Synthesis of nanocrystalline, spherical, and anatase type $TiO_2$ photocatalyst were performed by supercritical gas antisolvent process in the range of 50-150C and 100-150 bar. As-prepared samples were calcined at 500C and characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method, differential thermal analysis/thermal gravimetry. In X-ray diffraction analysis, the anatase crystalline phase of titanium dioxide has been detected. The mean crystalline size of powders is about 13 nm. The photoactivity test of the powders was evaluated by the photodegradation of aqueous RR 180 (reactive red 180) solution under UV light. While the photocatalytic performance of $TiO_2$ powders (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 69.2 $m^2$/g) produced at 150 bar and 150C was found to be 98%, only 25% degradation was observed with powder produced at 150 bar and 100°C. Results showed that the powder properties and photocatalytic activity can be tuned by controlling the supercritical conditions such as temperature and pressure.

Recently, there has been considerable interest in $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ as a potential anode for use in lithium ion batteries. It has many advantages compared to the currently used graphite. It has a good reversibility but no structural change. The material has a theoretical specific capacity of 175 mAh $g^{-1}$. $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ powders are usually synthesized by a solid-state reaction of lithium and titanium salts. This method was generally preferred because the synthesis procedures are simple. But there are some disadvantages of solid-state methods such as larger particle size of the products, inhomogeneous distribution, lack of stoichiometry control, etc. These disadvantages can be overcome by sol-gel method. Using surfactant in sol-gel method is easy control on crystal growth and size of the desired products.

This study examined the formation mechanism of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ by a ball mill assisted solid-state reaction between $Li_2CO_3$ and $TiO_2$ for applications in lithium ion batteries, also effects of $TiO_2$ source such as rutile type and anatase type on the electrochemical performance of $Li_{4}Ti_5O_{12}$. However, it is believed that the particle properties may depend significantly on the synthesis process and starting materials, which lead to final products with a range of sizes, morphologies, and even phases.

We have calculated relativistic energies, Landé factors, and lifetimes for some excited levels outside the core [Xe] in neutral ytterbium (Yb I, Z=70) using two configuration interaction methods (multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock method within the framework of Breit-Pauli relativistic corrections developed by Fischer, and Cowan's relativistic Hartree-Fock method). Results obtained have been compared with other calculations and experiments.

Using the relativistic Hartree-Fock method developed by Cowan, we calculated the electric dipole (E1) transition parameters such as the wavelengths, the weighted oscillator strengths, and the transition probabilities (or rates) for doubly ionized lutetium (Lu III, Z=71). We compared the results with available calculations and experiments in literature. A discussion of these calculations for Lu III in this study has also been made in view of the relativistic Hartree-Fock method.

Opis:
This paper presents an optimal boundary temperature control of thermal stresses in a plate, based on time-conformable fractional heat conduction equation. The aim is to find the boundary temperature that takes thermal stress under control. The fractional Laplace and finite Fourier sine transforms are used to obtain the fundamental solution. Then the optimal control is held by successive iterations. Numerical results are depicted by plots produced by MATLAB codes.

Occupational accidents on board criteria determining is a challenging procedure in shipping industry as the ideal safety ship management strategy depends on many factors involving in shipping transportation There are many legislations, agreements and practices to obtain series of security measures in order to ensure safety and security of seafarers. Causes of on-board occupational accidents need to be evaluated in a correct manner to regulate more functional practices and also to lower the on-board accident rates. However, causes of on-board accidents can be extremely complex. Therefore, scientific methods should be used to evaluate the causes and to determine the measures to be taken. The evaluation of the parameters is of great importance for the future of the maritime sector and in terms of development. In this study, factors have been identified that lead to seafarers? occupational accidents on board and we tried to present alternative solutions which can be applied on this issue. Severity of the reasons that led to the accidents and their relationships with each other are identified to be able to sort through the alternative solutions with a model using the fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method approach. Results of the study revealed that the most important criteria for the occupational accidents on board criteria selection are respectively; human factors, lack of management, ship-borne troubles, cargo troubles and environmental factors.

Purpose: Use of aluminium alloys in critical parts of a vehicle is common since they can combine the two important properties of a material those are being strength and lightweight. The aim in this research is to guide to design process of a wheel with taking example of an electric race vehicle implementation. Design/methodology/approach: In this study, the fatigue strengths of wheels produced for a two-person racing electric vehicle (Demobil09) are evaluated by calculating maximum distortion energy criterion (Von Mises) with Finite Element Analysis. Findings: Aluminium alloy wheels are crucial safety related components and are subjected to static and dynamic loads directly. Using FEA results, the weight and equivalent stress of the wheel are both reduced. So, the energy consumption is also decreased. Modal frequencies of the wheel models are determined. Research limitations/implications: In this paper, the materials analysed are AL6063 T6 and Al5083 aluminium alloys. Different materials can be analysed in future works. Practical implications: This paper is focusing on how to reduce the energy consumption of a two-person electric vehicle concentrating on reducing the weight of vehicle wheels. The vehicle is more technological than mass production cars since it is an electric race car which uses a hub motor, the body and chassis are produced using carbon polymer composites and all electronic units are designed and produced. Although its specialities it has homologated safety equipment like seats and safety belts. Originality/value: All boundary conditions must be analysed in details and a strength analysis must be conducted during design of the wheels for different load cases to ensure the strength of a wheel while keeping the weight as low as possible. In this complex process, this paper can give some clues to designers for strengths and weights of the designs since three different wheel forms are evaluated for reducing energy consumption of the vehicle.

This study aimed to determine the effects of dexamethasone and minocycline alone and combined treatment with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and vitamin E on serum coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) levels in rats administered aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The study was carried out on 66 male Wistar rats. Following the intraperitoneal (IP) administration of AFB1 at dose of 2 mg/kg, minocycline (45 and 90 mg/kg, IP) and dexamethasone (5 and 20 mg/kg, IP) were administered alone and combined with NAC (200 mg/kg, IP) and vitamin E (600 mg/kg, IP). CoQ10 and MMP-9 levels were analyzed using the HPLC-UV method and a commercial kit by ELISA, respectively. AFB1 increased MMP-9 level and decreased CoQ10 level compared to the control group. After dexamethasone and minocycline administration, there is no increase in CoQ10 level, which is caused by AFB1. However, dexamethasone and minocycline combined with NAC+vitamin E caused significant increases in CoQ10 levels. Dexamethasone and minocycline alone and combined with NAC+vitamin E decreased MMP-9 levels compared to the single AFB1 treated group. The use of MMPs inhibitors and oxidative stress-reducing agents is anticipated to be beneficial in the poisoning with AFB1.

Pharmaceutical industry is forced to develop new pharmacologically active molecules. Like other plants, mosses are considered to be potential source of new biologically active compounds. The present study was designed to evaluate the The antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of extracts obtained from some moss species in Turkey antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of 8 moss species: Hypnum cupressiforme, Homalothecium sericeum, Thuidium delicatulum, Homalothecium lutescens, Homalothecium nitens, Leucodon sciuroides, Ctenidium molluscum, and Eurhynchium striatulum obtained from Turkey. Methods: The antimicrobial activity of extracts was investigated against four Gram (+) and six Gram (–) bacterial strains and three tested fungi. Total phenolic content (TPC), cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and DPPH radical scavenging activity assays were applied to determine the antioxidant activity. All moss extacts were found to be active against all the organisms except Homalothecium nitens. Especially, H. sericeum and E. striatulum showed the best antioxidant activity. The obtained results show that mosses may be used as possible natural antioxidant, antimicrobial agents to control various human, animal and plant diseases.
Przemysł farmaceutyczny wciąż poszukuje nowych związków aktywnych. Podobnie jak inne rośliny, również mchy uważa się za potencjalne źródło nowych związków biologicznie czynnych. Przedstawione badania miały na celu określenie aktywności przeciwdrobnoustrojowej i przeciwutleniającej ośmiu gatunków mchów rosnących w Turcji: Hypnum cupressiforme, Homalothecium sericeum, Thuidium delicatulum, Homalothecium lutescens, Homalothecium nitens, Leucodon sciuroides, Ctenidium molluscum i Eurhynchium striatulum. Działanie przeciwdrobnoustrojowe wyciągów badano w stosunku do czterech szczepów bakterii Gram (+) i sześciu Gram (–) oraz w stosunku do trzech gatunków grzybów. Działanie przeciwutleniające badano oznaczając sumę zawartości związków fenolowych (TPC), zdolność redukowania miedzi (CUPRAC), zdolność redukowania jonów żelaza (FRAP) i oznaczając działanie przeciwutleniające z użyciem rodnika DPPH . Wszystkie badane wyciągi z mchów (za wyjątkiem Homalothecium nitens) wykazywały aktywność przeciwdrobnoustrojową w stosunku do testowanych mikroorganizmów. Najsilniejsze działanie przeciwutleniające wykazały wyciągi z H. sericeum i E. striatulum. Otrzymane wyniki wskazują, że można traktować mchy jako potencjalne naturalne źródła substancji antyoksydacyjnych i przeciwdrobnoustrojowych do zwalczania chorób ludzi, zwierząt i roślin.
