Opis:
In this paper, global exponential stability of a class of uncertain systems with multiple time delays is investigated. Simple delay-independent criterion is derived to guarantee the global exponential stability of such systems. The main result is sharper than the recent result reported in the literature. Two numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the main result.

Opis:
In this paper, the global exponential stability for a class of uncertain Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy singularly perturbed systems is investigated. Based on time-domain approach with difference inequality technique, a simple criterion is derived to guarantee the global exponential stability of such systems. The upper bound of the singular perturbation parameter is also provided by estimating the unique positive zero of specific function. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the obtained result.

Microwave noise temperature, current, and dissipated power were investigated at room temperature in undoped AlGaN/AlN/GaN channels grown by molecular beam epitaxy and metal-organic compound vapour decomposition techniques. Samples with essentially the same electron density (1×10$\text{}^{13}$ cm$\text{}^{-2}$) and low-field mobility (1150 cm$\text{}^{2}$/(V s)) demonstrated considerably different behaviour at high electric fields. The effective hot-phonon lifetime, 300 fs and 1000 fs, respectively, was estimated for molecular beam epitaxy and metal-organic compound vapour decomposition samples. The expected anti-correlation of hot-phonon lifetime and hot-electron drift velocity was confirmed experimentally.

Opis:
Helicosporidia are gut parasites of invertebrates. These achlorophyllous, non-photosynthetic green algae are the first reported to infect insects. Helicosporidia are members of the green algal class Trebouxiophyceae and are further related to the photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic genera Auxenochlorella and Prototheca, respectively, the latter of which can also turn to parasitism under opportunistic conditions. Molecular analyses suggest that Helicosporidia diverged from other photosynthetic trebouxiophytes less than 200 million years ago and that its adaptation to parasitism is therefore recent. In this minireview, we summarize the current knowledge of helicosporidian genomics. Unlike many well-known parasitic lineages, the Helicosporidium sp. organelle and nuclear genomes have lost surprisingly little in terms of coding content aside from photosynthesis-related genes. While the small size of its nuclear genome compared to other sequenced trebouxiophycean representatives suggests that Helicosporidium is going through a streamlining process, this scenario cannot be ascertained at this stage. Genome expansions and contractions have occurred independently multiple times in the green algae, and the small size of the Helicosporidium genome may reflect a lack of expansion from a lean ancestor state rather than a tendency towards reduction.

Opis:
Subspace-based methods have been effectively used to estimate enhanced speech from noisy speech samples. In the traditional subspace approaches, a critical step is splitting of two invariant subspaces associated with signal and noise via subspace decomposition, which is often performed by singular-value decomposition or eigenvalue decomposition. However, these decomposition algorithms are highly sensitive to the presence of large corruptions, resulting in a large amount of residual noise within enhanced speech in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) situations. In this paper, a joint low-rank and sparse matrix decomposition (JLSMD) based subspace method is proposed for speech enhancement. In the proposed method, we firstly structure the corrupted data as a Toeplitz matrix and estimate its effective rank value for the underlying clean speech matrix. Then the subspace decomposition is performed by means of JLSMD, where the decomposed low-rank part corresponds to enhanced speech and the sparse part corresponds to noise signal, respectively. An extensive set of experiments have been carried out for both of white Gaussian noise and real-world noise. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than conventional methods in many types of strong noise conditions, in terms of yielding less residual noise and lower speech distortion.

Opis:
The emulsified sodium vegetable oleate (ESVO) was prepared with low-cost vegetable oleate. Using ESVO as a collector, the flotation performance of fluorite had been investigated comparing with sodium oleate at a temperature of 20 ± 2 °C. The results of flotation showed that ESVO had better collecting performance than the sodium oleate. The interaction mechanism of these two collectors with fluorite was studied by the zeta potential, FTIR spectra and laser grain-size tests. Both ESVO and sodium oleate changed fluorite zeta potential by electrostatic attraction and chemical adsorption, and generated calcium carboxylate on the fluorite surface. Moreover, it was concluded that higher fluorite recovery was a consequence of ESVO smaller surface tension comparing to sodium oleate.

Opis:
Six silicified left valves including one nearly complete were obtained from acid residues of two samples collected from the Early Carboniferous Muhua Formation in Guizhou Province, China. The Chinese specimens have reticulate ornament and a large asymmetrical aviculopectinid−type resilifer and are much like Girtypecten from Permian rocks in the United States. However, the Chinese material shows only unicostate radial ornament, whereas Girtypecten is multicostate. Thus, a new taxon Girtypecten (Sinopecten) newelli subgen. et sp. nov. is proposed. The conodont assemblage occurring with G. (Sinopecten) newelli dates the new scallop as Tournaisian (the conodont Lower Siphonodella crenulata Zone); this is the oldest known occurrence of Girtypecten.

Opis:
An affine nonlinear autoregressive moving average (NARMA) model is derived from the neural network (NN) based general NARMA model in this paper, by using Taylor series expansion. The predictive error of this affine NARMA model will be quite acceptable, at least for the control purpose, if the amplitude of control input is properly limited. Therefore, an adaptive control scheme based on this model is proposed and applied to the design of adaptive power system stabilizer (APSS) since the amplitude of PSS output is usually well limited. The feature of this control scheme is that the control input can be online analytically obtained. Thus, comparing to the traditional NN based APSS (TAPSS), the affine NARMA model based APSS (AAPSS) does not need the training of a NN as neuro-controller, which may be a troublesome and time consuming step during the design. Moreover, the AAPSS can generally perform better than the TAPSS. Simulation studies on a single machine infinite bus system and a multi-machine system show that the AAPSSs can consistently well perform to damp electromechanical oscillations in the systems over a wide range of operating conditions.

Opis:
With the aim of studying the characteristics of laser-triggered surface flashover in voltage pulse, synchronization problem of laser pulse and voltage pulse should be solved. A single/double harmonic, with wavelength λ of 1064/532 nm, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is used to trigger the surface flashover. The synchronization problem is solved using a self-made digital delay/pulse generator. The delay time and jitter of Marx's trigger input and output, Marx's trigger output and Marx's output, laser input and output are respectively measured. Based on the result of the delay time and the timing sequence of the laser triggering system, the synchronization of laser pulse and voltage pulse is obtained through adjusting the channel delay time of digital delay/pulse generator. In addition, introductory experiment of laser-triggered surface flashover is carried out using the flat electrodes and columned insulators.
