Opis:
Modern science undergoes enormous changes and transformations. Science 2.0 is a term used to refer to processes, trends, and phenomena related to the use of new technologies, and information and communication technologies in science, in particular tools, services, and online resources. This trend stresses the benefits of increased collaboration and cooperation between researchers and scientists. However, it refers primarily to the consequences of using these technologies. The authors of this volume analyse and discuss some important topics and try to find the answers on current research questions.

“Commission Staff Working Document. Annex II. Results of the public consultation on the EU’s modernisation agenda for higher education” presents “the key findings of the public consultation on the future of the EU’s agenda for the modernisation of higher education systems. The results of the consultation underpin the specific initiatives related to higher education presented in the Skills Agenda and will inform the EU’s future strategy for the modernisation of higher education. […] A second area where skills gaps are highlighted in the consultation responses encompasses the broad fields of Science Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), where many national authorities and stakeholders see a need to strengthen high-level skills provision. In particular, several contributions note a specific need for more ICT specialists and for students across the board to acquire better digital skills” (http://ec.europa.eu/socialmain.jsp?catId=1223&langId=en&moreDocuments=yes, accessed 15 February 2017).

Opis:
The use of new technologies in education implies new teacher roles, new pedagogies and new approaches to teacher education (Makrakis, 2005). The successful integration of ICT into the classroom will depend on the ability of teachers to structure the learning environment in new ways, to merge new technology with new pedagogy, and to develop socially active classrooms, encouraging co-operative interaction, collaborative learning and group work. This requires a different set of classroom management skills. The teaching skills of the future will include the ability to develop innovative ways of using technology to enhance the learning environment, and to encourage technology literacy, knowledge deepening and knowledge creation. Teacher professional learning will be a crucial component of this educational improvement. However, professional learning has an impact only if it is focused on specific changes in teaching (UNESCO, 2011).

The policy goal of the technology literacy approach is to enable learners, citizens, and the workforce to use ICT in order to support social development and to improve economic productivity. Related policy goals include increasing enrolments, making high-quality resources available to everyone, and improving literacy skills. Teachers should be aware of these goals and be able to identify the components of education reform programmes that correspond to these policy goals. Corresponding changes in the curriculum entailed by this approach might include improving basic literacy skills through technology and adding the development of ICT skills into relevant curriculum contexts (UNESCO, 2011).

The theme and the priorities of the IJREL reflect the conceptual principles underlying the modernization of education and the reform of the educational systems in European countries, as well as national development strategies for the 21st century. One of the European Union’s key educational o bjectives is the provision of equal opportunities for all with regard to access to learning and knowledge, regardless of gender, financial and physical ability, and place of residence. That is why distance learning has now been granted a status of high priority. If introduced on a wide scale, distance learning and teaching may make significant contribution towards the achievement of educational goals in member states.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) can help solve the problems connected with forming mathematical competencies in students and are used in the process of teaching mathematics. The first part of the paper presents the theoretical background of the subject matter, including: the description of mathematical competencies and their identification at secondary school in Poland, Niemierko’s taxonomy, the programmed learning theory, and the structure of the system of education/learning in the e-learning environment. It expresses the preconditions, expected results, concepts, objectives, hypotheses, and research methods. The practical part describes the structure of “Mathematics with Moodle,” a system for individual learning based on the original authorial MatLearn module, and its graphic representation. A didactic tool is proposed – an e-learning course preparing students for the school-leaving exam in mathematics and improving students’ mathematical competencies. Its aim is to increase the level of competencies, especially those which have not been mastered yet. In order to construct study activities in the course, the programmed learning principles and Niemierko’s taxonomy were used.

Opis:
The article presents the comparative analysis of the basic principles of programmed teaching, and constructivism for their subsequent use in creating open learning didactics in view of the collaborative approach and collaboration-oriented activities. What is investigated is the fact that the same idea forms the basis of the two paradigms (constructivism and personal learning): the humanistic character of education, taking individual characteristics into account, the activitybased approach, and the collaborative activity of a student. The assumptions about increasing the efficiency of the educational process, based on the ideas of integrative unity of these concepts, are justified. Further development of the personally-oriented approach in terms of such interconnected approaches as e-learning, connectionism, and combined learning is discovered. Simultaneously, programmed teaching – also experiencing its renaissance – can be used effectively and purposefully in educational collaboration in connection with other paradigms.

The article focuses on trends and methods as well as tools used for mapping and visualization of scientific domains as a research methodology which is attracting more and more interest from scientific information and science studies professionals; several factors which have contributed to such developments are also discussed. Science mapping or bibliometric mapping is a spatial repre-sentation of how disciplines, fields, specialties, and individual documents or authors are related to one another (Small, 1999). Different approaches have been developed to extract networks using the selected units of analysis (authors, documents, journals, terms, etc.). Furthermore, the authors looks at the most popular computer programs used for the processing of bibliographic and biblio-metric data.. In addition, plans and activities are presented concerning a comprehensive analysis of IRNet project (www.irnet.us.edu.pl) networking activities and numerous publications, using spe-cial ICT tools and study methods, first of all Pajek and presenting a several examples.

Opis:
This article represents an overview of programmed learning and audiovisual learning. This aim will be achieved through the presentation of the historical stages of the implementation of information technology in educational practice. The concepts of Programmed learning are critically analysed from the behaviorism standpoint, while audiovisual learning concepts are presented from the point of view of Gestalt psychology. The summary of the 20th century European and Russian scientific research in the fields of programmed learning and audiovisual learning leads to the integration of these ideas into the concepts of distance learning, e-learning and blended learning within a life learning strategy.

Opis:
This study presents the research results obtained after the assessment of the digital competences of the pre-service and in-service teachers after their completion of the MOOC “Contemporary ICT Tools and Innovative Methods of Creative Education”. The paper provides a short description of the MOOC, requirements to pass the course and analysis of the learning outcomes through the students’ self-evaluation and feedback. The MOOC was developed in Polish and English within the project “MOOCs for Sciences of Education” and hosted on the Polish MOOCs platform Navoica (www.navoica.pl) within the framework of the competition, initiated by of Ministry of Education and Science of Poland and National Center for Research and Development (NCBR ‒ Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju) on “Direction to the MOOC”. Keeping in mind that Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have developed into a mainstream for universities, education reformers and startup companies, especially in the time of the COVID-19, the study is believed to contribute to the development of the MOOC pedagogy, and address the question of the MOOCs effectiveness for students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction. The experimental MOOC “Contemporary ICT Tools and Innovative Methods of Creative Education”, which was aimed at enhancing teachers’ digital competences, contained 8 modules, and was attended by more than 90 students through its 1st edition in 2020‒2021. The conclusions of the MOOC in focus and overall recommendations on enhancing the MOOCs effectiveness for formal education and learning outcomes have been evaluated based on the research data and provided accordingly. The selected statistical analyses and the data comparisons were made using Wilcoxon’s test at the significance level alpha = 0.05. The normality of the distributions of the studied variables was checked using the Shapiro Wilk test.
W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono wyniki badań uzyskane w wyniku oceny kompetencji cyfrowych nauczycieli przygotowujących i praktykujących po ukończeniu kursu MOOC „Współczesne narzędzia ICT i innowacyjne metody kreatywnej edukacji”. Artykuł zawiera krótki opis MOOC, wymagania do zaliczenia kursu oraz analizę efektów uczenia się poprzez samoocenę i informację zwrotną studentów. MOOC został opracowany w języku polskim i angielskim w ramach projektu „MOOCs for Sciences of Education” i hostowany na polskiej platformie MOOCs Navoica (www.navoica.pl) w ramach konkursu, zainicjowanego przez Ministerstwo Edukacji i Nauki RP oraz Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju (NCBR ‒ Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju) pt. „Kierunek do MOOC”.

The article describes some preliminary results of the implementation of Work-Package 4 (WP4) “Selection and testing new IT tools” in the framework of the international research network (IRNet) and researchers from partner institutions from Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Australia. These results concern analysis and study of some categories of IT tools for making multimedia presentation. All the package period has been divided into 5 main stages. The role of multimedia in teaching is considerable as it offers various formats of presenting information simultaneously. The combination of text, audio, images, animation, video, as well as hyperlinks has an advantage of using both of the two main channels – visual and verbal – for presentation in an efficient way. This paper also discusses the features of effective presentation and examples of computer programs which may be used for this purpose. Authors presented a ranking list based on quality and quantity assessment of chosen IT tools and they proposed some characteristics of good presentation as well as they analyzed frequent mistakes made by users elaborating presentations.
