    Opis:
    Methods and results of tests on several models of cylinder-shape fbrous covers, subjected to explosion impact, have been presented. The tested covers consisted of layers of ballistic textile made of para-aramide fbres featuring special structure and between the layers a chamber with various shock absorption layers was created. Moreover, methods of tests of cylinder-shape covers’ resistance to explosion of charges with fragments were presented, considering various parameters of base under the cylinder, sort, location and ways of charge ignition, manners of registering the area of threat and covers’ reaction to the explosions. Having the methods applied, it was shown how the shock absorption layers minimize the effect of decrease of strength of ballistic textile layers of cylinder under the impact of air shock wave, explosion products and metal fragments formed after explosion of charges. In the tests the 200 g TNT bars stuffed with various sorts and numbers of small metal elements, including standard fragments and balls of various diameters, were used. The analysis of both protective capabilities of the covers and the devastation resulting from impact of blast-propelled fragments was performed.

    The impact of musical experience on results concerning sound perception in selected auditory tasks, such as pitch discrimination, pitch-timbre categorization and pitch memorization for blind and visually impaired children and teenagers is discussed. Subjects were divided into three groups: of those with no experience of music, with small musical experience and with substantial musical experience. The blind and visually impaired subjects were investigated, while sighted persons formed reference groups. To date no study has described impact of musical experience on results of such experiments for blind and visually impaired children and teenagers. Our results suggest that blind persons with musical experience may be more sensitive to frequency differences and differences in timbre between two signals as well as may have better short-term auditory memory than blind people with no musical experience. Musical experience of visually impaired persons does not necessary lead to better performance in all conducted auditory tasks.

    The aim of this study was to create a single-language counterpart of the International Speech Test Signal (ISTS) and to compare both with respect to their acoustical characteristics. The development procedure of the Polish Speech Test Signal (PSTS) was analogous to the one of ISTS. The main difference was that instead of multi-lingual recordings, speech recordings of five Polish speakers were used. The recordings were cut into 100-600 ms long segments and composed into one-minute long signal, obeying a set of composition rules, imposed mainly to preserve a natural, speech-like features of the signal. Analyses revealed some differences between ISTS and PSTS. The latter has about twice as high volume of voiceless fragments of speech. PSTS’s sound pressure levels in 1/3-octave bands resemble the shape of the Polish long-term average female speech spectrum, having distinctive maxima at 3-4 and 8-10 kHz which ISTS lacks. As PSTS is representative of Polish language and contains inputs from multiple speakers, it can potentially find an application as a standardized signal used during the procedure of fitting hearing aids for patients that use Polish as their main language.

    The methodology and results of several cylinder-shaped, fibrous covers were presented with various cushioning layers, subject to charge explosion. The charges included 200 g TNT slabs and various number and kinds of fragments and balls of various diameters. The reactions of cylinder fibrous covers to the explosions were presented as well, as the screens located behind them. Protective performance of various cylinder models was determined.

    Performance of blind/visually impaired children and teenagers before and after the auditory training and the music training in some auditory tasks (pitch discrimination, pitch-timbre categorization, pitch memory, lateralization of a stationary sound of a drum, lateralization of one or two moving motor vehicles) is compared. In the auditory training, the subjects were actively involved, i.e. they had to answer questions related to presented sound material. The music training was based on passive listening to sounds presented according to the Tomatis method. The training (auditory or music) effectiveness was measured as a difference between results of a pre- and post-training verification test in which the subjects were asked to perform the auditory tasks mentioned at the beginning. The persons who took part in the study were divided into two age groups: 7-12 year olds and 13-19 year olds. According to the results, the auditory training was beneficial for blind or visually impaired teenagers, especially in respect of lateralization tasks. For small children the auditory training was not as effective as for adolescents. However, it has been shown that the music training was generally beneficial for them, although none of the verification tasks was privileged.

    Results of an auditory training for blind/visually impaired children and teenagers are presented. A measure of the training effectiveness is the difference between the results of a pre- and post-training verification test. Two age groups of visually handicapped young persons were tested: 7-12 years old and 14-19 years old. It was shown that the training may be beneficiary for blind or visually impaired children and teenagers, especially in tasks related to localization of moving sound sources. No differences in training results were found between age groups. The results of trained groups were compared to those obtained for not trained control groups of young blind individuals.

    W pracy przedstawiono analizę porównawczą oraz ocenę metod obliczeniowych dla transportu pneumatycznego materiałów sypkich o niskiej koncentracji masowej w typowej przemysłowej instalacji. Do analizy wykorzystano trzy modele obliczeniowe różnych autorów, których kryterium oceny były opory tarcia powstałe w wyniku przepływu mieszaniny dwufazowej powietrza i ciała stałego.
    A comparison analysis and calculation methods for pneumatic conveying of powder materials are presented in the paper. A low mass concentration of powder materials in a typical industrial installation was considered. Three calculating models of various authors were used in analysis. In two-phase gas - solid flow the evaluation criterion based on friction pressure drop was determined.

    W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu kształtu dyszy ssącej na warunki transportu pneumatycznego w dyszach ssących o przekroju prostokątnym. Opisano tworzące się struktury przepływu dwufazowego gaz-ciało stałe w tego typu dyszach oraz podano obszary ich występowania na uniwersalnej mapie przepływu.
    The paper presents test results of the impact of suction nozzle shape on the pneumatic conveying conditions in suction nozzles with a rectangular cross section. The formation of two-phase gas – solid flow structures in a nozzle with rectangular cross section is described. The occurring these structures in the universal flow map is also shown.

    Przedstawiono badania wpływu kształtu dyszy ssącej na warunki transportu pneumatycznego takie jak: strumień masy materiału sypkiego, strumień masy powietrza, ciśnienie na dyszy ssącej. Podjęto również próbę oceny wpływu zaburzeń strugi materiału sypkiego wewnątrz dyszy ssącej na energochłonność podciśnieniowego transportu pneumatycznego. Opis mechaniki powstawania zaburzeń w dyszy ssącej i jej wpływu na warunki transportu pneumatycznego pozwoli na opracowanie kryteriów doboru dysz ssących w zależności od transportowanego materiału sypkiego.
    This article presents the study of the impact of the shape of the suction nozzle on the pneumatic transport conditions such as mass flow of bulk material, the air mass flow, pressure on the suction nozzle. Studies have been conducted as an attempt to assess the impact of disturbances the stream of bulk material on the energy consumption of the suction nozzle vacuum pneumatic conveying. Description of mechanism of the disturbances formation in the suction nozzle and its influence on transport conditions could help to develop the criteria for the selection of suction nozzles, depending on the transported bulk material.

    Sarmatian sands and bur ied Pleis to cene val leys of the Kedzierzyn-Głubczyce Subtrough represent one of the main aquifers in southern Poland ( MGWB-332 - Major Ground Water Basin). This aquifer is intensively exploited, supplying tap water for the human population and for industry in the whole area; but, being confined, it has no influence on the ground water ecosystems. Two Ground Water Bodies (GWB-128 and GWB-129), introduced by administrative decisions according to EUDirectives, approximately cover the area of MGWB-332. The present study is related to the eastern part, the Sarmatian and buriedval eys sands of MGWB-332, i.e. to the most im - portant part of the multiaquifer GWB-129 which in profile consists of Holocene and Pleistocene sands, confined Sarmatian and Pleistocene buried valley sands, and Badenian sands. The presence and influence of deeper permeable formations is not addressed. The Sarmatian and Badenian aquifers are recharged and drained mainly by vertical seepages. Hydrodynamic modelling of the whole Kędzierzyn-Głubczyce Subthrough and tracer data indicate modern ages at the out crops of the Sarmatian under the Pleistocene deposits and mid to early Holocene ages close to the Odra River valley. Waters are of the HCO3-Ca type, changing at the centre of the Sarmatian to the SO4-Ca type due to the contribution of ascending sulphate water from the Badenian strata, whereas water in the buried Quaternary valley is of the HCO3-Na type, which means no significant contribution of ascending waters. Polluted modern waters occur only at the north west ern boundary in the area of the hydrogeological window. The quality of waters and their hydrochemistry result from water-rock in teractions and seepage exchanges with overlying and underlying aquifers belonging to the same GWB. Natural distributions of most major, minor and trace constituents are very wide, exemplifying difficulties in defining the quality of water in aunique way for the whole aquifer and particularly for the investigated multi-aquifer GWB.
