Opis:: The far-infrared photoconductivity due to shallow donors was measured in semi-insulating GaAs for different states of the EL2 defect - normal, metastable, and during the transition - with and without hydrostatic pressure. The results show that the intra-donor transition line broadening observed previously after transferring the EL2 to the metastable configuration cannot be due to lattice distortion effects, and can only be explained in terms of a spatial correlation of charged EL2(+) and acceptor A(-) states, which form electric dipoles.

Opis:: The far-infrared photoconductivity of a semi-insulating GaAs sample was measured at 4.2 K as a function of magnetic field up to 7 T. Apart from a peak corresponding to the 1s - 2p$\text{}_{+1}$ transition of the hydrogen-like shallow donor, a well-pronounced structure was observed which does not appear in n-type GaAs.

Opis:: The paper concerns investigations of shallow centres in semi-insulating (SI) GaAs samples. A very sensitive measuring method - magnetophotoconductivity due to intra-shallow-donor transitions - was used. We report the behaviour of intra-impurity transitions as well as an additional structure in low magnetic fields for different far-infrared wavelengths (70.6 μm, 96.5 μm, 118.8 μm, 163 µm). The results are discussed in terms of a fluctuating potential from ionized centres in SI GaAs. The physical mechanism responsible for the low magnetic field structure is proposed.

Opis:: This paper presents investigations of the base concrete surface in concrete floors by means of a 3D scanner. Two base concrete surfaces, differing in their preparation, were investigated.
W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono badania topografii (chropowatości 3D) powierzchni warstwy konstrukcyjnej podłóg betonowych za pomocą metody powierzchniowej. W tym celu wykorzystano optyczny skaner współrzędnościowy oraz opracowane oprogramowanie do analizy wyników pomiarów. Badaniom poddano dwie warstwy konstrukcyjne ze zróżnicowanym sposobem przygotowania warstwy konstrukcyjnej. W algorytmach obliczeniowych wykorzystano obowiązujące zależności dla wyznaczania poszczególnych parametrów 3D opisujących charakter badanych powierzchni.

Opis:: The paper reports on investigations of dense magnetized plasmas produced within a modernized PF-360 facility, which was operated with an additional planar cryogenic target placed in the front of the electrode outlet and covered with D2O-ice layers. The main aim of these studies was to overcome the neutron saturation effect and to increase the maximum neutron yield from PF discharges by using fast deuteron beams. Such beams are usually emitted from a pinch region and can produce fast neutrons from D-D reactions during their interactions with the additional target.

Opis:: A PF-1000 facility was operated for the first time at an energy level of up to 1 MJ. The maximal emission of 2×1011 neutrons/shot was registered. Relatively low emission anisotropy was observed. Fast ion beams were generated only from shots performed at a low filling pressure (1-2 Torr).

Opis:: The long-range passive towed sonar was first modernised a few years ago. Building on operator experience over that period, a concept was developed of optimising the tasks performed by sonar operators, and improving forms of imaging to inform about object detection and support object tracking. The concept was implemented and successfully tested during ships’ manoeuvres. The optimisation of operator tasks was designed to keep listening for signals from an object separate from object tracking. Operator tasks have been made easier by rearranging the imaging, improving interaction between monitors, extending the navigation imagery module, adding new tools for building an acoustic database of potential targets; and improving the recording, browsing and playback of key recorded data. The article gives a more detailed account of the project and its results.

Opis:: The paper describes a new technique which has been investigated in order to overcome the neutron saturation effect and to increase the neutron yield from the plasma-focus (PF) discharges [1]. The PF-360 experimental facility was constructed at the Andrzej Soltan Institute for Nuclear Studies (IPJ) in Swierk, Poland in the late 70s [4, 5]. Recently in order to improve the neutron yield from the PF-360 machine, it was proposed to use a cryogenic deuterium target, which might be placed within the plasma-focus region. For this purpose, we have been made a needle-like cryogenic target covered with a thin „heavy-ice“ layer. A considerable increase in the average neutron yield (from 1.7×1010 to about 2.2×1010 neutrons/shot) has been achieved for 122 kJ PF discharges when the needle target top was placed at a distance of about 100 mm from the electrode ends.

Opis:: The paper presents examinations of the surface of base concrete with a 3D scanner. Two base concrete surfaces, differently prepared, were examined, together with two measurement strategies: simple and fast 3D scanning and partial scanning in selected areas corresponding to the device measurement space. In order to complete the analysis of a concrete surface topography an original Matlab-based program TAS (Topography Analysis and Simulation) was developed for both 2D and 3D surface analyses. It enables data processing, calculation of parameters, data visualization and digital filtration.
