Opis:
To investigate the adsorptive properties of a local laterite deposited in Chenzhou, Hunan province, China, the adsorptive properties of the natural laterite were investigated by batch technique in this study. The effects of contact time, pH, ionic strength, temperature, and the concentration on adsorption properties were also analyzed. The obtained experimental results show that the main mineral composition of laterite is kaolinite and montmorillonite. The adsorption process achieved equilibrium within 60 minutes and 90 minutes for Sr(II) and Cr(VI), respectively. The adsorption capacities for Cr(VI) and Sr(II) by the laterite were about 7.25 mg·g-1 and 8.35 mg·g-1 under the given experimental conditions, respectively. The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to the second-order kinetic equation. The adsorption capacity for Sr(II) onto the laterite increased with increasing pH from 3–11 but decreased with increasing ionic strength from 0.001 to 1.0 M NaCl. The Sr(II) adsorption reaction on laterite was endothermic and the process of adsorption was favored at high temperature. Similarly, the adsorption capacity for Cr(VI) onto the laterite increased with increasing pH from 3–11, however, the ionic strength and temperature had an insignificant effect on Cr(VI) adsorption. The adsorption of Cr(VI) and Sr(II) was dominated by ion exchange and surface complexation in this work. Furthermore, the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm model was used for the description of the adsorption process. The results suggest that the studied laterite samples can be effectively used for the treatment of contaminated wastewaters.

Opis:
Effective recognition of tags in the dynamic measurement system would significantly improve the reading performance of the tag group, but the blurred outline and appearance of tag images captured in motion seriously limit the effectiveness of the existing tag group recognition. Thus, this paper proposes passive tag group recognition in the dynamic environment based on motion blur estimation and improved YOLOv2. Firstly, blur angles are estimated with a Gabor filter, and blur lengths are estimated through nonlinear modelling of a Generalized Regression Neural Network (GRNN). Secondly, tag recognition based on YOLOv2 improved by a Gaussian algorithm is proposed. The features of the tag group are analyzed by the Gaussian algorithm, the region of interest of the dynamic tag is effectively framed, and the tag foreground is extracted; Secondly, the data set of tag groups are trained by the end-to-end YOLOv2 algorithm for secondary screening and recognition, and finally the specific locations of tags are framed to meet the effective identification of tag groups in different scenes. A considerable number of experiments illustrate that the fusion algorithm can significantly improve recognition accuracy. Combined with the reading distance, the research presented in this paper can more accurately optimize the three-dimensional structure of the tag group, improve the reading performance of the tag group, and avoid the interference and collision of tags in the communication channel. Compared with the previous template matching algorithm, the tag group recognition ability put forward in this paper is improved by at least 13.9%, and its reading performance is improved by at least 6.2% as shown in many experiments.

Opis:
Text-based CAPTCHA is a convenient and effective safety mechanism that has been widely deployed across websites. The efficient end-to-end models of scene text recognition consisting of CNN and attention-based RNN show limited performance in solving text-based CAPTCHAs. In contrast with the street view image and document, the character sequence in CAPTCHA is non-semantic. The RNN loses its ability to learn the semantic context and only implicitly encodes the relative position of extracted features. Meanwhile, the security features, which prevent characters from segmentation and recognition, extensively increase the complexity of CAPTCHAs. The performance of this model is sensitive to different CAPTCHA schemes. In this paper, we analyze the properties of the text-based CAPTCHA and accordingly consider solving it as a highly position-relative character sequence recognition task. We propose a network named PosConv to leverage the position information in the character sequence without RNN. PosConv uses a novel padding strategy and modified convolution, explicitly encoding the relative position into the local features of characters. This mechanism of PosConv makes the extracted features from CAPTCHAs more informative and robust. We validate PosConv on six text-based CAPTCHA schemes, and it achieves state-of-the-art or competitive recognition accuracy with significantly fewer parameters and faster convergence speed.

Opis:
This scoping review explores the causal relationship between morphological instruction and reading development in young L2 learners by synthesizing 12 primary studies published between 2004 and 2019 (N = 1,535). These studies focused on reading English as the target language and involved participants between kindergarten and Grade 12 from four countries (China, Egypt, Singapore, and the USA). Findings suggested that (a) morphological instruction led to consistent and positive gains in L2 children’s morphological awareness and vocabulary knowledge, and the effect sizes (Cohen’s ds) ranged from small to large; and (b) the relationship between morphological instruction and other outcomes such as phonological awareness, word reading accuracy, word reading fluency, spelling, and reading comprehension was inconclusive. Notably, transfer effects of L2 English morphological instruction on novel word learning in English or on reading development in an additional language were only examined and observed in four primary studies. Discussion was provided regarding future instructional and research design.

Opis:
Stochastic uncertainty theory is used to develop a new Bingham model of magnetorheological dampers superior to the existing model. Some input variables are defined as stochastic variables by the stochastic factor method, and the stochastic Bingham model is developed by the algebraic synthesis method. Curves of the damping force obtained by the stochastic Bingham model and the Bingham model in the literature are compared with experimental results, revealing that the curves obtained by the stochastic Bingham model are much closer to the experimental curves. Therefore, we confirm that the stochastic Bingham model is superior to the model from the literature.

Opis:
Numerous evidences suggested that the hepatitis B virus (HBV) was recognized as an important factor in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) recently was reported to be involved in the progress of HCC. HBV may regulate DKK1 expression in hematoma carcinogenesis. Here, we demonstrated that HBV could regulate DKK1 promoter activity which resulted in upregulation of its mRNA and protein expression in several HBV existing cell lines, and HBx played a prominent role in this process. Transcription factor binding site search result showed that there is a SP1 site in DKK1 promoter region. Luciferase assay showed that overexpression of SP1 could increase DKK1 promoter activity in a dose dependent manner. Accordingly, siRNA inhibition of SP1 expression reduced DKK1 promoter activity and decreased the expression of DKK1 protein.

Opis:
The individual identification of communication emitters is a process of identifying different emitters based on the radio frequency fingerprint features extracted from the received signals. Due to the inherent non-linearity of the emitter power amplifier, the fingerprints provide distinguishing features for emitter identification. In this study, approximate entropy is introduced into variational mode decomposition, whose features performed in each mode which is decomposed from the reconstructed signal are extracted while the local minimum removal method is used to filter out the noise mode to improve SNR. We proposed a semi-supervised dimensionality reduction method named exponential semi-supervised discriminant analysis in order to reduce the high-dimensional feature vectors of the signals, and LightGBM is applied to build a classifier for communication emitter identification. The experimental results show that the method performs better than the state-of-the-art individual communication emitter identification technology for the steady signal data set of radio stations with the same plant, batch and model.

Opis:
This study mainly focused on the current situation of antibiotic pollution in coastal wetlands by screening for four common antibiotics (norfloxacin – NOR, ofloxacin – OFL, azithromycin – AZM, and roxithromycin – RXM) and two coastal wetland plants (Suaeda and Nelumbo nucifera), to determine the removal of antibiotic pollution by phytoremediation technology and its mechanism. We aimed to provide ideas for the remediation of antibiotics in coastal wetlands and their mechanisms of action in the context of intensive farming. The results showed that both plants had remediation effects on all four antibiotics, the phytoremediation of NOR and OFL was particularly significant, and the remediation effect of N. nucifera was better than that of Suaeda . The removal rates of the four antibiotics by Suaeda and N. nucifera at low antibiotic concentrations (10–25 μg/L) reached 48.9–100% and 77.3–100%, respectively. The removal rates of the four antibiotics at high antibiotic concentrations (50–200 μg/L) reached 7.5–73.2% and 22–84.6%, respectively. Moreover, AZM was only detected in trace amounts in the roots of N. nucifera, and RXM was not detected in either plant body.

Opis:
Adenylation domain (A domain) is a model of non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPs), responsible for binding and activating the substrates-amino acids. In this study, a pGEX-2T-sare0718 recombinant plasmid (the gene sare0718 was cloned from Salinispora arenicola CNS-205, S.arenicola CNS-205) was transformed and expressed as a protein GST-Sare0718. Fluorescence quenching (FQ) was conducted to investigate the binding of 20 common amino acids to GST-Sare0718, then isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) also be used[changed]. The results of FQ revealed that intrinsic fluorescence of GST-Sare0718 is quenched steadily by addition of aspartic acid (Asp) and glutamine (Gln) through static quenching mechanism. The binding constants Ka are Asp (1.504×106 L/mol) ≥ Gln (1.468×105 L/mol). And there is one binding site on the protein GST-Sare0718. We confirmed Asp preference of GST-Sare0718 by ITC. Therefore, Asp is the specific substrate. In addition, the experimental data indicates that the prediction system, “the specificity-conferring code”, is not suitable for marine actinomycetes. So it is urgent to set up a special predictive system for marine actinomycetes.
