Opis:
It is well known that convolutional codes are linear systems when they are defined over a finite field. A fundamental issue in the implementation of convolutional codes is to obtain a minimal state representation of the code. Compared with the literature on one-dimensional (1D) time-invariant convolutional codes, there exist relatively few results on the realization problem for time-varying 1D convolutional codes and even fewer if the convolutional codes are two-dimensional (2D). In this paper we consider 2D periodic convolutional codes and address the minimal state space realization problem for this class of codes. This is, in general, a highly nontrivial problem. Here, we focus on separable Roesser models and show that in this case it is possible to derive, under weak conditions, concrete formulas for obtaining a 2D Roesser state space representation. Moreover, we study minimality and present necessary conditions for these representations to be minimal. Our results immediately lead to constructive algorithms to build these representations.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to trial several attacking offensive sequences as representative for further use in research on the perceptual-cognitive skills of water polo players. Elite water polo coaches were presented with separate test film sequences encompassing 80 structured water polo offensive plays. Each clip was approximately 6 s–7 s long with an inter-clip interval of 5 s–10 s, where a red dot was displayed on-screen at the start of the clip to indicate the area of first appearance of the ball. The order of presentation of the video clips was counterbalanced and randomly determined. The criteria were scored on a 5-point Likert-type scale. From the 80 clips presented, only 56 showed high agreement (W = 1; p < 0.05) and internal consistence reliability between the expert observers (α = 0.980; p < 0.05). Furthermore, a very high reproducibility (Z = 0; p = 1) was obtained between viewing sessions. The results obtained determine that 56 offensive scenarios were representative of the water polo game and as such may be useful in evaluating the perceptual-cognitive skills of the players.

Opis:
ObjectivesTo assess the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in municipal employees of Northern Portugal during the first pandemic wave (May–June 2020) and its association with potentially related risk factors for infection.Material and MethodsThe authors assessed municipal employees of 2 cities in Northern Portugal, in whom serological tests to SARS-CoV-2 and an epidemiological survey were applied. The authors assessed the proportion of individuals presenting IgM and/or IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, and evaluated the association between having positive serological test results, epidemiologic variables and clinical presentations. Reported symptoms were evaluated on their sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values.ResultsThe authors assessed 1696 employees, of whom 22.0% were firefighters, 10.4% were police officers, 10.3% were maintenance workers, and 8.1% were administrative assistants. The seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was 2.9% (95% CI: 2.1–3.7%). Administrative assistants comprised the professional group with highest seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 (OR = 1.9 in the comparison with other occupational groups, 95% CI: 0.8–4.3, p = 0.126). The seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection among those who were in direct contact with COVID-19 patients in their professional activity was 3.9%, compared to 2.7% among those who were not in direct contact with such patients (OR = 1.5, 95% CI: 0.8–2.8, p = 0.222). The highest risk of infection was associated with the presence of a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection in the household (OR = 17.4, 95% CI: 8.3–36.8, p < 0.001). Living with a healthcare professional was not associated with a higher risk of infection (OR = 1.0, 95% CI: 0.4–2.5, p = 0.934). Anosmia/dysgeusia was the symptom with the highest positive predictive value (52.2%, 95% CI: 31.8–72.6, p < 0.001) and specificity (99.3%, 95% CI: 98.9–99.7, p < 0.001), while cough was the most prevalent symptom among SARS-CoV-2 seropositive participants (36%).ConclusionsThe authors observed a SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence of 2.9% among assessed municipal employees. Anosmia/dysgeusia was the COVID-19 symptom which displayed the highest positive predictive value and specificity.

Opis:
Introduction. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic, autoimmune inflammatory disease of unknown origin, mainly affecting synovial joints and related structures, including the adjacent musculature, generating great disability and reduction in quality of life. Aim. This study was designed to investigate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on gastrocnemius of Wistar rats subjected to an experimental model of RA. Material and methods. Forty male Wistar rats were used, separated into: acute and chronic, being subdivided into Control Group (CG): without intervention, Lesion Group (LG): submitted to lesion, Laser Control Group (LCG): without lesion and with treatment, and Laser Lesion Group (LLG): submitted to lesion and LLLT. The treatment with LLLT occurred in four points of the right knee, wavelength of 660 nm, energy density of 5 J/cm², energy per point of 0.003 J. Morphometric analysis was performed using a 40x magnification photomicrograph and analyzed using the Image-Pro-Plus 6.0 program. Results. As result of the acute group there was a difference only for muscle mass, being higher in CG. For the chronic group there was significant difference for cross-sectional area, larger and smaller diameter, again with the control group obtaining higher values than the others, for the number of nuclei LG was lower than CG and LCG, but LLG was not different from any of them. Conclusion. It is concluded that treatment with LLLT was not very effective in reversing the harmful effects of RA on the gastrocnemius muscle.
