The term ‘geohazard’ is used to describe the natural and anthropogenic phenomena and processes taking place in the natural environment in the context of their negative influence on natural environment, including the geological one. The degree of geohazard is frequently evaluated on the basis of catalogued descriptions (activity of natural environment and human impact), which help identify particular hazards and ascribe them their value. According to Czech standards, 45 geohazards have been classified and described in detail in view of: geological knowledge, origin and way in which the hazard was evoked, geographical range, time, associated processes, social aspect and monitoring methods. Research works were conducted in a football stadium located in an area of underground hard coal extraction and surface production of raw minerals. The BAZALY stadium, where FC Banik Ostrava played its matches, is located in Ostrava in an area of former mining fields of Silesian Ostrava. These coal mines were closed in the 1990s, but even so they still create environmental hazards. The paper is devoted to research works and risk analysis of the environmental impact of mining activities, old workings and liquidated mines in terms of geohazard. The basic geohazard in the stadium area is methane migration from tectonically disturbed rock mass, also caused by incorrectly closed workings. Another hazard is associated with the increasing mining damage, i.e. tectonic movements, subsidence, local sinkholes, lowering groundwater level etc.

Opis:
A limited ability to discriminate between different materials is the fundamental problem with all conventional eddy-current-based metal detectors. This paper presents the use, evaluation and classification of nontraditional excitation signals for eddy-current metal detectors to improve their detection and discrimination ability. The presented multi-frequency excitation signals are as follows: a step sweep sine wave, a linear frequency sweep and sin(x)/x signals. All signals are evaluated in the frequency domain. Amplitude and phase spectra and polar graphs of the detector output signal are used for classification and discrimination of the tested objects. Four different classifiers are presented. The classification results obtained with the use of poly-harmonic signals are compared with those obtained with a classical single-tone method. Multi-frequency signals provide more detailed information, due to the response function - the frequency characteristic of a detected object, than standard single-tone methods. Based on the measurements and analysis, a metal object can be better distinguished than when using a single-tone method.

W artykule przedstawiono sposób i wyniki badań liczby Strouhala nieruchomego modelu oblodzonego cięgna mostu podwieszonego. Badania wykonano w tunelu aerodynamicznym z komorą klimatyczną Laboratorium Czeskiej Akademii Nauk w Telc. W komorze klimatycznej wykonano doświadczalne oblodzenie modelu cięgna o osi nachylonej pod kątem 300 do płaszczyzny poziomej. Kształt oblodzonej powierzchni zarejestrowano metodą fotogrametrii cyfrowej. Do badań w tunelu aerodynamicznym wykonano nowy model sekcyjny oblodzonego cięgna metodą druku 3D. Liczbę Strouhala wyznaczono w zakresie wartości liczby Reynoldsa od 28 do 122 na podstawie pomiaru częstości odrywania się wirów w śladzie aerodynamicznym za modelem.
The paper presents the method and results of wind tunnel investigations of Strouhal number of stationary iced cable model of cable-stayed bridge. The investigations were performed in a Climatic Wind Tunnel Laboratory of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Telc. The experimental icing of the inclined cable model in the climatic chamber of the laboratory was made. The shape of the iced model was registered by a numerical photogrammetry method. For the aerodynamic tunnel investigations, the new iced cable model was made by using 3D printing method. The Strouhal number was determined within the range of the Reynolds number between 28·103 and 122·103, on the basis of the dominant vortex shedding frequency measured in the flow behind the model.

Connecting surveys and orientation measurements in the ČSA 2 and Mír 5 shafts were carried out in order to determine their positions in relation to each other and the positions of these two underground mining works in relation to structures situated on the surface. The measurements were carried out during the completion of the connecting underground crosscut between the Karviná and Darkov Mines, with an anticipated length of 3,100 metres. This is a very complex issue involving the most precise measurement and calculation techniques in mine surveying, especially as to achieving the necessary accuracy, which is mostly defined by the longitudinal and transverse deviations of the “cut-through” or “breakthrough”. The project engineer determined the required accuracy as a maximum deviation (longitudinal, transverse) of 0.250 metres for all cut-through options (special accuracy). The entire measurement process included surface measurements, depth measurements of both connected horizons (Mír 5: level 9, ČSA 2: level 11), connecting surveys and orientation measurements (using an MVT-2 gyrotheodolite), in accordance with Regulation of the Czech Mining Authority No. 435/1992 Coll. By analyzing the accuracy of the measurements, it was verified that the accuracy specified by Regulation of the Czech Mining Authority No. 435/1992 Coll. and required by the project had been achieved at all measurement stages. On 12 December 2012, both operating mines were connected underground at a depth of 870 metres, with positional accuracy of mx,y=0.011 m and height accuracy of mh=0.003 m.
Pomiary połączenia i pomiary kierunkowe w szybach Čsa 2 i Mír 5 zostały przeprowadzone w celu określenia ich położenia względem siebie oraz położenia tych dwóch podziemnych obiektów względem struktur na powierzchni. Pomiary przeprowadzono w okresie zakończenia projektu łączenia podziemnego przekopu pomiędzy kopalniami Karviná i Darkov o długości 3100 m. Jest to bardzo złożony problem obejmujący najbardziej precyzyjny pomiar i techniki obliczeniowe w miernictwie górniczym, głównie ze względu na potrzebę osiągnięcia wymaganej dokładności, która jest głównie określona przez wzdłużne i poprzeczne odchylenia przekopu i przecinki. Inżynier projektu określił wymaganą dokładność jako maksymalne odchylenie (wzdłużne, poprzeczne) równe 0,250 m dla wszystkich przekopów (dokładność specjalna). Cały proces pomiaru składał się z pomiaru powierzchni, pomiaru głębokości dwóch połączonych szybów (Mír 5:poziom 9, ČSA 2: poziom 11), pomiarów połączenia oraz pomiarów kierunkowe (przy użyciu giroteodolitu MVT-2) przeprowadzonych zgodnie z rozporządzeniem Czeskiego Urzędu Górniczego nr 435/1992. Poprzez analizę dokładności pomiarów potwierdzono, że dokładność określona w rozporządzeniu Czeskiego Urzędu Górniczego nr 435/1992 oraz ta wymagana w projekcie zostały osiągnięte we wszystkich etapach pomiarów. W dniu 12 grudnia 2012 obie kopalnie zostały połączone podziemnym tunelem o długości 870 m z dokładnością pozycyjną równą mx,y = 0,011 m oraz dokładnością wysokości równą mh = 0,003 m.

The article discusses a concept of Central Europe and its research implications, as seen within their importance to the Slavonic Studies in Brno. An essential element of any discussion about Central Europe (thus East and West) is a cultural dialogue. The author of the article understands such a dialogue as not only a gentle coexistence and peaceful supplementation but also – a creative confrontation of the participating parties. Under deliberations are also: a problem of evaluating some cultures against others, terms that reveal the off¬ putting attitudes and stereotypes used by some researchers when cultures and literatures of Central Europe are written about. The author analyses the tradition of “Central¬ Europeanness” and places it within a wide cultural context. The question about a future of this concept as well as the status of homo Europae centralis is also posited.

In this paper we address some of the issues surrounding the use of educational technology solutions with first year net generation students in an introductory education studies unit. These issues include the need for more engaging learning experiences, the role of technology in supporting this need, and the possible mismatch between expectations and actual needs. The student usage and access of a low-cost, flexible alternative to face-to-face individual or group-based academic support was the focus of this case study. We describe our rationale and attempt to help students with their assignment requirements in a first year teacher education unit through the development of a small-scale self-directed intervention program, and report on student engagement with the model. Analysis of the data brings to light findings that have implications for policy design and shows a need for timely research to better inform lecturers of their students’ digital literacy, acceptance and access, and use of innovative learning designs. This also highlights the requirement for a greater awareness of the technologies that students embrace, the technologies that may pose a challenge and the differing needs of first year students to those of the more experienced learners.

The author of the present study deals with the wider understanding of humour going back to Hippocrates ‘conception of four humours in human body and to its English Renaissance interpretation (Ben Jonson’s humoral theory). Humour was understood as the phenomenon leading to the mobilisation of psychic qualities of man which could demonstrate either joy and laughter or pain, spleen and tears, both comic and tragic aspects of human life; this conception was, therefore, much wider than that of comism and caricature.The author of the study seeks this wider conception of humour in Shakespeare’s “bitter comedies” and in some plays written by the 19th-century Russian dramatists {A. S.Griboyedov, A. V. Suchovo-Kobylin, M. Ye. Saltykov-Shchedrin} reflecting similar approaches in Gogol’s short storie and in his Dead Souls; later it appeared in the short stories of F. M. Dostoevsky and F. Kafka. This kind of humour arises from the confrontation of the usual and tolerable and the unusual and intolerable; it always means ambiguity and uncertainty. Humour has two faces like fire: it can be a good servant, but a bad master, as well as medicine has a double substance (the means leading to health or a poison leading to death). Such paradoxical and surprising features of humour can be found in Kafka’s novels, especially in The Castle (“inverted romance”) or in the Czech émigré writer Egon Hostovsky. The author of the study presents the case of the latest novel written by the Czech- German novelist Ota Filip (bom 1930), a sort of a confession interopreting his collaboration with the Czechoslovak communist secret police (the revelation of this fact led Ota Filip’s son to suicide in Germany). The novel called The Seventh Curriculum Vitae represents a special kind of a confessional chronicle in which the traces of a wider conception of humour as the means of the mobilisation of human psychology were being liquidated by the general skeptical understanding of the history of mankind. The author of the study manifests Filip’s “humour” by several passages concerning his favourite reading (Camus’ novels), the contrast of sex and politics reminding us of Yu. Bondarev and of M. Kundera’s Joke, and the ridiculous introduction of the Russian game “gorodki” into communist Czechoslovakia after 1948.The theoretical aspect of the present study reveals the fact that humour and its manifestations are closely associated with the general generic frame of the artifact, in this case with the confessional chronicle evoking the tragedy of the individual under the impact of history.

In this study, the author presents the situation of the Czech Catholicism in connection with the approaches to Jan Hus and the Hussite movement in the 19th and 20th century. Firstly, a monograph by Belgian Benedictine P. de Vooght helped to renew the attitude of Czech Catholics to Jan Hus. Secondly, the work of Czech scholars of the last four decades culminated on the Lateran symposium in 1999. Finally, the author presents forthcoming activities reminding the Czech Catholics of the 600th anniversary of death of the Czech reformer.
W artykule autor prezentuje sytuację czeskiego katolicyzmu w kontekście jego odniesienia do Jana Husa i ruchu husyckiego w XIX i XX w. W pierwszym punkcie autor przypomina, że ważnym przyczynkiem do odnowy stanowiska czeskiego katolicyzmu wobec Jana Husa była monografia belgijskiego benedyktyna, P. de Vooght. W drugim prezentuje prace czeskich myślicieli z okresu ostatnich czterech dekad, które znalazły swój punkt kulminacyjny w sympozjum zorganizowanym na Lateranie w 1999 r. Ostatnia część opisuje planowane działania, mające na celu upamiętnienie przez czeskich katolików 600. rocznicy śmierci czeskiego reformatora.

We report on the basic physical properties of a novel $CeCo_{0.715}Si_{2.285}$ compound, mainly its rich magnetic phase diagram. The compound crystallizes in the I-4m2 space group structure with extremely elongated unit cell (a = 4.12 Å, c = 32.84 Å). In a zero magnetic field it orders antiferromagnetically at $T_{N}$ = 10.5 K with another order-to-order transition at 9.5 K. Under application of a magnetic field along the c-axis it manifests numerous magnetic transitions in small fields (B < 500 mT), resembling the so-called "devil's staircase" systems. Above 1 T the magnetization is almost constant up to 14 T (maximum magnetic field applied within our study) but considerably reduced (0.3 $μ_B$/Ce) with respect to the free $Ce^{3+}$ ion. After removing the applied field, however, the high field state remains unchanged to be removed in negative fields. The compound also exhibits strong hysteresis of magnetization with respect to varying temperature or magnetic field. For fields applied along the a-axis typical behavior for the hard axis in the material with uniaxial anisotropy is observed.

UCoGe is an archetype of coexisting weak itinerant 5f-electron ferromagnetism ($T_{C}$~3 K, $μ_{s}$=$0.03μ_{B}$/f.u.) and superconductivity ($T_{SC}$~ 0.6 K) at ambient pressure. The Ru substitution for Co leads to an initial sharp increase of the $T_{C}$ up to the maximum of $T_{C}$=8.5 K for x=0.12, increase of spontaneous magnetic moment and suppression of superconductivity. We have grown the $UCo_{0.88}Ru_{0.12}Ge$ single crystal and studied magnetization along the principal crystallographic axes. To see the microscopic background of these findings we performed a polarized neutron diffraction experiment on D3 diffractometer in ILL. We have found that the Co and U moments are parallel in $UCo_{0.88}Ru_{0.12}Ge$, in contrast to the antiparallel configuration in UCoGe. This is probably the reason of the spontaneous magnetization increase with Ru doping.
