Opis:
In the present business environment, rapidly developing technology and the competitive world market pose challenges to the available assets of industries. Hence, industries need to allocate and use available assets at the optimum level. Thus, industrialists must create a good decision plan to guide their performance in the production sector. As a result, the present study applies the Meta-Goal Programming technique to attain several objectives simultaneously in the textile production sector. The importance of this study lies in pursuing different objectives simultaneously, which has been almost ignored till now. The production scheduling problem in a textile firm is used to illustrate the practicability and mathematical validity of the suggested approach. Analysis of the results obtained demonstrates that the solution met all three meta-goals with some original goals being met partially. An analysis of the sensitivity of the approach to the weights of the preferences was conducted.

The composites of piroxicam and meloxicam with gamma-alumina, aluminium hydroxides (gibbsite and boehmite), alpha and gamma polymorphs of iron(III) oxide having different surface area and morphology were prepared by planetary ball-milling. It has been shown that the initial state of the excipient (specific surface area, particle size and morphology) had a pronounced effect on the formation of the core-shell composites with the drugs and their properties. The X-ray diffraction patterns and IR spectra measured for co-milled samples as well as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies gave evidence that the components of the mixtures interacted with each other and became amorphous, as composites were formed. The drug release from the composites was different as compared with pure drugs, meloxicam and piroxicam behaving differently that can be explained by formation of strong or weak bonds with the active sites of the carriers. In the case of mechanocomposites, the drugs dissolved quickly due to high surface of organic phase in the core-shell composites. The high-porous carriers can serve as the sorbents for the drugs in solution.

Opis:
The nanocomposites of piroxicam and meloxicam with alumina were obtained by ball-milling as a result of distribution of the drugs at the surface of oxide with formation of the stable composites. The observed changes in the IR spectra of the ball-milled mixtures suggested the interaction of the drugs with the alumina active surface sites. The functional groups in molecules of piroxicam and meloxicam involved into formation of bonds between the drugs and the surface of the oxide were determined, they are amide, sulfate, enol groups, and pyridyl / thiazolyl nitrogen atoms. It appears that the formation of the new bonds at the contacts of particles in the composite leads to the stabilization of the drugs in metastable state inhibiting their transformation into initial crystalline form.

Opis:
The aim of the present numerical study was to analyse the pressure settlement behaviour and bearing capacity of asymmetric plus shaped footing resting on loose sand overlying dense sand at varying embedment depth. The numerical investigation was carried out using ABAQUS software. The effect of depth of embedment, friction angle of upper loose and lower dense sand layer and thickness of upper loose sand on the bearing capacity of the asymmetric plus shaped footing was studied in this investigation. Further, the comparison of the results of the bearing capacity was made between the asymmetric and symmetric plus shaped footing. The results reveal that with increase in depth of embedment, the dimensionless bearing capacity of the footings increased. The highest increase in the dimensionless bearing capacity was observed at embedment ratio of 1.5. The increase in the bearing capacity was 12.62 and 11.40 times with respect to the surface footings F1 and F2 corresponding to a thickness ratio of 1.5. The lowest increase in the dimensionless bearing capacity was observed at embedment ratio of 0.1 and the corresponding increase in the bearing capacity was 1.05 and 1.02 times with respect to the surface footing for footings F1 and F2 at a thickness ratio of 1.5.

Opis:
Mushrooms are a rich source of antioxidants and nutritional values. Edible mushrooms, however, are susceptible to various diseases such as dry bubble, wet bubble, cobweb, bacterial blotches, and mites. Farmers face significant production losses due to these diseases affecting mushrooms. The manual detection of these diseases relies on expertise, knowledge of diseases, and human effort. Therefore, there is a need for computer-aided methods, which serve as optimal substitutes for detecting and segmenting diseases. In this paper, we propose a semantic segmentation approach based on the Random Forest machine learning technique for the detection and segmentation of mushroom diseases. Our focus lies in extracting a combination of different features, including Gabor, Bouda, Kayyali, Gaussian, Canny edge, Roberts, Sobel, Scharr, Prewitt, Median, and Variance. We employ constant mean-variance thresholding and the Pearson correlation coefficient to extract significant features, aiming to enhance computational speed and reduce complexity in training the Random Forest classifier. Our results indicate that semantic segmentation based on Random Forest outperforms other methods such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naïve Bayes, K-means, and Region of Interest in terms of accuracy. Additionally, it exhibits superior precision, recall, and F1 score compared to SVM. It is worth noting that deep learning-based semantic segmentation methods were not considered due to the limited availability of diseased mushroom images.

Opis:
This paper presents the bearing capacity determination of strip footing placed on sand underlain by clay and subjected to inclined loading. The bearing capacity equation is derived within the framework of limit equilibrium by following the projected area approach. The inclinations of load spread were selected by performing an additional finite element analysis. A parametric study was conducted to highlight the effect of various input parameters such as i) the thickness of the top sand layer, ii) embedment depth of footing, iii) the friction angle of sand and cohesion of clay, and iv) inclination of the applied load. The obtained results for a vertically loaded footing are slightly underestimated with that available in the literature. The computed bearing capacity values for a foundation with inclined loading compare favorably for lower inclination angle but slightly overestimates for higher load inclination angle, concerning that obtained using the available formula in the literature.

Study focused on the performance of injection moulded short Wallostonite filler and chopped glass fiber reinforced hybrid epoxy composites. Results showed that hybridization of glass fiber and Wallostonite was found to be comparable to that of epoxy glass fiber composites. Analysis of fiber length distribution in the composite and fracture surface was performed to study fiber breakage fracture mechanism. The simultaneous compounding of epoxy with two fillers was done to obtain a hybrid composite. The mechanical properties of hybrid, injection molded, chopped glass fiber/ Wallostonite/epoxy composites have been investigated by considering the effect of hybridization by these two fillers. This system is expected to have considerable mechanical properties. It has been found that the tensile, flexural, and impact properties of the filled epoxy were higher than those of unfilled epoxy. The hybrid effects of the tensile strength and modulus were studied by the rule of hybrid mixtures (RoHM) using the values of single fiber composites.
