Opis:
Water pollution in rivers is still a crucial problem for the countries that use river water as the primary water source. This study aimed to determine the water quality of the Musi river and the content of heavy metals in water, sediment and mussels as well as to predict the water quality of the Musi river in the next five years. The water samples were taken from 18 stations (sampling points) from upstream to downstream to be checked physically, chemically and biologically. Prediction of the river water quality was made using the QUAL2Kw software. The research results show that the Musi River water is categorized as lightly polluted with concentrations of TSS and DO that have passed the threshold. The heavy metals in river water, such as Pb and Cr have also passed the quality standard. The Fe, Mn, and Zn concentrations are pretty high in the sediment. In turn, in mussels, the metals measured were Fe, Cu, and Zn. The prediction results reveal that several values of the river quality parameters will pass the threshold value with the same pattern tendency from each station.

Opis:
The presence of CO2 in the syngas is attracting more attention in terms of reducing the greenhouse gas emissions in its utilisation. The aim of this study was to purify syngas from the CO2 content of fine coal gasification. Fine coal is gasified with and without absorption using CaO, which is hydrated to Ca(OH) 2 in the modified updraft gasifier at 450–700 °C. Apart from investigating the CO2 absorption process, the gasification process also evaluates the influence of temperature in terms of its synergy with Ca(OH) 2. The best conditions for the gasification process are achieved at 700 °C. The content of CO2 was proven to be well absorbed, which is characterised by a decrease in the CO2 content and an increase in H2 in syngas. After the absorption process, the H2 content obtained increased from 42.6 mole% to 48.8 mole% of H2 at 700°C. The H2 ratio also increased after absorption to 2.57 from the previous value of 2.23. The highest absorption efficiency of CO2 by Ca(OH) 2 occurred at 700°C at 50.63%. With an increase in temperature in the gasification process with absorption, the CO2 content decreased dramatically from 16.9 mole% to 3.9%. Ca(OH) 2 has good absorption power at CO2 at high temperatures.

Opis:
The utilisation of fine coal waste is still limited, even though its availability is very abundant in the mining industry. This study utilises fine coal by converting it into syngas through catalytic gasification. The gasification process was carried out at a temperature range of 350–550°C for 10–50 minutes using natural zeolite as a catalyst. The syngas composition and quality parameters were evaluated through the H2/CO ratio, heating value, and gasification efficiency. From the research results, fine coal contained high amounts of carbon and fixed carbon. Temperature is the variable that most influences the gasification process. The addition of zeolite actively increased the CO content in the syngas. The H2/CO ratio of syngas >1, the highest HHV and LHV 16.15 and 14.46 MJ/Nm3 with the highest carbon conversion efficiency value of 88.85%, made fine coal very suitable to be used as raw material for the gasification process to produce environmentally friendly syngas.

Opis:
This present study contribute to provide a simple technology to early detect the phenomenon of spontaneous coal combustion. A new prototype is designated to detect the CO gas formation as a product of initial coal oxidation. Moreover, several parameters including coal quality, coal weight sample, ambient temperature, and air flow were employed to investigate the effects of each parameter to the CO formation time. The results show that the coal characterisation have a significant effect in the CO formation time where the coal having a higher fixed carbon and high grass calorific values provide the high liability of spontaneous coal combustion. However, these finding only occurred in low weight sample where in the high coal weight sample only fixed carbon plays the main role in determining the CO formation time. Furthermore, the prototype ambient temperature become the important parameter in the boosting of CO formation time where airflow only enhance the CO formation time in low temperature condition (below 29°C). Moreover, these findings opens a new sight in coal management, especially in Indonesia, where controlling the coal and atmosphere temperature could effectively prevent the spontaneous coal combustion especially in coal stockpile. Nevertheless, the other factor including airflow and coal weight sample also need perfect controlling because all of these factors potentially create a perfect environment to combust the coal spontaneously.

This study successfully synthesized a core-shell-shell in the form of $CoFe_2O_4-SiO_2-TiO_2$ catalyst magnetic and recyclable. The catalyst was employed for the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye. Subsequently, the catalyst was subjected to XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDS, VSM, as well as UV-DRS characterizations. The photocatalytic degradation was studied as a function of the solution pH, MO concentration, and irradiation time, while the kinetics of photocatalytic degradation and the catalyst reusability were also evaluated. On the basis of the XRD, FTIR, and SEM-EDS characterizations, the $CoFe_2O_4$ coating was successfully carried out using $SiO_2$ and $TiO_2$. $CoFe_2O_4-SiO_2-TiO_2$ was discovered to possess magnetic properties with a saturation magnetization of 17.59 emu/g and a bandgap value of 2.4 eV. The photocatalytic degradation of MO followed the Langmuir-Hishelwood model. The optimum degradation was obtained at the MO concentration of 25 mg/L, solution pH of 4, catalyst dose of 0.05 g/L, irradiation time of 160 minutes, MO removal efficiency achieved 93.46%. The regeneration study showed $CoFe_2O_4-SiO_2-TiO_2$ after 5 cycles were able to catalyze the photocatalytic degradation with an MO removal efficiency of 89.96%.

Opis:
Lightning is one of the causes of transmission disorders and natural phenomena that cannot be avoided. The South Sulawesi region is located close to the equator and has a high lightning density. This condition results in lightning susceptibility of distur- bances to electrical system lines, especially in high-voltage airlines and substations. An Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) will show the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) based on the membership function type. This journal is to predict the value of the transmission tower lightning density using the ANFIS method. The value of the lightning strike density index can later be determined based on ANFIS predictions. Analysis of the value calculation system of structural lightning strikes in the South Sulawesi region of the Sungguminasa-Tallasa route can be categorized as three characteristics lightning density (Nd). The calculation system results for the value of structural lightning struck in the South Sulawesi region and validated between manual calculations and ANFIS with an average percentage of 0.0554%.

Introduction. Inflammatory response in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) begins with chronic sub-clinical inflammations as a result of insulin resistance and activation of both innate and adaptive immune system as the disease progresses to complicated diabetes. Hence, the present study investigated the neutrophil phagocytic, complement function (CH50), and some cytokine profiles among diabetic and non-diabetic patients attending the National Hospital in Abuja, Nigeria. Aim. To evaluate the neutrophil phagocytic, complement function (CH50), and some cytokine profiles among post-operative septic diabetic and post-operative septic non-diabetic patients at the National Hospital in Abuja, Nigeria. Material and methods. Subjects were recruited by convenient sampling technique through interviewer-administered questionnaires. Subsequently, blood samples were collected. Fasting blood sugar (FBS) (mmol/L) was determined using glucose oxidase method. Neutrophil function test (Fmol/phag) was assayed using nitroblue tetrazolium reduction test (NBT). Hemolytic complement function (CH 50) test was conducted using serum harvested from sheep sensitized with human group (ORh D +ve) red blood cells. While serum Interleukin-4, -6, -10 and TNF- α were determined using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Results. Mean ± Standard deviation (SD) of FBS concentration of 10.5 ± 1.3 (mmol/|L) among diabetic and 4.7 ± 0.9 (mmol/L) among non-diabetics was recorded. There is a decrease in neutrophil phagocytic function with a mean ± SD of 5.4 ± 2.1 (Fmol/ phag) in diabetics compared to 9.2 ± 2.1 (Fmol/phag) in non-diabetics. Similarly, complement (CH 50) function and C-reactive protein were significantly lower in diabetics when compared to non-diabetics (p<0.001). There was a significant difference in IL-6 concentration between diabetics and non-diabetics groups, but no significant difference was observed in TNF-α, IL-4 and IL-10 concentrations between study groups (p>0.05). TNF-α and IL-6 was significantly higher in diabetics with cardiovascular disorders compared to non-diabetics subjects with cardiovascular disorders (p<0.001). Conclusion. Findings from this study revealed the association of complement, neutrophil phagocytic function, CRP and IL-6 among septic diabetic patients,. In addition TNF-α and IL-6 expression was higher in DM patients with cardiovascular disorders.
