Opis:: The rocky sandstone landforms, which are interesting geotouristic objects, occur in the eastern part of Istebna village. The series of rock walls and pulpits is located on the southern slopes of the Karolówka Range. Fragments of the upper sandstones of Istebna Formation (Upper Cretaceous–Paleocene) crop out within these rocks. They represent the period of intensive supply of the clastic material into the Outer Carpathian Silesian Basin leading to the origin of thick-bedded , very coarse-grained sandstones and conglomerates. The occurrence of large, numerous crystalline rocks is a particular and unique feature of these outcrops. These magmatic and metamorphic rocks were derived from the basement of the Carpathian basins. This paper describes the detailed characteristics of these rocky landform objects.
We wschodniej części wsi Istebna występują piaskowcowe formy skałkowe, które są interesującymi obiektami geoturystycznymi. Są to serie ambon i ścian skalnych znajdujące się w kilku miejscach na południowych zboczach grzbietu Karolówki. W ich obrębie odsłonięte są fragmenty profilu górnych piaskowców formacji istebniańskiej jednostki śląskiej (górna kreda-paleocen), które reprezentują okres intensywnej dostawy materiału okruchowego do karpackiego basenu śląskiego, w efekcie czego powstały serie gruboławicowych i bardzo gruboławicowych piaskowców i zlepieńców. Szczególną cechą związaną z tymi wychodniami jest obecność licznych i dużych bloków skał krystalicznych: magmowych i metamorficznych, pochodzących z erozji podłoża, na którym rozwinęły się baseny karpackie. W niniejszym artykule dokonano charakterystyki jednostkowej tych obiektów skałkowych.

Opis:: In this article, the most recent moldavite discoveries in Poland and their host sediments are characterised and discussed. They were discovered at Lasów, located about 8 km north of Zgorzelec (Poland) and Görlitz (Germany), about 700 m from the Polish-German border, close to the Lusatian Neisse (Nysa) River. The tektites were collected from Vistulian (Wiechselian) glacial age sand and gravel of a closed quarry pit, associated with the river terraces. In the Lasów area, the moldavite-bearing sediments are Pleistocene in age and represent Lusatian Neisse terrace deposits. They were redeposited from the upper part of the drainage basin of the Lusatian Neisse, probably washed out from the Miocene sediments that filled the Zittau Depression, the Berzdorf–Radomierzyce Depression, the Višňová Depression and the tectonically uplifted Izera Mts. and Działoszyn Depression. The erosion of Miocene deposit occured on a large scale in the uplifted foothills of the Upper Miocene Izera, Lusatia and Kaczawa complexes. The sediment cover was removed from the Działoszyn Depression. The drainage basin of the Lusatian Neisse is the area where moldavites were formed by the Nördlinger Ries impact. The source area of moldavite is the same for the Miocene deposits around Gozdnica, as well as for the Pleistocene sediments at Lasów.

Opis:: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is observed as a group of post-traumatic mental and physical clinical symptoms. It affects soldiers returning from missions as well as victims of different types of disasters. The combat stress symptoms are follow-up of a triggering factor. The reaction of the limbic system associated with the emotional state circulation in the Papez area, causing the variety of vegetative effects, especially circulatory, plays a significant role. Consequences of the combat stress apply to mental and emotional changes, a dynamic stereotype and have indirect effects within individual’s family life and his/her immediate surroundings. Providing people suffering from combat stress syndromes with psychological and psychiatric care is crucial.

Opis:: In the paper the problems of cryosurgery treatment are discussed. In particular the heat exchange between external cylindrical cryoprobe and human tissue is analyzed. The cryoprobe tip temperature changes from the initial temperature to the minimal one and back in a linear way (broken line). Thermophysical parameters determining the thermal properties of tissue can be treated as the temperature-dependent functions. The freezing model bases on the approach called ‘a one domain method’, and in the energy equation called a substitute thermal capacity appears. At the stage of computations the control volume method (CVM) is used. In the final part of paper the examples of computations are presented.

Opis:: In the paper the pure metal crystallization process is considered. The cooling conditions of the metal domain are determined by the mould dimensions and thermophysical parameters of the mould material (volumetric specific heat and thermal conductivity). The mathematical model of heat transfer processes proceeding in the system metal – mould is created by the system of heat diffusion partial differential equations corresponding to the sub-domains considered supplemented by the adequate geometrical, physical and boundary-initial conditions. The sensitivity model determining the perturbations of thermal processes due to the perturbations of cooling processes can be constructed using the direct approach (differentiation with respect to parameters analyzed) or using the differential quotients. Both approaches will be discussed in the paper presented.
