Opis:
Group signature schemes play a vital role in protecting identity privacy of a member of a group who signs a message using the group signature. However, in the existing group signature schemes the centralized group manager has control over all the participants, and these managers can be malicious. They may take a biased decision when there is a dispute among the group members or while revealing the identity of a group member. To overcome the trust issues related to centralized group managers and to improve user privacy, a decentralized group signature scheme (DGSS) is proposed by decentralizing the role of the group manager. The proposed scheme will be more suitable for decentralized environments like a blockchain. Security analysis along with the proof of correctness is also provided for the proposed scheme. A framework for a blockchain-based e-auction protocol using the DGSS is also proposed in this paper.

Opis:
The issue of ORPD (Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch) for enhancing security and economy of a power system has been given substantial consideration in recent days. The major inspiration behind deploying an ORPD system for enhancing power system efficiency is to reallocate the RP (reactive power) in such a manner that power loss be minimized, and voltage profiles get enhanced. Hence, this paper concerns the major objectives, namely, reduction of power loss and voltage deviation that are related to solving ORPD problem under unbalanced condition. To attain these objectives, an amalgamation of two algorithms, called CS (Cuckoo Search) and GWSO (Glow Worm Swarm), is adopted for optimizing, and hence the proposed model is referred to as CP-GWSO. This algorithm functions with the control parameters, namely load reactance, voltage and transformer tap settings that are tuned to attain the optimum outcome. The entire empirical part of the investigations is performed on two IEEE standard test bus systems, the IEEE 14 and the IEEE 39 bus systems. Finally, the proposed scheme is compared to the conventional methods, and its efficiency is confirmed.

Opis:
A Kelvin-Voigt model consisting of a spring and a dashpot in parallel was applied for the viscoelastic characterization of solid rocket propellants. Suitable values of spring constants and damping coefficients were employed by a least squares fit of the errors to generate creep curves using a Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA) for composite solid propellants. Three different composite propellant formulations based on HTPB/AP/Al having burning rates of 5 mm/s, 15 mm/s and 20 mm/s were tested under different stress levels varying from 0.1 MPa to 3 MPa and at different temperatures varying from 35 °C to 85 °C. Creep behavior with recovery was studied and analyzed to evaluate the viscoelastic properties. The change in spring constants, representing elastic deformation, was very small compared to the damping coefficients for the propellants studied. For a typical propellant formulation, when the stress level was increased, the spring and damping coefficient both increased significantly whereas for an increase in temperature, they remained nearly constant. However, the ratio E/η was observed to be constant and independent of stress level. It was also observed that the variation of E and η varied linearly with increase in stress whereas their ratio showed a logarithmic variation. A mathematical correlation was developed to evaluate the viscoelastic properties during creep of composite propellants.

Bone fractures break bone continuity. Impact or stress causes numerous bone fractures. Fracture misdiagnosis is the most frequent mistake in emergency rooms, resulting in treatment delays and permanent impairment. According to the Indian population studies, fractures are becoming more common. In the last three decades, there has been a growth of 480 000, and by 2022, it will surpass 600 000. Classifying X-rays may be challenging, particularly in an emergency room when one must act quickly. Deep learning techniques have recently become more popular for image categorization. Deep neural networks (DNNs) can classify images and solve challenging problems. This research aims to build and evaluate a deep learning system for fracture identification and bone fracture classification (BFC). This work proposes an image-processing system that can identify bone fractures using X-rays. Images from the dataset are pre-processed, enhanced, and extracted. Then, DNN classifiers ResNeXt101, InceptionResNetV2, Xception, and NASNetLarge separate the images into the ones with unfractured and fractured bones (normal, oblique, spiral, comminuted, impacted, transverse, and greenstick). The most accurate model is InceptionResNetV2, with an accuracy of 94.58%.

Opis:
The extraction of blood vessels from retinal images is an important and challenging task in medical analysis and diagnosis. This paper presents a novel hybrid automatic approach for the extraction of retinal image vessels. The method consists in the application of mathematical morphology and a fuzzy clustering algorithm followed by a purification procedure. In mathematical morphology, the retinal image is smoothed and strengthened so that the blood vessels are enhanced and the background information is suppressed. The fuzzy clustering algorithm is then employed to the previous enhanced image for segmentation. After the fuzzy segmentation, a purification procedure is used to reduce the weak edges and noise, and the final results of the blood vessels are consequently achieved. The performance of the proposed method is compared with some existing segmentation methods and hand-labeled segmentations. The approach has been tested on a series of retinal images, and experimental results show that our technique is promising and effective.

Opis:
Desired rock fragmentation is the need of the hour, which influences the entire mining cycle. Thus, most engineering segments pay attention to rock fragmentation and neglect by-products like ground vibration and fly rock. Structural and mechanical properties of rock mass like joint spacing, joint angle, and compressive strength of rock pose a puzzling impact on both fragmentation and ground vibration. About 80% of explosive energy that gets wasted in producing ill effects can be positively optimised, with a new set of blast design parameters upon identifying the behaviour of rock mass properties. In this connection, this research aims to investigate the influence of joint spacing, joint angle, and compressive strength of rock on fragmentation and induced ground vibration. To accomplish this task, research was carried out at an opencast coal mine. It was discovered from this research that compressive strength, joint spacing, and joint angle have a significant effect on the mean fragmentation size (MFS) and peak particle velocity (PPV). With the increase in compressive strength, MFS explicit both increase and decrease trends whilst PPV increased with a specific increase in compressive strength of the rock. An increase in joint spacing triggers both increase and decrease trends in both MFS and PPV. While there is an increase in joint angle, MFS and PPV decrease.

This communication explores the feasibility of biodiesel production from a weed plant Argemone mexicana seed oil and an efficient catalyst crystalline manganese carbonate. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study making use of pure, crystalline, ash colored manganese carbonate as a heterogeneous catalyst for the production of methyl esters as fuel from Argemone mexicana seed oil. The optimum process conditions for the conversion of Argemone mexicana oil to its methyl ester by transesterification required 1% manganese carbonate as catalyst with alcohol to oil ratio 5:1 at 60°C to yield biodiesel of 99.99% purity. The methyl esters obtained were examined by Gas chromatography analysis.

An efficient protocol for induction of callus and regeneration of a sugar cane var 93v297 has been developed and reported here. Callus induction from immature young leaf explants derived from 2-3-month-old plants was achieved on Murashige and Skoog’s (MS) medium supplemented with different auxins viz, 2,4-D, NAA and IAA. Among different auxins, 2, 4-D at 3.5mg/l + 0.5mg/l BAP was found favourable in inducing callus. Addition of coconut milk and BAP further enhanced the growth of callus maximum being on MS medium supplemented with 0.5mg/l BAP (3602.33±0.88mg). Calli were further evaluated for regeneration. MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/l BAP was found suitable where 100% calli regenerated with maximum number of multiple shoots per callus mass (41.40±0.89). Highest number of root emergence (28.33±1.16) and maximum root length (3.40±0.67cm) was achieved on MS medium supplemented with 3mgl/l NAA. The in vitro grown plants were transferred to polycups containing a mixture of sterilized sand, soil and cocopeet (1:1:1) for hardening. The hardened plants were transferred to green-house conditions where they survived with 90% frequency.

Opis:
Background. Complex high grade proximal tibia fractures with associated extensive soft tissue injury pose a management challenge. The timing of surgery and fracture fixation options depend upon the extent of soft tissue damage. Post-operative complications such as wound breakdown, infection and infected non-union are common in such cases managed early with open reduction and internal fixation. Such fractures can be treated with primary closed reduction and Ilizarov/hybrid fixator application. Materials and methods. It is a retrospective cross sectional study conducted at two tertiary care multispecialty hospitals to report the mid-term clinical and radiological outcomes of complex high grade proximal tibia fractures. These injuries were managed by closed reduction and external fixation with/without minimal internal fixation as a definitive procedure and outcome measures were checked with serial radiographs and functional scores at a regular interval of follow up. 17 patients with Schatzker’s type 5 or 6 proximal tibia fractures with soft tissue compromise were operated on at two tertiary care referral centres from 2017 to 2019. These cases were operated on by two experienced trauma surgeons. Periodic follow-up was done and radiological and functional progression noted from case records. Results. Average time to union was noted to be 12.59 weeks and mean time of fixator removal was 21.4 weeks. At the end of 1 year of follow-up, average range of motion was 121.76 degrees, average WOMAC score was 74.81(63-82) and KOOS score was 78.24(63-85). Conclusions. 1. Hybrid/Ilizarov fixator method is a safe way of fixing high energy proximal tibia fractures. It is associated with a good functional outcome, less soft tissue complications and allows early weight bearing. 2. We recommend this method of treatment for complex high grade proximal tibia fractures.

Opis:
It has been found that the vegetable oils are promising substitute, because of their properties are similar to those of diesel fuel and they are renewable and can be easily produced. However, drawbacks associated with crude vegetable oils are high viscosity, low volatility call for low heat rejection combustion chamber, with its significance characteristics of higher operating temperature, maximum heat release, and ability to handle lower calorific value (CV) fuel etc. Experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of an engine consisting of different low heat rejection (LHR) combustion chambers such as ceramic coated cylinder head-LHR-1, air gap insulated piston with superni (an alloy of nickel) crown and air gap insulated liner with superni insert – LHR-2; and ceramic coated cylinder head, air gap insulated piston and air gap insulated liner – LHR-3 with normal temperature condition of crude rice bran oil (CRBO) with varied injector opening pressure. Performance parameters (brake thermal efficiency, brake specific energy consumption, exhaust gas temperature, coolant load, and volumetric efficiency) and exhaust emissions [smoke levels and oxides of nitrogen [NOx]] were determined at various values of brake mean effective pressure of the engine. Combustion characteristics [peak pressure, time of occurrence of peak pressure, maximum rate of pressure rise] were determined at full load operation of the engine. Conventional engine (CE) showed compatible performance and LHR combustion chambers showed improved performance at recommended injection timing of 27 degrees bTDC and recommend injector opening pressure of 190 bar with CRBO operation, when compared with CE with pure diesel operation. Peak brake thermal efficiency increased relatively by 7%, brake specific energy consumption at full load operation decreased relatively by 3.5%, smoke levels at full load decreased relatively by 11% and NOx levels increased relatively by 58% with LHR-3 combustion chamber with CRBO at an injector opening pressure of 190 bar when compared with pure diesel operation on CE.
W porównaniu z silnikiem napędzanym olejem diesla, silnik konwencjonalny (CE) wykazał podobne osiągi przy pracy z olejem roślinnym (CRBO), a w komorach spalania o małych stratach ciepła (LHR) uzyskano lepsze osiągi przy zalecanym kącie wtrysku 27b stopni TDC (przed górnym punktem zwrotnym) i zalecanym ciśnieniu w otworze wtryskiwacza równym 190 bar. Szczytowa użyteczna sprawność cieplna wzrosła relatywnie o 7%, użyteczny współczynnik zużycia energii zmalał o 3,5% przy pracy z pełnym obciążeniem, poziomy dymu przy pełnym obciążeniu zmalały o 11%, a poziom tlenków NOx wzrósł relatywnie o 58% w przypadku komory spalania typu LHR-3 napędzanej olejem roślinnym CBRO przy ciśnieniu w otworze wtryskiwacza 190 bar, w porównaniu z parametrami uzyskanymi przy pracy z czystym olejem diesla.
