Opis:
An investigation of unsteady hydromagnetic free convection flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an impulsively moving vertical plate with Newtonian surface heating embedded in a porous medium taking into account the effects of Hall current is carried out. The governing partial differential equations are first subjected to the Laplace transformation and then inverted numerically using INVLAP routine of Matlab. The governing partial differential equations are also solved numerically by the Crank-Nicolson implicit finite difference scheme and a comparison has been provided between the two solutions. The numerical solutions for velocity and temperature are plotted graphically whereas the numerical results of skin friction and the Nusselt number are presented in tabular form for various parameters of interest. The present solution in special case is compared with a previously obtained solution and is found to be in excellent agreement.

A novel series of chalconyl vinyl ester based derivatives were designed and synthesized. The newly synthesized compounds were studied for efficacy against several bacteria (E.Coli, P.Aeruginosa, S.Aureus, S.Pyogenus) and fungi (C.Albicans, A.Niger, Clavatus) using the broth dilution technique. Chalcones were prepared by treatment of 4-iodo acetophenone with 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde by Claisen-Schimidt condensation reaction. Various chalconyl vinyl ester derivatives (C1-C8) were prepared by reaction of chalcone with 4-n-alkoxy cinnamic acids derivatives. Compound C8 shows the best bioactive desired antibacterial analogue with less MIC value against different tested strains. All the final synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis.

The process of increasing the sampling rate of any signal by a factor is known as interpolation. This paper presents the effective and efficient implementation of multistage implementation of digital interpolator using half band filters. The single stage filters are efficient for lower order interpolation factors but for higher rate change which is required in modern digital communication systems like wideband code division multiple access, worldwide interoperability for microwave access single stage implementation does not gives efficient response. For these applications a multistage implementation of the interpolator is preferred. But multistage implementation increases complexity of the overall system. This complexity can be reduced considerably by using half band filters. All this has been done with the help of the Agilent's advanced design software.

Size of the cells in developing seed is one of the major factors that regulate yield potentials. Seed of three cotton genotypes, Gossypium hirsutum. L cv (H-4; H-8) G. herbaceum L. cv (G. Cot-15) exhibits variation in their final seed size (large, middle and smaller) were studied for growth and changes in cell wall components during entire period of seed development. High and low molecular weight xyloglucan contents were extracted with 1M and 4M alkali, respectively. Initially the high and low molecular weight xyloglucan contents remained low and increased when cell size stabilized. Changes in esterified and non-esterified pectic substances were also fractionated from the cell wall of developing seed and theirs role in cell elongation phase is discussed. It was observed that bigger seed has higher xyloglucan contents than that of middle and smaller sized seed. Pectic substances were higher during elongation phase in all genotypes. The role of these polysaccharides in sink size development is discussed.

Opis:
The complex permittivity of fresh juice of two cultivars of grapes, Sultania (green grapes) and Black Monukka (black grapes) was measured in terms of the dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor over the frequency range from 1 to 50 GHzand at temperatures ranging from 30 to 60oC, by using the PNA network analyzer model E8364C and open ended coaxial probe 85070E. The Cole-Cole plots and dielectric constant vs. (angular frequency) dielectric loss factor and dielectric constant vs. dielectric loss factor/(angular frequency) regression lines at different temperatures were used in Debye approximation to predict relaxation frequency of molecules for the two cultivars of grapes in the low frequency and high frequency limits, respectively. It was observed that the acidic character of green grapes is responsible for the large amplitude vibrational peaks in dielectric loss factor – frequency curves, in the high frequency region at higher temperatures. On the other hand, excess of sugar in black grapes suppresses the activity of water molecules, thereby suppressing the vibrational peaks at higher frequencies. Different relaxation frequencies found for the two cultivars of grapes suggest that they have different molecular structure.

Opis:
Owing to the ecological requirements and regulations, an enormous concern is being paid to the product re-processing. In the established literature, researchers considered that the remanufactured items are as good as the new ones. Yet, such an assumption is not convenient, as in many real situations the recycled products are considered by the customers to be of secondary quality. Further, the classical studies mainly addressed the inventory models without shortages, and this is not applicable in many practical business situations. This paper extends the reverse logistics inventory models with finite production and remanufacturing rate along with the assumption that newly produced and repaired (remanufactured) objects are not of same characteristics. Shortages are allowed and numerous stock-out cases are discussed. The collected used items are remanufactured (repaired) and non-repaired products are disposed off. The proposed models are illustrated with some numerical examples and their results are discussed.

Opis:
The present work aims at studying the effects of orientation, size, position, and the combination of multiple internal diathermal obstructions in a fluid-saturated square porous enclosure, generally encountered in thermal insulations. The overall objective is to suppress the natural convection fluid flow and heat transfer across a differentially heated porous enclosure. To serve this purpose, multiple diathermal obstructions are employed to mechanically protrude into a porous medium. It is sought to estimate the effect of various types of orientation, clustering and alternate positioning of obstructions by considering number of obstructions (Np), length of obstructions (λ), modified Rayleigh number (Ra*) on local and average Nusselt number (Nu). The Darcy model for porous media is solved using Finite difference method along with Successive Accelerated Replacement scheme. One of the findings is that the value of the Nusselt number decreases by increasing both, the number of obstructions as well as the length of obstructions irrespective of its orientation and positioning. The reduction in Nusselt number is significant with obstructions attached on lower half of the hot wall and/or on upper half of cold wall. In addition, the overall reduction in Nusselt number is slightly greater with obstructions attached explicitly to the cold wall.

In this paper, the performance of single stage and double stage digital interpolators has been compared and has been showed that by using multi stage interpolation system the reliability of any communication system increases drastically. Digital signal interpolation systems can be implemented in a variety of ways. The basic interpolator for up-sampling can be a combination of an expander unit with an interpolation low-pass filter in cascade. Complicated implementations can be done by connecting multiple expander and low-pass filter pairs in cascade. This paper presents the efficient implementation of digital interpolation systems for up-sampling of single stage and double stage digital interpolators by using quadrature phase shift keying technique. Comparison is done in terms of spectrum of generated signal, envelope power, modulated signal trajectory, input and output constellation and noise performance.

Cryptosporidium is a major cause of diarrheal illness mainly in children and immunocompromised adults. Disease severity ranges from asymptomatic or self-limited gastroenteritis to acute or chronic diarrhoea which may be associated with systemic features. Intracellular viruses that reside in many parasites have been incriminated in pathogenesis of diseases like trichomoniasis, leishmaniasis etc. Thus we attempted to detect and quantitate the intracellular viruses in Cryptosporidium isolates and sought to seek a relationship if any, with clinical features. Cryptosporidia in stool samples from immunocompromised patients and children were identified by microscopy and species differentiated by PCR-RFLP of 18s rRNA; further subgenotyped by sequencing of GP60 region. Copy number of dsRNA virus and 18srRNA was calculated in 56 Cryptosporidium isolates (39 C. hominis and 17 C. parvum). Viral copy number per oocyst was calculated as ratio of dsRNA virus copy number to 18s rRNA copy number. Viruses were detected in all the isolates. Mean CSpV/RNA ratio was 0.17±0.4 for C. hominis isolates compared with 0.12±0.11 for C. parvum isolates, however this difference was not statistically significant. Similarly no association of diarrhoea, vomiting, cough and fever was found with either CSpV copy number or with CSpV/rRNA ratio.

Opis:
This paper presents the development and application of simulation models for proton and carbon irradiated 4H-SiC junction barrier Schottky (JBS) diodes. Commercial JBS diode chips were irradiated to the identical depth with different doses of hydrogen and carbon ions. The resulting defects were then identified by deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS). Comprehensive I-V and C-V measurement performed prior to and after ion irradiation was used for calibration of simulation models. Results show that compared to protons, heavier carbon ions introduce more defects with deeper levels in the SiC bandgap and more stable damage. For the first time, the free carrier concentration profile extracted from CV simulations for irradiated JBS diode has been compared with experimental data. The simulation of irradiated JBS diodes exhibit excellent matching with experimental data and can be very useful for the optimization of SiC power devices. Furthermore, it is shown that the developed model can be used for prediction of the effect of ion irradiation on both the static and dynamic characteristic of PiN diode.

The growing need of ocean surveying and exploration for scientific and industrial application has led to the requirement of routing strategies for ocean vehicles which are optimal in nature. Most of the op-timal path planning for marine vehicles had been conducted offline in a self-made environment. This paper takes into account a practical marine environment, i.e. Portsmouth Harbour, for finding an optimal path in terms of computational time between source and end points on a real time map for an USV. The current study makes use of a grid map generated from original and uses a Dijkstra algorithm to find the shortest path for a single USV. In order to benchmark the study, a path planning study using a well-known local path planning method artificial path planning (APF) has been conducted in a real time marine environment and effectiveness is measured in terms of path length and computational time.
