The article is based on the analyses of two photo-texts by young Polish photographers, Paweł Starzec and Łukasz Gniadek. Both artists show cultural landscapes in a ‘new topography’ style to tell stories about the war trauma of inhabitants of displayed areas. Makeshift by Starzec is dedicated to victims of the 1992-95 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Under the Surface by Gniadek refers to Polish Jews history in Warsaw. Photographers present no visual signs of the bygone tragedy, however – through focusing on landscapes – they direct attention of the viewer to the drama of human loss. Remembering that, according to the title of Susan Sontag’s book, in photography we ‘regard the pain of Others’, I state that a view of pain does not have to be the main means used in visual narration on suffering. Paradoxically, it is a ‘view’ that blocks the empathy for the Other. Thus we need a non-view to understand the experience of those who suffer.

Recenzja książki Łukasza Biskupskiego Kinofilia zaangażowana. Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Filmu Artystycznego „Start” i upowszechnianie kultury filmowej w latach 30. XX w. (2017). Autor z powodzeniem dokonał rewizji wiedzy o przedwojennym stowarzyszeniu „Start” z punktu widzenia nowej historii filmu, a więc w wyniku powrotu do archiwalnych źródeł i krytycznej oceny dotychczasowych ustaleń. Przekonująco uzasadnił potrzebę reinterpretacji dokonań członków „Startu” z perspektywy historyka, który nie należy do tamtego pokolenia. Autor z powodzeniem uniknął nostalgii właściwej pierwszym historykom „Startu” czy tonu rozliczenia z pokoleniem komunistów. Wpisał ich inicjatywę w kontekst aktywności pierwszego pokolenia kinofilów w międzywojennej Europie. Ponadto przesunął akcent z ich działalności filmowej na działalność związaną z animowaniem kultury filmowej, zrekonstruował wewnętrzne dysputy estetyczne i polityczne w „Starcie”, zrewidował kalendarium oraz filmografię startowców. Tekst autorski wzbogacił wyborem artykułów prasowych startowców oraz ilustracji – do tej pory szerzej nieudostępnianych i niekomentowanych przez historyków kina.
A review of Łukasz Biskupski’s book Kinofilia zaangażowana. Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Filmu Artystycznego „Start” i upowszechnianie kultury filmowej w latach 30. XX w. [Engaged Cinephilia. Association of Enthusiasts of Artistic Film “Start” and Dissemination of Film Culture in the 1930s] (2017). The author successfully re-examined the knowledge about the pre-war association “Start” from the point of view of the new history of the film, that is as a result of archival investigation and critical analysis of previous findings. He convincingly justified the need to reinterpret the achievements of “Start” members from the perspective of a historian who does not belong to that generation. The author successfully avoided the nostalgia of the first historians of “Start” or the tone of coming to terms with the generation of communists. He placed their initiative in the context of the activity of the first generation of cinephiles in interwar Europe. In addition, he shifted the accent from their film activities to activities related to the animation of film culture, he reconstructed internal aesthetics and political disputes in the “Start”, revised the timeline and filmography of its members. He enriched his own text by a selection of press articles by “Start” members and illustrations until now, not widely available and not commented on by film historians.

Opis:
The article discusses Łukasz Surowiec’s Berlin-Birkenau project under which the artist planted in Berlin several hundred birches from the area around the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. The goal of the work defined by the artist was to create living monuments of the Holocaust and to propose the changes in the dynamics of Polish-German relations. In the article, I propose interpreting Surowiec’s work through the symbolic role of birches in the history of Polish culture and environmental history of the Holocaust. Such interpretation reveals the ambiguity of the gesture of replanting trees, the inability to classify it as an act of giving responsibility to the Germans or Polish-German reconciliation.

Kościół parafialny w Kobylance, pełniący funkcję sanktuarium Chrystusa Ukrzyżowanego, nie budził jak dotąd większego zainteresowania historyków i historyków sztuki. Fundacji niewielkiej świątyni murowanej podjął się wojewoda sandomierski, Jan Wielopolski (zm. 1774), a budowę, zapewne według projektów Francesco Placidiego, przeprowadzono w latach ok. 1743-1750. Architekt był odpowiedzialny także za projekty przykościelnej dzwonnicy oraz pięciu ołtarzy. Główna nastawa mieszcząca obraz Ukrzyżowanego została wykonana w marmurze dębnickim, natomiast cztery pozostałe w polichromowanym i pozłacanym drewnie. Rzeźby zdobiące ołtarze wykonał rzeźbiarz odpowiedzialny za prace przy ołtarzu w kaplicy św. Jana Chrzciciela przy kościele Mariackim w Krakowie. Z kolei obrazy zdobiące nastawy oraz oprawę chrzcielnicy wyszły spod pędzla krakowskiego malarza Łukasza Orłowskiego.
The parish church in Kobylanka—a  sanctuary of Christ Crucified—has  not attracted much interest from historians and art historians. The foundation of the parish church was undertaken by the voivode of Sandomierz, Jan Wielopolski (d. 1774), based on the designs of architect Francesco Placidi, and was carried out in the years ca. 1743–1750. The architect was also responsible for the designs of the church bell tower and five altars. The main altar with the image of the Crucified was made of Dębnik marble, the other four were made of polychrome wood. The sculptures adorning the altars were made by the sculptor responsible for the work at the altar in the chapel of St. John the Baptist at St. Mary's Church in Krakow. On the other hand, the paintings in the altars and the baptismal font were painted by Łukasz Orłowski, a Krakow painter.

The article presents the personality and spirituality of the Polish soldier, Colonel Łukasz Ciepliński (1913–1951), as a personal role model for contemporary men. The main source is secret messages written by him from a prison cell, which are an extremely valuable document about this character. The article presents the personality and male characteristics of a Polish officer: internal integration, maturity, bravery, care for others. There are also signs of the great respect he had for family values, for he was himself a husband and father. Another issue is his Christian spirituality: in suffering, like many prominent figures of the Church, he shows an extraordinary increase in theological virtues (faith, hope and love) as well as union with Christ and readiness for martyrdom.

The article specifies the role of rationalism in the work of a distinguished Baroque author, Łukasz Opaliński. The source material for the study consists of: Rozmowa Plebana z Ziemianinem (1641), Polonia defensa contra Ioan[nem] Barclaium (1648), Coś nowego (1652), Pauli Naeoceli de officiis libri tres (1659), Poeta nowy (1661–1662).Łukasz Opaliński stated that reason is the most important cognitive faculty of the human being. Reason makes it possible to understand the rules of natural law, which is the source of ethical action among humans, and brings on understanding of the eschatological aim of human life, that is salvation. The possibilities of rational explanation do not, however, encompass the mysteries of religious faith or the basic concepts of natural philosophy, such as the elements, which are the principal components of matter.Rationalism belongs to the principal ideas of Opaliński’s political philosophy. He opted for a rational organization of the state and for rational ways of solving social problems (he underscored the role of common sense, rational dialogue of citizens and rational responsibility for the common good). The political formation that is best suited for rationalization of social life is monarchy. Seeing it as a model government, the author realised that it could not be introduced in the Poland of the 17th century, and consequently, apart from the eulogy of the monarchy, he proposed improvements in gentry democracy, especially in limiting of the “golden freedom”.An important sphere of externalization of Opaliński’s rationalist ideals was his theoretical thought on literature. He critically evaluated some examples of Baroque art of conceit. He underscored the role of rational sources of creativity and rational discipline in structuring a literary work, and his postulates in this field were close to the concepts of classicist criticism.

The dynamic and range of polemics among social scientists can testify to branches of science vivacity and progress. Especially when those polemics’ implications are not closed inside the academic world, but they influence social and political life. This situation refers to liberal-communitarian debate. In 1956 Peter Laslett in Philosophy, Politics and Society announced the death of political philosophy. This subdisciplines’ end, as well as the whole philosophy, was connected with the rudimental modern world’s split in the humanistic and scientific vision. The collapse and rot of the political philosophy (Leo Strauss) reached their culmination in the logical positivism and its derivatives’ supremacy time. This neopositivism had been looking for the clear criteria of the science and metaphysic’s demarcation and, at the same time, had tried to exclude metaphysic outside the legitimated reflection.

L ’examen des significations des mots dont Luc appelait les pécheurs: ofeletai, anomoi, adikoi, peneroi, acharistoi et encore qu’il utilisait pour définir les péchés: kakia, hamartia, permet de préciser ce que Luc comprenait par péché; c’était un vaste éventail de manquements à Dieu, concernant Dieu lui-même et embrassant les rapports entre les humains. L e vocabulaire, concernant la rémission des péchés, metanoeo, epistrefo et afiemi, prouve que Luc ne considère pas le péché en tant que dette envers Dieu; les péchés ne sauraient être remis qu’à ceux qui regrettent et se convertissent. II en est ainsi pour le baptême (apolouo) et pour la rémission des péchés accomplis après le baptême. La rémission est entière (axaleifo ), ce qui montre une suprême clémence de Dieu éprouvant de la joie à faire du bien aux hommes. Luc apporta au monde hellénique l’idée du péché avec lequel il nous faut compter et, soulignant l’importance des commandements de Dieu, rendit plus lucide la conception sémite du péché. Sa façon de considérer le péché et principalement l’oubli des péchés qu’il professait amenèrent la paix dans la vie quotidienne des fidèles.

Der Autor stellt Lukas Konzeption der Heilsgeschichte vor und polemisiert gleichzeitig mit einigen Thesen von H. Conzelmann. 1 . Im ersten Teil verweist er auf das besondere Interesse des Lukas an Tatsachen aus dem Leben Jesu /Lk 1, 1-4/. Dieses Interesse trägt jedoch keinen chronistischen und biographischen, sondern theologischen Charakter. Indem er nämlich diese Tatsachen durch ein Partizip – pepleroforemena – bezeichnet, sieht er in ihnen die Erfüllung der alttestamentlichen Verheissungen und die Realisierung der Heilsökonomie. Beim Beschreiben dieser Tatsachen sützt er sich nich auf gewöhnliche Quellen, sondern auf “Zeugnisse von Dienern des Wortes”. Das Ziel schliesslich, das ihm vorschwebt, besteht nich in der Befriedigung der Neugier der Adressaten, sondern in der Stärkung ihres Glaubens. 2. Im zweiten Teil wird Lukas Konzeption der Heilsgeschichte dargelegt. Zuerst kritisiert der Autor die Periodisierung dieser Geschichte nach H. Conzelmann, der die Heilsgeschichte in drei Etappen einteilte: die Zeit Israels, die Zeit Jesu und die Zeit der Kirche. Anstelle der Gliederung in drei Zeiträume schlägt er eine Zweiteilung vor und begründet sie: die Zeit der Ankündigung /Altes Testament/ und die Zeit ser Erfüllung /Neues Testament/. Die Zeit der Erfüllung realisiert sich in zwei Zeiträumen: der Zeit Jesu und der der Kirche. Zwischen der Zeit Jesu und der der Kirche besteht eine enge Analogie und ein tiefer Zusammenhang; in beiden diesen Zeiträumen wirkt der Heilige Geist. 3. Jesus Christus in der Heilsgeschichte. Die von Lukas mit Vorliebe verwendeten christologischen Titel bringen den Zusammenhang von Jesus und der Heilsgeschichte zum Ausdruck. Jesus ist ein Prophet, denn in Ihm begegnen wir allen für einen Propheten charakteristischen Zügen: Er wurde von Gott gesandt, um die Offenbarung und das Wort Gottes zu bringen. Er ist der von Mose angekündigte Prophet der Endzeit /Apg 3, 18-26/. Er erfüllt und realisiert Gottes Heilspläne. Er ist ein wortgewaltiger Prophet. Jesus ist der Erlöser, der das von Ihm verkündigte Heil realisiert. Das Heil, das Er bringt, ist allseitig und radikal; es beruht auf der Befreiung des Menschen aus mannigfacher Versklavung, aus dem Gefängnis, aus Not und gesellschaftlicher Erniedrigung, von Krankheit, Tod, vom bösen Geist und von der Sünde. 4. Der Ort der Kirche in der Heilsgeschichte. Lukas ist der erste Theologe der Kirche. Wie ist die Beziehung der Kirche zu Jesus? Der auferstandene Kyrios ist in der zum Brotbrechten versammelten Gemeinschaft anwesend. Die Szene der wandernden Emmausjünger birgt das Geheimnis der Geschichte der Kirche. Jesus begleitet sie auf diesem Weg. Die Geschichte der Kirche ist daher kein von Jesus entfernter Raum. Lukas unterstreicht besonders den Missionscharakter der Kirche. Das Muster für die Missionstätigkeit der Kirche ist Jesus selbst. Lukas erblickt schliesslich die heilsgeschichtliche Kontinuität von Kirche und alttestamentlichen Israel. Die Kirche erwuchs aus dem frommen Israel, das im Tempel den Trost Israels erwartete. Dadurch reichen ihre Wurzeln bis ins Alte Testament zurück.

A serious disease of the contemporary world is a state of “the loss of being”. We started to see redundance of metaphysics as a result of reduction of reality to a physical dimension that had been made by positivism. There was no place for scientific discipline which subject had undergone destruction. Being was reduced to objects, to objectivity, to things which only appear to man. “is way we have lost the being, only objects have stayed, things which surrounded us (…) the true existence is confront with material existence.” The same vision of contemporary situation can be found among representatives of the “end of philosophy” discourse such as J.-F. Lyotard, G. Vattimo, O. Marquardt, R. Rorty, P. Laslett.

The study is an analysis and interpretation of a scene from Łukasz Górnicki’s tragedy Troas (1589), a translation of Seneca’s Troades. A comparison to the original as well as the description of changes introduced by the translator serve to capture a special phenomenon of emphasising the analogy between Ulysses’s and a diplomat’s activity. Starting with the main character’s first line, the words: “durae minister sortis” were translated as “Ja, co poselstwo niosę”. The analysis of this issue shows that the role of Ulysses (who does not negotiate with a representative of a sovereign country, but with a captive woman) cannot be equated with the role of an ambassador. Conversely, it combines in itself the features characteristic of diplomatic staff of various ranks, including characters operating on the edge of the law. The consilium ascribed to Ulysses enables to explore the secret of Andromacha by observing physical symptoms of emotions. This makes it possible for Górnicki to define the main character’s ingenuity as “dowcip odwrócony na nice” which, irrespective of Seneca’s original, refers to the terminology used earlier in Dworzanin polski, where dowcip (wit) is the equivalent of ingegno. Among the ethical elements of Ulysses’s speeches one should name, above all, his desire to convince Andromacha to accept the Greek’s line of argumentation. This, in turn, provides good framework for parallelism with the New Testament (Lk 2:35). The last part of the work, devoted to pathos, addresses the problem of a mismatch between the role of Ulysses and diplomacy codes in Górnicki’s times. The main character does not limit himself to conducting well thought-out negotiations, but he also uses direct violence. Similar dissonance in character construction seems to make the representation of diplomatic practices in Górnicki’s translation a problematic task, given the socio-political tensions in Europe in the second half of sixteenth century.

Norwidian Literary Monuments   The article discusses functions of quoting pre-Romantic authors in Norwid’s literary and discursive texts. The author argues that Norwid treated Franciszek Karpiński, Piotr Skarga, and Ignacy Krasicki as commentators of the nineteenth-century world and consequently as ‘literary monuments’ who participated in forging the contemporary cultural reality. In Norwid’s works, these authors themselves, not only their texts, became sui generis manifestations and figures of the fate of an unanswered prophet, or an advocate of home truths; as such they became mythologised. One can also find in Norwid’s works, however, elements of the discussion with literary tradition, which proves that he actively engaged with some of the ‘monuments’ of literature (cf. the case of Łukasz Górnicki).

This paper will analyze the hip-hop art composition as an intermedial structure created from such elements as: musical text, post-typographic orature and visual image, in which the postmoderm poetics is linked with elements of archaic oral culture. Its connection allows the author to exceed the limits of the contemporary “high” art and create the common text-reality which mediates between the sender and the receiver. In the paper I will also analyze the intratextual persuasive mechanisms and rhetorical strategies which allow the rap artist to present his own vision of the world to the listener. The analysis is based on the works of Łukasz Rostkowski (stage name L.U.C.), especially the album 38/89 Understanding Poland.

Historians have been interested in the Bishop of Warmia Łukasz Watzenrode for many years, mainly because of his close affinity with Nicolas Copernicus and the complicated history of the Diocese of Warmia during this bishop's reign. The part of Łukasz's life which preceded his bishop's election has not aroused such interest. And therefore this article is about this less known fragment of his biography. It deals with the issues related to Watzenrode taking lesser vows and being ordained a priest. The information about bishop Watzenrode having all ordines, including the priesthood, at the end of the 1470s was questioned. The research showed that it was not until the spring of 1487 that he received all higher ordinations. This fact should be connected with the plans of appointing him to the Episcopal capital of Lidzbark Warmiński as a successor of Mikołaj Tungen.

Artykuł przedstawia postać polskiego żołnierza, pułkownika Łukasza Cieplińskiego (1913-1951), jako wzór osobowy dla współczesnych mężczyzn. Głównym źródłem, na którym opiera się autor, są grypsy pisane przez Cieplińskiego z celi więziennej, stanowiące niezwykle cenny materiał dokumentujący ostatni okres jego życia. W artykule zostały omówione jego osobowościowe oraz męskie cechy jako polskiego oficera: wewnętrzna integracja, dojrzałość, męstwo, troska o innych. Wskazany jest też jego wielki szacunek wobec wartości rodzinnych, jako męża i ojca, oraz jego religijność oparta na chrześcijańskiej duchowości. Jak wiele wybitnych postaci Kościoła, pułk. Ciepliński w cierpieniu przejawiał niezwykły wzrost cnót teologalnych (wiary, nadziei i miłości), a także zjednoczenie z Chrystusem i gotowość do śmierci męczeńskiej.
The article presents the personality and spirituality of the Polish soldier, Colonel Łukasz Ciepliński (1913–1951), as a personal role model for contemporary men. The main source is secret messages written by him from a prison cell, which are an extremely valuable document about this character. The article presents the personality and male characteristics of a Polish officer: internal integration, maturity, bravery, care for others. There are also signs of the great respect he had for family values, for he was himself a husband and father. Another issue is his Christian spirituality: in suffering, like many prominent figures of the Church, he shows an extraordinary increase in theological virtues (faith, hope and love) as well as union with Christ and readiness for martyrdom.

W artykule poświęconym filmowi Łukasza Barczyka Loska zwraca uwagę na wykorzystanie przez reżysera strategii postmodernistycznych oraz sięgnięcie przez niego do konwencji historii alternatywnej. Rozpoczynając od nakreślenia kontekstów związanych z powstaniem wielkopolskim, autor przechodzi do spirytyzmu i mediumizmu jako zjawisk w sposób szczególny odciskających swoje piętno na fabule filmowej, ponieważ alternatywna historia powstania została pokazana przez pryzmat walki telepatów. Odrodzenie tradycji ezoterycznych Loska uznaje – za Wolfgangiem Welschem – za jeden z wyróżników postmodernizmu (ze względu na zwrot ku alternatywnym formom poznania). Autor stara się wykazać, że w Hiszpance kluczową rolę odgrywa proces fabularyzacji faktów, czyli wykorzystania materiałów historycznych do zbudowania wyobrażeniowej fikcji.
In the article devoted to Łukasz Barczyk’s film, Loska draws attention to the post-modernist strategies used by the director and his use of the convention of alternative history. Beginning with delineating contexts related to the Greater Poland Uprising, the author moves on to spiritism and mediumism as phenomena in a special way imprinting on the film plot, because the alternative history of the uprising was shown through the prism of a war of telepaths. Loska, following Wolfgang Welsch, considers the revival of the esoteric traditions as one of the features of post-modernism (due to the turn towards alternative forms of cognition). The second book of The Polish Courtier, Łukasz Górnicki’s paraphrase of Castiglione’s The Book of The Courtier, contains a study of courtly jesting. This is where, among other jests, two scatological jokes attributed to Mikołaj Rej appear. Most scholars considered them as evidence of a coarse sense of humour, incompatible with courtly pleasantry. And yet Górnicki treated Rej’s witticisms as superb examples of sophisticated jesting. The article presents an analysis of these jokes in the context of Górnicki’s discourse on courtly wit, Castiglione’s The Book of The Courtier, Cicero’s De oratore, Renaissance jests and old Polish satirical poetry. The analysis reveals complexity, unobvious meanings and function of scatological witticisms attributed to Rej and allows to understand reasons for the high regard in which Górnicki held them.

Artykuł proponuje analizę i interpretację sceny z tragedii Łukasza Górnickiego Troas (1589), będącej przekładem Troades Seneki. Porównanie z oryginałem i opis zmian wprowadzonych przez tłumacza mają na celu uchwycenie szczególnego zjawiska, jakim jest zaakcentowanie w przekładzie analogii postępowania Ulissesa z działalnością dyplomaty: od pierwszej kwestii bohatera, słowa „durae minister sortis” przetłumaczone zostały jako „ja, co poselstwo niosę”. Analiza tego zagadnienia pokazuje zarazem, że rola Ulissesa (pertraktującego nie z przedstawicielem suwerennego państwa, ale z branką) nie może zostać utożsamiona z funkcją ambasadora, lecz łączy w sobie cechy właściwe personelowi dyplomatycznemu różnego szczebla, w tym postaci działających na krawędzi legalności. Przypisane Ulissesowi consilium umożliwia przeniknięcie tajemnicy Andromachy za pomocą obserwacji cielesnych symptomów emocji. Pozwala to Górnickiemu określić przemyślność bohatera jako „dowcip odwrócony na nice”, co stanowi – niezależne od oryginału Seneki – na wiązanie do terminologii użytej wcześniej w Dworzaninie polskim, gdzie dowcip jest odpowiednikiem ingegno. Wśród etycznych elementów mów Ulissesa wymienić należy przede wszystkim jego pragnienie przekonania Andromachy do słuszności racji Greków. Zjawisko to stanowi ramę dla wystąpienia paralelizmu z Nowym Testamentem (Łk 2, 35). Ostatnia część, poświęcona pathos, podejmuje problem nieprzystawalności roli Ulissesa do kodów dyplomacji epoki Górnickiego. Bohater nie ogranicza się do prowadzenia przemyślnych negocjacji, ale posługuje się również przemocą bezpośrednią. Rozmowa Polaka z Włochem (A Discussion between a Pole and an Italian) is one of the most important political works by Łukasz Górnicki. Written at the end of the 16th century, it was repeatedly reprinted from the 17th century until today. It is also a widely known example of Polish literary plagiatrism: in 1616 Rozmowa was published by Jędrzej Suski as his own work. For a long time Suski edition was considered to be identical with the anonymous version of Rozmowa published sine anno and sine loco, but in 2008 Anna Sitkowa described the actual plagiatrized version with the dedication letter signed by Suski himself. Moreover, typographical analyses of the anonymous version of Rozmowa indicate that it was in fact printed in 1630s, and thus it is not a first, but a third edition of the work. Determining the correct order of editions has significant consequences regarding textual history and criticism.

The Annunciation from Mądre is an example of iconography of the Incarnation that appeared as eartly as the beginnings of Christian art, and through the ages it was a compilation of many various pictorial motifs. The painting of the Annunciation, kept in Kórnik, dated for 1529, was once the middle part of the altar in the parish church in Mądre. The figure of the founder, Łukasz Górka, shown at Gabriel's feet, confirms the authority of the humanist who ordered the work. The iconography of the painting connects the traditions of the medieval imaging of the Annunciation to Renaissance elements. At the background of the main scene, against the landscape, another event in Mary's cycle takes place – the Visitation to St. Elizabeth. A. Labuda points to the importance of this picture in the development of proto-Renaissance painting in Wielkopolska (Great Poland), with the complex motif of the Incarnation that introduces into the picture the Infant looking in the direction of Mary. A. Labuda has pointed to L. Górka's foundation as the Church's orthodox authority towards Lutheran ideas that had a powerful influence in the Wielkopolska region. The Annunciation is characterized by a clear and cogent iconographic program built around the mystery of the Incarnation as the crucial moment of the Salvation. In the corner of the painting God the Father, the Infant as the Son-Logos carrying the cross on his shoulders, and the dove of the Holy Spirit have been shown. This moment of the Annunciation, joined to the image of the Father, was shown in the icon of Nowogród painted in the 12th century. God was shown as the Everlasting, according to the description in the Book of Daniel 7, 9 from Isaiah's prophecy 6, which also found its pictorial interpretations in Jacop Torriti's mosaics from Santa Maria Maggiore of 1247. In the development of the presentations of Annunciation we are interested in, showing Logos descending from heaven, the art developed in the area on the Rhine was significant, since it was there that the trend of mysticism of the whole of the 15th century emphasizing divinity of Christ was consolidated. The influence of the Renaissance way of thinking can be seen in the painting owing to the sibyls, already defined by Heraclitus, Euripides, Aristophanes, Plato and many other authors whose writings were used as sources by Christian writers. Especially three sibyls were considered to be authoritative oracles: the Phrygian one from Delphi, the Eritrean one and the Hellespont one. A special significance was attributed to the sibyls' prophecies in Rome. According to the legend related by Dionysius of Halicarnassus, Tarquinius the Proud bought books with prophecies from a mysterious woman identified with Sibyl of Cumae, and from the times of Augustus the books were kept in the Jove Temple in the Capitol. Ancient prophecies were joined to the texts of Jewish prophecies, forming in this way collections of sibyls' prophecies contained in twelve books. Christian oracles speak about the coming of Messiah, and some quotations were used by the Fathers of the Church. Clement of Alexandria in his work Stromata mentions four sibyls, Phrygian, Eritrean, Egyptian and Italian, called Carmentis. Initially in Christian art only one sibyl was shown, but in the late Middle Ages and in the Renaissance period more were introduced, together with the attributes that identified them. In early Renaissance art sibyls were often shown in the context of Evangelical events, e.g. on the stalls of the Ulm Cathedral whose author was Jorg Syrlin (1467-1474).

L’exploration des sources constitue une étape fondamentale pour rendre compte des interrogations universitaires. Pour l’histoire de l’Église, l’oeuvre de Luc, les Actes des Apôtres, représente une des sources de base. Approcher cette oeuvre du côté historique est un défi qui a déjà été relevé, mais il reste toujours des zones d’ombres dans la littérature du sujet. Cette contribution a pour but de présenter une approche historique de l’oeuvre de Luc, si importante dans l’écriture de l’histoire de l’Église des origines. Les Actes des Apôtres interroge sur son originalité parmi les livres du Nouveau Testament au point que l’on a suggéré de les appeler la première histoire du christianisme. Pour répondre à la problématique, l’auteur se réfère à l’oeuvre historique d’Eusèbe de Césarée, considérée classiquement comme la première histoire de l’Église. Comparer les deux auteurs qui travaillèrent selon des méthodes historiques semblables et comparer leurs oeuvres constituent les deux étapes pour aborder les Actes des Apôtres. À cette troisième étape nous pouvons découvrir la clé qui donne une logique particulière à la structure littéraire de l’oeuvre de Luc. Cette approche permet d’apprécier davantage les enjeux historiographiques et ecclésiologiques des Actes des Apôtres. Il ne manque pas d’essais de renommer l’oeuvre de Luc dont le titre ne fut pas donné par l’auteur du troisième Évangile.

The author verifies Ramsay and Souter’s suggestion – put forward more than a hundred years ago – that Luke and Titus, Paul’s collaborators, were brothers. They came to this conclusion because there is no mention of Titus in the Acts. To verify the proposition the author conducts a study of Titus’ historical position in Paul’s mission and then of his significance as compared to that of the apostle’s other associates in the Acts. The conclusion may be reached that making no mention of Titus in the Acts is not accidental. The only reason for this that can be justified is the same one that made Luke, the author of the Acts, pass in silence over his own person. On this basis we find that the reason of not mentioning Titus is in the same relation to the work as to its author, that is in the close relation between Paul’s two collaborators. Ramsay and Souter’s specific suggestion that Titus was Luke’s brother does not find confirmation, but it points to the direction in which to look for a solution to the problem, that is to a certain relationship between them.

Jan Zapolski (1619–1689) herbu Pobóg w 1643 r. został opatem cysterskiego opactwa w Lądzie; wcześniej był kanonikiem katedry krakowskiej i sekretarzem króla Władysława IV. W 1661 r. kapituła cysterskiej prowincji wybrała go wikariuszem generalnym i komisarzem Polskiej Prowincji Cystersów, pełnił ten urząd przez 28 lat – do śmierci. W styczniu 1651 r. opat Zapolski podpisał z architektem Tomassem Poncinem kontrakt na remont i rozbudowę gotyckiego klasztornego kościoła w Lądzie. Konflikt z niesumiennym architektem i proces sądowy zatrzymały tę inwestycję. W 1679 r. Zapolski zdecydował się wznieść w Lądzie nowy kościół według planów królewskiego architekta Giuseppe Simone Bellottiego. Do 1687 r. zbudowano prezbiterium i transept nowego kościoła. Sklepienia udekorowały stiuki wykonane przez włoskich sztukatorów według projektu Bellotiego, w prezbiterium ustawiono stalle – dzieło warsztatu brata Bartłomieja Adriana. Prawdopodobnie w 1687 r. powstał portret Jana Zapolskiego, na którym opat trzyma plan nowego kościoła w Lądzie. Autorem portretu jest prawdopodobnie cysterski malarz Łukasz Latkowski. Portret ten stał się wzorem dla innych wizerunków: portretu trumiennego Zapolskiego (1689); jego wizerunku w Sali Opackiej klasztoru (1722); portretu opata Mikołaja A. Łukomskiego (1747).
Jan Zapolski (1619–1689) of the Pobóg coat of arms in 1643 became the abbot of the Cistercian abbey in Ląd; previously he was a canon of the Krakow cathedral and secretary of King Władysław IV. In 1661 the Cistercian chapter of the province elected him vicar general and commissars of the Polish Cistercian Province, he held this office for 28 years – until his death. In January 1651 abbot Zapolski signed a contract with the architect Tomasso Poncino for the renovation and expansion of the Gothic monastery church in Ląd. The conflict with the unscrupulous architect and the lawsuit stopped this investment. In 1679 Zapolski decided to build a new church in Ląd according to the plans of the royal architect Giuseppe Simone Bellotti. Until 1687 the presbytery and the transept of the new church were built. The vaults were decorated with stuccoes made by Italian stucco makers according to the design of Bellotti (figs. 3–4); stalls were placed in the presbytery - the work of the workshop of brother Bartholomew Adrian (fig. 5). Probably in 1687 a portrait of Jan Zapolski was created (fig. 2), on which the abbot holds a card with a plan for a new church in Ląd. The author of the portrait is probably the Cistercian painter Łukasz Latkowski. This portrait became a model for other images: the coffin portrait of Zapolski (1689; fig. 8), his image in the Abbey Hall (Sala Opacka) of the monastery (1722; fig. 9); portrait of abbot Mikołaj A. Łukomski (1747; fig. 10).

Nowsze „teksty dla teatru" Elfriede Jelinek cieszą się w Polsce coraz większym zaintereso-waniem, choć w latach dziewięćdziesiątych i na początku lat dwutysięcznych polski teatr nie był zainteresowany utworami niewpisującymi się w klasyczne pojęcie sceniczności. Wielu badaczy i badaczek podkreśla, że polska praktyka teatralna różniła się znacząco od niemiec-kiej, a jednocześnie wzorce niemieckojęzyczne stopniowo wpływały na polskie życie teatral-ne. Dopiero dzięki nowym przekładom autorstwa „ludzi teatru", wraz ze zmianą pokolenio-wą i dzięki wspierającej polityce dyrektorów teatru sztuki Jelinek zaistniały w polskim kra-jobrazie teatralnym. Chodzi tu o dwie inscenizacje z sezonu 2007/2008: O zwierzętach w reżyserii Łukasza Chotkowskiego w Teatrze Polskim w Bydgoszczy i Chór sportowy wyreżyserowany przez Krzysztofa Garbaczewskiego w Opolu (oba teksty w tłumaczeniu Karoliny Bikont). Niniejszy artykuł opowiada się za systemowym traktowaniem fenomenu transferu, z uwzględnieniem wielu czynników wpływających na ten proces.
Elfriede Jelinek's "texts for the theater" are enjoying more and more interest in Poland, even though in the 90s and in the early 2000s the Polish theater was not interested in plays which went outside the classical idea of stageability. Many researchers stress the fact that the Polish and German theatrical practices are very different, while at the same time they notice how the German-speaking standards have gradually influenced the stage life in Poland. It was not until new translations by people connected to the theater started to appear, backed up by generational change and favorable politics of theater directors, that Elfride Jelinek's plays started to become visible on the Polish theater landscape. Two stage productions from the 2007/2008 season illustrate this trend especially well: About Animals (Über Tiere), directed by Łukasz Chotkowski in Teatr Polski in Bydgoszcz, and A Sport Play (Ein Sportstück), directed by Krzysztof Garbaczewski in Opole (both texts translated by Karolina Bikont). This article calls for a systematic treatment of the theatrical transfer, which allows for the inclusion of many factors that influence the process.
Jelineks neuere und innovativere „Texte für das Theater" werden in Polen immer stärker rezipiert, nachdem das polnische Theater in den Neunzigern und auch noch nach dem Jahr 2000 an solchen (nicht „theatertauglichen") Texten nicht besonders interessiert war. Viele ForscherInnen betonen, dass sich das polnische Theaterleben früher markant von dem deutschen unterschied, das deutsche Vorbild allmählich aber an Bedeu-tung gewinnt und das polnische Theaterleben zunehmend beeinflusst. Erst mit neuen Übersetzungen, die von Theaterleuten vorgelegt wurden, mit dem Generationswechsel und einer unterstützenden Politik der Theaterleiter wurde der Durchbruch möglich, und zwar mit zwei parallelen Aufführungen aus der Spielzeit 2007/2008: Mit Über Tiere in der Regie von Łukasz Chotkowski in Bromberg und Sportchor von Krzysztof Garbaczewski in Oppeln (beide Texte wurden von Karolina Bikont übersetzt). Der Beitrag plädiert für eine systemorientierte Analyse, die mehrere Faktoren des Theatertransfers berücksichtigt.

Research on the beginnings of Christianity using the historical method brings about many difficulties, mainly due to the scarcity of sources. One of the most interesting is the canonical book of the Acts of the Apostles, which is unique among the New Testament books, also with regards to genology and its content. It provides us with a unique image of the beginnings and growth of the Church. The author asks if this is a historical, mythical, theological, or theological-polemical image. In his research, he focuses on only one theme presented in this book: the historical watershed moment of directing the mission of evangelization towards the pagans. First, he situates the pericope in question in the conception of the entire book. Next, he summarizes the history of its exegesis and subjects it to historical criticism, finally finding within it an important chapter of early Christian mythology. While not negating its historical roots, he notes its theological message, which was especially important for the Christian community of the early second century.
Badanie początków chrześcijaństwa metodą historyczną sprawia dużo trudności, głównie z powodu znikomej ilości źródeł. Do jednych z najciekawszych należy kanoniczna księga Dziejów Apostolskich, która w Nowym Testamencie jest unicum tak pod względem genologicznym, jak i treściowym. Dostarcza ona dość szczególnego obrazu powstania i rozwoju Kościoła. Autor artykułu pyta, jaki to obraz – historyczny, mityczny, teologiczny czy teologiczno-polemiczny? W badaniach koncentruje się na jednym tylko wątku ukazanym w tej księdze, to jest na przełomowym dla dziejów misji ewangelizacyjnej skierowaniu jej od pogan. Najpierw sytuuje interesującą go perykopę w koncepcji całej księgi, a następnie przypomina w skrócie historię jej egzegezy oraz poddaje ją krytyce historycznej, by w końcu odkryć w niej ważną kartę mitu wczesnochrześcijańskiego. Nie negując jego historycznego zakorzenienia, wskazuje na teologiczne jej przesłanie niezwykle ważne dla społeczności chrześcijan z początku drugiego wieku.

Przez dziesięciolecia uczeni dyskutowali jednak, czy jego znaczenie ma charakter czysto literacki, czy również teologiczny. Najnowsza monografia kanadyjskiego egzegety, Dominique’a Angers, rzuca nowe światło na tę kwestię. Autor artykułu bada dotychczasowe próby wyjaśnienia obecności „dziś” w dwutomowym dziele, analizując zarówna starsze jak i najnowsze propozycje. Doceniając wyniki badań kanadyjskiego egzegety na dyskusję badanej problematyki zaproponowano kilka drobnych korekt jego rozwiązań.
The importance of the temporal adverb σήμερον within Luke-Acts has long been recognized by commentators and scholars. They have been discussing for decades whether the word's significance is a purely literary one or if it perhaps carries some theological import, and the recent extensive study by Dominique Angers offers some important insights into this issue. The author of the article researches some previous attempts to elucidate this point, as well as some of the newest solutions. While proposing his own minor corrections to the study of the Canadian exegete, the author acknowledges Angers' overwhelmingly positive impact on the scholarly discussion.

The present article discusses works by Łukasz Orbitowski and Paweł Demirski, two authors representing the young generation of Polish writers whose texts stand in the opposition to a worn-out and highly ritualised trend of national-symbolic interpretations of memory. The debunking literary strategy of both authors relies heavily on the aesthetics of subversion. Choosing for Spectres the genre of historical fantasy, Łukasz Orbitowski provides himself with a vast space of artistic freedom, using it for free reinterpretations and continuations of the existing narratives of memory. The theatre of Paweł Demirski and Monika Strzępka, in turn, is a theatre of linguistic performance which clashes sequences of language that transmit historical imagination and national self-awareness of Poles. In Demirski’s play theatre becomes a medium of protest against fossilised forms of memory, where graphically staged painful trauma is deprived of the aura of sacrum. Triviality and vulgarism of language demolish both the elevated phrases of the national culture of memory and the naïve pop-cultural representations of war and the Warsaw Uprising.

The article comprises theological deliberations on the persons referredto by name in 2 Timothy 4:9-15. These persons can be divided into twogroups. The first group consists of those who remained with the ApostlePaul, had a positive attitude towards him, or completed missions appointedby Paul during his imprisonment. They are as follows: Crescens (?), Titus,Luke, Mark, Tychicus and Carpus. The second group comprises his closestcollaborators who, for unknown reasons, abandoned Paul, or became (orhad been from the first meeting) his fierce opponents. Demas and Alexanderbelong to this group.If we assume that the Second Epistle to Timothy was written by Paul,each of those individuals referred to in the analysed passage occupied, tosome extent, the mind of the imprisoned Apostle. If we assume that 2 Timothy is a pseudepigraph, we obtain a list of people who, according to theauthor of the text, had clear influence on the Apostle of the Nations duringhis final stage of life. In the times of the early Church, all name-basedreferences to specific people (who were often well regarded] in Christiancommunities), might have constituted obscure references to current situationsin the respective communities of the followers of Jesus Christ.

Badanie recepcji sztuki Albrechta Dürera jest kolejnym sposobem zgłębiania fenomenu twórczości artysty, który już za życia osiągnął wyjątkowy status. Co istotne, analiza artystycznych refleksów jego dzieł ujawnia niekiedy nowe aspekty ich samych. Do takich wniosków można dojść badając XVI-wieczne echa miedziorytu Albrechta Dürera przedstawiającego św. Jerzego (B.53). Campbell Dodgson rozpoznając w znaku umieszczonym na chorągwi tego świętego insygnium Zakonu Rycerzy św. Jerzego ujawnił szczególny kontekst historyczno-polityczny tej ryciny. W świetle jego spostrzeżenia praca ta okazała się nie ahistorycznym przedstawieniem legendarnego pogromcy smoka, ale odwołaniem do ówczesnego, specjalnego wymiaru kultu patrona chrześcijańskiego rycerstwa. Historyczna ranga św. Jerzego jako patrona krzyżowców i obrońców wiary sprawiła, że w XV wieku do jego osoby nawiązywano wobec narastającego konfliktu z imperium otomańskim. Tak uczynił cesarz Fryderyk III Habsburg zakładając w 1467 roku Zakon Rycerzy św. Jerzego. Św. Jerzy stał się również szczególnym patronem jego syna, Maksymiliana I, który uczynił z osoby św. Jerzego ważny instrument propagandy politycznej i artystycznej. Można postawić pytanie, czy Albrecht Dürer nie zademonstrował w swej rycinie znakomitego wyczucia atrakcyjności i aktualności tematu, tworząc wizerunek współczesnego św. Jerzego, który mógł być interpretowany jako germański miles christianus. Również ukazanie św. Jerzego jako niemłodego, brodatego rycerza mogło stanowić przejaw świadomej archaizacji (uzasadnionej w kontekście tematu ryciny), jak i skłaniać – poprzez „realizm” tego wizerunku – do dostrzegania w nim potencjału portretowej stylizacji. Recepcja Dürerowskiego miedziorytu pokazuje, że ten jego „realistyczny” potencjał był traktowany jako swoiste zaproszenie do formuł portretowych i quasi-portretowych, Wykorzystał to np. Lucas Cranach Starszy, doskonale znający oeuvre Norymberczyka i chętnie odnoszący się do jego prac w twórczy sposób. Ciekawym przykładem recepcji Dürerowskiego Św. Jerzego, która nie sprowadza się jedynie do automatycznego powtórzenia kompozycji lub zestawiania jej fragmentów, jest znajdujący się w kościele kolegiackim w Środzie Wielkopolskiej nagrobek Ambrożego Pampowskiego, starosty generalnego wielkopolskiego i pruskiego, sprawnego dyplomaty i administratora za panowania kolejnych Jagiellonów na przełomie XV i XVI wieku. Z testamentu Pampowskiego wiadomo, że nagrobek ten został wystawiony jeszcze za jego życia, a zleceniodawca wykazał się dużą dbałością o formę swej komemoracji. Uwagę badaczy zwracał dotąd sposób przedstawienia postaci i jego graficzny pierwowzór, nie zastanawiano się natomiast, czy między formą komemoracji a życiorysem Pampowskiego zachodzą głębsze związki. Tymczasem kilka faktów z biografii Pampowskiego pozwala wysunąć przypuszczenie, że wzorowanie własnego nagrobka na wizerunku św. Jerzego mogło być zabiegiem celowym, mówiącym o świadomości politycznej wielkopolskiego dostojnika. Nie można wykluczyć, że Pampowski był również świadomy rangi autora graficznego pierwowzoru. Doświadczenia zdobyte podczas studiów na Akademii Krakowskiej i w trakcie pobytu w kancelarii koronnej i na dworze królewskim wywarły znaczący wpływ na horyzonty intelektualne Pampowskiego i jego zainteresowania związane z kulturą artystyczną. W efekcie jego działania na tym polu wykraczały poza zwyczajową dbałość o prestiż rodu i własnej osoby. Na tle ówczesnej recepcji grafiki Dürera w Królestwie Polskim nagrobek Pampowskiego wyróżnia się tym, że jest stosunkowo rzadkim przykładem dzieła, którego graficzny wzór został świadomie wybrany przez fundatora.
Research into the reception of Albrecht Dürer’s art is one more means of investigating the phenomenon of the artist who already in his lifetime enjoyed extraordinary reputation. Interestingly, the analysis of the artistic reflections of his works occasionally uncovers new aspects of the very works. Such are the conclusions that can be reached when the echoes of the 16th century copperplate by Albrecht Dürer showing St George (B. 53) are investigated. Identifying the sign placed on the Saint’s standard as the emblem of the Chivalric Order of the  Knights of St George, Campbell Dodgson revealed the peculiar historical and political context of the print. In the light of this observation, the discussed work did not prove to be an ahistorical presentation of the legendary vanquisher of the dragon, but a reference to the contemporary dimension of the cult of the patron of Christian knighthood. The historic importance of St George as the patron of crusaders and defenders of the faith caused that in the 15th century it was to him that in view of the intensifying conflict with the Ottoman Empire appeals were made. That is exactly what Emperor Frederick III Habsburg did when establishing in 1467 the Order of the Knights of St George. Furthermore, St George became a special patron for his son Maximilian I who made the figure of St George an important instrument of political and artistic propaganda.   The question can be asked whether Albrecht Dürer did not demonstrate in his print the exquisite sense of attractiveness and topicality of the theme, creating the effigy of contemporary St George who could be interpreted as a Germanic miles christianus. Moreover, showing St George as an advanced in years and bearded knight could demonstrate a conscious archaization (justified in view of the print’s theme), as well as persuade, through the ‘realism’ of the effigy, to perceive in it the potential of portrayed stylization. The reception of Dürer’s copperplate shows that this ‘realistic’ potential was treated as a kind of an encouragement to portraying and quasi-portraying formulas. This was taken advantage of by e.g. Lucas Cranach the Elder, perfectly familiar with Dürer’s oeuvre, and willingly referring to his works in a creative manner.  An interesting instance of the reception of Dürer’s St George which is not limited only to the automatic repetition of the composition or putting together its fragments can be found in the tomb of Ambroży Pampowski, General Greater Poland and Prussia Starost, an agile diplomat and administrator under subsequent Jagiellons at the turn of the 16th century, the tomb located in the Collegiate Church in Środa Wielkopolska. It can be read from Pampowski’s last will that the tomb had been put in place still during his lifetime, and he was really meticulous with the form of his commemoration. Until now researchers have focused on the manner of rendering the figure versus its print model; however, no questions have been asked whether there was any closer relation between the commemoration form and Pampowski’s life story. Meanwhile, several facts from his biography allow to assume that modelling his own tomb on the effigy of St George could have been a purposeful measure testifying to the political awareness of the Greater Poland dignitary. It cannot be eliminated, either, that Pampowski was also aware of the prestige of the print model’s author. The experience he gained while studying at the Cracow Academy and while working for the Crown Chancellery and at court may have all broadened Pampowski’s cultural horizons and his interests in artistic culture. As a consequence, his activity in the field went beyond a customary care for the prestige of his family and his own person. As seen against the then reception of Dürer’s print in the Kingdom of Poland, Pampowski’s tomb stands out with the fact that it is a rare example of a work whose print model was consciously picked by the founder.

Artykuł prezentuje analizę wyrażenia „mówić [innymi] językami” (λαλεῖν [ἑτέραις] γλώσσαις) z Dziejów Apostolskich (2,4.11; 10,46; 19,6). Autor kładzie nacisk na interpretację tekstu Dz 2,4, który w tradycji egzegezy biblijnej, ze względu na występujący w tekście przymiotnik ἑτέραις, traktowany jest tożsamo z tekstem z Dz 2,6.8.11. Zdaniem autora λαλεῖν ἑτέραις γλώσσαις w Dz 2,4 należy rozumieć w znaczeniu „mówić innymi językami, które nie są zrozumiałe ani dla mówiącego, ani dla słuchającego oraz których mówiący wcześniej się nie uczył” (glosolalia), a nie w znaczeniu mówienia w języku obcym, zrozumiałym dla słuchaczy, ale niezrozumiałym dla mówiącego, bez wcześniejszego uczenia się go (ksenoglosja). Przemawia za tym szczególnie brak rodzajnika określonego przy rzeczowniku γλώσσαις oraz brak podstawowej funkcji języka, jaką jest komunikacja pomiędzy mówiącym a słyszącym. Zdaniem autora artykułu zstąpienie Ducha Świętego opisane w Dz 10,44–48 oraz 19,2–7 jest tożsame z doświadczeniem Zielonych Świąt 120 osób zgromadzonych w Wieczerniku (Dz 2,1–4). Te trzy opisy Łukasza wskazują na fenomenem glosolalii. Z ksenoglosją mamy do czynienia tylko w tekstach Dz 2,6.8.11.
The article analyses the expression “to speak in [other] tongues” (λαλεῖν [ἑτέραις] γλώσσαις) as used in the Acts of the Apostles 2:4, 11; 10:46; 19:6. The author places special emphasis on the interpretation of the text from Acts 2:4, which, traditional biblical exegesis treats on a par with the text from Acts 2:6, 8, 11 because of the adjective ἑτέραις. In the author’s opinion, λαλεῖν ἑτέραις γλώσσαις from Acts 2:4 is to be understood as “speaking in languages that are different from the speaker’s own language and not understood by either the speaker or the listener without prior learning” (glossolalia) rather than in the meaning of speaking in a foreign language understood by the listeners but not understood by the speaker without prior learning (xenoglossy). This inference is derived from the lack of the definite article in Acts 2:4 before the word γλώσσαις and the lack of the basic language function, which is the communication between the speaker and the listener. The author believes that the descent of the Holy Spirit described in Acts 10:44–48 and 19:2–7 is identical with the experience of 120 people gathered in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1–4). These three Lucan passages describe the phenomenon of glossolalia; only Acts 2:6, 8, 11 is an account of xenoglossy.

Artykuł przynosi zestawienie najstarszych chronologicznie dokumentów ZWZ--AK sygnowanych przez por. Łukasza Cieplińskiego. Wszystkie znajdują się w zbiorach Archiwum Państwowego w Rzeszowie. Do publikacji wybrano jedenaście różnych, oryginalnych tekstów z lat 1941–1942, związanych ze strukturami ZWZ-AK w Obwodzie oraz Inspektoracie Rzeszów. W zestawieniu znalazły się rozkazy wykonawcze, rozkazy okolicznościowe, instrukcje i wytyczne do pracy podziemnej, w tym wywiadowczej, przygotowane i podpisane przez komendanta Obwodu, a potem rzeszowskiego inspektora, por. Łukasza Cieplińskiego. Każdy z tych dokumentów ma fundamentalne znaczenie dla odtwarzania dziejów podziemia wojskowego na Rzeszowszczyźnie w początkowym okresie funkcjonowania Polskiego Państwa Podziemnego. Wszystkie pokazują zakres tajnych prac organizacyjnych, zasięg działania, metody pracy konspiracyjnej, oddają atmosferę okupacyjną i związane z nią zagrożenia. Przynoszą wartościowe szczegóły, bez których nie sposób pisać o armii podziemnej w Rzeszowie, ale również o ludziach, którzy ją tworzyli.
The article juxtaposes the oldest documents of the Union of Armed Struggle, later called Home Army, signed by the Lieutenant Łukasz Ciepliński. All of these documents can be found in the collection of the State Archives in Rzeszow. This publication adds eleven different original texts from the years 1941-1942 connected to the structure of the Union and Home Army in the Rzeszow District and in Inspectorate Rzeszow. These documents include executive orders, congratulatory orders, instructions and guidelines for undercover work, such as intelligence gathering, prepared and signed by Lt Łukasz Ciepliński. by Lt Łukasz Ciepliński. Each of these documents is fundamental in recreation of the underground military activities in Rzeszow region at the beginning stages of the Polish Underground State. All the documents show the scope of the secret organizatio nal work, its range of influence and the methods used in conspiratorial work. These documents also reflect the occupational atmosphere and the dangers lying therein. They mention important details without which it is impossible to write about the underground army in Rzeszow, but also about the people who were part of it.

Na Rynku w Ostrowcu Świętokrzyskim została zaprezentowana wystawa plenerowa poświęcona grypsom więziennym Cieplińskiego, pisanych w ostatnich miesiącach życia. Autorami wystawy są członkowie Stowarzyszenia Ostrowieccy Patrioci.
