Thomas Platter (1499–1582) was a Swiss humanist, printer and writer. At the age of 72, he wrote his autobiography. He devoted a large part of his life to studies. He would travel from city to city, looking for thing to learn. He probably spent a few years (since 1516) in Wrocław. In his autobiography, he covered a lot of the time including students’ life. Platter noted that all lectures took place simultaneously in one room while the St. Elisabeth School library could offer one book. The students had a responsibility to sing in churches. In their free time, they would go to pubs and begged for money. The living conditions were very poor: many students slept on the floor in a single room or at the parish cemetery, plagued by rats and lice. Therefore they frequently fell sick. Platter cared about food and mentioned it very often in his memoirs; when he travelled sometimes there was nothing to eat but in the cities he happened to eat too much. The life of a traveling student in the 15th-16th centuries was very dangerous. Thomas Platter’s autobiography is a very important source of information, indicating all the obstacles to the process of learning in the early sixteenth century.

Thanks to development of ICT consumers have been given new tools, which make searching for information and sharing opinions easier. New communication tools have become subject of many publications. Having read them we may come to a conclusion that consumers' role in marketing communication has increased significantly and that consumers are the dominant subject of communication process. The author of this article proves that the above conclusion is false. In fact, the author puts the opposite thesis, which says that advertisers have huge advantage observed in opportunities of common advertisements' individualization, which is done to consumers' unawareness. It doesn't matter if it is a consumer who initiates exchange of information as his/her behaviour was previously carefully monitored and controlled consequently.

The goal of metrology is to ensure the reliability of measurements. Modern measuring instruments use control software. The software affects the reliability and quality of measurement. The risk of lowering the reliability of measurements requires the use of digital security principles in metrology. Guidelines for measuring instruments should include these principles.

Perspektywa taka tworzy nowe możliwości w obszarze prac badawczych i nadzoru, aby zapewnić bezpieczeństwo cyfrowe infrastruktury pomiarowej.
The development of technology in the field of ICT leads to the creation of new classes of functionality and services with regard to creating, processing and using data. Solutions of virtualization and the use of network resources also appear more often in the design of new measuring instruments. Communication possibilities, the remote control of instruments, collecting measurement data sent by network, creating central databases and their analysis, open wider opportunities for metrology. In order to benefit from them, secure infrastructure is necessary, which will fulfil not only security requirements offered by ICT but also will ensure compliance with the requirements developed by metrology. Such perspective provides new opportunities in the field of research works and supervision to ensure the digital security of metrological infrastructure.

Zabezpieczenie transmisji danych urządzeń pomiarowych jest ważnym obszarem bezpieczeństwa cyfrowego determinującym rzetelność pomiaru. Metody ochrony takie jak ograniczenie dostępu do zasobów systemu, czy techniki uwierzytelnienia i kodowania informacji utrzymują ryzyko transmisji cyfrowej w akceptowalnych granicach. Jednakże w praktyce wciąż wykrywane są elementarne luki zabezpieczeń sieciowych w przyrządach pomiarowych. Temat zabezpieczeń transmisji danych w rozwiązaniach metrologicznych jest więc aktualny. W nowych urządzeniach wprowadzanych na rynek, przesyłanie wyników pomiarów jest pożądaną funkcjonalnością. W entuzjazmie korzystania z dostępu online nie można zapomnieć o testowaniu bezpieczeństwa, badaniach oraz kontroli. Na straży wiarygodności pomiaru, poza rozwiązaniami informatycznymi, stoją regulacje prawne, normy oraz wytyczne organizacji metrologicznych. Zawarte w nich wymogi i zalecenia opisują metodykę testów wyszczególniając ochronę transmisji danych w przyrządach pomiarowych.
Securing data transmission in measuring instruments is the important area of digital security, which determines the reliability of measurement. Methods of protection such as limited access to system resources or the use of authentication and information encoding techniques keep the risk of digital transmission in acceptable limits. However, in practice elementary security gaps are still detected in measuring instruments. The subject of securing data transmission is up-to-date in metrological solutions. In new devices placed on the market, sending measurement results is a desired functionality. In enthusiasm over using online access, we cannot forget about testing security, researches and control. IT solutions, legal regulations, standards and guidelines of metrological organizations uphold the reliability of measurement. Requirements and recommendations contained in them, describe the methodology of tests, specifying the protection of data transmission in measuring instruments.

Six hybrid N-ureidoethylamides of octapeptides in which an N-terminal cyclic structure related to enkephalin was elongated by a C-terminal fragment of deltorphin were synthesized on MBHA resin. The synthetic procedure involved deprotection of Boc groups with HCl/dioxane and cleavage of the peptide resin with 45 % TFA in DCM. d-Lys and d-Orn were incorporated in position 2, and Lys, Orn, Dab, or Dap in position 5. The side chains of the dibasic amino function were protected with the Fmoc group. This protection was removed by treatment with 55 % piperidine in DMF, and cyclization was achieved by treatment with bis-(4-nitrophenyl)carbonate. Using various combinations of dibasic amino acids, peptides containing a 17-, 18-, 19- or 20-membered ring structure were obtained. The peptides were tested in the guinea-pig ileum (GPI) and mouse vas deferens (MVD) assays. Diverse opioid activities were observed, depending on the size of the ring. Extension of the enkephalin sequence at the C-terminus by a deltorphin fragment resulted in a change of receptor selectivity in favor of the δ receptor. The conformational propensities of selected peptides were determined using the EDMC method in conjunction with data derived from NMR experiments carried out in water. This approach allowed proper examination of the dynamical behavior of these small peptides. The results were compared with those obtained earlier with corresponding N-(ureidoethyl)pentapeptide amides.

In many plants belonging to angiosperms and gymnosperms the accumulation in leaves of long chain polyprenols and polyprenyl esters during growth in natural habitats depends on the light intensity. The amount of polyprenols in leaves is also positively correlated with the thickness of the leaf blade (SLA, specific leaf area). The polyprenol content of leaves shows seasonal changes with a maximum in autumn and a minimum in early summer with the difference between poorly and well illuminated plants persisting throughout the vegetation season.

One of the manifestations of physical activity are martial arts. Modern research also concerns the problem of treating martial arts not only as a means of self defence, sport or how one spends their free time, but also as a therapy. Therapy throu gh traditional martial arts can help treat many medical disorders. It was acclaimed that participation in the traditional martial arts promotes mental health. It was noted that the sense of self - worth and self - esteem of competence is directly related to th e time spent doing training. Current studies show that the traditional martial arts are largely effective, complementary strategy of medical care and rehabilitation of chronic diseases. By watching yet another MMA event on the TV, seeing players’ faces bei ng hit and blood flowing on their bodies, it is worth to be aware that it’s just a spectacular event. The everyday life of people concerned with martial arts is different. Often times they undertake these exercises to improve their physical fitness and the quality of life. It is followed by taking responsibility for their health and not giving it exclusively to the doctor. This results in an active and rational fight agains any disease.

W czasie wojny obronnej we wrześniu 1939 roku Uniejów i jego okolice były miejscem zaciętych walk pomiędzy oddziałami polskiej armii „Poznań” i niemieckiej 8 armii. Taktyczne znaczenie Uniejowa związane było ze znajdującą się tutaj przeprawą przez rzekę Wartę, której utrzymanie miało kluczowe znaczenie dla wojsk polskich, maszerujących znad granicy w kierunku Warszawy. Wrogie sobie oddziały stoczyły w tym rejonie walkę o utrzymanie przeprawy mostowej (Polacy), bądź jej zdobycie (Niemcy). Bitwa miała miejsce w dniach 6–7 września, gdy polski Oddział Wydzielony ppłk. Mariana Frydrycha, dowódcy 60 Pułku Piechoty Wielkopolskiej z 25 Dywizji Piechoty, uniemożliwił oddziałom 30 Dywizji Piechoty z 8 armii Wehrmachtu zdobycie i zniszczenie mostu w Uniejowie, a tym samym zapewnił bezpieczeństwo przeprawy oddziałom macierzystej armii. Bitwa miała dwie fazy, pierwszą była zasadzka 2 batalionu 60 pp pod Balinem w dn. 6 września wieczorem. Drugą był kontratak sił niemieckich, rozpoczęty następnego dnia rano. Bitwa pod Uniejowem była wstępem do walk tych samych oddziałów pod Łęczycą (I faza bitwy nad Bzurą). Autorzy po raz pierwszy w polskiej historiografii wykorzystują dokumenty dywizyjne z archiwów niemieckich, identyfikując wojska Wehrmachtu, biorące udział w tych walkach, do szczebla pododdziałów oraz prezentując obraz walk z perspektywy wojsk agresora. Udało się także jednoznacznie wyjaśnić nierozstrzygniętą dotąd w piśmiennictwie kwestię rozbicia przez Niemców 1 batalionu 29 Pułku Strzelców Kaniowskich pod Uniejowem 7 września wieczorem.  
During the defensive war in September 1939, Uniejów and its region were the site of fierce fighting between the troops of the Polish Army “Poznań” and German 8th Army. The tactical significance of Uniejów was due to the bridge across the river Warta, which was of key importance for Polish troops marching from the state border to Warsaw. The fights took place on 6–7 September. The Detachment of Marian Frydrych, commanding officer of 60th Regiment of Wielkopolska Infantry of 25th Infantry Division prevented German troops of 30th Infantry Division from seizing and destroying the bridge, which meant safe crossing for Polish soldiers. The authors are the first in Polish historiography to make use of documents from German military archives and to present the fights from the German army perspective. It also was possible to clear up the question of defeating 1st Battalion of 29th Kaniov Rifle Regiment near Uniejów in the evening of 7 September.
