As a crucial core physics parameter, the control rod reactivity has to be predicted for the control and safety of the reactor. This paper studies the control rod reactivity calculation of the pebble-bed reactor with three scenarios of UO2, (Th,U)O2, and PuO2 fuel type without any modifi cations in the confi guration of the reactor core. The reactor geometry of HTR-10 was selected for the reactor model. The entire calculation of control rod reactivity was done using the MCNP6 code with ENDF/B-VII library. The calculation results show that the total reactivity worth of control rods in UO2-, (U,Th)O2-, and PuO2-fueled cores is 15.87, 15.25, and 14.33%k/k, respectively. These results prove that the effectiveness of total control rod in thorium and uranium cores is almost similar to but higher than that in plutonium cores. The highest reactivity worth of individual control rod in uranium, thorium and plutonium cores is 1.64, 1.44, and 1.53%k/k corresponding to CR8, CR1, and CR5, respectively. The other results demonstrate that the reactor can be safely shutdown with the control rods combination of CR3+CR5+CR8+CR10, CR2+CR3+CR7+CR8, and CR1+CR3+CR6+CR8 in UO2-, (U,Th)O2-, and PuO2-fueled cores, respectively. It can be concluded that, even though the calculation results are not so much different, however, the selection of control rods should be considered in the pebble-bed core design with different scenarios of fuel type.

A numerical study using the ANSYS 19.R3 environment is discussed in this research. This environment depends on the Virtual Crack Closure Technique (VCCT) method to test a double cantilever beam (DCB) according to the ASTM D5528 standard. Four kinds of laminate stacking sequences were considered. According to the results, the distribution of the strain energy release rates obtained along the delamination front in bending-extension and extension-twisting coupling had a good affinity with bending-extension coupling. At the same time, critical fracture toughness values were estimated to be around 87.9% of critical fracture toughness values bending-extension coupling. These results are proof of the bending-extension and extensiontwisting coupling success while testing the proximity to bending-extension coupling results of the DCB beam. These findings are compatible with the standard ASTM D5288. Therefore, the bending-extension and extension-twisting coupling provide a good indication of the delamination resistance during buckling tests of the composite.

The amount of data processed and stored in the cloud is growing dramatically. The traditional storage devices at both hardware and software levels cannot meet the requirement of the cloud. This fact motivates the need for a platform which can handle this problem. Hadoop is a deployed platform proposed to overcome this big data problem which often uses MapReduce architecture to process vast amounts of data of the cloud system. Hadoop has no strategy to assure the safety and confidentiality of the files saved inside the Hadoop distributed File system (HDFS). In the cloud, the protection of sensitive data is a critical issue in which data encryption schemes plays avital rule. This research proposes a hybrid system between two well-known asymmetric key cryptosystems (RSA, and Paillier) to encrypt the files stored in HDFS. Thus before saving data in HDFS, the proposed cryptosystem is utilized for encrypting the data. Each user of the cloud might upload files in two ways, non-safe or secure. The hybrid system shows higher computational complexity and less latency in comparison to the RSA cryptosystem alone.

Mechanically, composite laminates perform exceptionally well in-plane but poorly out-of-plane. Interlaminar damage, known as "delamination," is a major issue for composite laminates. Results from Mode-I and Mode-II experimental testing on twill-woven carbon fiber reinforced (CFRP) laminates are analyzed in this paper. Composite Mode-I fracture toughness was determined using three different methods in accordance with ASTM D5528: modified beam theory, compliance calibration, and a codified compliance calibration. Two methods, the Compliance Calibration Method and the Compliance-Based Beam Method, were used to determine the Mode-II fracture toughness in accordance with ASTM D7905. Stick-slip behavior is quite evident in the composite's ModeI fracture toughness test findings. The MBT technique's Ic values for initiation and propagation are 0.533 and 0.679 KJ/m2 , respectively. When comparing the MBT approach to the industry-standard ASTM procedure for determining fracture toughness Mode-I, the MBT method was shown to be highly compatible. Furthermore, the IIc values for the CBBM technique are 1.65 KJ/m2 for non-pre cracked and 1.4 KJ/m2 for pre-cracked materials. The CBBM method shows a good method to evaluate fracture toughness Mode-II, due to not needing to monitor the length of the crack during delamination growth to get the value of the fracture toughness.

Neospora caninum is an important cause of abortion in dairy cattle. The general health of affected cows has not been investigated before. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to identify possible relationships between certain metabolic diseases and selected serum biochemical parameters in seropositive dairy cows against N. caninum antibodies in different stages of lactation. The study was carried out using 72 N. caninum seropositive cows and 61 seronegative dairy cows (control). Serum from all cows was tested to determine their N. caninum status (seropositive vs seronegative) using commercially available indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test kit (iELISA). In addition, serum biochemical parameters including beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), glucose, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, total protein, albumin, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) were determined using routine laboratory methods. The stage of lactation was obtained at the time of sampling from farm records. Student independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference in the serum concentrations of BHB, AST, ALT, and LDH between seropositive and seronegative cows. There was no significant association between seropositivity and the stage of lactation. However, multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that there was a strong association between seropositivity and BHB concentrations. Results of this study indicate a possible relationship between N. caninum seropositivity and certain metabolic diseases such as ketosis and fatty liver syndrome in dairy cows.

In this paper, the effect of ultrasonic peening surface treatment on the mechanical properties of TIG butt weld joints of low-carbon steel (AISI 1020) was studied. A single V-angle (45°) was made on sheets of metal used then welded at constant parameters, namely: current, voltage. Wire filler ER70S-3 with argon was used to obtain many butt welding joints. Some of them were subjected to ultrasonic peening at one, two and three passes. The micro-hardness, microstructure, tensile and bending were tested. The results show increases in the tensile strength after the welding process. The test results showed improvements in the tensile strength of the weldments in comparison to the base metal. On the other hand, the tensile strength decreased with the ultrasonic process. Nevertheless, the tensile strength increased at a high number of ultrasonic passes. On the contrary, the ultrasonic process enhanced the bending strength compared to the base metal, whereas the weldments ability to bend deteriorated.

The profile of microbial diversity in a NABR digesting RPMW was investigated using phylogenetic analysis of partial 16S rRNA sequences by a neighbor-joining-tree, supported by microbial morphology analysis by SEM. The results showed that microorganism inside NABR consisted of dominant Bacillus (25 strains) and Bacterium (1 strain) which were isolated from the settled sludge at the bottom of the reactor, whilst Bacillus (2 strains), Pseudomonas (2 strain) and Chryseobacterium (2 strain) were isolated from the biofilm formed on the packing material. It revealed that the microbial community strains, function, and structure changed simultaneously throughout the reactor system. The microscopic results showed rich biofacies, while the dominant microorganisms have various morphologies in every compartment of the system. It consisted of a long rod-shaped and filamentous bacterium composed majorly of bacilli of different sizes. Although the study successfully analyzed the microbial diversity and morphology in the system, the microbial communities reported in this study were different from other similar studies. This may be caused by the application of a culture-based technique that usually provides limited information due to the number of barely cultivated or uncultured strains.
