Opis:
In this study, three different gas turbine cogeneration systems that are preheating air, preheating air-fuel and simple cycles where steam injected in to combustion chamber are analyzed. The effects of steam injection on thermoeconomic performance are calculated and obtained. By using the first law of thermodynamics, the exergy analysis and economic methods, simulation programs written by the authors in FORTRAN code are obtained to use for the analyses. Thermoeconomic performance of these three different cycles for different stage and variable mass of injected steam are obtained and compared with literature. The effects of injection steam in to combustion chambers of those three cycles for variable compressing ratios, on power, efficiencies, product price and performances are obtained. Consequently, the advantages and the disadvantages of injection steam are evaluated. The results obtained in this study are compared with the results available in the literature. Injection steam into combustion chamber increases the electricity efficiency and electricity power but decreases the heat power of the cycles. Also the produced electricity price for per kWh is increasing.

The seeds of two safflower cultivars were investigated in order to determine their frictional and aerodynamic properties as a function of moisture content. The coefficients of dynamic friction of cultivars on aluminium, plywood, fibreglass and steel surfaces increased by 87, 56, 78, and 129% for cv. Remzibey-05 seed, and by 91, 31, 71, and 131% for cv. Dinçer seed, respectively, between the initial and final moisture content levels. The terminal velocities of the Remzibey-05 and Dinçer seeds increased by 15 and 11%, respectively, with increase in moisture content between the initial and final levels.

In the study, physico-mechanical properties [geometric mean diameter (Dg), sphericity, surface area, weight (W), bulk and fruit density, color, fruit removal force (FRF), puncture and compression force, puncture and compression deformation, friction coefficient] and biochemical attributes [pH, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), vitamin C, total phenolics (TPs), total monomeric anthocyanin (TMA) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC)] of cherry laurel fruits (Prunus laurocerasus) and stones were investigated. Geometric mean diameter, surface area, fruit weight, bulk and fruit density significantly increased, but L*, a* and b* values significantly decreased with the progress of ripening. Fruit removal force decreased from 5.04 N to 3.09 N. On the other hand, W/FRF increased with the progress of harvest date. Static friction coefficient of fruits significantly increased over plywood and silicone surfaces and friction coefficients of stones increased over plywood, galvanized mild steel and silicone surfaces with the progress of harvest date. The pH, SSC, vitamin C, TPs, TMA and TAC (according to FRAP and TEAC assay) values significantly increased with the progress of ripening. It was concluded that fruit maturity stage at harvest had significant impact on physico-mechanical attributes and bioactive compounds of cherry laurel fruits.

The aim of this study is to design and implement a system that detect driver sleepiness and warn driver in real-time using image processing and machine learning techniques.Viola-Jones detector was used for segmenting face and eye images from the camera-acquired driver video. Left and right eye images were combined into a single image. Thus, an image was obtained in minimum dimensions containing both eyes. Features of these images were extracted by using Gabor filters. These features were used to classifying images for open and closed eyes. Five machine learning algorithms were evaluated with four volunteer’s eye image data set obtained from driving simulator. Nearest neighbor IBk algorithm has highest accuracy by 94.76% while J48 decision tree algorithm has fastest classification speed with 91.98% accuracy. J48 decision tree algorithm was recommended for real time running. PERCLOS the ratio of number of closed eyes in one minute period and CLOSDUR the duration of closed eyes were calculated. The driver is warned with the first level alarm when the PERCLOS value is 0.15 or above, and with second level alarm when it is 0.3 or above. In addition, when it is detected that the eyes remain closed for two seconds, the driver is also warned by the second level alarm regardless of the PERCLOS value. Designed and developed real-time application can able to detect driver sleepiness with 24 FPS image processing speed and 90% real time classification accuracy. Driver sleepiness were able to detect and driver was warned successfully in real time when sleepiness level of driver is achieved the defined threshold values.

Opis:
Titanium dioxide $(TiO_2)$ thin films were prepared by spin coating technique of sol precursor on Corning 7059 glass substrates. Spectral transmittances of as deposited and annealed samples were measured in the range of 250 to 1100 nm. Optical band gaps were calculated from the Tauc plots and was found to be about 3.78 eV for the annealed samples at 500°C. X-ray diffraction patterns were performed with as deposited and annealed samples. By annealing the samples at 500C in various annealing times, the structure has changed from amorphous to the anatase crystalline state. Variations of the band gap energy values of $TiO_2$ films with cobalt doping were also investigated. Cobalt doping decreased the band gap value of $TiO_2$ films down to 3.25 eV. X-ray diffraction patterns were also given for the doped samples.
