The aim of this paper is to characterize the relation between the urban  landscape (the image of the city) and the subject. The landscape is understood here in two ways: as something alien, excluding, and hostile, but also as something that gains new features when in contact with the Other. For it can be said, paraphrasing Siegfried Lenz’s famous statement on the relation between man and landscape, that the city is being created through us. The relationship between the residents and the urban landscape has a reciprocal character, in which “I” places itself in relation to a certain “you.”

Effective communication is the most important skill a leader can have. It is thanks to her that he achieves his goals and is effective in action and influencing the environment. The article deals with the topic of skilful communication of a leader. The authors of the publication characterized the process of social communication aimed at causing the recipient of information to change the consciousness intended by the sender. Communication skills are presented as a trait of a leader, as well as trust in him as one of the most important conditions for its effectiveness. The personality trait of charisma was also discussed, thanks to which the person possessing it owes unquestionable authority in people and influence on them. It is often the most succinct way of describing the trait that distinguishes effective leaders from subordinates. In order to analyse the quality of communication in the managed team, the study contains sets of questions that should be answered by the leader. They contain questions to be asked when analysing the process of giving direction, analysing your level of empathy for feedback in the communication process and building team morale, and analysing the process of your leadership activity towards your team members. The publication also characterizes the performance of a leader in a multicultural environment and describes models of the leadership process.

Opis:
Crisis communication is an important element in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. It allows for efficient exchange of information between the government and society. The crisis situation caused by Sars-CoV-2 has a negative impact on human life and health as well as on the information environment. Institutions and specially appointed teams responsible for providing information are obliged to provide reliable information based on expert knowledge. A dangerous phenomenon is disinformation, which, combined with the pandemic, may cause an increase in the crisis situation and the risks associated with it. Crisis communication based on principles and goals will lead to overcoming the effect of panic, fear and ignorance among the public. The aim of the article is to present the methods of crisis communication during the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to draw conclusions about the researched problem, the method of analysis of sources conducted with the technique of desk research secondary data analysis was used. Existing materials, including developed reports and summaries, were analysed.

W ciągu ostatnich lat dużą popularność zyskała problematyka związana z cyberbezpieczeństwem. Jest ono pojęciem złożonym i wymagającym wielopłaszczyznowych działań. Cyberprzestrzeń, o której mówi się, rozpatrując cyberbezpieczeństwo, dotyczy zjawisk zarówno pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych. Te drugie rozwijają się w bardzo szybkim tempie, o czym świadczą chociażby relacje w środkach masowego przekazu. W takim otoczeniu ważna jest wiedza na temat zagrożeń występujących w sieci i sposobów skutecznego przeciwdziałania im lub reagowania na nie. W artykule zostaną przedstawione problemy związane z wybranymi zagadnieniami cyberbezpieczeństwa oraz ich wpływ na różne aspekty życia człowieka. Wskazane zostaną również sposoby radzenia sobie z zagrożeniami poprzez zróżnicowane formy i metody edukacji społeczeństwa.

Background: Hate speech is a very important problem nowadays. One can meet it in one’s immediate surroundings (conversations with friends), the media, the Internet, or in the so-called public space (for example, inscriptions on the walls). One form of hate speech is online hate speech, which, together with certain other phenomena, is referred to as hejt in the Polish language. The authors of the article focus on presenting online hate speech in relation to various age and social groups. Objectives: The aim of the article is to present the phenomenon of hate speech on the web and its impact on the safety of Internet users. Methods: The article uses basic theoretical and empirical methods. Content published on the Internet is analyzed and case studies are described. Interviews with experts (psychologists, police officers, sociologists, media and hate speech specialists) were also conducted and their views are presented. Conclusions: In the discussion about hate speech, prevention is extremely important. According to the authors, broad prevention consisting of professionally prepared content, enriched with film materials, presented by an expert or a trained teacher, should be included in the core curriculum of schools as one of the mandatory issues raised during the lessons.

This article aims to present the urban space of Iława (former Deutsch Eylau). The authors mainly draw on cartographic sources from the 17th and 18th centuries. The first source – a map of Jeziorak Lake (formerlyGeserich See) from 1620, allows many conclusions to be reached about the view of the town in modern times. The authors also discuss two plans from the second half of the 18th century. In order to complement our knowledge of the items that appear in the 17th and 18th centuries, it was necessary to use several plans from the 19th century

Opis:
Shunting stations play an essential role in ensuring the proper functioning of the railway transport system. The proper organisation of their work allows trains to be dispatched on time and compensates for delays in other areas of the railway network. This paper presents a method for evaluating the technological process of wagon processing at shunting stations based on the author's formulation of evaluation measures and using a simulation model developed in Flexsim. A variant computational example was developed to verify it and demonstrate its capabilities. The method has many applications in assisting decision-makers in organising shunting station operations, adapting the shunting station layout to the tasks or identifying bottlenecks.

Opis:
The article presents the characteristics of a case study - stroke survivors with unilateral neglect syndrome, mechanisms used in re-education training and elements of functional rehabilitation. The focus was on an important diagnostic problem in the field of occupational medicine and the return to driving for people after stroke. The aim of the research work undertaken was to justify the experimental description of the driver after a stroke and to confirm the possibility of returning to driving, including compulsory re-education. Literature analysis, review of legal acts, characteristics of adaptation devices and conclusions from the case study were also carried out.
W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę studium przypadku – osoby po udarze z zespołem jednostronnego zaniedbania, mechanizmy stosowane w treningu reedukacyjnym oraz elementy rehabilitacji funkcjonalnej. Skupiono się na ważnym problemie diagnostycznym z zakresu medycyny pracy i powrotu do prowadzenia pojazdów dla osób po udarze. Celem podjętych prac badawczych było uzasadnienie eksperymentalnego opisu kierowcy po udarze oraz potwierdzenie możliwości powrotu do jazdy, w tym obowiązkowej reedukacji. Przeprowadzono również analizę literatury, przegląd aktów prawnych, charakterystykę urządzeń adaptacyjnych oraz wnioski ze studium przypadku.

In 2020, there was the 5th anniversary of establishing, by the Director of the Motor Transport Institute, the Automotive Service Centre for the Disabled Persons together with the National Information Point, the only information, training and research centre in Poland, supporting the community of people with physical disabilities in the area of mobility. This study is an overview of the research and social work to date, scientific publications and pro-social tasks that contributed to the development of motorism in this social group. Such activities are part of the mission of the Institute, which coordinates and promotes scientific research and development works in the field of road transport, while developing innovative technical, organizational and economic solutions. ASC is an example of an innovative comprehensive organizational solution, based on the needs of people with disabilities.
W 2020 roku minęła 5 rocznica powołania przez Dyrektora Instytutu Transportu Samochodowego Centrum Usług Motoryzacyjnych dla Osób Niepełnosprawnych wraz z Ogólnopolskim Punktem Informacyjnym, jedynego w Polsce ośrodka informacyjnoszkoleniowo- badawczego, wspierającego środowisko osób z niepełnosprawnościami ruchowymi w obszarze mobilności. Opracowanie niniejsze stanowi przegląd dotychczasowych prac badawczo-społecznych, publikacji naukowych i zadań prospołecznych, które przyczyniły się do rozwoju motoryzacji tej grupy społecznej. Działania takie wpisały się w misję Instytutu, który zajmuje się koordynacją i propagowaniem badań naukowych oraz prac rozwojowych z zakresu transportu samochodowego, opracowując jednocześnie innowacyjne rozwiązania techniczne, organizacyjne i ekonomiczne. CUM jest przykładem innowacyjnego kompleksowego rozwiązania organizacyjnego, opierającego się o potrzeby osób z niepełnosprawnościami.

The above-threshold operation of a Fabry-Perot laser with a nonlinear PT (parity time) mirror is investigated. For the first time, the analysis accounts for gain saturation of an active medium as well as gain and loss saturation effects in the PT mirror. The obtained laser output intensity characteristics have been demonstrated as a function of various PT mirror parameters such as: the ratio of the PT structure period to laser operating wavelength, number of PT mirror primitive cells, and gain and loss saturation intensities of the PT mirror gain and loss layers. Two functional configurations of the laser have been considered: laser operating as a discrete device, and as a component of an integrated circuit. It has been shown that, in general, the laser operation depends on the PT mirror orientation with respect to the active medium of the laser. Moreover, when the laser radiation is outcoupled through the PT mirror to the free space, bistable operation is possible, when losses of the mirror’s loss layer saturate faster than gain of the gain layer. Furthermore, for a given saturation intensity of the mirror loss layers, the increase of the saturation intensity of the mirror gain layers causes increasing output intensity, i.e., the PT mirror additionally amplifies the laser output signal.

Transport jest jednym z najbardziej destrukcyjnych działów gospodarki dla środowiska, z wyjątkiem niektórych rodzajów przemysłu ciężkiego i rolnictwa. Należy dążyć do ograniczenia jego negatywnego wpływu na środowisko. Jednym z działań może być ograniczenie wielkości emisji szkodliwych związków spalin. Do oceny słuszności zaproponowanych zmian można wykorzystać analizy scenariuszowe. W artykule przedstawiona została analiza i ocena wielkości emisji szkodliwych związków spalin w transporcie kolejowym w porównaniu z transportem drogowym. Analizę i ocenę przeprowadzono dla wybranych lat z uwzględnieniem trzech scenariuszy: zwiększenia wielkości potoku ruchu do przewiezienia, zmiany kształtu sieci kolejowej oraz zmiany struktury pojazdów samochodowych. Badania przeprowadzono dla wybranego ciągu komunikacyjnego.
Transport is one of the most destructive sectors of the economy for the environment, with the exception of some types of heavy industry and agriculture. The aim should be to limit its negative impact on the environment. One of the activities can be to limit the emission quantity of harmful compounds of exhaust gas. To assess the rightness of the proposed changes, you can use the scenario analysis. The article presents an analysis and assessment of the emission quantity of harmful exhaust gas compounds in the railway transport in comparison to the road transport. Analysis and assessment were carried out for selected years, taking into account three scenarios: increase of the traffic stream to transport, change of the shape of the rail network and change of the structure of the motor vehicle. The studies were conducted for the selected communication range.
