Opis:
The surface states of 3d transition metals are studied by scanning tunneling microscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The results show that surface states can be used for chemical identification with high spatial resolution. The spin polarized nature of the surface states allows us to obtain magnetic contrast in scanning tunneling miroscopy imaging with near atomic resolution. For Cr(100) we found that the surface state close to the Fermi level can be explained by an orbital Kondo resonance surface state.

Opis:
To explore new antifungal agents for rice blast control, the antifungal activity of a series of novel 1,2,4-triazole derivatives against Magnaporthe oryzae has been evaluated. The antifungal activity was determined by using in vitro mycelial growth inhibition tests. Among the 19 test compounds, we found that the compound 1-(4-phenoxymethyl-2-phenyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)-1H-1,2,4- triazole (Gj) displayed potent antifungal activity against M. oryzae. The IC50 value was found approximately 3.8±0.5 μM and the IC50 value of propiconazole was found to be approximately 3.7±0.2 μM, respectively. Structure-activity relationship studies on aromatic ring structures provided insight and information about the structural requirements for antifungal activity of this synthetic series against M. oryzae.

Opis:
Color is an inseparable element of our lives and is a part of everything we perceive. Colour has a strong impact on our decision making process. Therefore there is a direct connection between the colour and psychological functions. Kansei is a Japanese concept, which abstracts the subjective internal process in the brain, which is activated by external stimuli. Furthermore, Kansei is a function of the brain which integrates sensibility, sense, sensitivity, aesthetics, emotion, affection and intuition. Therefore measuring Kansei is a broader aspect of measuring psychological functioning of the brain. In this research, colour interaction and respective psychological functioning is measured using Kansei measurement method. Further the result of this research was compared with an circumflex model for personality and emotions to recognize the variability of colours in terms of emotional regions. The results indicate that colours have a variable nature and are associated with several different emotions in several different intensities. Colours which have longer wavelengths are more arousing and they generate more psychological functioning than the colours which have shorter wavelengths.

Opis:
Novel Sugar Dendritic Gd-DTPA Complexes for MRI Contrast Agents were prepared and evaluated by in vitro and in vivo methods. The sugar dendritic MRI contrast agents have a good blood vesse pool character, and draw blood vessels and liver cancer remarkably clearer than the clinically using Gd-DTPA. Phospha sugar derivatives or phosphorus heterocyclic derivatives provided by functional groups such as epoxide, bromide, etc., were prepared and evaluated by MTT in vitro method. These phospha sugar derivatives showed excellent activities against leukemia cells as well as solid cancer cells in fashions of (i) higher activity, (ii) wider spectra, (iii) higher selectivity and specificity distingushing healthy and cancer cells, etc., compared with the molecular targeting chemotheraputic anti-cancer agent, Gleevec.
