Opis:
The evaluation with the use of neuroscience methods and tools of a student’s satisfaction – happiness from using the e-learning system (e-learning platforms, e-games, simulators) poses an important research subject matter. In the present paper, it is presented a research on course conducted in the Marine Training Centre of Piraeus. In particular, this research with the use of a neuroscience tools-gaze tracker and voice recording (lexical analysis), investigates the amount of satisfaction of the students using Engine room simulator (ERS 5L90MCL11, Kongsberg 2003 AS) and ECDIS system by monitoring the users’ eye movement and speech in combination with the use of qualitative and quantitative methods. The ultimate goal of this research is to find and test the critical factors that influence the educational practice and user satisfaction of e-learning marine systems and the ability to conduct full-time system control by the marine crew.

On a complex separable (necessarily infinite-dimensional) Hilbert space H any three subspaces K, L and M satisfying K∩M = (0), K∨L = H and L⊂M give rise to what has been called by Halmos [4,5] a pentagon subspace lattice $P={(0),K,L,M,H}$. Then n = dim M ⊖ L is called the gap-dimension of P. Examples are given to show that, if n < ∞, the order-interval $[L,M]_{Lat Alg P} = {N ∈ Lat Alg P: L ⊆ N ⊆ M}$ in Lat Alg P can be either (i) a nest with n+1 elements, or (ii) an atomic Boolean algebra with n atoms, or (iii) the set of all subspaces of H between L and M. For n > 1, since Lat Alg P = P∩[L,M]_{Lat Alg P}$, all such examples of pentagons are non-reflexive, the examples in case (iii) extremely so.

Let M and N be nonzero subspaces of a Hilbert space H satisfying M ∩ N = {0} and M ∨ N = H and let T ∈ ℬ(H). Consider the question: If T leaves each of M and N invariant, respectively, intertwines M and N, does T decompose as a sum of two operators with the same property and each of which, in addition, annihilates one of the subspaces? If the angle between M and N is positive the answer is affirmative. If the angle is zero, the answer is still affirmative for finite rank operators but there are even trace class operators for which it is negative. An application gives an alternative proof that no distance estimate holds for the algebra of operators leaving M and N invariant if the angle is zero, and an analogous result is obtained for the set of operators intertwining M and N.

Opis:
Formal safety assessment of ships has attracted great attention over the last few years. This paper, following a brief review of the current status of marine safety assessment is focused on the hazards identification (HAZID) and prioritisation process. A multicriteria decision making framework, which is based on experts‟ estimation, is then proposed for hazards evaluation. Additionally in this paper many aspects of the evaluation framework are presented including the synthesis of evaluation teams, the assessment of the importance of criteria, the evaluation of the consequences of the alternative hazards and the final ranking of the hazards. The proposed methodology has the innovative feature of embodying techniques of fuzzy logic theory into the classical multicriteria decision analysis. The paper concludes by exploring the potentiality of the above methodology in providing a robust and flexible evaluation framework suitable to the characteristics of a hazard evaluation problem.
