 3d spinel compound $LiV_2O_4$. The evidence from neutron scattering and NMR experiments is discussed within self-consistent renormalization theory based on local density approximation band structure calculations.

We apply perturbation theory and cyclic spin permutation formalism to study the lowest energy states of the infinite-repulsion Hubbard model on n-leg ladders with alternating values of one-site energies α_{i} for neighboring rungs. We establish the "ferromagnetic" character of ladder ground-state at electron densities in the interval 1 - (2n)¯¹ ≤ ρ ≤ 1 and sufficiently large alternation of one-site energies of neighbor rungs of the ladder. We also show the stability of this state against the small deviations of the values of α_{i} in contrast to the case of two-leg ladder formed by weakly interacting neighbor rungs with equal one-site energies.

This paper presents the results of diagnostic examinations conducted on the coils of super-heaters made of 10CrMo9‒10 steel that were operated in industrial conditions at 480°C for 130 thousand hours. The tube was exposed in a coal-fired boiler. The chemical and phase composition of the oxide/deposit layers formed on both sides of the tube walls (outside – flue-gas side and inside – steam side) and their sequence was examined using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with electron backscatter diffraction and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The changes in the mechanical properties caused by corrosion and aging processes were concluded from the hardness measurements. In addition, the nature of cracks in the oxide layers caused by pressing a Vickers indenter was determined. The results of these examinations have shown a high degradation of steel on the flue-gas inflow side and identified the main corrosion products and mechanisms.

Opis:
In earlier experimental studies we have shown that in accordance with the principles of renormalization group theory the spin dynamics of ordered magnets is controlled by a boson guiding field instead by exchange interactions between nearest magnetic neighbors. In particular, thermal decrease of the magnetic order parameter is given by the heat capacity of the boson field. The typical signature of boson dynamics is that the critical power functions either at $T=T_{c}$ or at T=0 hold up to a considerable distance from critical temperature. The critical power functions of the atomistic models hold asymptotically at $T=T_{c}$ or at T=0 only. In contrast to the atomistic magnons field bosons cannot directly be observed using inelastic neutron scattering. However, for some classes of magnets the field bosons seem to have magnetic moment and thus are able to interact directly with magnons. This interaction, although weak in principle, leads to surprisingly strong functional modifications in the magnon dispersions at small q-values. In particular, the magnon excitation gap seems to be due to the magnon-boson interaction. In this communication we want to show that for small q-values the continuous part of the magnon dispersions can be fitted over a finite q-range by a power function of wave vector. The power function can be identified with the dispersion of the field bosons. It appears that for low q-values magnon dispersions get attracted by the boson dispersion and assume the dispersion of the bosons. This allows for an experimental evaluation of the boson dispersions from the known magnon dispersions. Exponent values of 1, 1.25, 1.5, and 2 have been identified. The boson dispersion relations and the associated power functions of temperature for the heat capacity of the boson fields are now empirically known for all dimensions of the field and for magnets with integer and half-integer spin quantum number. These are two 2× 3 exponent schemes.

The contractor renormalization group method was devised in 1994 by Morningstar and Weinstein. It was primarily aimed at extracting the physics of lattice quantum field theories (like lattice quantum chromodynamics). However, it is a general method of analyzing Hamiltonian lattice systems, e.g. Ising, Heisenberg or Hubbard models. The aim of this work is to show the application of contractor renormalization group method to one-dimensional quantum systems - the Heisenberg zig-zag model and the Hubbard chain. As a test of the method, the ground state energy of these systems will be calculated.

Crystal-melt interface was investigated during Czochralski growth of SrLaGaO$\text{}_{4}$ and SrLaAlO$\text{}_{4}$ crystals on ⟨001⟩ oriented seeds. Relations between the ratio of the core diameter, grown on (001) plane, and the crystal diameter, as a function of seed rotation speed were determined. It was confirmed that it is possible to control the core diameter during the crystal growth. A new module was introduced into the crystal growth controlling program. It enables to estimate the surface tension coefficient between crystal and melt at the beginning of crystallization. This value is then used to compute proper corrections for automatic weighting system.

Opis:
Purpose: The main goal of the work is to determine the influence of the parameters of stress relief annealing on the mechanical and structural properties of welded joints made of chromium-molybdenum type 10CrMo9-10 steel. Design/methodology/approach: In the study, commercial 10CRMO9-10 steel was used, the Polish equivalent of 10H2M. This is a chromium-molybdenum toughened steel, i.e. after normalization (910-960°C) and high tempering (650-780°C). The materials were subjected to heat treatment, tests of mechanical properties, Charpy impact test, hardness of individual material zones, as well as macro and microscopic observations. Findings: The hardness tests indicated, that materials subjected to a single heat treatment possess the greatest hardness. Materials undergoing several heat treatments, possess hardness on a similar level to materials that have been annealed once, however they are characterized by low reproducibility of results. The most important parameter of heat treatment of the tested steel is heating up to a temperature of 690°C. Due to such heating, optimal mechanical properties are achieved, which results in long and safe exploitation of the produced elements. Research limitations/implications: The processes of heat treatment are very important to achieve optimal strength properties of welded joints. Practical implications: The development of energy worldwide has caused the creation of machines working in higher pressure and temperature ranges. The influence of temperatures decreases the service life of a given element. The adaptation and completion of the appropriate process of heat treatment extends the exploitation time of elements. Originality/value: Determining the mechanical properties of 10H2M steel, dependent on the temperature of heat treatment and heating time. It was concluded that the optimal parameter of heat treatment for the tested materials – is heating at a temperature of 690°C.

Opis:
The purpose of the paper was to analyse the effect of diverse heat treatment parameters (normalising and tempering) on mechanical characteristics of the material used to develop ϕ508x20 tube bends made of the 10CrMo9-10 steel by application of induction heating. The research conducted included tests of basic mechanical properties as well as low cycle fatigue and creep at the temperature of 500°C. With reference to the results thus obtained, it has been established that there is a relationship between mechanical properties of bends and individual features of their microstructure conditional to the heat treatment parameters. Among other conclusions drawn in the research, it has been found that the main structural factor conditioning the mechanical properties of bends was the grain size. Heat treatment parameters characterised by lower temperature and shorter tempering time triggered changes in the material microstructure, such as increased grain comminution. The effects of the said changes included improvement of strength characteristics (Rm, Rp0,2) as well as increased material durability under conditions of fatigue and creep. Main criterion-specific mechanical properties and geometric features of the bends developed conformed with the relevant requirements of reference standards (PN-EN 10216-2, PN-EN 12952).

More and more frequently, new types of firearms have been encountered on Polish market, and they are sometimes difficult to classify under the relevant legislation (article 7 of the Polish Act on Firearms and Ammunition). The law-related classification is of high importance as it defines whether the possession of a given firearms requires a licence or not. The contradiction in interpretation of provisions in law has been apparent particularly in relation to KESER K-10 and ZORAKI K-10 revolvers. The hereby article aims to solve unambiguously these interpretation discrepancies.

Selected transparent polymers [i.e., polystyrene (PS) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)] were extruded with 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO). The obtained compositions were formed into testing samples by injection molding process. The obtained materials (containing 1–10 wt parts/100 wt parts of the polymer) exhibited higher melt flow rate and thermal resistance, as well as reduced flammability (while maintaining their mechanical properties). Additionally, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis of modified polymers was conducted. Studies confirmed that – during the extrusion and/or injection molding – DOPO reacts with PS and PMMA.

The Galois symmetry of exact Bethe Ansatz eigenstates for magnetic pentagonal ring is shown to bear a close analogy to some crystallographic constructions. Automorphisms of number field extensions associated with these eigenstates prove to be related to choices of the Bravais cells in the finite crystal lattice ℤ₂×ℤ₂, responsible for extension of the cyclotomic field by the Bethe parameters.

In this work we focus on the study of phase separation in the zero-bandwidth extended Hubbard with nearest-neighbors intersite Ising-like magnetic interactions J and on-site Coulomb interactions U. The system has been analyzed by means of the Monte Carlo simulations (in the grand canonical ensemble) on two-dimensional square lattice (with N = L × L = 400 sites) and the results for U/(4J) = 2 as a function of chemical potential and electron concentration have been obtained. Depending on the values of interaction parameters the system exhibits homogeneous (anti-)ferromagnetic or non-ordered phase as well as phase separation state. Transitions between homogeneous phases (i.e. antiferromagnetic-non-ordered transitions) can be of first or second order and the tricritical point is also present on the phase diagrams. The electron compressibility K is an indicator of the phase separation and that quantity is of particular interest of this paper.

The extended Hubbard model in the zero-bandwidth limit is studied. The effective Hamiltonian consists of (i) on-site U interaction, (ii) intersite density-density interaction W, and (iii) Ising-like magnetic exchange interaction J between the nearest-neighbors. We present rigorous (and analytical) results obtained within the transfer-matrix method for 1D chain in two particular cases: (a) W=0 and n=1; (b) U → +∞ and n=1/2 (W ≠ 0, J ≠ 0). We obtain the exact formulae for the partition functions which enables to calculate thermodynamic properties such as entropy, specific heat (c), and double occupancy per site. In both cases the system exhibits an interesting temperature dependence of c involving a characteristic two-peak structure. There are no phase transitions at finite temperatures and the only transitions occur in the ground state.

Disordered carbons prepared by slow pyrolysis of saccharose and anthracene and subsequent heat treatment at 1000ºC and 2300ºC have been studied by high energy X-ray diffraction. Computer simulations of the powder diffraction patterns of fullerenes, nanotubes and carbon models have been compared with the experimental data after conversion to real space via the Fourier transform. The presence of fullerene- and nanotube-like fragments with non-six membered rings in the investigated samples has been deduced by detailed analysis of the radial distribution functions of the saccharose- and anthracene-based carbons and related to resistance to graphitization of the saccharose-based carbons and to stability of the growing crystallites in the case of the anthracene-based carbons. The obtained results are compared to high resolution electron microscopy and Raman studies.

The S=1 pseudospin formalism was recently proposed to describe the charge degree of freedom in a model high-T_{c} cuprate with the on-site Hilbert space reduced to the three effective valence centers, nominally Cu^{1+;2+;3+}. With small corrections the model becomes equivalent to a strongly anisotropic S=1 quantum magnet in an external magnetic field. We have applied a generalized mean-field approach and quantum Monte-Carlo technique for the model 2D S=1 system to find the ground state phase with its evolution under deviation from half-filling and different correlation functions. Special attention is given to the role played by the on-site correlation ("single-ion anisotropy").

We introduce a spin ladder model incorporating localized and delocalized spins, which is exactly solvable using the decoration-iteration and transfer-matrix techniques. Quantum correlations between delocalized spins induce an antiferromagnetic coupling between the spin chains that competes with a direct ferromagnetic exchange coupling. A resulting kinetically-driven frustration is predominant in the regime of low temperatures and large hopping amplitudes. We provide the full ground-state phase diagram, as well as the frustration diagram on distinct coupling regimes.

The VASP code is employed for all calculations which are based on density functional theory. The substitutional point defects is introduced in the diamond bulk and occupied by the transition metals. Results exhibit that all transition metals show ferromagnetism behavior and Cu is a good advocate of conductivity among all transition metals. The range of magnetic moments is 2.89, 1.99, 1.96, and 1.80 $μ_{B}$ per Cu, Cd, Hg, and Zn atom in diamond bulk, respectively. Strong magnetic behavior points out that these materials could be used for spintronics.

On the occasion of the centennial of the invention of the Czochralski crystal growth process by the Polish scientist Jan Czochralski, a review of selected strategies for the automatic control of this process is given. This review provides a sketch of the fundamental challenges of controlling the Czochralski process and the basic concepts of feedback control. Both early and modern approaches to the control of the Czochralski process are described. The discussion focuses on questions related to feed-forward control, feedback control, and state estimation. The presented methods rely on simple mathematical process models in contrast to the finite element model-based approaches typically used in crystal growth process design and analysis. Such mathematical models motivate both the structure and parameters of the chosen controller. A comprehensive list of references to background literature on this topic completes this survey.

Opis:
The silicon transport in a silicon-germanium melt has been studied to address the issues of melt replenishment and seed production for the Czochralski growth of silicon germanium (SiGe) crystals. The growth of SiGe single crystals by the Czochralski method requires that the melt be replenished with silicon during the growth process due to the rejection of germanium into the melt during solidification. To facilitate the replenishment of the melt, an accurate knowledge of the dissolution rate of silicon into the melt and its transport through the melt is required. To address these issues, a number of experiments have been carried out on the dissolution of silicon into a germanium melt. Liquid phase diffusion growth experiments were also conducted for insight into transport and as a possible method for seed crystal production. The experiments encompassed various temperatures, crucible geometries, crucible translation, and magnetic field levels to determine optimum conditions for the most favorable dissolution rates and mass transport in the melt. Results have shown that replenishment from bottom of the crucible is most effective due to the enhanced silicon transport by buoyancy. The application of magnetic fields may also provide an effective mean to control the replenishment rate (mass transport rate) in the melt.

The static fluctuation approximation is applied for the first time to an electronic system. A simple model (a uniform electron fluid) is chosen to explore the applicability of static fluctuation approximation to electrons in metals. The thermodynamic properties - the internal energy per particle, the pressure, the entropy per unit volume, the heat capacity per unit volume, and the chemical potential - are calculated over a wide range of densities within the metallic-density region. Finally, the pair-correlation function for the electron fluid is evaluated. Values of this function are then tabulated for zero-interparticle separation at several densities of interest. The results of this work are found to be in good agreement with several other many-body calculations.

Using different approximations it has been shown that the magnetic moments created by inter-site interaction and inter-site kinetic correlation decrease quickly with temperature. As a result of these interactions and the realistic density of states the Curie temperatures calculated after fitting magnetic moments to their low temperature values are realistic. In the past the Curie temperatures calculated using only the on-site interaction were much higher than the experimental temperatures.

The electronic self-energy of the two-dimensional Hubbard model, computed in the non-crossing approximation within the composite operator method, is studied as a function of frequency as well as temperature at the Fermi surface, for a value of doping at which the pseudogap is already well developed. For values of momentum belonging to the phantom arc of the Fermi surface, both dependences show anomalous power law behavior in contrast to that expected from the Fermi liquid theory.

The experimental results for $ZrZn_2$, URhGe, and in some pressure ranges also for $UGe_2$, showed that the ferromagnetic superconductors are weak itinerant ferromagnets. Guided by these results we describe the phenomenon of coexistence between equal spin triplet pairing superconductivity and ferromagnetism using the extended Stoner model, which includes in Hamiltonian the on-site Coulomb interaction, U, and occupation dependent hopping integral. We use the Hartree-Fock approximation and the Green functions technique. In the Hartree-Fock approximation the on-site Coulomb interaction plays the role of the on-site exchange (Hund's) field. All inter-site interactions will have included the inter-site kinetic correlation, 〈$c_{iσ}^{+}c_{jσ}$〉, within the Hartree-Fock approximation. We introduce the pressure-dependence to the hopping integral. Numerical results are compared with experimental data for $ZrZn_2$. The kinetic correlation creates the superconductivity without help of negative values of the Coulomb interactions. The model can explain stimulation of triplet superconductivity by the weak itinerant ferromagnetism. This effect was observed experimentally in $ZrZn_2$. Numerical analysis also confirms the experimental effect of decrease in critical temperatures (Curie and superconducting) with increasing external pressure.

The key problem in using the dynamical mean-field theory is finding the appropriate solution to the single impurity Anderson model. We use the modified equation of motion method based on differentiation over two time variables. In such approach we obtain correct description of the Kondo effect not only for systems symmetrical with respect to the half-filled point but also for the systems without symmetry in a half filled point and for broad range of electron concentrations like e.g. the ferromagnetic systems. For the reason of these advantages we investigate in this report dependence of the system magnetic moment on carrier concentration using our modified equation of motion method. We also analyze influence of asymmetric densities of states on ferromagnetic alignment. Our results are compared with dynamical mean-field theory-quantum Monte Carlo calculations and with Hubbard I and III approximations.

We consider a single hole doped at an oxygen site and study its propagation by spin-flip processes. We develop the Green function method and treat the hole-spin coupling in the self-consistent Born approximation, similar to that successfully used to study polarons in the regular t-J model. We present an analytical solution of the problem and investigate whether the numerical integration is a good approximation to this solution.

XXX Heisenberg s-1/2 model has been examined in detail during last decades, however, recently one may find some new insights into that issue. Among several approaches describing the eigenproblem for the finite case, a close look into the structure of Bethe equations (BE) for the two-magnon sector case seems to be particularly interesting. BE enable us to evaluate parameters labeling eigenstates of a magnet, however to find appropriate sets of winding numbers, which parametrize BE, one has to apply the Inverse Bethe Ansatz method. On the other hand, one may choose a different - combinatoric approach - which also parametrizes Bethe eigenstates, with the use of rigging numbers describing string configurations. We present an idea of comparison of the concepts mentioned above for the particular case of two-spin deviations sector.

A simple effective model for a description of magnetically ordered insulators is analysed. The tight binding Hamiltonian consists of the effective on-site interaction (U) and intersite magnetic exchange interactions $(J^{z}, J^{xy})$ between nearest neighbours. The phase diagrams of this model have been determined within the variational approach, which treats the on-site interaction term exactly and the intersite interactions within the mean-field approximation. We show that, depending on the values of interaction parameters and the electron concentration, the system can exhibit not only homogeneous phases: (anti-)ferromagnetic $(F_α)$ and nonordered (NO), but also phase separated states $(PS_α: F_α-NO)$.

Opis:
In this paper the two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with intersite magnetic Ising-like interaction in the atomic limit is analyzed by means of the classical Monte Carlo method in the grand canonical ensemble. Such an effective simple model could describe behavior of insulating (anti)ferromagnets. In the model considered the Coulomb interaction (U) is on-site and the magnetic interactions in z-direction (J>0, antiferromagnetic) are restricted to nearest-neighbors. Simulations of the model have been performed on a square lattice consisting of N=L× L=400 sites (L=20) in order to obtain the full phase diagram for U/(4J)=1. Results obtained for on-site repulsion (U>0) show that, apart from homogeneous non-ordered (NO) and ordered magnetic (antiferromagnetic, AF) phases, there is also a region of phase separation (PS: AF/NO) occurrence. We present a phase diagram as well as some thermodynamic properties of the model for the case of U/(4J)=1 (and arbitrary chemical potential and arbitrary electron concentration). The AF-NO transition can be second-order as well as first-order and the tricritical point occurs on the diagram.

Geometrically frustrated quantum spin systems, with competing antiferromagnetic couplings, show the Kahn degenerate frustration for some specific values of Heisenberg Hamiltonian parameters. It has been recently shown for rings with a defect bond and centered rings. In the case of classical counterparts of these systems, degenerated configurations with the lowest energy are present for the energy function parameter greater than a certain threshold. In these domains such configurations are planar but non-collinear with continuous changes of the net magnetic moment with respect to the Hamiltonian parameter. Outside these domains there is unique collinear ground state configuration (neglecting choice of the net magnetic moment direction). However, these collinear configurations are the same in both non-frustrated and geometrically frustrated domains. Numerically exact calculations for quantum systems strongly confirm that determined properties of their classical counterparts realize the classical limit s→∞.

We investigate main theoretical aspects of two-dimensional linear-hybrid cellular automata with periodic boundary condition over the Galois field GF(2). We focus on the characterization of two-dimensional hybrid linear cellular automata by way of a special algorithm. Here we set up a relation between reversibility of cellular automata and characterization of two-dimensional hybrid linear cellular automata with a special boundary conditions, i.e. periodic case. The determination of the characterization problem of special type of cellular automaton is studied by means of the matrix algebra theory. It is believed that this type of cellular automata could find many different applications in special case situations, e.g. image processing area, textile design, video processing, DNA research, etc., in the near future.

The spatial arrangement of magnetic Cu(II) ions and network of covalent bonds suggest that the studied material might be a representative of S = 1/2 sawtooth chain with moderate exchange coupling J/$k_{B}$. The investigation of the temperature dependence of susceptibility and magnetic field dependence of magnetization yielding J/$k_{B}$ ≈ - 0.63 K is consistent with the structural features. In addition, specific heat data reveal short-range correlations in milikelvin temperature range and indicate long-range ordering below 150 mK.

This research is inspired by analogical properties of certain polynomials which are the object of interest of the symmetric function theory, especially the Jack polynomials (related to the so-called "Jack states"). Presented method may be used in the search of candidate trial wave functions. We also justify (in certain cases) diagonalization of the Coulomb repulsion Hamiltonian restricted to certain subspaces. Bethe Ansatz is the famous method of determination of eigenstates and eigenenergies for a wide range of quantum problems, e.g. for the Heisenberg XXX s=1/2 model. The Bethe equations applied to solve the problem of N nodes and r overturned spins on a magnetic chain are labeled by sets of winding numbers ${n_i}$, however the condition for admissible sets give an overcomplete number of results. On the other hand, combinatorial objects, so called "paths", give the exact number of eigenvectors for the problem described by (N,r) values. The paper presents the method of determining the set of winding numbers from the appropriate path for the sector of r=2 spin deviations.

Opis:
In the past decade there has been an explosive growth in the consumption of sapphire driven by the demands of the next generation of energy efficient general lighting based on GaN LEDs. This application requires orienting these rhombohedral corundum crystals such that the substrate surface is the c-plane; a basal plane defined using hexagonal axes. Sapphire crystals form a strong facet on the c-plane, and growth in that direction generally results in crystals with high defect densities, particularly dislocations, and low angle grain boundaries. To overcome this drawback, the usual methodology is to grow the crystal in the a-direction and then core drill rods perpendicularly which are then sliced into c-plane substrates. For all crystal growth techniques commonly employed for sapphire, this approach suffers from poor material utilization. Although this has generally been viewed as an acceptable trade-off in the manufacturing process as long as 2" substrates were the dominant market, as substrate diameters have increased towards 150 mm and larger, this compromise is no longer seen as a viable alternative because of the low material utilization and the high energy consumption of the growth process. This has led to a renewed look at the Czochralski process for more efficient c-axis substrate production.

In this paper there is presented the mechanical behavior of the one lead-zirconate-titanate by its atomic number and its certain mechanical behavior is simulated by the mathematical modeling and ABAQUS software for smart materials, as well as prediction of mechanical behaviors. Also in this smart material (Pb-Zr-Ti) the grain size according to molar ratio is studied. This mechanical behavior is modeled by the exponential and polynomial formula from one to ten degree. Next there are defined the new relations for mechanical behavior and composition weight ratio, between composed elements for triplex lead-zirconate-titanate and dual smart materials. Triplex lead-zirconate-titanate has been selected as main and important material for the development of smart structures. In addition, the relation between atomic number and weight ratio in one smart material (Ni-Ti) is investigated briefly. In this work, change of resistance and voltage, pressure, grain size, molar ratio, residual stress, content of zirconate and the other mechanical properties are studied.

We present the model of superconducting ceramics using the single band extended Hubbard Hamiltonian. We investigate the simultaneous presence of antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity in the coherent potential approximation applied to the on-site Coulomb repulsion U. We consider the hopping interaction, Δt, the inter-site charge-charge interaction, V (creating superconductivity), and the single site Hund type exchange interaction, $F_\text{in}$ (creating antiferromagnetism). The influence of these interactions on the separation of superconducting and antiferromagnetic phases near the half-filling point is investigated. Results are compared with the experimental data for YBaCuO and NdCeCuO compounds.

Using ferromagnetic Fermi liquid theory, Bedell and Blagoev derived the collective low-energy excitations of a weak ferromagnet. They obtained the well-known magnon (Nambu-Goldstone) mode and found a new gapped mode that was never studied in weak ferromagnetic metals. In this article we have identified this mode as the Higgs boson (amplitude mode) of a ferromagnetic metal. This is identified as the Higgs since it can be shown that it corresponds to a fluctuation of the amplitude of the order parameter. We use this model to describe the itinerant-electron ferromagnetic material MnSi. By fitting the model with the existing experimental results, we calculate the dynamical structure function and see well-defined peaks contributed from the magnon and the Higgs. Our estimates of the relative intensity of the Higgs amplitude mode suggest that it can be seen in neutron scattering experiments on MnSi.

Positronium will play a primary role in the next generation of antimatter experiments through the following antihydrogen production reaction: p̅ + Ps* → p̅e⁺ + e¯. In order to study antimatter physical properties (CPT (charge, parity, time) invariance and principle of equivalence test) it is necessary to keep this system at the lowest possible (sub-kelvin) temperatures. This requires the generation of a suitable flux of cold Ps atoms in a vacuum, a non-trivial requirement at the light of the present experimental results. In this paper we discuss the state of the actual knowledge on positronium formation and consequent emission from metallic surfaces and insulators and we show the opportunity to use suitable porous materials to cool positronium through collisions with the inner walls of the pores. We get a rough indication on the geometrical parameters of the pore and we propose a simple experiment to obtain the kinetic energy - and therefore the equivalent temperature - of emitted positronium without using a positron beam.

We study the two-orbital Hubbard model in the limit of vanishing kinetic energy. The phase diagram in the V-J plane, with V and J denoting the interorbital hybridization and exchange coupling respectively, at half filling is obtained. A singlet(dimer)-triplet transition is found for a critical value of the ratio V/J. The entropy of formation, both in the mode and in the particle pictures, presents a jump at the same critical line in conformity with the suggested relation between criticality and entanglement.

We present a study of the magnetic properties of a mixed ferro-ferrimag-netic ternary alloy of the type $AB_p C_{1-p}$ on a cubic lattice consisting of three different Ising spins $S_A$ =3/2, $S_B$ = 2, and $S_C$ = 5/2. We employ the mean-field approximation and Monte Carlo simulation to find the compensation temperatures of the system for selected values of the parameters in the model Hamiltonian. In particular, the relation between considered mixed ferro-ferrimagnetic model and magnetic properties of the ternary metal Prussian blue analog such as $(Fe_p^{II}Mn_{1-p}^{II})_1.5$ $[Cr^{III}(CN)_6] \cdot nH_2O$ is discussed.

We discuss some of the recently proposed models dealing with the superconducting state in the presence of strong antiferromagnetic fluctuations, induced by the on-site Coulomb repulsion between electrons (the Hubbard correlation). In the weak coupling limit we treat the influence of correlation effects on the phonon-mediated superconductivity within the BCS-Eliashberg framework. As a non-standard model in this limit we describe next the so-called spin bag model. To discuss strong correlation limit, we describe first the projected Hamiltonian (the t-J Hamiltonian) and the corresponding antiferromagnetic state. The resonating valence bond model is introduced both as a naive version, equivalent to the BCS treatment of the transverse spin fluctuations, as well as a holon-spinon version.

The paper examines part of the ground state diagram of the extended Hubbard model, with the on-site attraction U<0 and intersite repulsion W>0 in the presence of charge density waves, superconducting andη-superconducting order parameters. We show the possibility of the stabilization of the mixed state, with all three nonzero order parameters, in the model with nearest neighbor interactions. The other result of the paper is application of the exact solution of the Schrödinger equation for the two-electron bound state, as an additional bound for the phase diagram of the model, resulting in the partial suppression of the superconducting state of the s-wave symmetry, in favor of the normal state phase.

The behaviour of an Ising spin glass (S=1/2) with infinite range interactions is modelled using a numerical simulation based on a neural network. Thermodynamic variables are defined on the network, and are found to obey the Thouless-Anderson-Palmer theory when the applied magnetic field is zero. When a magnetic field is applied along the spin direction, complex field-dependent behaviour appears, including a state in which the Edwards-Anderson order parameter is independent of temperature below the critical temperature.

The Mott-Hubbard transition in the three-dimensional Hubbard model is studied by means of the composite operator method. Analytical and numerical calculations show the existence of a critical value U$\text{}_{c}$ of the Coulomb interaction which separates paramagnetic insulating and metallic phases. In the composite operator method the ratio U$\text{}_{c}$/W, where W is the band width, has the same value as in the two-dimensional case. The ground state of the Mott insulator is characterized by a local antiferromagnetic order where the electrons keep some mobility, but this latter must be compatible with the local ordering. By analyzing the intersite hopping it is possible to establish that some correlation functions behave as order parameters in the insulating phase.

Methods of absolute structure determination for molecules containing only light atoms (C, H, N, O) are discussed in the paper. This experimentally difficult problem has a direct application in the structure determination of naturally originated compounds and modern chiral drugs. Several experimental methods of absolute structure determination like electron diffraction, multiple X-ray diffraction and X-ray anomalous scattering techniques are briefly discussed and compared. An application of dedicated azimuthal scan method for the case of hexamethylenetetramine is given as an illustration of this technique.

The paper presents microstructures of steel designated for the operation at elevated temperatures in the power industry. Materials were examined both in the initial state as well as after the operation. The microstructure was examined using triafol replicas to determine the degree of materials wearing out. The quality of the structure representation on triafol replicas was checked, comparing them with the images from microsections. Attempts were made to improve the structure image quality on replicas through application of various degrees of microsection etching, and observation of unshaded and shaded replicas. The paper presents also most frequently encountered technological defects originating during replica preparation.

Opis:
The formation of misfit dislocation was studied in GaAs homoepitaxial layers on the substrates containing considerable amount of isoelectronic indium. The layers were grown with metal-oxide chemical vapour deposition and chemical vapour deposition methods including low temperature process with tertiarbutylarsine arsenic source. The critical conditions of misfit dislocation formation were exceeded up to 5×. The samples were examined before and after epitaxial process with a number of different X-ray topographic and diffractometric methods, including high resolution synchrotron white beam topography. The crystallographic identification of the defects was supported by the numerical simulation of topographic images. It was found that a number of threading dislocations, continuing in the epitaxial layer from those existing in the substrate, did not take part in the formation of misfit dislocations despite a suitable slip system. On the other hand, the formation of misfit dislocations from small imperfections of epitaxial deposit was proved in many cases. A reasonable good quality of the layers was confirmed by the resolution of individual defects and only small broadening of rocking curves.
