The paper provides statistical analysis of the photographs of four various granular materials (peas, pellets, triticale, wood chips). For analysis, the (parametric) ANOVA and the (nonparametric) Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied. Additionally, the (parametric) two-sample t-test and (non-parametric) Wilcoxon Rank-Sum Test for pairwise comparisons were performed. In each case, the Bonferroni correction was used. The analysis shows a statistical evidence of the presence of differences between the respective average discrete pixel intensity distributions (PID), induced by the histograms in each group of photos, which cannot be explained only by the existing differences among single granules of different materials. The proposed approach may contribute to the development of a fast inspection method for comparison and discrimination of granular materials differing from the reference material, in the production process.

Opis:
Standard treatment for ovarian cancer is systemic therapy; as a rule it comprises surgical excision, chemotherapy and, in selected cases, radiotherapy. The scope of the surgical excision and its relation to chemotherapy recently underwent certain changes. On the one hand, the use of taxanes and platinum derivates has enhanced the role of chemotherapy; on the other hand, progress in surgery has enabled what only a few years ago were limitations to be overcome. Already in the 1970s, a link was suggested between the completeness of the surgical excision and the prolongation of the time period for both overall and progression-free survival. Now after the publication of several randomized trials, a direct correlation has been made between complete cytoreduction performed during the primary surgery and the prolongation of the time period for both overall and progression-free survival. It appears that non-resectability depends mainly on the experience of the surgeon and the degree of infiltration of the bowels and superior mesenteric vessels and bile ducts. Imaging studies are of no use in determining the resectability of lesions. Consequently, patients should not be qualified for lymphadenectomy based solely on the results of imaging studies. Systemic excision of pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes is a permanent component of the surgical treatment of ovarian cancer in: 1) patients in the early clinical stages within the scope of staging; 2) patients with clinically positive nodes as a component of cytoreduction; 3) patients after complete cytoreduction as a prognosis-improving factor.
Standardem w leczeniu raka jajnika jest leczenie systemowe, którego stałe elementy to leczenie chirurgiczne i chemioterapia oraz, w pewnych przypadkach, radioterapia. Zakres leczenia chirurgicznego oraz jego stosunek do chemioterapii podlegał w ostatnich latach pewnym zmianom. Z jednej strony zastosowanie taksanów i pochodnych platyny sprawiło, że wzrosło znaczenie chemioterapii, z drugiej postęp w chirurgii pozwolił przekroczyć nieosiągalne wcześniej granice. Już w latach 70. ubiegłego stulecia zasugerowano istnienie związku pomiędzy radykalnością leczenia chirurgicznego a wydłużeniem całkowitego przeżycia i wydłużeniem okresu wolnego od wznowy. Obecnie po opublikowaniu wyniku szeregu randomizowanych badań stwierdzono bezpośrednią zależność pomiędzy całkowitą cytoredukcją przeprowadzoną podczas pierwotnej operacji a wydłużeniem całkowitego przeżycia i wydłużeniem okresu wolnego od wznowy. Wydaje się, iż nieresekcyjność zależy głównie od doświadczenia chirurga i stopnia zajęcia naczyń krezkowych górnych oraz wnęki wątroby. Badania obrazowe nie znajdują zastosowania w określeniu resekcyjności zmian. Podobnie na podstawie wyników badań obrazowych nie powinno się kwalifikować chorych do usunięcia węzłów chłonnych. Systemowe usunięcie węzłów chłonnych miednicznych i okołoaortalnych to stały element chirurgicznego leczenia raka jajnika: 1) we wczesnych przypadkach raka jajnika – jako element określania stadium zaawansowania; 2) w przypadku klinicznie dodatnich węzłów – jako element cytoredukcji; 3) u chorych, u których wykonano całkowitą cytoredukcję – jako czynnik poprawiający rokowanie.

Opis:
Cosmogenic radionuclides in meteoroids are produced in space in the process of activation. These nuclides have various lifetimes in range from a few days to several hundred thousand years and can therefore be helpful in solving several problems related to the study of meteoroids and their remains, both in space and on the Earth. The simplest application of cosmogenic radionuclide decay in meteorites is to determine the terrestrial age of meteorites, especially those whose fall has not been observed. In this article, we present an additional application of cosmogenic radionuclide measurements, namely for the verification of origin of rocks that show equivocal features and may potentially represent meteorites.

The Polish Fireball Network (PFN), has been undergoing continuous development. Since then, several large grants have been obtained, which were at least partly used for modernization purposes. In recent years, two more grants have been obtained, which allowed for the expansion and modification of the existing PFN infrastructure. In 2021, the PFN76 Kozienice was modernized, but also the PFN14 Zielona Góra station was reactivated and the new PFN77 Suhora station was launched in 2022. Thanks to these improvements, the tracking of meteoroids entering the Earth Atmosphere above Poland became more accurate, which facilitates the search for meteorites and increases the chances of finding new fresh meteorites in Poland. On the night of May 10, 2021, PFN stations registered an exceptionally slow bolide. The phenomenon named PF100521 Wykrot appeared over central Poland in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship at 21:32 UT and calculations showed that some meteorites may have fallen. This phenomenon was used to conduct a series of analyzes to show how observational uncertainties affect the final results. Two variants of the results are presented in this work.

Test anxiety is an obstacle that may influence education and professional life. Currently, the remote form of learning is widespread. Thus, a need for measuring test anxiety in an online setting appeared. The paper describes a validation process of a Polish adaptation of the Online Test Anxiety Inventory (OTAI). Three hundred thirty-nine students participated in the study. The confirmatory factor analysis showed a similar structure to the original study (Alibak et al., 2019). The inventory consists of three scales: psychological, physiological, and online. Results of a study indicated the validity of the Polish version of OTAI: we found gender differences and statistically significant correlations with self-esteem as well as with math anxiety. Moreover, we observed high internal consistency of scales and their high test-retest reliability. Based on these results, we argue that OTAI-PL can be considered a valid and reliable inventory, which allows online test anxiety measurement and can be particularly useful in times of pandemic and the pressure on the online form of education.
Lęk przed testami jest przeszkodą, która może utrudniać osiąganie pozytywnych wyników w nauce – zarówno w procesie kształcenia, jak i w życiu zawodowym. Wobec upowszechnienia się w ostatnim czasie zdalnej formy nauczania może się pojawić potrzeba pomiaru lęku przed testami online z wykorzystaniem odpowiedniego narzędzia. W niniejszym badaniu dokonano adaptacji skali mierzącej lęk przed testami w formie online (OTAI) do warunków polskich. W badaniu wzięło udział 339 studentów. Na podstawie istotnych statystycznie korelacji wyniku w teście OTAI-PL z samooceną i lękiem przed matematyką, istotnymi statystycznie różnicami międzypłciowymi oraz rezultatami konfirmacyjnej analizy czynnikowej wykazano, że utworzone narzędzie było trafne. Podobnie jak w oryginalnym badaniu (Alibak i in., 2019) polska wersja narzędzia miała trójczynnikową strukturę. Kwestionariusz składa się z trzech skal: psychologicznej, fizjologicznej i związanej z edukacją zdalną. Rzetelność skali potwierdzają wysokie wartości spójności wewnętrznej oraz stabilności bezwzględnej. Na podstawie otrzymanych rezultatów można uznać OTAI-PL za trafne i rzetelne narzędzie umożliwiające pomiar lęku przed testami online wśród polskich studentów. Opracowane narzędzie może być szczególnie przydatne w czasach pandemii i nacisku na zdalną formę nauczania.

The study examines the concept of decentralised composting of bio-waste as an alternative approach to current waste management practices, using the Łódź Agglomeration (Poland) as an exemplary case study. Consequently, the aim of the presented research is to compare and discuss the sustainability of the functioning biowaste management system (status quo) against an alternative solution based on decentralised composting. Combined application of process-based life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) was selected as the methodology to compare the sustainability framework for the waste management practices under analysis. The study has made it clear that decentralised composting of bio-waste offers broader environmental, economic and social benefits, albeit with the level of that benefit being very much correlated with the type of local government area (commune or in Polish gmina). Regardless of the impact category, rural and urban–rural gminas achieved the greatest savings, reaching >90%, and thus are seen to offer the greatest potential for decentralised composting to be put into effect, on the basis of household/backyard composting. In consequence, decentralised composting can constitute a fundamental form of bio-waste management in 20 out of the 28 gminas of the Łódź Agglomeration. The results obtained from the research facilitate the implementation and wider utilisation of decentralised composting, as an important element of the transition to a circular economy, where bio-waste is concerned.

This article concerns the use of an integrated RFID system with a mobile robot for the navigation and mapping of closed spaces. The architecture of a prototype mobile robot equipped with a set of RFID readers that performs the mapping functions is described. Laboratory tests of the robot have been carried out using a test stand equipped with a grid of appropriately programmed RFID transponders. A simulation model of the effectiveness of transponder reading by the robot has been prepared. The conclusions from measurements and tests are discussed, and methods for improving the solution are proposed.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate pain reduction as the main parameter for monitoring improvements in Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in a female patient following endovascular treatment of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS). A 38-year-old female patient with chronic intermittent, “dragging” abdominal pain, lasting more than two years, mainly in the lower abdomen, radiating to the sacral region, underwent SARS CoV-2 infection in October 2021, and COVID-19, which lasted 10 days. Eight months later, complaints of pain in the lower abdominal area, during the menstrual cycle, during prolonged standing, after sports activities and during and after intercourse, increased. The patient was compelled to begin diagnosis of these complaints due to the severe pain and concerns about whether she had contracted cancer of the cervix uteri. She was diagnosed on transvaginal ultrasound-Doppler and Angio-MR of the pelvic vessels with PCS. Treatment was undertaken at the Department of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Interventions, St. John Paul II Hospital, Krakow, Poland. Intraoperatively, after confirmation through selective angiography, of previously diagnosed insufficiency of the left ovarian vein (LOV) and of the parametrial veins (PMV), the selective obliteration was performed with an adhesive dedicated to endovascular closure of veins and vascular malformations (Glubran®2). The range of pain intensity, according to theVisual Analogue Scale (VAS), in Exam. 1 (before surgery), was in the premenstrual period (BM) 7.0 points, which increased during menstruation (DM) or after intense activity (AIA) to 8.0 points, and occasionally during and after intercourse even to 9.0 points. These values were very high, indicating that pain significantly affected the patient's quality of life. The extent of pain severity decreased significantly in Study 2 (two months after surgery) and Study 3 (four months after surgery) and was 2.0 points in the premenstrual period (BM), which increased only slightly during menstruation (DM) or after intense activity (AIA) to 3.0 points, and decreased again to 2.0 points during and after intercourse. The patient reported that the procedure significantly and positively affected her functioning in daily life, especially in caring for a young child, which is evidence of the achievement of HRQoL improvement. Endovascular treatment for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) was effective in reducing pain and improving the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of a patient with PCS.

Podczas wojny i okupacji w wielu miejscach, w których przebywali Polacy powstawały chóry i zespoły śpiewacze. Na ich potrzeby zostały wydane na obczyźnie śpiewniki z polskimi kolędami w opracowaniach na chór a cappella. Śpiewnikom tym poświęcony jest niniejszy artykuł. W l. 1940–46 w Villard-de-Lans koło Grenoble działało polskie Gimnazjum i Liceum im. C. Norwida. Na potrzeby chóru szkolnego, prowadzonego przez Ernesta Bergera (1904–58), matematyka i dyrektora szkoły powstał Zbiór pieśni kościelnych E. Bergera (Villard de Lans 1941). Rudolf Rygiel (1910–86), uczestnik kampanii wrześniowej, w 1940 r. dotarł do Francji, gdzie włączył się czynnie do działalności ruchu oporu oraz działał jako dyrygent i kompozytor. W 1941 r. wydał trzeci zeszyt Echa ojczystego zawierający dwadzieścia trzy kolędy na chór męski a cappella. Jednym z najważniejszych polskich zespołów w Wielkiej Brytanii był założony w 1940 r. Chór Wojska Polskiego. Z chórem pracował m.in. Henryk Hosowicz (1910–69), który na potrzeby zespołu wydał dwa śpiewniki kolędowe na czterogłosowy chór męski a cappella: 16 kolęd (1940) i 50 kolend (1942). W 1944 r. w Jerozolimie nakładem Ministerstwa Wyznań Religijnych i Oświecenia Publicznego wydany został obszerny Zbiór pieśni polskich w opracowaniu Juliusza Leo (1901–62), który zawiera 180 utworów: 150 świeckich i 30 religijnych. W grudniu 1945 r. Sekcja Wydawnicza 2 Korpusu wydała zbiór kolęd na chór męski a cappella w przedwojennych opracowaniach Kazimierza Garbusińskiego i Gerarda Płachetki. Autor zbioru Kolendy polskie (1945), ppor. Feliks Kapała (ur. 1909), był weteranem walk nad Bzurą, a potem jeńcem Oflagu VIIA Murnau. W zbiorze Kapały znajduje się dwadzieścia pięć kolęd w różnych układach. Kompozytor Szymon Laks (1901–83) w czasie wojny był więźniem obozu w Oświęcimiu. Zbiór pt. Pięć kolęd został wydany już po wojnie przez Związek Polskich Kół Muzyczno-Teatralnych we Francji. Omówienie wymienionych wojennych wydań kolęd na zespoły chóralne jest przyczynkiem do historii polskiej tradycji muzycznej.
Choirs and vocal ensembles sprang up in many places where Poles lived or stayed during the war and military occupation of Poland. It was for their needs that songbooks comprising arrangements of Polish Christmas carols for unaccompanied choir were published in exile. The present paper is dedicated to these songbooks. A Polish junior and senior high school named after Cyprian Kamil Norwid operated in 1940–46 at Villard-de-Lans near Grenoble. For the needs of the school choir, led by mathematician Ernest Berger (1904–58), the school’s director, his edition of Zbiór pieśni kościelnych [A collection of church songs] was published in 1941 at Villard de Lans. Rudolf Rygiel (1910–86), a soldier in the 1939 Polish defensive war, reached France in 1940, where he became an active member of the resistance movement, as well as working as a conductor and composer. In 1941 he published the third fascicle of Echo ojczyste [Fatherland echo], which comprised twenty-three carols for male unaccompanied choir. The Polish Army Choir, one of the main Polish ensembles in the UK, founded in 1940, collaborated with, among others, Henryk Hosowicz (1910–69), who published for the needs of this ensemble two collections of Christmas carols for 4-part male unaccompanied choir: 16 kolęd [16 carols] (1940) and 50 kolęd [50 carols] (1942). An extensive Zbiór pieśni polskich [Collection of Polish songs] (ed. Juliusz Leo, 1901–62) was published in 1944 in Jerusalem under the imprint of the Polish Ministry of Religious Affairs and Public Education (in exile). It contains 180 works: 150 secular and 30 sacred pieces. In December 1945 the Second Polish Corps publishing section printed a collection of carols for male unaccompanied choir in pre-war arrangements by Kazimierz Garbusiński and Gerard Płachetko. Second lieutenant Feliks Kapała (b. 1909), veteran of the Battle of the Bzura and subsequently a POW at Oflag VIIA Murnau, is the author of Kolędy polskie [Polish carols] (1945), a set of 25 variously scored carols. Composer Szymon Laks (1901–83), an Auschwitz prisoner during the war, had his Pięć kolęd [Five carols] published, already after World War II, by the Union of Polish Music and Theatre Clubs in France. My discussion of the above-listed choral editions of Christmas carols is a contribution to the history of Polish music traditions.

Kolędy i ich rola w polskiej kulturze szczególnie w okresie klęski militarnej kraju czy na obczyźnie to temat artykułu. Wspomnienia osób bliskich, tradycyjnych potraw i obyczajów, marzenia o domu to uczucia towarzyszące polskiemu żołnierzowi walczącemu poza granicami kraju lub zamkniętemu w obozie. Wszystko to ożywało wraz z melodiami polskich kolęd. Z potrzeby serca i zapewnienia repertuaru Polacy wydali na obczyźnie kilka kolędowych śpiewników chóralnych. Do najsławniejszych należał „Zbiór pieśni kościelnych”, wydany w 1941 w Villard-de-Lans we Francji Vichy przez Ernesta W. Bergera, dyrektora polskiego liceum i gimnazjum im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida koło Grenoble. Kolejnym były 3 zeszyty Rudolfa Rygiela pt. „Echo Ojczyste” także wydane we Francji w 1941 roku. Podczas wojny bardzo rozbudowany był polski ruch śpiewaczy na terenie Wielkiej Brytanii. Jednym z najbardziej znanych zespołów był Chór Wojska Polskiego założony w Szkocji, dyrygowany często przez Henryka Hosowicza. Był on autorem obszernego śpiewnika (wydany w 1942) zawierającego 50 kolęd na czterogłosowy chór męski a capella. Podobne zbiory kolęd i pieśni polskich ukazały się w Jerozolimie (1944), w Bari (w 1945) czy w Murnau (1945) i Paryżu (1945).

The paper presents a new method of determining the energy consumption for vibratory crushing. Using the laboratory vibratory jaw crusher with kinematic actuation of the jaws, the study of determining power consumption while crushing limestone and diabase was conducted. During the study, electrical energy used on the crushing process was measured as a function of changing design and kinematic parameters of the vibratory crusher, i.e.: jaws stroke, the outlet gap size and frequency of jaws vibration. The article presents program of the research, the laboratory test stand of the vibratory jaw crusher KW 40/1 and the test results. Comparing the theoretical crushing energy requirements, determined by the Bond hypothesis, with the values measured during tests a large differences were observed. Using the Bond hypothesis the Vibratory Work Indexes were determined for the tested materials. Their values are higher than limestone and diabase Work Indexes available in the known literatures. The explanation may be greater amount of energy transferred to the material during vibratory crushing, which results in much higher efficiency of the crushing process.
