Opis:: The aim of the measurements was to assess the usefulness of the GPR technique in winter in engineering projects, particularly in determining the location of underground infrastructure, such as sanitary and gas installations as well as power and telecommunication cables. The article presents and discusses the results of the measurements performed in a developed area. The use of GPR was assessed based on the identification of installation system elements as well as the comparison between their actual position and their location according to a geodesic plan. GPR should be considered as a valuable tool during the repair of sanitary, gas or other types of networks as it allows to precisely determine the location of a given network in the subsurface layer, and thus prevent possible failures.

Opis:: In this paper a new way of derivation of an evolution equation for short pulses in a dielectric waveguide including one model of a metamaterial waveguide is shown. This derivation model relies upon projecting to an orthogonal basis. In our case such orthogonal basis for cylindrical waveguides is chosen as Bessel functions.

Opis:: Prace podzielić można na dwa zagadnienia. Pierwsze zawiera analizę literaturową, na podstawie której autorzy przedstawili historię endoprotezoplastyki stawu biodrowego oraz przygotowali podział i charakterystykę stosowanych w praktyce lekarskiej endoprotez stawu biodrowego. Druga cześć pracy przedstawia wyniki badań własnych nad modyfikacją warstwy wierzchniej polietylenu o ultrawysokiej masie cząsteczkowej stosowanego na komponenty panewkowe. Zastosowana modyfikacja polegała na implantacji powierzchni próbek polietylenowych jonami Ar, B, C lub na wzmocnieniu jej siatką z włókien ze stali nierdzewne
The paper consists of two parts. The first is a literature analysis basing on which the authors have presented the history of hip endoprosthesis making and a characteristics of the hip endoprostheses used in medical practice. The other part of the work presents the results of the Institute's own investigation concerning the modification of the surface layer of a ultra high molecular weight polyethylene used for the acetabulum component. The modification applied consisted in implantation of polyethylene sample surfaces with Ar, B, C ions or its reinforcement with a network of stainless steel fibres.

Opis:: A set of oxygen deficient powder and granular samples of YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$ ceramics was studied by means of thermogravimetric and magnetically modulated microwave absorption methods. Especially the last method has turned out to be a powerful method, which was used to determine the dependence of critical temperature T$\text{}_{c}$ on the oxygen parameterδ. Using these methods it has been shown that the removing of oxygen evokes the inhomogeneous oxygen distribution in the samples and a change in carrier concentration till to the loss of superconducting properties. A superconducting phase with T$\text{}_{c}$=60 K, which occurs in oxygen deficient YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$ sample, is an unstable phase.

Opis:: Many iterative methods for the solution of linear discrete ill-posed problems with a large matrix require the computed approximate solutions to be orthogonal to the null space of the matrix. We show that when the desired solution is not smooth, it may be possible to determine meaningful approximate solutions with less computational work by not imposing this orthogonality condition.
