Opis:
Intrusive thoughts are characteristic of psychological disorders; attempts to cope can become maladaptive perpetuating the problem (e.g., thought suppression), while others can provide long-term symptoms relief (e.g., acceptance). Although emerging research begins to explore the neural correlates of these strategies in healthy population, it is important to explore these strategies in populations more likely to naturally attempt to use such strategies (clinical symptoms). The present study explored if the use of cognitive strategies to manage intrusive cognitions would be differentially reflected in psychophysiological measures (i.e., error-related negativity) of individuals characterized by obsessive-compulsive symptoms -a group commonly associated with suppression efforts- relative to a low OC control. 67 participants with high and low OC symptoms were randomly assigned to cognitive strategy (suppression or acceptance). Participants watched an emotion-eliciting video clip and used the assigned cognitive strategy while performing the Stroop task. EEG data was collected. Consistent with well-established and emerging literature, ERN was enhanced in individuals with high OC symptoms and a marginal effect of thought-control strategy was observed, such that ERN amplitude was reduced in the suppression condition and greater for the acceptance condition. Uniquely, the study expanded on emerging literature by exploring whether the relationship between ERN and cognitive strategies was moderated by OC level. Although results were not conclusive, these preliminary findings represent an important first step to study effects of suppression and acceptance on the ERN in a sample characterized by clinically-relevant symptoms and overall encourage further exploration.

Opis:
Background. Just mere brushing of teeth is not enough for maintaining good oral health. Regular cleaning of tongue is equally important for maintaining good oral hygiene and to escape social embarrassment and personal discomfort, which could arise as a result of halitosis. Objective. To test the variables of Theory of Reasoned Action to explain the behavior of tongue cleaning among college going students of Udaipur city, Rajasthan, India. Material and methods. A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted amongst 756 college going students of Udaipur city, India using an online self-administered structured questionnaire which was designed based on our study objectives. Logistic regression analysis and structural equation modelling (SEM) were employed for statistical analysis. Confidence level and level of significance were set at 95% and 5% respectively. Results. Logistic regression analysis showed that with one unit increase in subjective norm, the tongue cleaning behavior odds increased significantly by 1.124. Also, the tongue cleaning behavior odds was 1.77 times significantly greater among those brushing their teeth twice a day than those brushing once a day. Structural Equation modelling also evidenced the significant direct effect of subjective norm on tongue cleaning behavior (β = 0.2, p≤0.05). Conclusion. Our results highlighted the importance of subjective norms in espousing tongue cleaning preventive behaviour habit. It is thus recommended to highpoint the role of significant others in changing tongue cleaning behaviour.

Some 2′,3′,4′-trichlorophenyl chalcones [(E)-1-(2,3,4-trichlorophenyl)-3-(substituted phenyl)-2-propen-1-ones] have been synthesised using sulfated Titania catalyzed solvent-free aldol condensation between 2,3,4-trichloroacetophenone and substituted benzaldehydes. The purities of synthesised chalcones were checked by their analytical, physical and spectroscopic data reported in literature. The insect antifeedant activities of these chalcones have been studied using 4th instar larvae Achoea Janata L by castor leaf disc bio-assay method. The chloro substituted chalcones shows significant insect antifeedant activity.

Opis:
This study, conducted during the pandemic, examined if the occupational situation of parents of children with ASD influenced their parenting role and their children’s participation in therapy. We studied three groups of parents in Poland (n=137): non-employed, stationary workers, and remote workers. We tried to establish how parents assessed their competence in implementing therapy recommendations, their child’s functioning and the need for support using the Parental Stress Scale (PSS) and a questionnaire. Results showed that employment status did not affect perceived parental stress levels. The fulfilment of therapy recommendations was similar in the three groups. However, stationary workers felt more competent doing so. The study groups differed in their assessment of difficulties and expected support.

Opis:
This paper examines the origin, application and efficacy of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) which has been widely used in the United States over the past two-decades as an evidence-based practice to address the behavior support needs of children and youth (Horner and colleagues, 1990). Though the origins of PBIS grew from the desire to provide non-aversive behavior supports to persons with disabilities, the use of these practices evolved into a three-tiered model of delivery aimed at primary, secondary and tertiary prevention and intervention. These practices have been demonstrated to be effective for all students, as research evidence has affirmed. The authors address the application of the PBIS model from a theoretical perspective and explore the practical utility of this methodology within the educational framework of Poland.

An edge geodetic set of a connected graph G of order p ≥ 2 is a set S ⊆ V(G) such that every edge of G is contained in a geodesic joining some pair of vertices in S. The edge geodetic number g1(G) of G is the minimum cardinality of its edge geodetic sets and any edge geodetic set of cardinality g1(G) is a minimum edge geodetic set of G or an edge geodetic basis of G. An edge geodetic set S in a connected graph G is a minimal edge geodetic set if no proper subset of S is an edge geodetic set of G. The upper edge geodetic number g1+(G) of G is the maximum cardinality of a minimal edge geodetic set of G. The upper edge geodetic number of certain classes of graphs are determined. It is shown that for every two integers a and b such that 2 ≤ a ≤ b, there exists a connected graph G with g1(G) = a and g1+(G) = b. For an edge geodetic basis S of G, a subset T ⊆ S is called a forcing subset for S if S is the unique edge geodetic basis containing T. A forcing subset for S of minimum cardinality is a minimum forcing subset of S. The forcing edge geodetic number of S denoted by ƒ1(S), is the cardinality of a minimum forcing subset of S. The forcing edge geodetic number of G, denoted by ƒ1(G), is ƒ1(G) = min{ ƒ1(S)}, where the minimum is taken over all edge geodetic bases S in G. Some general properties satisfied by this concept are studied. The forcing edge geodetic number of certain classes of graphs are determined. It is shown that for every pair a, b of integers with 0 ≤ a < b and b ≥ 2, there exists a connected graph G such thatƒ1(G) = a and g1(G) = b.

For a connected graph G = (V,E), a set W ⊆ V is called a Steiner set of G if every vertex of G is contained in a Steiner W-tree of G. The Steiner number s(G) of G is the minimum cardinality of its Steiner sets and any Steiner set of cardinality s(G) is a minimum Steiner set of G. For a minimum Steiner set W of G, a subset T ⊆ W is called a forcing subset for W if W is the unique minimum Steiner set containing T. A forcing subset for W of minimum cardinality is a minimum forcing subset of W. The forcing Steiner number of W, denoted by fₛ(W), is the cardinality of a minimum forcing subset of W. The forcing Steiner number of G, denoted by fₛ(G), is fₛ(G) = min{fₛ(W)}, where the minimum is taken over all minimum Steiner sets W in G. The geodetic number g(G) and the forcing geodetic number f(G) of a graph G are defined in [2]. It is proved in [6] that there is no relationship between the geodetic number and the Steiner number of a graph so that there is no relationship between the forcing geodetic number and the forcing Steiner number of a graph. We give realization results for various possibilities of these four parameters.
