Finding healing power in plants is an ancient idea, and people of all continents and civilization have been using plants in one form or the other for poultices or as decoctions. Alangium salvifolium (Linn), family Alangeaceae, is a tree that grows in the wild throughout India. The plant has been used in the Indian traditional system of medicine for skin diseases (e.g. leucoderma), articular diseases, and anti-inflammation, anti-poisonous, anti-pyretic, and anti-emetic requirements. However, no scientific evidence is available regarding its antimicrobial activity. An investigation of Alangium salvifolium as an antimicrobial activity agent is the objective of our present study. The ATCC culture used in this study was collected from department of Microbiology, G.M.C., Bhopal (M.P.). Shade dried crude powder (200 grams) of seed of Alangium salvifolium was separately extracted with methanol in a soxhelt apparatus. The Antimicrobial activities were then studied by applying the Disc–Diffusion method. Our results indicate that the observed antimicrobial activity of the fraction appears to be due to unknown secondary metabolites in it. H.P.L.C. (high performance liquid chromatography) and chemical studies may, thus be useful in analyzing the presence of unknown secondary metabolites in the fractions.

Energy demand is increasing exponentially in the last decade. To meet such demand there is an urgent need to enhance the power generation capacity of the electrical power generation system worldwide. A combined-cycle gas turbines power plant is an alternative to replace the existing steam/gas electric power plants. The present study is an attempt to investigate the effect of different parameters to optimize the performance of the combined cycle power plant. The input physical parameters such as pressure ratio, air fuel ratio and a fraction of combustible product to heat recovery heat exchanger via gas turbine were varied to determine the work output, thermal efficiency, and exergy destruction. The result of the present study shows that for maximum work output, thermal efficiency as well as total exergy destruction, extraction of combustible gases from the passage of the combustion chamber and gas turbine for heat recovery steam generator is not favorable. Work output and thermal efficiency increase with an increase in pressure ratio and decrease in air fuel ratio but for minimum total exergy destruction, the pressure ratio should be minimum and air fuel ratio should be maximum.

This article will describe a previously unknown helmet in the Musee d’Art Classique de Mougins (MACM) in southern France. The helmet is of the “bandhelm” variety and is decorated with heraldic motifs plus silvered rivets. The helmet bears some resemblance to known helmets from Cheragh Ali Tepe / Amlash but also differs in several crucial ways. In the light of this new example, a new typology of Sasanian helmets and some novel insights on the development of Sasanian helmets is also offered.

Opis:
The main objective of this article is to present a mathematical model for peristaltic transport in an inclined annulus. In this analysis, two-dimensional flow of a viscous nanofluid is observed in an inclined annulus with variable viscosity. Copper as nanoparticle with blood as its base fluid has been considered. The inner tube is unifom or rigid, while the outer tube takes a sinusoidal wave. Governing equations are solved under the well-known assumptions of low Reynolds number and long-wavelength. Exact solutions have been established for both velocity and nanoparticle temperature. The features of the peristaltic motion are explored by plotting graphs and discussed in detail.

The present study brings to light a new Sasanian mace in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England, acquired in 1971 from the Bomford Collection. The bronze mace head is in the shape of three ram heads, has an iron shaft, and a bronze pommel in the shape of a hand holding a ball. The mace incorporates several important decorative motifs – the ram heads which can be linked to the royal farr and to Central Asian visual language; the pearl necklace which is another symbol of the royal farr, and the triple dot motif which may have links to the star Tishtriya, to Apam Napat, or to Buddhist symbolism. In addition to these elements there is the hand motif, whose meaning is still unknown but might be linked to Asian symbolic hand gestures. The mace or scepter was an important element of royalty and of religion in Iran and Central Asia and the example in the Ashmolean museum is an important addition in the study of Iranian visual language and royal image in the specific context of Indo-Iranian mutual influence. In the present authors' opinion, the present mace is likely to date, based on relations with other objects, from the 5th - 7th Centuries and is likely to originate from Eastern-Iran or is rooted in Eastern-Iranian artistic tradition.

The current study examined the impact of influential factors innovation capability and competitiveness on entrepreneurial orientation. Entrepreneurial orientation leads towards business success, the study examined the influence of entrepreneurial orientation on business performance with moderating role of entrepreneurial education. The present study collected data from professional entrepreneurs with different experience and industries in South Korea. The study depicted that all direct hypotheses were accepted but moderating role was rejected on statistical grounds. Entrepreneurial activities escalate business activity through utilization of capable and competitive workforce. South Korea shifting their industry based economy towards entrepreneurial setups to strengthen their economy and to utilize the educated unemployed youth. Entrepreneurship provides business opportunities on creative and innovative grounds to contribute for nations' economy.
W przedstawionym artykule pokazano wpływ wpływających czynników na innowacyjność i konkurencyjność na zorientowanie na przedsiębiorczość. Orientacja na przedsiębiorczość prowadzi do sukcesu w biznesie, w badaniu zbadano wpływ orientacji na przedsiębiorczość oraz na wyniki biznesowe z moderującą rolą edukacji w zakresie przedsiębiorczości. W niniejszym badaniu zebrano dane od profesjonalnych przedsiębiorców z różnym doświadczeniem i branżami w Korei Południowej. Badanie pokazało, że wszystkie bezpośrednie hipotezy zostały zaakceptowane, ale moderująca rola została odrzucona ze względów statystycznych. Działalność przedsiębiorcza prowadzi do eskalacji działalności gospodarczej poprzez wykorzystanie zdolnej i konkurencyjnej siły roboczej. Korea Południowa zmienia gospodarkę opartą na przemyśle na rozwiązania przedsiębiorcze, aby wzmocnić swoją gospodarkę i wykorzystać wykształconą bezrobotną młodzież. Przedsiębiorczość zapewnia możliwości biznesowe w oparciu o kreatywne i innowacyjne podstawy, przyczyniając się do rozwoju gospodarki narodowej.

The three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid over a stretching surface set into a porous medium with variable thermal conductivity and heat generation/absorption has been researched. Conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy are changed into ordinary differential equations, which are numerically dealt with by applying the fourth order Runge-Kutta integration scheme in relationship with shooting procedure. The dimensionless velocity, temperature, skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number inside the boundary layer are processed and examined through tables and illustrations for various physical parameters. The numerical outcomes obtained for the specific case are sensible in great concurrence with the existing results. Results indicate that momentum boundary layer reduces for the Hartman number and Casson fluid parameter. Temperature is found as an enlightened function for the heat generation and thermal conductivity parameter.

This research paper mainly aims to identify and analyse irrational factors that impact consumers’ purchase intention, especially in the fashion industry. The data for this study were collected from 205 consumers of various nationalities via an online self-administered questionnaire. The acquired data were put through a thorough process to establish their relevance and to ensure that the data were ready for further analysis by applying the SPSS & AMOS software. Three irrational factors were extracted from the extant literature, namely, media, social impact, and emotions. These factors are reported to have a positive infl uence on the consumer’s purchase intention. First, a descriptive analysis was undertaken followed by an inferential analysis. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the fi tness of the proposed model and also to test the hypotheses. Two out of the total three hypotheses are supported. In this case, media infl uence and social infl uence emerged with a signifi cant positive impact on the consumer’s purchase intention. Even though emotions infl uence resulted in a positive impact, it was not statistically signifi cant and does not relate to the consumer’s purchase intention in the fashion industry. The fi ndings of this study have signifi cant contribution to the body of knowledge and practice. Marketing research, in general, and consumer research, in particular, will benefi t from the contribution of this research. Similarly, policy makers in the fashion industry may adopt the fi ndings of the present study to devise more eff ective marketing strategies. Indeed, this research highlights that the consumer’s purchase intention is not entirely in response to a particular phenomenon but a multitude of so-called “irrational” factors like media, society, and emotions.

The use of form tools is growing in industry, owing to their inherent advantage of improving productivity. However, the accurate formation of form tool profile is a really tedious task. In this research work, wire electric discharge machining (WEDM) process has been used for the generation of a form tool. Pulse on-time, pulse off-time, servo voltage, wire tension, flushing pressure have been considered as input parameters, whereas tool geometry (clearance angle, included angle), surface roughness and material removal rate are the selected responses. Response surface methodology (RSM) (Box Bhenken experimental design) technique has been used for design of experiments. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) has shown that pulse on-time and pulse off-time are the two influential control factors for material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness (Ra), clearance angle and included angle. Contour plot analysis has been performed to find out the optimal ranges of the most influential control factors for each response characteristics.

The article presents a comparative analysis of the properties of cotton yarn spun on three pneumatic compact spinning systems Rieter® K-44, Suessen® Elite and Toyota® RX-240. Combed compact cotton yarn with a linear density of 10 tex was spun on these compact spinning systems using medium staple cotton. The roving processed had the same technological and kinematical parameters. The quality parameters such as mass irregularity, the imperfection index (IPI), hairiness and tensile behavior of the compact spun yarns were tested and analysed. The results revealed that K-44 compact spun yarn had less mass variation, a low IPI value, less hairiness and high tensile properties compared to the other compact spinning systems employed in the present work.
Artykuł przedstawia analizę porównawczą właściwości fizycznych przędz bawełnianych wyprzędzionych trzema różnymi systemami na przędzarkach Rieter® K-44, Suessen® Elite oraz na przędzarce Toyota® RX-240. Wyprzędziono przędze bawełnianą kompaktową o masie liniowej 10 tex z bawełny średnio-włóknistej. Użyty do wytworzenia tych przędz niedoprzęd otrzymano stosując jednakowe parametry technologiczne. Testowano i analizowano takie właściwości fizyczne przędz kompaktowych jak: współczynnik zmienności masy liniowej, indeks imperfekcji (IPI) obejmujący liczbę pocienień, zgrubień i nopów, włochatość oraz właściwości wytrzymałościowe. Analiza uzyskanych rezultatów dowiodła, że przędze wytworzone na przędzarce kompaktowej Rieter® K-44 charakteryzują się mniejszą zmiennością masy, małą imperfekcją, niską włochatością oraz wysokimi właściwościami wytrzymałościowymi w porównaniu do innych badanych systemów przędzenia kompaktowego.

Prediction of soft soil sub-grades settlement has been a big challenge for geotechnical engineers that are responsible for the design of roadbed embankment. The characteristics of low strength, poor permeability, high water contents, and high compressibility are dominant in soft soils, which result in a huge settlement in the case of long-term loading. The settlement prediction in soft soil subgrades of Jiehui Expressway A1, Guangdong, China, is the focus of this study. For this purpose, the necessary data of settlement is collected throughout the project execution. The numerical analysis is conducted by using the Richards model based on Linear Least Squares Iteration (LLS-I) method to calculate and predict the expected settlement. The traditional settlement prediction methods, including the hyperbolic method, exponential curve method, and pearl curve method, are applied on field settlement data of soft soil subgrades of Jiehui Expressway A1. The results show that the Richards model based on Linear Least Squares Iteration (LLS-I) method has high precision, and it has proven to be a better option for settlement prediction of soft soil sub-grades. The model analysis indicates that the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) can be minimized as compared to other soft soil sub-grades settlement prediction methods. Hence, Richards's model-based LLS-I method has a capability for simulation and settlement prediction of soft soil subgrades.

This investigation enumerates the treatment of phenol contaminated synthetic wastewater by Activated Waste Tea Leaves (AWTL). Phosphoric acid was used for the modification of waste tea leaves. The effects of initial pH, biosorbent dose, contact time, and initial phenol concentration were studied on the phenol uptake from the synthetic solution. Kinetic modelling was performed using pseudo 1st and 2nd order kinetics. The Langmuir and Freundlich’s Models were employed to interpret the AWTL behaviour at various mass transfer gradients. The results show that the optimum values for pH, biosorbent dose and contact time were 2.2 g/L and 180 minutes, respectively. Pseudo 2nd order kinetic and the Langmuir’s Models best described the kinetic and equilibrium behaviours, respectively.

The present study was focused on the technical feasibility of using immobilized hybrid biomass of Pleurotos sajor-caju and sunflower for Pb(II) removal from the contaminated water. After preliminary evaluation, it was found that immobilized hybrid biomass of Pleurotos sajor-caju and sun-flower effectively removed Pb(II) from wastewater at pH 4.5. The effect of various experimental parameters on Pb(II) uptake by hybrid biosorbent was systematically evaluated in a batch biosorption system. The optimized biosorbent dose, contact time, initial metal concentration and temperature were 0.05 g/100 cm 3, 180 min, 800 mg/dm3 and 60 °C. Dynamics of the adsorption process were studied, and the values of rate constants of pseudo first order and pseudo second order kinetic models were calculated. Equilibrium isotherms for the adsorption of Pb(II) were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The sorption of Pb(II) followed the pseudo second order kinetic model. The Langmuir sorption isotherm fitted well to Pb(II) concentration data. The results revealed that this new hybrid biosorbent system was a promising candidate for eliminating Pb(II) from contaminated aquatic environment.

Opis:
Minimal neighbour designs (NDs) are used when a response of a treatment (direct effect) is affected by the treatment(s) applied in the neighbouring units. Minimal generalised NDs are preferred when minimal NDs cannot be constructed. Through the method of cyclic shifts (Rule I), the conditions for the existence of minimal circular generalised NDs are discussed, in which v/2 unordered pairs do not appear as neighbours. Certain generators are also developed to obtain minimal circular generalised NDs in blocks of two different sizes, where k2 = 3, 4 and 5. All these designs are constructed using i sets of shifts for k1 and two for k2.

Opis:
The Muskingham method uses two formulas to describe the translation of flow surges in a river bed. The continuity formula is the first formula, while the relationship between the reach’s storage, inflow, and outflow is the second formula (the discharge storage formula); these formulas are applied to a portion of the river between two river cross sections. Several methods can be utilized to estimate the model’s parameters. This section contrasts the conventional graphic approach with three numerical methods: Genetic algorithm, Exponential regression, and Classical fourth-order Runge-Kutta. This application’s most noticeable plus point was the need to employ a few hydrological variables, such as intake, output, and duration. The location of the Euphrates entrance to the Iraqi territory in Husaybah city was chosen with its hydrological data during the period (1993-2017) to conduct this study. The goal function is established by accuracy criterion approaches (Sum of squares error and sum of squared deviations). Depending on the simulation findings, the suggested predictive flood routing ideawas highly acceptable with the prospect of adopting the Genetic Expression Programming model as a suitable and more accurate replacement to existing methods such as the Muskingum model and other numerical models, where this method gave results (R2 = 0.9984, SSQ = 1.06, SSSD = 80.75), These results achieved a hydrograph that is largely identical to what was given by the hydrological method called Muskingham.
