Opis:
This article presents a literature review about the physical analysis of the loss models, which are used in offdesign procedure for high-pressure turbines. A high-pressure turbine is designed to have maximum performance at design point. However, engines are operating in different conditions, and the comprehension of off-design conditions is very important. The loss mechanisms are very complex and predictions considering empirical methods are a good approach to have preliminary results. Based on these results, different researches have proposed theories about the loss mechanisms, and over the time, these models have been modified to describe better the phenomena involved between blades and flow. Once the physical mechanisms behind the loss models are known, it is possible to compare them and understand the reason why the results given for some methods present a higher agreement to experimental or numerical data. In this framework, 2D numerical simulations of the flow around the blades of an axial high pressure turbine with different off design conditions have been realized, by using ANSYS FLUENT® code, to show the losses described by some of these models. Using these simulations a loss model has been selected and implemented in Matlab® to compare its results with the experimental data found in literature.

Opis:
For a graph $G$, let $ \gamma_R (G)$ and $ \gamma_{r2} (G) $ denote the Roman domination number of $G$ and the 2-rainbow domination number of $G$, respectively. It is known that $ \gamma_{r2} (G) \le \gamma_R(G) \le 3/2 \gamma_{r2} (G) $. Fujita and Furuya [Difference between 2-rainbow domination and Roman domination in graphs, Discrete Appl. Math. 161 (2013) 806-812] present some kind of characterization of the graphs $G$ for which $ \gamma_R (G) − \gamma_{r2} (G) = k $ for some integer $k$. Unfortunately, their result does not lead to an algorithm that allows to recognize these graphs efficiently. We show that for every fixed non-negative integer $k$, the recognition of the connected $ K_4$-free graphs $G$ with $ \gamma_R (G) − \gamma_{r2} (G) = k $ is NP-hard, which implies that there is most likely no good characterization of these graphs. We characterize the graphs $ G $ such that $ \gamma_{r2} (H) = \gamma_R (H) $ for every induced subgraph $ H $ of $ G $, and collect several properties of the graphs $ G $ with $ \gamma_R (G) = 3/2 \gamma_{r2} (G) $.

Opis:
Inonotus rickii (Pat.) Reid is a pathogenic wood-decaying fungus that causes severe decay in several ornamental urban trees in Europe. It has been known to occur on different hosts in Sicily (Italy) since 1985, and in Rome (Italy) since 2003. Some physical and mechanical wood features were studied according to the standards in order to propose an investigation methodology to set a deterioration ranking of urban trees. In this phase of the study, Celtis australis L., Acer negundo L., Acer campestre L., Robinia pseudoacacia L., Tilia × vulgaris Hayne, Ulmus minor Mill., Platanus × acerifolia (Aiton) Willd. and Quercus ilex L. were studied. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and M-ANOVA tests to check the differences among the specimens. A risk matrix was created in order to combine the features that showed statistical differences between the control specimens and the inoculated specimens, in order to establish, in vitro, a degradation ranking among the wood species. The wood species which showed no in vitro durability to I. rickii, were the same ones that displayed susceptibility in the living trees.
