Opis:
This article investigates the solution of exponentially graded (EG) thick rectangular plates resting on two-parameter elastic foundations according to a trigonometric plate theory (TPT). This theory includes the effect of both shear and normal strains thickness without needing to any shear correction factor. The displacement fields contains initial terms of a power series across plate thickness as well as additional trigonometric terms. The material properties of plate is graded such that Lamé’s coefficients convert exponentially in a given constant orientation.Equilibrium equations according to the EG plate resting on Pasternak’s foundations are derived. The solution is obtained by using Navier’s technique. Numerical results for the EG thick plate on elastic foundations are presented, and compared with those available in the literature. The influences of Winkler’s and Pasternak’s parameters, side-to-thickness ratio, inhomogeneity parameter and aspect ratio on the bending responses of EG plates are investigated.

Opis:
This article employs the classical Euler–Bernoulli beam theory in connection with Green–Naghdi’s generalized thermoelasticity theory without energy dissipation to investigate the vibrating microbeam. The microbeam is considered with linearly varying thickness and subjected to various boundary conditions. The heat and motion equations are obtained using the modified couple stress analysis in terms of deflection with only one material length-scale parameter to capture the size-dependent behavior. Various combinations of free, simply-supported, and clamped boundary conditions are presented. The effect of length-to-thickness ratio, as well as the influence of both couple stress parameter and thermoelastic coupling, are all discussed. Furthermore, the effect of reference temperature on the eigenfrequency is also investigated. The vibration frequencies indicate that the tapered microbeam modeled by modified couple stress analysis causes more responses than that modeled by classical continuum beam theory, even the thermoelastic coupled is taken into account.

Opis:
The generalized thermoelastic problem of a thermo-mechanically loaded beam is studied. The upper surface of the beam is thermally isolated and subjected to a mechanical load while the bottom surface is traction free and subjected to a heating source. Based on the heat conduction equation containing the thermoelastic coupling term and the two-dimensional elasticity theory, thermoelastic coupling differential equations of motion are established. The generalized thermoelasticity theory with the dual-phase-laggings (DPLs) model is used to solve this problem. A closed-form analytical technique is used to calculate vibration of displacements and temperature. The effects of the phase-laggings (PLs), the intensity of the applied load and heat parameters on the field quantities of the beam are discussed. The variation along the axial direction and through-the-thickness distributions of all fields are investigated. Some comparisons have been also shown graphically to estimate the effects of the time on all the studied fields.

Opis:
This article presents the thermo-diffusion of an isotropic thick circular plate. The Green and Naghdi’s models including the energy dissipation are anticipated in their simple forms. Novel multi single/dual-phase-lag models with higher-order timederivatives are also provided to examine the thermo-diffusion response of the circular plate. The simple and refined forms of Green and Naghdi’s types II and III are investigated in this work. The closed-form solution of thermal diffusion governing equations is attained by taking into account the boundary conditions. A validation examples of outcomes are acceptable by comparing all quantities according to the discussing of all thermoelastic models. The refined forms of Green and Naghdi’s types II and III should be applied to get accurate outcomes.

Opis:
This work investigates the vibrational response of thermoelastic nanobeam resonators induced by ramp-type heating and subjected to exponential decaying time varying load via Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Governing equations are derived in the context of nonlocal generalized thermoelasticity theory with dual phase lags. The nonlocal nanobeam theory incorporates a nonlocal parameter to capture the small scale effect. Using the Laplace transform technique, an analytical solution has been attained. and inversions of the transformed solutions have been carried out by means of calculus of residues. The effects of nonlocal, point load and ramping-time parameters on all studied fields of the nanobeam are investigated and discussed.

Opis:
The linear theory of viscoelasticity remains an important field of research like most solids and polymer materials when exposed to a vicious dynamic loading effect. This article introduces a new model for describing the behavior of thermoviscoelastic microbeams considering the effects of temperature change and the longitudinal magnetic field. The governing equations in this model are derived based on the Euler–Bernoulli beam theory, Kelvin–Voigt model of viscosity, the generalized thermoelasticity, and the classical Maxwell equations. The two ends of the microbeam are clamped and subjected to the influence of a laser pulse with a temporal intensity profile. The analytical solutions to the physical fields are evaluated using the Laplace transform and its inversion transforms are performed numerically. The thermo-viscoelastic responses of the microbeam are calculated numerically and investigated graphically. The effect of different parameters such as viscosity, laser intensity, and the magnitude of the magnetic field are studied in detail.

In this study, the problem of an axially moving microbeam subjected to sinusoidal pulse heating and an external transverse excitation is solved. An analytical technique based on the Laplace transform is used to calculate the vibration of deflection and the temperature. The inverse of Laplace transforms are computed numerically using Fourier expansion techniques. The effects of the pulse-width of thermal vibration, moving speed and the transverse excitation are studied and discussed on the lateral vibration, temperature, displacement and bending moment of the beam.

The article presents a two-temperature theory to study the thermally insulated stress-free surface of a thermoelastic solid half-space due to an inclined load. The inclined load is a linear combination of a normal load and a tangential load. The normal mode analysis has been employed to solve the present problem. Variations of conductive and thermodynamic temperatures, displacements, and stresses distributions with the horizontal distance have been presented graphically. Some comparisons have been made to estimate the effects due to the two-temperature parameter and the inclination angle on the field quantities. Results of earlier works have been deduced from the present investigation as special cases.

Opis:
This article presents semi-analytical solutions for stress distributions in exponentially and functionally graded rotating annular disks with arbitrary thickness variations. The disk is under pressure on its boundary surfaces and exposed to temperature distribution varying linearly across thickness. Material properties are supposed to be graded in the radial direction of the disk and obeying to two different forms of distribution of volume fraction of constituents. Different conditions at boundaries for stresses and displacement are discussed. Accurate and efficient solutions for displacement and stresses in rotating annular disks are determined using infinitesimal theory. Numerical results are carried out and discussed for different cases. It can be deduced that the gradient of material properties and thickness variation as well as the change of temperature sources have a specific effect in modern applications.

Opis:
In the present article, we introduced a new model of the equations of generalized thermoelasticity for unbounded orthotropic body containing a cylindrical cavity. We applied this model in the context of generalized thermoelasticity with phase-lags under the effect of rotation. In this case, the thermal conductivity of the material is considered to be variable. In addition, the cylinder surface is traction free and subjected to a uniform unit step temperature. Using the Laplace transform technique, the distributions of the temperature, displacement, radial stress and hoop stress are determined. A detailed analysis of the effects of rotation, phase-lags and the variability thermal conductivity parameters on the studied fields is discussed. Numerical results for the studied fields are illustrated graphically in the presence and absence of rotation.

Opis:
Analytical and numerical nonlinear solutions for rotating variable-thickness functionally graded solid and annular disks with viscoelastic orthotropic material properties are presented by using the method of successive approximations.Variable material properties such as Young’s moduli, density and thickness of the disk, are first introduced to obtain the governing equation. As a second step, the method of successive approximations is proposed to get the nonlinear solution of the problem. In the third step, the method of effective moduli is deduced to reduce the problem to the corresponding one of a homogeneous but anisotropic material. The results of viscoelastic stresses and radial displacement are obtained for annular and solid disks of different profiles and graphically illustrated. The calculated results are compared and the effects due to many parameters are discussed.
