    Sn$\text{}_{0.96}$Gd$\text{}_{0.04}$Te has been studied by means of the resonant photoemission spectroscopy in the constant final states, constant initial states and energy distribution curves modes. In the constant final states spectrum of the well-known giant resonance at the 4d-4f threshold around 150 eV we were able to resolve a peak of the multiplet structure that has not previously been found. Spectra were also taken at the 4p-5d threshold around 280 eV revealing a double structure with antiresonating behaviour.

    Opis:
    W artykule przedstawiono metodologię postępowania podczas projektowania robót modernizacyjnych. Przedstawiono proces zmian wartości użytkowych budynku w trakcie eksploatacji. Zaproponowano metodę oceny właściwości użytkowych obiektu poprzez działania diagnostyczne. Działania diagnostyczne dotyczą tak zwanych wymagań podstawowych – wyszczególnionych w Prawie budowlanym. Właściwie przeprowadzona diagnostyka stanowi podstawę określenia zakresu modernizacji i opracowania metod ich realizacji. W końcowej części artykułu autorzy przedstawili koncepcję algorytmu określania stopnia zużycia budynków, który ułatwi podjęcie decyzji o zakresie modernizacji.
    The paper presents the design methodology of modernization works. Process of changes in performance characteristics of building during its operation is presented. The method of performance characteristics evaluation of an object by diagnostic measures is proposed. The diagnostic measures relate to the so-called basic requirements which are specified in the building law. The properly conducted diagnosis is the basis for determining the scope of modernization works and for developing methods for their implementation. In the final part of the paper the authors present the concept of an algorithm for determining the degree of building operational wear which helps to determine the scope of modernization works.

    The reflectivity spectra of Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$F$\text{}_{2}$ crystals, in the 5-35 eV energy range at 300 and 77 K, were investigated. The observed changes in the shape of spectra, caused by increase of the Mn content, are compared with the calculated band structure of pure CdF$\text{}_{2}$ and with the already available results of XPS experiments for these crystals. The increasing concentration of Mn results in the blurring of the reflectivity structures and shifts the energy of direct exciton (as compared to pure CdF$\text{}_{2}$). Qualitative arguments (hybridization of Mn$\text{}^{2+}$ 3d and F$\text{}^{-}$ 2p states) can describe these effects but a quantitative explanation would require a detailed band structure calculation for these compounds.

    Przedstawiono kryteria oceny przydatności monokryształów GaAs, InP i GaP do wytwarzania elementów optyki podczerwieni (okienka, soczewki). Zbadano wpływ parametrów fizycznych i rodzaju domieszki na wartość transmitancji monokryształów GaAs, InP, GaP w obszarze podczerwieni. Określono zakres koncentracji nośników dla wymienionych materiałów, w którym zmiany transmitancji związane z absorpcją na swobodnych nośnikach są w granicach błędu. Oceniono przydatność wytwarzanych w ITME monokryształów GaAs, InP, GaP dla potrzeb optyki podczerwieni.
    In this work the influence of physical parameters and dopants concentration on infrared transmission level in GaAs, InP, GaP crystals was investigated. The carrier concentration range in which transmitance value is constant was evaluated. For the higher concentration, transmitance decreases due to absorption on free carriers. An assessment of GaAs, InP, GaP crystals for optical applications was done.

    We present a new outlook at the study of metal-semiconductor interface formation. A resonant photoemission spectroscopy tuned to the Fe 3p-3d transition (56 eV) was used to investigate the changes after sequential deposition of Fe atoms on freshly cleaved Cd$\text{}_{0.86}$Fe$\text{}_{0.14}$Se crystal surface. In the first stages (0.6-4 ML) of Fe deposition the contribution of Fe 3d electrons to the valence band grows up markedly indicating the increase in Fe content in the Cd$\text{}_{0.86}$Fe$\text{}_{0.14}$Se crystal surface region. When the amount of Fe exceed 40 ML the resonant photoemission spectra became similar to the Fe metal with some contribution of the ternary crystal substrate.

    Single crystal of erbium doped La$\text{}_{3}$Ga$\text{}_{5.5}$Ta$\text{}_{0.5}$O$\text{}_{14}$ grown by the Czochralski method have been investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance and dielectric spectroscopy methods. Dielectric permittivity ε measurements performed in 90-440 K temperature range have shown negligible dispersion for 1 kHz - 1 MHz frequencies and a Curie-Weiss type behaviour with C=47700 K andθ=-340 K. Electron paramagnetic resonance studies have revealed the presence of two different paramagnetic, monoclinic centres. The calculated g factor values are: g$\text{}_{1}$=1.449, g$\text{}_{2}$=11. 534, g$\text{}_{3}$=4.24 for the main M$\text{}_{1}$ centre and g$\text{}_{1}$=1.98, g$\text{}_{2}$=4.169, g$\text{}_{3}$=4.25 for the weaker M$\text{}_{2}$ centre. The temperature dependence of EPR line intensity for centre M$\text{}_{1}$ and M$\text{}_{2}$ is quite different - while lines attributed to M$\text{}_{1}$ could only be observed at low temperatures, below 20 K, lines of M$\text{}_{2}$ centre persisted up to 200 K. The M$\text{}_{1}$ centre is connected with Er$\text{}^{3+}$ ion entering substitutionally into La$\text{}^{3+}$ site, while M$\text{}_{2}$ is probably connected with 3d ions at the same site, unintentionally introduced into the material as an admixture.

    Photoemission measurements using synchrotron radiation were performed on PbYbTe (bulk crystal) and CdYbTe (MBE thin film). The resonant enhancement of the photoemission was applied for investigation of the contribution of Yb 4f electrons to the valence band. The set of the energy distribution curves was collected for energies in the region close to the 4d-4f Fano transition. The Yb 4f$\text{}^{14}$ were observed at the binding energies close to the edge of the valence band while the 4f$\text{}^{13}$ states were revealed deep in the valence band.
