Opis:
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the influence of Multiple Intelligences Theory on the process of acquiring a foreign language. MI theory developed by Howard Gardner (1983), says that every single individual possesses eight different types of intelligences: Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and Naturalist. It stands in opposition to the belief that intelligence is an innate entity which we inherit or we are born with. Nevertheless, not everybody has eight very well-developed intelligences, some may be dominant or underdeveloped. Moreover, Gardner claims that all these types of intelligence may be improved. As a result, learners of English language are able to know themselves better and find appropriate milieu in which they would feel comfortable and safe. Different intelligence capacities provide various ways of knowing, acquiring, understanding, and learning about the surrounding world. Hence, teaching with the knowledge concerning students’ dominant intelligences is perceived as fruitful and lucrative because then educators may nurture their intelligences.

Opis:
English has become one of the most popular and common languages in the world. Its massive increase has been noticeable in the recent years. More and more people, regardless of their age, learn English. They obviously have different competences, skills and needs therefore, the topic of the thesis which the author concentrates on, is Use of games and game-like activities in teaching English to different age groups. There are three age groups mentioned in this thesis: young learners (children aged between 5 or 6 and 12), adolescents (teenagers between 13 and 19) and adults. The age of learners is the major factor in teaching English, however, games and game-like activities do not interfere in acquiring the language by people of different ages.

Opis:
The article’s aim is to demonstrate how migration regimes tacitly operate at the level of everyday practices. We propose to see migrants’ leisure, recreational use of parks in particular, as a venue for the internalization and embodiment of migration regimes. We seek to explore if migrants negotiate and resist these regimes through their everyday practices. Our study is based on 70 interviews with Ukrainian and Vietnamese migrants in Poland, Moroccan migrants in the Netherlands, Turkish migrants in Germany, and Latino and Chinese migrants in the U.S. We present migrants’ perceptions of urban parks’ rules and their interactions with other park users. Particular attention is paid to migrants’ ability to negotiate the existing regulations and to adjust these environments to their needs. We discuss the mechanisms that limit migrants’ ability to negotiate the frameworks of migration regimes through their leisurely use of urban parks.
