    Music therapy is a complex process conducive to the improvement of the functioning of the organism subjected to this type of action. It is a multifaceted action including various forms and methods of working with the use of music. In this text I present an analysis of the importance of such activities for the development of children with intellectual disabilities and try to assess the extent to which such activities are used in working with this group of people. The analysis of the ways of performing music therapy in relation to children with intellectual disabilities is illustrated by the results of a diagnostic survey.

    The start of school education is an important and difficult phase in every child’s life. However with each one of them, we have to deal with the individual pace and specificity of development in each sphere, and even so it is difficult to recognize every child as equally mature as a pupil. Both the evaluation of child progress in the education process and the readiness for school education are made through the prism of linguistic proficiency. In the case of child’s hearing loss, especially when it is congenital or acquired at a very early stage, the development of speech and language is delayed. The determinant of this situation is the lack of access to the audible voice of the guardians. In a slightly different situation there are children with hearing impairment, having deaf parents. These people, from their earliest years, develop their sign language skills, which are primary to them. An increasing number of hearing impaired children go to integration classes in public schools. Does this mean that the psychological and pedagogical diagnosis procedure of the aforementioned group of children, including the study of their school maturity, can be considered appropriate?

    Deafblindness is a disability resulting from simultaneous damage to the two major senses of hearing and sight. It causes limitations in various areas of life, e.g. making contact with other people difficult.     Bilingualism is a topic that is most often discussed in the context of raising and working with children. However, the role that bilingualism plays in adulthood and late adulthood is underestimated in the literature. At this stage of life, some people may develop the first symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases, mainly associated with memory and communication disorders. The article briefly introduces the most common causes of dementia symptoms and then discusses bilingualism in several, closely related aspects. The publication contains information on the impact of bilingualism on delaying the symptoms of dementia and triggers of this phenomenon. The creativity of bilinguals and the unique impact of bilingualism on working memory and executive control are addressed.

    The text tackles the issue of stimulation of auditory perception in small children with cerebral palsy.     Relacja z rodzeństwem stanowi najdłuższy związek w życiu człowieka. Fakt wystąpienia choroby czy niepełnosprawności u brata lub siostry może jednak determinować jakość kontaktów pomiędzy rodzeństwem. Niniejszy tekst jest drobnym fragmentem szerszego projektu badawczego, dotyczącego poczucia jakości życia osób z uszkodzonym słuchem oraz ich rodzeństwa. Jako autorki analiz jakościowych, wskazanych w tytule tekstu, wyróżniłyśmy w narracjach badanych obszary (wspólne pola problemowe), istotne dla budowania i podtrzymywania więzi pomiędzy nimi a ich niesłyszącym rodzeństwem. Z pewnością warto uwzględnić je w pracy wychowawczej i terapeutycznej. Obszary te, to: skuteczny sposób komunikacji w rodzinie; stan wiedzy słyszącego rodzeństwa na temat konsekwencji uszkodzenia słuchu brata/siostry; stawianie niesłyszącemu rodzeństwu oczekiwań, adekwatnych do wieku i możliwości, a nie naznaczonych niepełnosprawnością. Wspomaganie wyżej wymienionych obszarów może okazać się pomocne w procesie kształtowania wewnątrzrodzinnych relacji.
    The relationship with siblings is the longest relationship in a person’s life. Fact the occurrence of illness or disability in siblings may determine shape and quality relationship with a brother or sister. The authors listened to the narratives of three young adults who told about their experiences of their relationship with deaf siblings. Including field in educational work, such as: possibility of communication; the knowledge base about deafness brother’s/sister’s; making expectations can aid the process shaping the relationship between siblings.
