Opis:
This paper presents a flight safety analysis over the past a dozen or so years. The analysis was mostly conducted on the basis of statistical data recorded by units responsible for flight safety in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. The first part of the paper presents a brief historic outline and basic flight safety-related definitions. It also describes basic elements of flight safety formulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO. It presents theories providing reasons for the occurrence of aviation incidents and1 the role of a human factor in flight safety and at the same time makes known so called James Reason's Model that explains why aviation accidents occur. In addition, it includes a few examples of the occurrence of serious accidents caused by the human factor. It also emphasises the importance of the system of aviation-related events reporting and investigation and the planning of preventive actions to be taken. The paper also stresses the need to change the way of thinking about aviation accident prevention, where the most important questions are not what or who, but why and how. The second part of the paper presents flight safety analysis in the Armed Forces for the previous year.

Opis:
This paper concerns the issue of management and assessment of the aviation training process, which takes into account the elements changing over time: the state of training, its level, quality and mechanisms rationalising the organisational activities and costs. The elements of the complex management system of the aviation training process, which includes probabilistic models for projecting the reliable, safe and effective aviation training, taking into account the requirements imposed by rules, standards and regulations of civil and military aviation, were discussed. In general, its structure, internal modules and exemplary tables of the analysis and assessment of the aviation personnel updates and the validity of permissible breaks during flight by aviation personnel. A schematic diagram of introducing the input data, main parameters, statistical data and expected results in the form of the training schedule, the schedule of the aircraft necessary moving, indicators of the training analysis and assessment, safety and reliability, were mentioned. The mathematical notations of input data and examples of the offered training indicator of aviation personnel were presented. The criterion global function, which exposes the maximisation of the aviation personnel training, as well as the maximisation of the performed flying time of a given type of aircraft, and the minimisation of operating costs of the specific aviation training, was determined. The paper was completed with a conclusion that shows the advantages of the proposed complex management system of the aviation training process.

Opis:
The paper discloses opportunities of how information recorded by on-board recorders of flight parameters can be used for investigation of avionic events. An example of the methodical approach is presented of how to verify data acquired from flight recorders, which unambiguously indicates the feasibility of further investigation and analyses of avionic events that may happen to aircrafts. Subsequently the effect of the engine stall is outlined, which enables analysis of those avionic events when the effect of engine(s) stall took place. The paper discloses two cases of avionic events when engine stall was the underlying reason of problems, i.e. when a helicopter entered a stream of exhaust gases produced by a missile launched by that helicopter and when icing of the intake channel occurred in a turbojet engine installed on a helicopter. Investigations of that type are indispensable due to operation constraints and technical conditions of aircrafts operations, where meeting these conditions is the principal requirements in terms of flight safety. This study confirms that opportunities to use data from on-board recorders of flight parameters to find out what was going on with the aircrafts during avionic events are considerable.

Opis:
Prediction of process stability in milling is usually based on experimental frequency response functions of machine tool and cutting force model. Alternatively, operational modal analysis may be applied for the prediction of a stability diagram. It does not require modal impact test but uses vibration signal acquired during actual cutting to identify modal parameters. Such an approach considers boundary conditions that may be different during cutting. On the other hand synthesis of frequency response function is not feasible due to the lack of scaled modal residues. Thus, in this paper modal mass obtained by means of impact test is used to calculate frequency response functions. Estimation of modal damping and natural frequency is carried out using only acceleration signals measured during flexible workpiece machining.

Opis:
The paper introduces a comparison of methods of stability analysis for the systems of "machine tool - holder -workpiece - tool" with two degrees of freedom. It discusses calculation methods and describes the findings from testing methods for software built on different types of algorithms. It proves that the biggest advantage of the analytical method is the speed of the algorithm while the disadvantage the degree of complexity for the system with a higher number of degrees of freedom. In turn, the higher number of degrees of freedom is easier to render in calculation by the application of the numerical method owing to the universality of the matrix transcription. The downside of the numerical method in comparison to the analytical one is its increased time inefficiency.

Opis:
This paper presents the methodology of measuring the instantaneous cutting forces during vibratory cutting. It is based on elastically supported dynamometer vibrating with the tool during chatter. Acceleration of the dynamometer measured simultaneously allows for evaluation and elimination of inertia forces acting on the oscillating dynamometer. Displacements of the dynamometer and the tool in the feed direction during orthogonal cutting are measured by the contactless inductive sensor. The measurements allow for determination of averaged or instantaneous dynamic cutting force coefficients and their dependence on cutting conditions.
