Opis:
After reviewing the study conducted by Marszałek et al. [1], which focuses on physical activity as a supportive form for emotional intelligence in the treatment of depressive disorders, we believe that this work addresses a topic of significant importance to both physicians and patients – the utility of physical activity in preventing and treating depression. Depression is a leading mental illness, causing disability worldwide. From 1990 to 2017, the global incidence of depression increased by almost 50% [2]. Limited social awareness causes delayed reporting of patients to specialists and delayed treatment. Depression often leads to suicidal acts among the affected individuals, with suicides being one of the main causes of death among young people. The primary methods of treating this condition include antidepressant medication and psychotherapy alone or in combination. Due to the constant rise in incidences, it is necessary to explore new treatment possibilities and prevent the development of depression [3].

Aim. The paper presents the result of research how people study in older age. Method. The method of biographical research was used. The research presented was embedded in the strand of qualitative research in an interpretative paradigm, in which cognitive science places emphasis on the subject who is learning. In recruiting subjects for research intentional selection was used, based on the typical cases method. One of the basic criteria for selection of candidates was an intention to undertake educational activity. In effect, 12 people participated in my research – 8 women and 4 men. Results. In the biographies analysed, education proceeds in both non-formal and informal areas, so both these area merge with each other and complement each other. The return line of education in late adulthood is characteristic for those biographies in which learning occurs above all in the area of non-formal education. These seniors usually undertake learning in institutions with an educational character which are aimed at that age group, such as the University of the Third Age, Seniors’ Academy, or various kinds of EU training whose beneficiaries are older people. On the other hand, those whose biographies take the form of continued education in late adulthood realise their goals most effectively in informal education. In this area, the most frequent form of activity is self-education. This is undertaken by those who have a previous knowledge of the subject, but were unable to dedicate themselves to it fully because of their professional work.

Opis:
We recently read an interesting article by Yad Di et al. [1] describing the impact of a meat-based diet on gastrointestinal cancers. We were particularly intrigued by its implications for colorectal cancer. Meat-based diets continue to be one of the most commonly adopted eating patterns. In our opinion, this article addresses an important issue, and the analysis of the relationship between colorectal cancer and meat consumption may promote a shift towards a vegetarian diet. As known, colorectal is one of the most prevalent cancers, and a modifiable factor influencing its occurrence is diet. In this scientific study [1], 40 cohorts covering a total of 3,780,590 individuals were selected. Analyses indicated that higher consumption of red meat was associated with an increased risk of both colon and rectal cancer. This association has also been investigated by other researchers. A study conducted by Bernstein et al. demonstrated a strong correlation between the amount and frequency of meat consumption and colorectal cancer [2,3]. Additionally, studies have noted that increased consumption of grilled, stewed, or processed red meat also raises the risk of colorectal cancer [4].
