Opis:
Based on a three-year field experiment under controlled condition in Ji’nan, China, the effects of peanut growth on the variation in the abundance and community structure of ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and archaea (AOA) before and after peanut growth were investigated through quantitative PCR and cluster analysis of terminal-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Our results show that the community composition of AOA and AOB was greatly affected by the peanut growth leading to the decreased abundance of AOA and increased abundance of AOB. Furthermore, AOA and AOB community structures varied before and after peanut growth. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that all AOA and AOB community sequences were clustered into the uncultured group. Altogether, the results suggested that the abundance of AOA and AOB in soil and their community compositions can be greatly affected by the peanut growth.

Opis:
The paper presents the methods of obtaining photovoltaic structures based on CdXHg1-XTe graded-band-gap epitaxial layers. Barriers in these structures were formed by solid phase doping of the material with low-diffusing impurities (As). High-temperature diffusion of acceptor impurity (As) in intrinsically defective material of n-type conductivity as well as ion introducing the donor impurity (B) in uniformly doped during the epitaxy process material of p-type of conductivity have been used. The possibility of creating multi-element graded-band-gap photovoltaic structures suitable for broad band detection of infrared radiation as a result of epitaxial growth by evaporation-condensation-diffusion method has been demonstrated.

Opis:
Drought variability of Kyrgyzstan is an important component of climate change of high Asia. Long-term information about the history of drought is, however, limited because the instrumental records are short. Here, we developed three chronologies for juniper trees (Juniperus turkestanica) under different microsite conditions in the Gulcha River Basin, Kyrgyzstan. The three chronologies (GUL, GUR and GUD) were compared with climate data which covered the study area. Growth of the GUL site correlates positively with May–June precipitation of the current growing season and September precipitation of the previous year, but negatively with temperatures of prior July, current May and July. Growth of the GUR site correlates positively with precipitation of current May and September, and negatively with temperature of current June and July. Ring width at GUD site is negatively correlated with temperature of the current May and July, and positively correlated with precipitation of prior December and current September. Response analysis shows that water availability is the main factor limiting the radial growth of juniper trees at the GUL and GUD sites. Based on the relationships derived from climate response analyses, the potential of tree-ring chronologies from this species to provide drought reconstructions in the Gulcha River Basin has been established. The GUL chronology and other moisture sensitive tree-ring series from high Asia capture the recent wetting trend. The records contribute to a growing tree-ring network for high Asia, including sites in China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

This research aims at revealing the current status of the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) recycling systems in the European Union (EU), Japan and China which are known to have big vehicle manufacturers. The purpose of this research is to clarify their characteristics and issues, such as existing ELV recycling policy, limitations of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and environmental problems caused by secondhand car export. Japanese ELV recycling system will be analyzed as a specific example. Automakers’ effort to improve ELV recycling rate and the potential influence on recycling policy from large secondhand car export and Next-Generation Vehicle’s (NGV) popularization in Japan will be discussed and generalized. In addition, interview investigation for vehicle makers and government agencies has been conducted to have a comparative analysis of stakeholders’ (mainly automakers) attitude towards current ELV recycling law and future plans which can support Next-Generation Vehicle recycling well, as well as cross-border environmental/international resources recycling problems caused by secondhand car export.

Opis:
Properties of excitons in quantum well structures of ZnCdSe/ZnSe and ZnSe/ZnMgSSe are compared. In ternary ZnCdSe quantum wells and at low temperature excitons are strongly localised. Weaker localization is observed in quantum well structures of ZnSe/ZnMgSSe. Present studies suggest formation of negatively charged excitons in the latter structures.

Opis:
Fe/Si multilayers with strong bilinear and biquadratic couplings were investigated. A complex structure revealed by the Mössbauer spectroscopy corresponds to multimode ferromagnetic resonance spectra in a non-saturated state. Simple dispersion relations for antiferromagnetic coupled bilayer structures are shown to be inapplicable to the Fe/Si multilayers with a strong biquadratic component to the antiferromagnetic bilinear coupling.

Through the combination subject of scientific research, the design method of the winch driven by contactless magnetic coupling is researched for the core purpose of the turning shaft sealing in a deepwater environment. This method has six design phases, including domestic and foreign information query and retrieval, graphic analyses of relevant structures, innovative design of 2D assembly sketches, a theoretical computation of structure parameters, the 3D modeling and motion simulation and engineering drawing. This method is of generality, which can provide examples for the postgraduate students and engineering personnel in self-renovation design of scientific research.

Purpose: The purposes of this article are to study the effective ways of increasing the hydraulic efficiency of gas gathering pipelines of the Yuliivskyi oil and gas condensate production facility (OGCPF); to calculate the operation efficiency of gas gathering pipelines of the Yuliivskyi OGCPF and develop a set of measures to monitor their condition and improve their hydraulic characteristics; to investigate the technology of cleaning the inner cavity of flowlines of gas-condensate wells with foam, to perform the feasibility study on the prospects of its application in practice. Design/methodology/approach: The technology of cleaning the inner cavity of flowlines of gas-condensate wells with foam was investigated to objectively evaluate its application and determine the effectiveness of this measure. The research was carried out within the framework of research and development work by the specialists of the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Natural Gases. Findings: The results of production studies showed that due to cleaning the flowlines of gas-condensate wells (No.85 and No.60) from the accumulation of liquid, the coefficients of their hydraulic efficiency increased by 12% and 7%, respectively. Measures taken to clean the inner cavity of the flowlines from liquid have proven their efficiency and can be recommended for other flowlines of wells at other production fields. Research limitations/implications: Based on the characteristics of gas gathering pipelines, it is reasonable to conduct experimental studies on the use of the proposed technology of cleaning the inner cavity with foam in the case of increasing its multiplicity. Practical implications: Using the wells of the Yuliivske oil and gas condensate field as case studies, the operating parameters were measured and the pressure losses along the length of the flowlines were calculated. According to the results of calculations at two wells (No.85 and No.60), a significant excess of the actual value of the flow friction characteristic over the theoretical value was established. To reduce excessive pressure losses due to the presence of liquid and improve the hydraulic characteristics of the wells, their inner cavities were cleaned using foam with the expansion ratio from 40 to 100. Originality/value: It is important to note that the advantages of foam piston include: ease of use, no occurrence of hydraulic shocks and preventing stuck during movement in the gas pipeline, application in both straight and inclined sections, no wear of the elements of the cleaning equipment, a rather efficient cleaning of gas pipelines.

The dielectric study of $Sr_{0.73}Ba_{0.27}Nb_2O_6:Ce$ (SBN) crystals along [010] crystallographic axis was performed in the temperature region of 310-360 K and frequency range from 25 Hz up to 1 MHz. The thermal dipole relaxation of quasi-Debye-type for this orientation of sample was observed in both investigated structural phases. The phase transition was most clearly seen from the temperature dependence of the relaxation time at $T_{c}$ = 320 K. The relaxation processes were related to the collective oscillations of the Nb-O bonds in the two different type corner-sharing $NbO_6$ octahedra aligned along c-axis.

Opis:
A composite fabric consisting of an outer shell, moisture barrier, thermal liner and comfort layer used for firefighters’ protective clothing, was incorporated with shape-stabilised phase change material (PCM) powder in order to improve the thermal protection capability provided by thermal protective clothing. Then we conducted a series of FTP (fire testing protection) experiments to investigate the effects of PCM location and phase change temperature on the heat protection efficiency of firefighters’ protective fabrics (FFPFs). Simultaneously the thermoregulation performance of the composite fabrics with PCMs was evaluated by using step-cooling experimental technology during the cooling process. Data from the FTP tests were also compared with those from the existing enthalpy formulation model of heat transfer through FFPFs embedded with PCMs. It was concluded that the use of PCMs could improve the heat buffering capacity. However, as PCM has a moderate melting temperature, it is better than the other two samples because they have a lower and higher melting temperature. Therefore PX 52 PCMs (melting temperature: 47 - 53 °C) could provided the maximum heat protection time compared with the other two kinds of PCMs.
W celu zwiększenia zdolności ochrony termicznej odzieży ochronnej dla strażaków, przy użyciu stabilizowanego materiału zmiennofazowego w postaci proszku, stworzono materiał kompozytowy składający się z powłoki zewnętrznej, warstwy stanowiącej barierę dla wilgoci, wkładki termicznej i warstwy zapewniającej komfort. W celu zbadania wpływu umieszczenia materiału zmiennofazowego i temperatury przemiany fazowej na efektywność ochrony cieplnej przeprowadzono serię eksperymentów (testy ochrony przeciwpożarowej). Jednocześnie oceniono zdolność termoregulacji tkanin kompozytowych, oceny tej dokonano stosując technikę stopniowego chłodzenia. Dane z badań porównano z danymi teoretycznymi. Stwierdzono, że stosowanie materiałów zmiennofazowych może poprawić zdolność buforowania ciepła. Określono optymalny rodzaj materiału zmiennofazowego.

Purpose: The purposes of the article are to determine the hydraulic efficiency of two gas gathering pipelines of the Yuliivskyi oil and gas condensate production facility (OGCPF) and develop a set of measures to increase it; to experimentally determine the efficiency of using foams to increase the hydraulic characteristics of the gas gathering pipelines in the Yuliivskyi OGCPF; to develop a set of measures that will help to improve the hydraulic characteristics of gas gathering pipelines. Design/methodology/approach: The research methodology consists in determining the hydraulic efficiency of gas gathering pipelines before and after cleaning their inner cavity with foams with different expansion ratios and comparing the obtained values, which allows to objectively assess the efficiency of this cleaning method. The studies were performed within the framework of research and development work by the specialists of the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Natural Gases. Findings: The pilot testing was carried out to determine the efficiency of cleaning the inner cavity of gas gathering pipelines with foams with different expansion ratios. It showed positive results. It was determined that cleaning the inner cavity of gas gathering pipelines with foams with the expansion ratio from 80 to 90 led to an increase in the hydraulic efficiency coefficient by 10.5%, and with foams with the expansion ratio from 50 to 60 - by 5.7%. The measures taken to clean the inner cavity of gas gathering pipelines from liquid contaminations have proven their efficiency and can be recommended for other fields. Research limitations/implications: The obtained results show that it is reasonable to conduct the experimental studies on the efficiency of cleaning the inner cavity of gas gathering pipelines with the foams with higher expansion ratios. To achieve the maximum quality of cleaning the gas gathering pipelines, it is necessary to develop a new method that will combine the use of foam and gel piston.Practical implications: The performed experimental studies help to take a more reasonable approach to cleaning the inner cavity of gas gathering pipelines with foams and to predict in advance the effect of the foam expansion ratio on the hydraulic efficiency of gas gathering pipelines. Originality/value: The experimental studies on the effect of foam expansion ratios on the hydraulic efficiency of gas gathering pipelines are original.

Current-voltage characteristics and temperature dependence of differential conductance were studied in lithographically patterned (lateral dimensions from 10 x 10 μm$\text{}^{2}$ to 100 x 100 μm$\text{}^{2}$) ferromagnetic EuS-PbS-EuS microstructures. Below the ferromagnetic transition temperature a 4% decrease in the structure conductance was observed for mutual antiferromagnetic orientation of magnetization vectors of ferromagnetic EuS layers.
