Opis:
The paper presents results of studies concerning the designation of COD fraction in the raw wastewater. The test object was open intercepting sewer of Zielona Góra. Methodology for determining the COD fraction was based on the guidelines ATV- A 131. The real concentration of fractions in raw wastewater and the percentage of each fraction in total COD are different from data reported in the literature. The processes occurring in an open interceptor are also influenced by external factors. The most important of them are the ambient temperature and the extent of solar exposure. The changing temperature influences solubility of oxygen and activity of microorganisms. Open space and cascade arrangement of the interceptor decrease the probability of oxygen-free environment. In this case, the dominating significance in the decomposition of organic compounds is to be ascribed to oxygen processes.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań zmian charakterystyki ścieków surowych dopływających do oczyszczalni ścieków kanałem otwartym.

Opis:
The solar radio burst type II on 4th November 2015 was associated with minor CME that not lead towards the Earth. This clear type II burst recorded on spectrographs detected by the antenna in several locations (Gauri, Almaty, Kasi and Ooty) were obtained from CALLISTO website. The average time of the burst occurred are around 03:24 UT until 03:28 UT with the clear minor CME emerged recorded by SOHO at 03:12 UT. Although it just a minor CME but it is still giving the effect on Earth as it contributes to geomagnetic disturbance on the Earth during that day. The affected region reported by The Local news is Sweden, where the radar system for aviation was not clear, but it is back to normal after a few hours later. This geomagnetic disturbance is powerful enough that may cause the satellite damage, endanger astronauts and produce destructive surges on power grids.

On 16th March 2016 the solar radio burst type II is recorded to appear on spectrograph after the type III formation. These two bursts related to the Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) event that recorded by the SOHO spacecraft several minutes before the formation of Type III on the spectrograph. It has been reported that the Type III burst a fast drift compared to the Type II burst. In this paper, the calculation has been proved that the type III burst has a higher drift rate compared to Type II. These two events of Type II and III burst also has been contributing to the formation of C class flare with magnitude of C2.2 It is also proven that the type III burst has a fast drift rate compared to type II burst. In this case, the type III has a fast drift rate of 81% compared to the type II burst. During this event, the active region AR 12522 erupted the C-class X-ray emission with magnitude of C2.2 contribute to these type III and II burst

Opis:
A numerical method is presented for evaluation of the radial diffusion coefficient, based on the full orbit modelling of particle orbits in the tokamak geometry. The code solves the full orbit equations of motion for a set of test particles in an arbitrary equilibrium magnetic field. The effect of Coulomb collisions of test ions with background plasma particles is simulated by means of an equivalent Monte Carlo collision operator which scatters the pitch angle as well as the gyrophase of the particle. The radial diffusion coefficient is estimated by calculating the temporal dependence of the mean-square displacement of an ensemble of monoenergetic test particles. As an illustration of the method the effect of magnetic islands on the impurity collisional transport is studied. It is shown that in presence of m = 2, n = 1 resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) the diffusion coefficient for the tungsten ions (W28+, E = 1 keV) can increase by a factor of 5-10.

Opis:
Results of positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) and microscopic studies on simple microorganisms, brewing yeasts, are presented. Lifetime of ortho-positronium (o-Ps) were found to change from 2.4 to 2.9 ns (longer-lived component) for lyophilized and aqueous yeasts, respectively. Also hygroscopicity of yeasts in time was examined, allowing to check how water – the main component of the cell – affects PALS parameters, thus lifetime of o-Ps were found to change from 1.2 to 1.4 ns (shorter-lived component) for the dried yeasts. The time sufficient to hydrate the cells was found below 10 hours. In the presence of liquid water, an indication of reorganization of yeast in the molecular scale was observed. Microscopic images of the lyophilized, dried, and wet yeasts with best possible resolution were obtained using inverted microscopy (IM) and environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) methods. As a result, visible changes to the surface of the cell me mbrane were observed in ESEM images.

Opis:
The paper deals with the structural diversity and production of a less frequently studied type of alder stands originated on former agricultural lands in the 1950s, established partly by plantation and partly by natural succession in the area of the Krkonoše Mts. and the Orlické hory Mts. (Czech Republic). Four permanent research plots (PRP) were established at sites where Black alder (Alnus glutinosa L. Gaertn.) and Grey alder (Alnus incana L. Moench.) naturally occurs, each plot of 0.25 ha in size. The aim of the study was to evaluate the structure and development of the alder stands with respect to biodiversity, horizontal, vertical and species structure, diameter increment with emphasis on climate factors, and the quantity and quality of timber production. The results document low diversification of the studied stands in the PRPs. The horizontal structure is defined as random and clumped at sites at the highest altitude with high water table. The number of living trees with DBH ≥ 4 cm ranges between 556 to 828 trees ha-1 with the relative stand density index (SDI) 0.67–0.77. The stand volume ranges from 247 to 393 m3 ha–1, and decreases with higher altitudes. Low temperatures is limiting factor for radial growth in the high mountain areas, respectively low precipitation in the middle lands. Owing to a rather specific site character, as especially the spring area, the stands exhibit only average production, but the production quality is generally high. The quality timber is suitable for industrial use; the rot-affected trunk base parts usable for fuel represent only approximately 16%.

Opis:
Water represents an essential element for life and living things on earth. Aquatic ecosystems play a decisive role in the socio-economic development in urban and rural areas. In recent decades, there has been concern at the global level with regard to the deterioration of aquatic ecosystems due to the pollution, which is a product of mainly anthropogenic activity. Heavy metals pollution is worrisome for the ecological balance of the aquatic environment, affecting a variety of organisms. Therefore, the objective of this paper was to characterize the quality of water in the Lepenci River basin, to express heavy metals concentration, and to determine the surface water quality index in this basin. In order to achieve such an objective, water samples were collected at eight stations for analyzing the concentrations for heavy metals. Heavy metals were determined by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometry. A good correlation was found between Pb and Zn (r = 0.84), whereas the average negative correlation coefficient was shown between Mn and Cr (r = -0.6513). The heavy metals concentrations varied from 0.0092 to 0.1135 mg/L.The mean concentrations of heavy metals found in the river water were in the order of: Mn > Fe > Pb > Ni > Cd > Zn > Cr > Cu. The Water Quality Index varied from 57 to 81, with the average value of WQI = 68.1250, which ranks the surface water of this basin as fair. From the results we have concluded that the Lepenci River waters during the monitoring period have had low pollution from heavy metals.

Varying forms of solar radio burst were classified by their frequent changes in time, which are known as drift rate. There are 5 types of radio emission were named type I, II, III, IV and V. This paper is highlighted on the type III event which occurred on 27th August 2015. In the IP medium, type III solar radio burst can be classified in three different groups which representing three different situations of electron beam production and propagation which are isolated, complex and storm type III burst. The most powerful manifestation of solar activity is solar flare together with coronal mass ejections, eruptive prominences and the solar wind are the solar events which affect the earth's atmosphere and can cause geomagnetic disturbance. In this study, the effect of M class flare with solar radio burst type III was investigated. During the day, the solar wind proton density seems to be high which is 8.4 protons/cm3 and accompanied by normal solar wind speed of 348.7 km/Sec. Spaceweather.com reported that there is one sunspot was detected (AR2403) and M class of the flare was detected during the day at 0544 UT. The data geomagnetic signal shows that during the day only geomagnetic disturbance that occur no such geomagnetic storm since the sunspot not facing the earth directly.
