Opis:
This study was planned to examine the use of LandSat ETM+ images to develop a model for monitoring spatial variability of soil cation exchange capacity in a semi-arid area of Neyshaboor. 300 field data were collected from specific GPS registered points, 277 of which were error free, to be analysed in the soil laboratory. The statistical analysis showed that therewas a small R-Squared value, 0.17, when we used the whole data set. Visual interpretation of the graphs showed a trend among some of the data in the data set. Forty points were filtered based on the trends, and the statistical analysis was repeated for those data. It was discovered that the 40 series were more or less in the same environmental conditions; most of them were located in disturbed soils or abandoned lands with sparse vegetation cover. The soil was classified into high and medium salinity, with variable carbon (1.0 to 1.6%), heavy textured and with high silt and clay. Finally it was concluded that two different models could be fitted in the data based on their spatial dependency. The current models are able to explain spatial variability in almost 45 to 65% of the cases.

Opis:
In this paper, a novel fuzzy-integral-sliding controller (FISC) is designed for coupled nonlinear two-input two-output (TITO) systems. Decomposing the original system into two subsystems, the coupling effects are modelled as uncertainties. In order to ensure the robustness properties with respect to system uncertainties and external disturbances, the sliding mode technique with a proportional integral (PI) sliding surface is adopted. On the other hand, to avoid the chattering phenomenon, the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy rules are incorporated into the control algorithm, which forms a fuzzy sliding controller. The stability analysis is also presented based on the Lyapunov stability theorem. The proposed FISC is then applied to control the elevation and azimuth angles of Humusoft CE150, as a two degree of freedom (DOF) laboratory helicopter model with highly cross-coupled dynamics. The simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed control scheme.

Opis:
A new formulation of vibrations of the axially loaded Euler-Bernoulli beam with quintic nonlinearity is investigated in the present study. The beam nonlinear natural frequency as a function of the initial amplitude is obtained. In this direction, modern powerful analytical methods namely He’s Max-Min Approach (MMA) and Amplitude-Frequency Formulation (AFF) are employed to approximate the frequency-amplitude relationship of the beam vibrations. Afterwards, it is clearly shown that the first term in the series expansions is sufficient to produce a highly accurate approximation of the nonlinear system. Finally, preciseness of the present analytical procedures is evaluated in contrast with numerical calculation methods.

Opis:
An understanding of the aerodynamic and biophysical properties of barley malt is necessary for the appropriate design of equipment for the handling, shipping, dehydration, grading, sorting and warehousing of this strategic crop. Malting is a complex biotechnological process that includes steeping; germination and finally, the dehydration of cereal grains under controlled temperature and humidity conditions. In this investigation, the biophysical properties of barley malt were predicted using two models of artificial neural networks as well as response surface methodology. Stepping time and germination time were selected as the independent variables and 1 000 kernel weight, kernel density and terminal velocity were selected as the dependent variables (responses). The obtained outcomes showed that the artificial neural network model, with a logarithmic sigmoid activation function, presents more precise results than the response surface model in the prediction of the aerodynamic and biophysical properties of produced barley malt. This model presented the best result with 8 nodes in the hidden layer and significant correlation coefficient values of 0.783, 0.767 and 0.991 were obtained for responses one thousand kernel weight, kernel density, and terminal velocity, respectively. The outcomes indicated that this novel technique could be successfully applied in quantitative and qualitative monitoring within the malting process.
