Opis:
The work contains results of observations on the relationship between precipitation and surface runoff and slopewash on the surface plots in UMCS Science Station in Guciów. Observations come from a period of 6 years (2000-2006). Tests were conducted on three plots with typical use of the area. Two plots, with meadow and fallow land, were on the south slope and inclination of 3-5°. The third plot was established in the forest, whose slope was inclined at an angle of 13-18° and east display. Cover of soil in the station area, are eroded podsol soil, with silty sand in the arable layer. Obtained results of the observations were included in the form of regression equations describing the relationship between rainfall during the summer and surface runoff, runoff and slopewash of soil's, rainfall erosivity factor and slopewash.

In this paper, the technical data provided by the sellers of an exercise bike FALCON SG-911B SAPPHIRE have been verified. After dismantling the bike, the dimensions of the components of the transmission of motion were measured and the mass parameters of the flywheel were set. In order to increase the mass moment of inertia reduced to an axis of the crankshaft, construction changes were proposed. The values of the braking torque of the magnetic brake at subsequent resistance levels were measured. The cycling test was performed and the distance, calories burned and heart rate read from the counter were verified computationally.

The present paper describes two compound chondrules labelled panda and chevron, discovered in the Baszkówka meteorite. Optical microscope, electron microscope and electron microprobe studies revealed an unusual mineral composition and fabric. Both chondrules include "primary" and "secondary" components. The panda and chevron chondrules have apparent diameters of ~0.86 and ~0.54 mm respectively with spinel dominant in primary components and olivine-plagioclase in secondary components overlain by thin microcrystalline rims. Euhedral or subhedral Mg, Fe2+/Al, Cr-spinel crystals from the panda's primary component (zoned, cavernous or homogeneous) were not found in Mg-Fe chondrules in Baszkówka, where Cr occurs exclusively as chromite. Olivine crystals from panda's primary (Fa27.1) and secondary (Fa26.5) component have similar compositions to those from panda's rim (Fa26.4) and comparable to olivine from other Baszkówka Mg-Fe chondrules (average ~Fa25.7). The Ca-plagioclase laths from the groundmass of panda's primary component has an extremely variable composition (~An49 to ~An60), evidently more calcic than those in other chondrules of the meteorite (mean ~An13). The primary components of the two spinel-bearing chondrules may have been formed in a fireball generated by powerful impact during early accretion of a protoplanet. After crystallisation the spinel crystals were abraded and polished, probably during rapid flight through a dense cloud of interplanetary dust. The moderately reducing conditions of the hypothetical fire ball were replaced by a more reducing environment during the condensation of the rims of both chondrules.

Opis:
Time evolution of the microphotoluminescence from low-density GaN/$Al_{x}Ga_{1-x}N$ quantum dots grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition using in situ etching of AlGaN is presented. The observed effect is related to the energy changes that begin immediately after sample illumination with the exciting laser light and saturate after some time. Typically, the luminescence energy decreases and the change is exponential with characteristic times in a range between several dozen and several hundred seconds. However, sometimes we observed the energy increase with characteristic times in a range between several and a few hundred seconds. The obtained results are discussed in terms of the metastable change of the electric field, induced by spontaneous polarization present in GaN/AlGaN structure (in the growth direction), and strain- or defect-induced changes of the electric field in the vicinity of the dot.

The Songyuan chondrite is composed mostly of minerals and chondrule types common in equilibrated ordinary chondrites. More distinctively, the Songyuan material includes numerous sintered cryptocrystalline rock lumps, possible chondrule precursors, and less frequent fragments of olivine-pyroxene basalt. The moderate porosity (estimated under the polarizing microscope at a few percent by volume) and un compacted metal grains, suggest that the meteorite came from very shallow horizons of the regolith. The shallow original position of the Songyuan fragment on its parent body is consistent also with the abundance of numerous euhedral crystals of the main meteoritic components present in the interstitial pores. They crystallized most probably from fluids migrating through the superficial horizons from the in ner parts of the Songyuan parent body. The structural characteristics and slight differentiation in olivine composition suggests a high degree of homogenization and, together with the median value of the fayalite content (26.2 š0.24 wt.%), corre sponds to the L5 chemical-petrologic group of equilibrated ordinary chondrites. More over, the homogenous extinction in the olivine crystals and the absence of multiple planar fractures indicate the lowest level of the shock metamorphism (S1), whereas the lack of any oxide rims around kamacite and troilite grains points to the lowest level of weathering (W0).

Opis:
The wavelength of moment of active forces (driving forces) for a full cycle while pedaling with platform pedals was determined. There was defined the value of moment of passive forces, depending on drag, rolling resistance and grade of surface. Kinematic motion parameters were determined from the equation of motion of the machine, which was solved numerically. In numerical example, there were determined and compared the temporal courses of bicycle speed for possible gear ratios for the two different waveforms of the driving torque – the determined, the time-varying and the constant ones. There were compared extreme values of active and passive forces, the kinetic energy of the bike and work expended by the rider at a specified time.

The work analyzed the effect of additional wraps on the number of layers and thus the tightness of the material under protection. It was assumed that all the overlaps of each two consecutive wraps are the same, and each additional wrap causes the same increase of all the tabs. The mechanical properties of the film and its dimensions were taken into account. We have written our own simulation program that allows us to calculate the percentage of a given number of film layers on the side of the bale and the visualization of the distribution of layers in its cross-section. Calculation examples have been provided. Conclusions and suggestions resulting from the obtained simulation results have been formulated.

The paper analyzes a pedaling technique with platform pedals in which the influence of the geometric and tribological parameters on the torque course of the active forces in the crank rotation axis is determined. Distribution of forces of feet acting on pedals as a function of the crank rotation angle was performed and on this basis the specific pedaling zones and their ranges and the courses of the value of variable active torque and pedaling work during the full cycle were determined. The course of changes in the movements in the ankle joint is described with a function depending on the crank and limb position and loading of the joint. A numerical example has also been presented and a discussion of the results has been carried out.

Microphotoluminescence of low-density GaN/Al$\text{}_{x}$Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$N quantum dots grown by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy using in situ etching of AlGaN is presented. The narrow lines in the microphotoluminescence spectra due to the single quantum dots are observed. Both energy and intensity of these lines show temporal fluctuations. Statistical analysis based on the correlation matrix allowed us to identify objects, which are affected by photo-induced electric field fluctuations. Relations between emission lines participating in the spectrum are discussed.

Opis:
Boron nitride layers were grown on sapphire substrate by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy system that was originally designed for growth of GaN. Structures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, the Raman spectroscopy, absorption and time resolved photoluminescence. Presented results confirm successful deposition of BN layers and gives information about basic properties of the material. The Raman line at 1370 cm^{-1} and absorption edges at 5.6-5.9 eV were observed which is related to hexagonal phase.

This paper presents results of the recent plasma-focus (PF) experiments carried out with PF facilities, which was operated at energies ranging from 0.5 MJ to about 1 MJ. Particular attention has been paid to pinch evolution, the emission of pulsed X-ray, fast electron beams, and fusion produced neutrons. Some theoretical models of the initial breakdown, which occurs at the insulator surface, are compared. It is pointed out that modeling of the breakdown is sensitive to kinetics of ionization processes and transport coefficients. Progress in experimental studies of the axial acceleration phase is unsatisfactory. Important experimental data have been collected, but new measurements are still needed. For the radial collapse phase, it was shown that the MHD modeling is efficient until the maximum compression, but plasma instabilities require more sophisticated approaches. The pinch phase was investigated by means of different diagnostics. Fusion neutron yields were measured in different experiments, but some discrepancies in scaling must still be explained. The conclusions concern directions for further studies and optimization of large-scale high-current PF facilities.

We report on the optical experiments performed on low density GaN/AlGaN quantum dots grown on sapphire substrate using SiN during the growth process. The existence of quantum dots in the investigated structures was confirmed by atomic force microscopy. Although macro-luminescence of the investigated structures consist of broad emission lines the micro-photoluminescence experiments performed with the spatial resolution of 0.25 μm revealed sharp emission lines from the individual quantum dot in the energy range of 3.20-3.55 eV. It is shown that the magnetic fields up to 7 T do not influence significantly the electronic states of the dots.
