Tomatoes reportedly have a positive response to seed priming. The present study evaluates the effects of ethanol priming on germination, seedling vigour and antioxidative responses of tomato seeds. Priming was achieved by exposing seeds of ‘Roma’ and ‘Nagina’ to 2, 4 and 6% aerated ethanol solutions for 24 h. Priming with low levels (2 and 4%) of ethanol improved seed germination, seedling vigour and enhanced antioxidative activity that results in better performance of tomato seeds. However, priming with 6% ethanol failed to improve seed germination and seedling development which relates to the decreased anti-oxidative activity in tomato seeds due to high ethanol level.
Uważa się, że pomidory wykazują pozytywną reakcję na pobudzanie nasion. Niniejsze badanie ocenia wpływ pobudzania etanolem na kiełkowanie, żywotność siewek oraz antyoksydacyjne reakcje nasion pomidora. Pobudzanie osiągnięto działając na nasiona odmian ‘Roma” i „Nagina” 2, 4 i 6% napowietrzonymi roztworami etanoli przez 24 godziny. Pobudzanie za pomocą niskich poziomów (2 i 4%) etanolu poprawiało kiełkowanie nasion, żywotność siewek oraz wzmagało aktywność antyoksydacyjną, która daje lepsze wyniki w odniesieniu do nasion pomidora. Jednak pobudzanie 6% etanolem nie polepszyło kiełkowania nasion ani rozwoju siewek, co ma związek z obniżoną aktywnością antyoksydacyjną u nasion pomidora ze względu na wysoki poziom etanolu.

Opis:
Electrical characteristics of the heterojunction fabricated by thermal deposition of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) on an n-silicon substrate have been investigated. The frequency has significant effect on capacitance (C), conductance (G) and series resistance $(R_{s})$ interface states $(D_{it})$ of the junction. Measured capacitance and conductance were corrected for $R_{s}$. The conductance technique was used to measure the density of the interface states. This method revealed the value of the interface state density distribution for the Au/n-Si/CuPc/Au interfaces of the order of $10^{12} cm^{-2} eV^{-1}$.

Opis:
The synthesis of a novel xanthene derivatives bearing dimedone as an excellent precursor has been achieved by applying one pot three component Hantzsch type condensation. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectral and elemental analyses. All synthesized compounds undergo docking studies and biological screening for antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and fungal species. Among all the tested compounds, it was found that compound 3c, 3d, 3g and 3h revealed better activities against the Gram-positive rather than the Gram-negative bacteria whereas results of docking studies revealed that compounds 3b, 3g and 3i showed best binding affinity towards ATP binding pocket of Human PIM1 kinase receptor through steric favorable and H-bond interactions.

Opis:
Series of 2-mercapto-4-(p-aminophenylsulphonylamino)-6-(aryl)-pyrimidine-5-carboxamide Aa-h were synthesized via the biginelli condensation. 2-mercapto-4-amino-6-(aryl)-pyrimidine-5-carboxamide react with p-acetamidophenylsulphonylchloride in the presence of pyridine 2 to form 2-mercapto-4-(p-acetamidophenylsulphonylamino)-6-(aryl)-pyrimidine-5-carboxamide 3. It was treated with diluted HCl under reflux afforded 2-mercapto-4-(p-aminophenylsulphonylamino)-6-(aryl)-pyrimidine-5-carboxamide A a-h. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, infrared (IR), 1H NMR and 13 C NMR spectroscopic investigation.

Opis:
Umbilical hernia is one of the most common problems in young calves. This problem occurs in dairy sector as well as in the local farmers. Present study was conducted to compare outcomes of four different techniques of herniorrhaphy. Twenty four young calves (n=24) were divided in 4 groups (A, B, C, and D) which underwent four different surgical techniques. Group A underwent vicryl plus suture material and pants-over-west technique, Group B underwent mesh application with Dexon suture material by using simple interrupted suture pattern, Group C underwent closed method with Nylon No. 3 suture material by using vertical mattress suture pattern and Group D underwent clamp application method with Silk No. 2 suture material by using simple interrupted suture pattern. The result showed that mesh application method was comparatively better with respect to feed intake, body weight gain and healing time. There was no reoccurrence with non-significant hematological changes (p≤0.05). It is concluded that mesh application method is safer than other three techniques and there are no systemic effects of this surgical intervention on calves’ health.

The key advantages of this process are high yields, shorter reaction times, easy work-up, and purification of products by non-chromatographic method.

1,5-benzodiazepines have been synthesized by Nano Zirconia and Nano Sulfated Zirconia in solvent free conditions. Synthesis was carried out by conventional as well as microwave method. Benzodiazepines were synthesized by reacting o-phenylenediamine and few ketones in the presence of catalytic amount of Nanoparticles. Particles used were sized in between 53-100 nm. Nanoparticles were characterized by FT-IR, DLS and powder XRD analysis.

With Growing Concerns About Voltage Profile And Power Factor At Distribution Networks, The Capacitor Banks Are Invariably Installed For Reactive Power Compensation. The Reactive Power Supplied By Capacitor Banks Is Proportional To Square Of Their Rated Loading Voltage. Capacitor Banks Eventually Increase The Loading Capacity Of Feeders, So As To Supply More Customers Through Same Line Section. Capacitor Banks Can Be Installed Anywhere On The Network. The Idea Of This Paper Is To Reduce Total Power Loss And Ensure Greater Availability Of Capacitor Bank Installed At 132 Kv Grid Station Qasimabad Hyderabad, For Reactive Power Compensation, Even Under Worst Conditions On Distribution System. This Is Achieved By Enhancing Its Location And Size. At Present Capacitor Bank Of Full Size, I.E. Of 1.21 Mvar Is Installed At 11 Kv Bus Of 132 Kv Grid Station Qasimabad Hyderabad. Moreover This Paper Suggests Small Sized Capacitor Banks That Would Be Installed At Different Feeders Instead Of One Large Size Capacitor Bank At 11 Kv Bus. The Voltage Profile And Power Losses With Present Sized Capacitor Bank And The Proposed Small Sized Capacitor Banks Are Compared In This Work. The Distribution Network Has Been Simulated By Using MATLAB .

Opis:
The aim of the present work was to assess an eco friendly natural antimicrobial textile finish extracted from Aloe gel and Neem plants. Extracted Aloe gel and active substance of Neem were mixed in a mordant to form a finish. Bleached cotton samples were treated with 5, 7, and 10% concentrations of Aloe gel and Neem separately. The same samples were then treated with a hybrid combination of Aloe gel and Neem (HCAN) extracts having 5, 7 and 10% concentrations. These finished samples were subjected to an antibacterial activity test against E. coli and S. aureus, an antifungal activity test against Aspergillus Niger, and a test of their durability of antibacterial finish fastness to washing by standard test methods. It was found that the hybrid combination of Aloe gel and Neem (HCAN) was an effective antibacterial and antifungal agent as compared to Aloe gel and Neem separately. It also showed good durability to washing.
Ekstrakty z żelu aloesowego i aktywnych substancji miodli indyjskiej mieszano w zaprawie barwiarskiej dla uzyskania gotowej preparacji. Bielone bawełniane próbki nasycano roztworem o stężeniu 5%, 7% i 10% żelu aloesowego i miodli indyjskiej. Te same próbki były następnie nasycane preparacją hybrydową zawierającą obydwa składniki o tym samym stężeniu. Uzyskane próbki poddano badaniom antybakteryjnym przeprowadzając testy przeciwko E. coli i S. aureus, i antygrzybicznej aktywności przeciwko Aspergillus niger. Niezależnie od tego przeprowadzano próby trwałości preparacji antybakteryjnych po praniu w standardowych warunkach. Stwierdzono, że preparacja hybrydowa obydwu składników była aktywniejsza zarówno w stosunku do bakterii i grzybów niż preparacje z użyciem jednego tylko składnika.
