Variability, the characteristic sign of present days, reduces the expectedtime horizon andincreases the uncertainty ragarding future management conditions. This fact makes it difficult for companies to create and fulfill their long-term strategies. This also applies to agricultural entreprises, where this widespread uncertainty about the future is also intensified by the unpredictible effects ofnature (biology, climate, soil) and the strong dependence on macroeconomic turmoils resultingfrom even the lack of direct impact of agriculture on the supply and sales markets. This dependence does not eliminate but rather reinforces the needfor strategic management also in the agricultural companies, among others to retain the compatibility of the current decisions with the desired future states.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2011 r. dotyczących oceny dzierżawy jako podstawy gospodarowania nieruchomościami rolnymi Skarbu Państwa. Podstawą analizy były opinie 162 dzierżawców tych nieruchomości w województwie warmińsko-mazurskim nt. możliwości i uwarunkowań dotyczących trwałości dzier- żawy w zagospodarowaniu państwowych nieruchomości rolnych. Respondenci wskazali na ograniczone możliwości zakupu dzierżawionych gruntów ze względu na niskie dochody. Podkreślili także, że z punktu ekonomicznego zasadne jest zachowanie przez państwo własności tych gruntów.
The article shows the results of a survey conducted among 162 tenants of agricultural land In Warmia and Mazury owned by the Tresury. The analysis was based on their opinion on different possibilities and conditions of the lease sustainability in the use of state agricultural land. Respondents indicated that their opportunity to purchase leased land is limited due to their low incomes. They also stressed that, in the ecomnomic sense, it is reasonable to maintain the state ownership of the land.

Celem badań była identyfikacja zamierzeń i planów zawodowych uczniów szkół ponadgimnazjalnych zamieszkałych oraz uczących się na wsi oraz ocena czynników wpływających na te wybory, a także warunkujących ich zrealizowanie. Badania przeprowadzono w 2012 r. wśród 125 uczniów wiejskich szkół ponadgimnazjalnych. Stwierdzono m.in. większą aktywność edukacyjną dziewcząt niż chłopców. Dotyczyło to także zamiaru opuszczenia przez nich na stałe wsi. Młodzież wykazała dużą skłonność do migracji zagranicznych, a od przyszłego miejsca pracy oczekiwała przede wszystkim wysokich zarobków oraz zapewnienia satysfakcji i możliwości rozwoju.
The paper contains a study carried among students of rural upper secondary school regarding their educational and career aspirations. The study shows that girls are more active in sphere of education than boys. It refers also to their aspiration to migrate from the rural area, with a high propensity to migrate abroad. Moreover, they expect high earnings, satisfaction and the possibility of development from theirfuture work.

Przedmiotem analizy była identyfikacja wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych barier rozwoju, źródeł finansowania i ich dostępności, samoocena przedsiębiorców dotycząca pozycji konkurencyjnej i źródeł konkurencyjności, zamierzeń rozwojowych dotyczących inwestycji i innowacji, oczekiwań dotyczących wsparcia rozwoju przedsiębiorczości.
This article presents a survey on conditions of small business development. Studies have shown that, among other things, the major constraint for starting and running a business is a financial barrier. In the test environment, in overcoming that barrier, the credit guarantee funds and loan funds play a big role. The main sources of competitiveness of the surveyed companies are price, quality of customer service and quality of product or service. Despite the prevalence of various internal and external constraints, many companies assume stabilization or development of its activities. Entrepreneurs expect it mainly with the support of the local government and the local business environment and growth in demand associated with macroeconomic stability.

The article contains an overview of rural areas’ functions according to different criteria and an analysis of changes of these functions in the context of rural areas’ development. Declining role of agriculture with the growing role of other economic functions in these areas is accompanied by the growing importance of social and environmental functions. This is reflected, inter alia, in the development of settlements in rural areas, increasing ecological awareness, for the sake of landscaping and biodiversity, and in the development of technical and social infrastructure and the activity of local communities.

Celem badań była próba identyfikacji wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych uwarunkowań kształtowania pozycji konkurencyjnej, a tym samym podstaw rozwoju małych podmiotów gospodarczych. Badania przeprowadzono na próbie 102 mikro- i małych przedsiębiorstw działających w otoczeniu wiejskim i małomiasteczkowym. Zdaniem przedsiębiorców najważniejszym czynnikiem zewnętrznym warunkującym rozwój działalności jest stabilizacja makroekonomiczna, rozmiary popytu (poziom dochodów) ludności, a także wsparcie ze strony administracji samorządu terytorialnego. Za najważniejsze źródło konkurencyjności przedsiębiorcy uznali jakość produktów i usług. Na jej zapewnienie najczęściej przeznaczali nakłady inwestycyjne.
The aim of this study was the attempt to identify the external and internal conditions of shaping the competitive position of small companies. The study was conducted on a sample of 102 micro and small enterprises in rural and small-town environment. According to the entrepreneurs the most important external factor conditioning the business development is the macroeconomic stabilization, the size of the demand (level of income) of the population, as well as the support from the local government. Also, the entrepreneurs recognize the quality of products/services as the most important source of competitiveness and they allocate their investments most frequently for providing it.

Przedstawiono przesłanki utworzenia państwowych gospodarstw rolnych w sensie instytucjonalnym, ogólną charakterystykę ich działalności i zmian organizacyjnych w ponad 40-letnim okresie ich istnienia, a także przyczyny ich likwidacji. Mimo upływu 25 lat od decyzji o likwidacji państwowych gospodarstw rolnych, skutki ich istnienia i przekształceń nadal są istotnym elementem rzeczywistości społeczno-gospodarczej, zwłaszcza w regionach o dużym w przeszłości udziale sektora państwowego w rolnictwie. Oceny przyczyn i skutków likwidacji PGR-ów są nadal przedmiotem zróżnicowanych opinii, na co zwrócono także uwagę w opracowaniu.
This paper presents the indications of setting up the state-owned farms in the institutional sense, the general characteristics of their activities and the organizational changes in more than 40 years of their existence, as well as the reasons for their liquidation. Despite the passage of 25 years since the decision to liquidate the state-owned farms, the effects of their existence and transformations are still an important element of the socio-economic reality, especially in regions, in which the participation of the state sector in agriculture was high in the past. Assessing the causes and effects of the state-owned farms’ liquidation is still the subject of different opinions, which is also highlighted in this study.

The paper presents the results of research conducted among 46 owners/managers and 61 employees of companies belonging to the group of small and medium-sized enterprises. The extent and forms of employee participation in the assessment of both of these groups of employees were analysed. The results show the limited scope of participation in the analysed group of companies and significant differences in the perception of the needs of participation and its actual scope. Employees can rarely or never suggest new solutions or participate in solving the problems of the organization. Part of entrepreneurs claimed that such opportunities exist, but these claims were only declarative and were not confirmed in the management practice. Despite the somewhat critical assessment of the scope of participation, most employees are satisfied with their work and the way of managing the company in which they work. The entrepreneurs are aware of the positive consequences of the use of participatory management, however, probably because of the habits and preferred management style, they apply it to a limited extent. Differences in evaluations of participation by employees and employers and undoubtedly influenced by the situation on the labour market, which often inducts employers to treat their workers “objectively” and results in the dominance of the need for job security over other needs (including the need to experience the influence) of employees.

Postindustrial era (postmodernity) is characterized by the accumulated variability of management conditions. It concerns the implementation of all management functions in practical and theoretical terms. The relatively young age of management science as a separate discipline causes, on the one hand, that a lot of publications, concepts and ideas are produced and, on the other hand, there are difficulties in verification of their real value. Demand for ideas on how to ensure the development of organizations in terms of competitiveness and thickening the variability of action is also generated by business practice. As a result, there is constant verification of theories (and pratheories) and the practical solutions of management. The study contains an analysis of the sustainability of principles and paradigms as well as the causes and scope of the theory and practice of management.

Przedstawiono uogólnioną ocenę zakresu i stopnia zaawansowania zmian strukturalnych w regionach z dużym uprzednio udziałem własności państwowej w rolnictwie. Analiza obejmuje zmiany w strukturze gospodarczej, w tym w strukturze własnościowej, agrarnej, infrastrukturalnej, a także w strukturze przestrzennej i społecznej.
Winging up process of state-owned farms began almost 20 years ago and has not been fulfilled yet. One can observe different results of the liquidation, sometimes the effects are unintentional or even undesirable. Progression of the intentional effects can also be different. Liquidation effects manifest themselves in structural transformations concerning the ownership structure in agriculture, including popularisation of land tenancy, and also economic, infrastructural, spacial and social structure. This study includes generalized evaluation of the range and progression level of these transormations.

Celem badań była ocena stanu przedsiębiorczości oraz uwarunkowań jej rozwoju. Przedsiębiorczość gospodarcza, ze społecznego i ekonomicznego punktu widzenia, jest powszechnie uznawana za pożądane zjawisko. Jej rozwój jest uwarunkowany indywidualnymi (zdolnością do bycia przedsiębiorczym), społeczno-kulturowymi, instytucjonalnymi, ekonomicznymi i sytuacyjnymi czynnikami. Skoncentrowano się na ocenie poziomu przedsiębiorczości oraz na identyfikacji wymienionych uwarunkowań ten poziom kształtujących.
The aim of the study was to assess the state of entrepreneurship and its development determinants. Economic entrepreneurship is, from a social and economic view, commonly seen as a desired state. Its development is determined by individual (ability to be entrepreneurial), socio-cultural, institutional, economical and situational factors. This article concentrates on entrepreneurship level evaluation and on identifying the indicated condition, which determine that level.

This study identified the motives and factors which affect women starting business activities. The analysis was based on the results of an internet poll conducted in December 2018 among 110 female entrepreneurs conducting individual business activity in towns of various sizes. Different types of services dominated among the businesses conducted by women (78%), whereas trade activities were conducted by 17% of women and production-oriented businesses were conducted by only 5%. A large portion of females (20%) conducted activities combining two or three industry branches. According to the study, women started their business activity for personal reasons rather than out of necessity. Their decisions were motivated mainly by the need to have an opportunity for professional self-development, self-fulfilment and independence. The main problems when starting and running their businesses were difficulties in acquiring external funds, excessive non-salary labour costs and a limited availability of crèches and kindergartens. Despite various barriers and obstacles in running their businesses, over 90% of females in the poll forecast a development in their activities or expansion to new markets by investing in technology, self-development, personnel training or by expanding their product range. The share of women planning to develop their businesses is increasing with growing experience and the length of time a business is run.
Celem badań była identyfikacja motywów i uwarunkowań uruchamiania i prowadzenia samodzielnej działalności gospodarczej przez kobiety. Analizę oparto na wynikach internetowego sondażu ankietowego przeprowadzonego w grudniu 2018 roku wśród 110 przedsiębiorczyń prowadzących działalność gospodarczą na terenie miast różnej wielkości. Domeną działalności gospodarczej badanych kobiet były głównie różnego rodzaju usługi (78%). Działalność handlową prowadziło 17% kobiet, a działalność produkcyjną tylko 5%. Duża część respondentek (20%) łączyła działalność w dwóch, a nawet w trzech branżach. Badania wykazały między innymi, że kobiety częściej uruchamiały działalność gospodarczą z przyczyn wewnętrznych (z potrzeby) niż z konieczności, czyli przymusu. Głównym motywem decyzji o uruchomieniu tej działalności była potrzeba zapewnienia sobie możliwości rozwoju zawodowego, samorealizacji i niezależności. Jako najbardziej istotne problemy w uruchamianiu i prowadzeniu działalności gospodarczej respondentki wskazywały trudności w pozyskaniu zewnętrznych funduszy, zbyt wysokie pozapłacowe koszty pracy, ograniczoną dostępność żłobków i przedszkoli. Mimo różnych barier i utrudnień w prowadzeniu firmy, ponad 90% badanych kobiet przewiduje rozwój działalności i poszerzenie rynku między innymi przez inwestowanie w technologię, we własny rozwój i w rozwój pracowników oraz w poszerzanie asortymentu usług lub produktów. Udział przedsiębiorczyń zakładających rozwój działalności wzrasta wraz z nabywaniem doświadczenia i długością okresu prowadzenia firmy.

Opis:
In the scope of existing cooperation with the Foundry of Cast Iron ZM “WSK Rzeszów” Ltd. there was carried out research work of microstructure and mechanical properties in the walls of a cone casting made of ductile cast iron. The particular attention was being put to the search of the potential brittle phases which have deleterious effect on ductility and dynamic properties of highly strained use of the casting prone to the potential risk of cracks during the highly strained use.
