Opis:
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders have serious impact on the profession of dentistry. There is common occurrence of pain due to incorrect posture in dental professionals. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies may cast a new light on preventing and intercepting musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). An epidemiological study was conducted in an effort to contribute to the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in dentistry. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of MSD at dentists using CAM as a treatment and preventive modality for MSD and to compare job/career satisfaction between dentists who use CAM and conventional therapy (CT). Material and Methods: Dentists registered in Uttrakhand state, India, under the Dental Council of India and registered members of the Indian Dental Association, Uttrakhand branch (N = 1496) were surveyed. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 17. Results: A response rate of 84% (N = 1257) was obtained, revealing that 90% (N = 1131) had the problem of MSD. Seventy three percentage (N = 826) of dentists with MSD reported the use of CAM and CT. Complementary and alternative medicine users reported greater overall health (72.7% vs. 51%, p < 0.001), job satisfaction (61.2% vs. 35%, p < 0.001) and work efficiency compared to CT users. Conclusions: Complementary and alternative medicine therapies may improve quality of life, reduce work interruption and enhance job satisfaction for dentists who suffers from MSD. Through the course of their studies, dentists should be equipped with knowledge on ergonomics and CAM therapies, such as yoga and others, to help them prevent musculoskeletal disorders more effectively. Terapie z zakresu medycyny komplementarnej i alternatywnej (complementary and alternative medicine - CAM) mogą rzucić nowe światło na zapobieganie zaburzeniom mięśniowo-szkieletowym (musculoskeletal disorders - MSD). Celem badania było ustalenie, czy w przypadku MSD dentyści korzystają z medycyny alternatywnej. Porównano także satysfakcję zawodową dentystów, którzy stosują terapie CAM i tych korzystających z terapii konwencjonalnej. Materiał i metody: W badaniu wzięli udział dentyści zarejestrowani w regionie Uttrakhand (Indie) w Radzie Dentystycznej Indii i będący członkami Indyjskiego Towarzystwa Dentystycznego (oddział Uttrakhand) (N = 1496). Analizy statystyczne przeprowadzono za pomocą pakietu SPSS 17. Wyniki: Wskaźnik odpowiedzi wyniósł 84% (N = 1257). Aż 90% (N = 1131) respondentów cierpiało z powodu MSD. Korzystanie z CAM i terapii konwencjonalnej zgłosiło 73% (N = 826) dentystów biorących udział w badaniu, u których występowały MSD. Osoby stosujące CAM w porównaniu z osobami leczącymi się konwencjonalnie zgłaszały lepszy ogólny stan zdrowia (72,7% vs 51%, p < 0,001), wyższy poziom satysfakcji zawodowej (61,2% vs 35%, p < 0,001) i były w stanie pracować w takim wymiarze czasu, w jakim chciały (56,8% vs. 67%, p < 0,001) Wnioski: Terapie CAM mogą poprawić jakość życia, zredukować przerwy w pracy i zwiększyć satysfakcję zawodową u dentystów cierpiących na MSD. Już na etapie studiów należy przekazać dentystom wiedzę z zakresu ergonomii oraz terapii CAM, żeby potrafili skuteczniej zapobiegać wystąpieniu zaburzeń mięśniowo-szkieletowych. Patients are suffering from physical and mental activities called co-morbidities. We have to give treatments for co-morbid patients while in home or in hospital. The patient should be monitored by caregivers. Caregivers can’t predict the accurate timing and the exact change of the optimal result of the patient. In this case, we have to use sensor to monitor the patient activities without manual support. By using eye blink sensor, motion sensor and temperature sensor to check the level of patient and it will be displayed in LCD. If some abnormalities occur, we have to give alarm by using buzzer to caregiver, doctor or family members. We have to use ZigBee, for storing the patient details in the hospital management. It is useful to check the patient report with secure level in the database.

Opis:
In the last few decades of the twenty-first century there was a great revival in consumer demand for linen, particularly in the form of apparel fashion products. This trend has continued into the first decade of the twenty-first century, and promotional activities to increase consumer awareness of the desirable characteristics of linen have intensified, especially in European countries. Linen is an expensive fabric when compared to the other fabric types like cotton, viscose, nylon, and polyester. Due to the complexity of the manufacturing process linen is considered a luxury fabric material. Linen is manufactured from the flax plant which is taking more time to source it as a raw material for fabric manufacturing. Therefore the cost of the linen fabric is higher and apparel prices are relatively higher in cost. Most of the consumers prefer the hand feel of the linen fabric and its comfortability factor. They also demand the elegant look of the linen fashion apparel too. Therefore even at a higher price, consumers in Sri Lanka are not reluctant to buy the linen fashion apparel. The climatic changes in Sri Lanka have also become a significant factor for choose linen fashion apparel. It brings a comfortability to the wearer in a hot climate. However, In Sri Lanka, linen is consumed by different groups of consumers who are highly demanding linen fashion apparel. But this demand is not normal. According to the demand and supply theories, when the price for a particular product rises, the demand for that particular product falls. However, when considering linen apparel, although the price is higher, demand does not fall. This study aims to find out factors that caused unusual demand for linen fashion apparel in Sri Lanka. Factors that influence consumer buying behavior will be discussed. Adopted quantitative and qualitative research methods used to gather, sort, and analyze data. The research is focused on female consumers and the age limit is denied in the research.

The study aims to examine the role of Self-Forgiveness in shaping the Human Flourishing of the adults. Two hundred fourteen participants (18 to 30 years) comprising 100 males (Mean Age = 22.15(1.61)) and 114 females (Mean Age = 22.00(1.95)) were chosen for the study. Self-forgiveness (Mudgal & Tiwari, 2017a) and Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (Keyes, 2005) were used as the tools. Self-forgiveness comprises Realization & Reparation, Guilt, Attribution and overall self-forgiveness (sum of the first three) while Human Flourishing consists of Hedonic and Eudaimonic (Social plus Psychological) Well-Being. The aggregate of Hedonic and Eudaimonic is overall Human Flourishing. The findings suggested no gender differences in Self-Forgiveness of the participants. Conversely, gender differences were observed in all the dimensions of Human Flourishing in favour of males. Irrespective of gender, Realization & Reparation was positively correlated with Hedonic, Social, Psychological and Eudaimonic Well-Being as well as Human Flourishing except for Guilt and Attribution that showed small positive or negative correlations. Irrespective of gender, Overall Self-Forgiveness correlated positively with all the dimensions of Flourishing. Gender and Realization & Reparation emerged as the significant predictors accounting for significant variance in all the dimensions of Flourishing while Guilt and Attribution did not. The findings suggested that remorse, easy acceptance of wrongdoing, repairing the relationship with self and others, ability to minimize negative emotions towards self, monitoring others’ positive behaviours and acknowledgements of valued and close relationships were the psychological mechanisms that may underlie the predictive strengths of self-forgiveness in regulating flourishing.

The study examined the relationships among some demographic factors, self-compassion and interdependent happiness of the married Hindu couples. Using a correlational research design, 600 participants (300 couples) were chosen by a snowball sampling. Self-compassion Scale (Neff, 2003b), Socioeconomic Status Scale (Aggarwal et al., 2005) and Interdependent Happiness Scale (Hitokoto & Uchida, 2015) were used to collect data. Findings revealed that some demographic factors such as age, years of marriage and number of family members were positively correlated with self-compassion while the number of children and socioeconomic status were negatively correlated with it. Age, years of marriage and the number of children had a positive relationship with interdependent happiness. Self-compassion evinced a significant positive correlation with the interdependent happiness of the couples. The nature of family and self-compassion accounted for significant variance in the scores of interdependent happiness of the couples. The study constitutes one of the limited studies which assessed the relationships among a set of demographic factors, self-compassion and interdependent happiness on a sample drawn from a collectivistic society. The results have been discussed in the light of extant theoretical and empirical findings of self-compassion and interdependent happiness. The findings may have significant implications for understanding positive life outcomes of people with self-compassion belonging to a collectivistic culture. The theory, practise and policy implications of the findings have been discussed. Directions for future research have also been provided along with some limitations of the study.

Literary renditions of cities have always gravitated towards the spatial imagination and its ethical counterpart outside the textual space. This paper explores the multicultural geography of the North Indian city Allahabad (recently renamed Prayagraj) observed through Neelum Saran Gour’s postcolonial narratives Allahabad Aria and Invisible Ink, projecting the narrative alignment of spatial aesthetics and cultural ethics. Interrogating the spatial dimensions of a “narrative world” within narrative theory (Ryan) and its interdisciplinary crossover with cultural geography (Sauer; Mitchell; Anderson et al.), the article seeks to examine Gour’s literary city not simply as an objective homogeneous representation, but as a “kshetra” of spatio-cultural cosmos of lived traditions, memories, experiences and collective attitudes of its people, in the context of E. V. Ramakrishnan’s theoretical reflections. The article proposes new possibilities of adapting the Indian concept “kshetra” to spatial literary studies; its aim is also to suggest a new source of knowledge about the city of Allahabad through a community introspection of “doing culture” in the texts, bringing into view people’s shared experiences, beliefs, religious practices and traditions as offshoots of the postcolonial ethos. The article aims to re-contextualize the city’s longstanding multicultural ethics in the contemporary times of crisis, which may affect a shift in the city’s relevance: from regional concern to large-scale significance within ethnically diverse South Asian countries and beyond.

The major difference between a continuous mode optical regenerator (CMOR) and a burst mode optical regenerator (BMOR) is that a BMOR is capable of handling large variations in the input power which makes it useful in optical packet switched and optical burst switched networks. This is due to the optical limiting amplifier (OLA) present in the BMOR. Using computer modelling, the impact of using different OLA non-linear transfer functions on the output bit error rate of a system consisting of a cascade of 2R BMORs has been investigated. The effect of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise introduced in the inter-regenerator links has also been taken into consideration. Also, a brief review of existing OLA designs is presented.

The aim of the present numerical study was to analyse the pressure settlement behaviour and bearing capacity of asymmetric plus shaped footing resting on loose sand overlying dense sand at varying embedment depth. The numerical investigation was carried out using ABAQUS software. The effect of depth of embedment, friction angle of upper loose and lower dense sand layer and thickness of upper loose sand on the bearing capacity of the asymmetric plus shaped footing was studied in this investigation. Further, the comparison of the results of the bearing capacity was made between the asymmetric and symmetric plus shaped footing. The results reveal that with increase in depth of embedment, the dimensionless bearing capacity of the footings increased. The highest increase in the dimensionless bearing capacity was observed at embedment ratio of 1.5. The increase in the bearing capacity was 12.62 and 11.40 times with respect to the surface footings F1 and F2 corresponding to a thickness ratio of 1.5. The lowest increase in the dimensionless bearing capacity was observed at embedment ratio of 0.1 and the corresponding increase in the bearing capacity was 1.05 and 1.02 times with respect to the surface footing for footings F1 and F2 at a thickness ratio of 1.5.

This comparative study aimed to evaluate the effects of different drying methods such as solar drying, shade drying (SHD), freeze drying (FD), oven drying, and microwave drying on the physicochemical properties, bioactive components, and antioxidant activity of Centella asiatica. The results showed that out of all the treated samples, FD-treated samples showed the lowest moisture content (2.4%), the lowest water activity (0.24%), and the highest rehydration ratio (5.51%). For samples treated using different drying methods, significant differences in Commission on Illumination – LAB (L *, a *, and b *) values and total color difference (E) were observed. FD-treated samples showed the minimum color change (E) and highest lightness (L*). Additionally, upon Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis, no major changes in the functional groups were observed between C. asiatica leaves processed using different drying methods. FD-treated samples showed the highest antioxidant activity followed by SHD-treated samples, as measured by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid radical scavenging assays. The phenolic (chlorogenic acid, rutin, kaempferol, and quercetin) and triterpene saponin (madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic acid, and asiatic acid) contents of the dried samples of C. asiatica were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography, which showed that the FD method allowed for the highest retention of phenolic and triterpene saponins among the tested drying techniques. The physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant potential, and bioactive retention of the samples that underwent FD treatment were superior to those of other methods, and therefore, FD can be employed as the first-line drying technique for processing C. asiatica leaves.

analysis is carried out to study chemically reactive, viscous dissipative effects of an incompressible and electrically conducting fluid with MHD free convection adjacent to a vertical surface with variable thermal conductivity (VTD) and variable mass diffusivity (VMD). An approximate numerical solution for the steady laminar boundary layer flow over a wall of the surface in the presence of species concentration and thermal mass diffusion has been studied. Using numerical techniques the governing boundary layer equations are solved to get the exact solution. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters. The results are exhibited through various graphs and it is observed from the analysis of the results that the velocity field is appreciably influenced by the magnetic effect, porous effect, chemical reaction and buoyancy ratio between the species and thermal diffusion at the wall of the surface.
