The article presents selected issues concerning the modelling of the supply chain in the evaluation of the efficiency of tasks realization. In the process of determination, efficiency of the functioning of the supply chain it is necessary to determine the components of both the effects and expenditures in quantitative terms. It is assumed that the effect resulting from action taken depends on the problem under consideration, for example, the result may be the amount of the profits, savings resulting from implemented solutions or measurable improvement of the quality system, expressed e.g. percentage. While the outlay incurred for the implementation of the action is, in general, the expense of implementing this action. The article pointed out that the assessment of the efficiency can be used to decide on the choice of a decision of the many variants of solutions to the problem. In this respect, important are indicators of the efficiency both the technical, economic, quality, and organizational. In the article were also presented possible approaches to improve the efficiency of the supply chain. In the problems of assessing efficiency of functioning of systems with a complex functional structure such as supply, chains increasingly are applicable algorithms based on the so-called heuristics. Hence, in the article briefly have been characterized also chosen heuristic algorithms – genetic algorithms.

The article presents certain aspects of decision of effective management of supply chains organized for companies. Companies service issues have been identified both in the supply and distribution area. Were defined factors affecting the organization of operating in various spheres of companies. It was pointed out that the basic functions directly related to the core business of companies resulting from the industry, the size and the conditions of competition, e.g. for the production facility, it could be manufacturing process itself, while for the commercial company implementation of marketing strategies and building brand image. The paper also presents the factors affecting the costs and benefits companies interested in outsourcing their logistics providers of comprehensive services. Inter alia the essence of the supply chain functioning, integrated management model of supply chain network including flow of stream of goods and flow of stream of information, objectives of supply chain management, decisions of effective supply chain management concerning on minimizing cost of logistics services and high level of quality of delivery services, performance evaluation measures of processes in the supply chain are presented in the paper.

Were presented factors affecting the efficiency of the functioning of individual links of supply chain. This article presents the issue of designating the number of docks at the transhipment terminals using genetic algorithm. Transhipment terminals refer to cross-docking terminals. The main factor that influences on the number of these docks is the stream of cargo flowing into the given terminal. In order to determine this flow of cargo the mathematical model of the distribution of this flow was developed. This model takes into account constraints like those that e.g. processing capacity at the transhipment terminal cannot be exceeded or demand of recipients must be met. The criterion function in this model determines the minimum cost of the flow of cargo between all objects in the transport network. To designate the optimal stream of cargo flowing into the transport network the genetic algorithm was developed. In this article, the stages of construction of this algorithm were presented. The structure processed by the algorithm, the process of crossover and mutation were described. In the article in order to solve the problem of designating the number of docks at the transhipment terminals the genetic algorithm was developed.

Jakość pracy łańcucha dostaw jest wynikiem jakości pracy jego elementów, w tym magazynów. W artykule przedstawiono próbę ujęcia zagadnień jakościowych pracy magazynu w kategoriach niezawodnościowych. Omówiono zagadnienia oceny pracy magazynów, źródła problemów jakościowych i stosowane rozwiązania zwiększające jakość pracy. Wskazano nadmiarowość techniczną i organizacyjną jako podstawowy środek zwiększania niezawodności realizacji zadań przez magazyny w łańcuchu dostaw i tym samym poprawę jakości świadczonych usług. Autorzy omówili zagadnienia niezawodności łańcucha dostaw i magazynów jako ich podstawowych elementów i zaproponowali podejście do określania niezawodności magazynu oparte o nadmiarowość technologiczną i organizacyjną ustalaną w oparciu o przewidywane spiętrzenia przepływu materiałów. Do tego celu wykorzystano miernik OTIFEF jako podstawę szacowania niezawodności. Zaproponowano konstrukcję tego miernika w oparciu o prawdopodobieństwa poprawnej realizacji różnych aspektów usług logistycznych. Ważnym elementem podejścia proponowanego w artykule jest propozycja technicznych i organizacyjnych wskaźników określających różne aspekty nadmiarowości w funkcji niezawodności magazynu. Przedstawiono przykład szacowania nadmiarowości z wykorzystaniem technicznych i organizacyjnych metod zwiększania efektywności.
The quality of supply chain operation depends on quality of its particular elements, including warehouses. The paper presents an attempt to describe the quality of warehouse operation in terms of dependability. Authors discussed issues related to assessing warehouse operation, quality problems and solutions to increase the quality of work. The technical and organizational redundancy was proposed as a primary factor increasing dependability of warehous operation in supply chain and thereby improving the quality of services. Authors discussed dependability of supply chain and warehouses and have proposed an approach to determination of dependability of warehouse facility based on technological and organisational redundancy related to material flow pile-ups. The approach was founded on OTIFEF index as a base for dependability estimation. Construction of that index basing on probabilities of correct realization of different aspects of logistics service was proposed. An important element of the approach presented in the paper is proposal of technical and organisational indicators defining different aspects of redundancy in aspect of dependability. The example of redundancy assessment in function of technical and organisational methods of increasing warehouse efficiency has been provided.

The article presents an application of queuing theory (mass service) to describe transportation process. It presents the essential concepts of the queuing theory. The process of moving a load unit through the logistics centre was presented. To illustrate the issues an example of five-level, two-input queuing networks was examined.
W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie teorii kolejek (masowej obsługi) do opisu procesu transportowego. W artykule zaprezentowano najistotniejsze pojęcia dotyczące teorii kolejek. Przedstawiono proces przemieszczania jednostki ładunkowej w centrum logistycznym. Dla zilustrowania zagadnienia przeanalizowano przykład dwuwejściowej, pięciostopniowej sieci kolejkowej.

The paper presents an approach to the assessment of the location of facilities in the warehouse logistics network with the efficiency of its operations. Determination of efficiency of complex systems of this type should take into account wide range of issues. The system efficiency results on the one hand from the efficiency of its action and on the other hand from the ability to use available system elements to achieve the objectives. Efficiency is a main criterion to the evaluation of the activity both at the level of the whole system, as well as in its subsystems or components. Most often, it refers to the principle of rational management formulated in two variants: performance (maximization effect) and economical (minimizing effort). The article poses the thesis that based on studies of speed and reliability of execution of tasks it is possible to assess the potential locations of warehouse facilities in the studied logistics network. Were also presented factors affecting the efficiency of the functioning of individual cells of the logistics network. Was pointed to the technical, economic, organizational and reliability aspects affecting the efficiency and reliability of the logistics network in terms of both supply and distribution. It was also presented a modular block diagram of an assessment method for localizing logistics facilities in the logistics network.

Opis:
Points of distribution, sales or service are important elements of the supply chain. These are the final elements which are responsible for proper functioning of the whole cargo distribution process. Proper location of these points in the transport network is essential to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the supply chain. The location of these points is very important also from the consumers point of view. In this paper developed method of points location was present on the example of urban transport network. The developed approach is based on the Vehicle Routing Problem in the multistage distribution systems. The proposed method uses a genetic algorithm. Article also presents a mathematical model of delivery cost as a criterion function. The article presents an example calculations which illustrating the operation of the developed method.

The paper is a result of a research work concerning the development of an environmentally friendly transport system - Project EMITRANSYS. The publication contains the issues of shaping the transport system, where important factor due to the aspect of sustainable development is including the external costs in transport activity. This paper presents a mathematical model of the distribution of the traffic flow in the transport network. The paper presents selected aspects of the problem of multi-variant distribution of the traffic stream on the network transport for defined scenarios for the transport system development. Traffic distribution on the network has been made due to the criterion function – external cost connected with air pollution. The paper presents modal split of traffic ecological flow for chosen scenarios of the development domestic transport system.

Introduction: It is shown in this paper, presented selected aspects of the impact that the distribution of products in a warehouse has on the picking of orders. This problem is particularly important for medium and large warehouses characterized by considerable rotation of goods. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the method of classification of products that were used, on the efficiency of the order picking process. Method: For each classification method, two cases of picking products were considered, one including the impact of the fact that the products can be piled, and the other, that they cannot be piled. Simulation studies were preceded by a sensitivity analysis in order to determine the impact of the criteria on the effectiveness of each of the methods. Results: The best results were obtained after applying the product distribution in the warehouse on the basis of: COI Index or ABC analysis according to the number of units sold. It can be concluded that for large warehouses and for products with low susceptibility to stacking, the method based on COI Index proves to be the most effective. Conclusions: If susceptibility to stacking is irrelevant in the products picking process, for average-size and large-size warehouses it is important to distribute products on the basis of COI Index. This method allows obtaining better results than in the case of free storage places by an average of 28.72%. For products with low susceptibility to stacking, applying COI Index also proves to be the most effective.
Wstęp: W pracy pokazano wybrane aspekty wpływu, jaki ma rozlokowanie produktów w magazynie na proces poboru zamówień. Zagadnienie to jest szczególnie ważne w średnich i dużych magazynach, charakteryzujących się istotną rotacją wyrobów. Celem pracy jest ocenienie wpływu zastosowanej metody klasyfikacji produktu na efektywność procesu poboru zamówień. Metody: Dla każdej metody klasyfikacji wybrano dwie sytuacji poboru zamówienia, w jednej dopuszczalne jest sztaplowanie towarów, w drugiej nie jest. Następnie przeprowadzono symulacje i oceniono je przy pomocy analizy wrażliwości w celu określenie wpływu poszczególnych kryteriów na efektywność każdej z metod. Wyniki: Najlepsze rezultaty w rozlokowaniu produktu w magazynie otrzymano przy oparciu metody na współczynniku COI oraz analizy ABC w stosunku do ilości sprzedanych jednostek produktu. Można wnioskować, że w przypadku dużych magazynów oraz dla produktów o niskiej podatności do sztaplowania, najbardziej efektywną metodą była metoda oparta o współczynnik COI. Wnioski: Przy założeniu, że podatność na sztaplowanie nie jest istotna w procesie poboru towaru, w przypadku magazynów o średniej i dużej powierzchni, istotnym jest oparcie metody rozlokowania produktów na zastosowaniu współczynnika COI. Metoda ta pozwala na uzyskanie lepszych rezultatów średnio o 28, 72% aniżeli dla rozlokowania na zasadzie wolnego miejsca. W przypadku produktów słabo podatnych na sztaplowanie, również zastosowanie metody opartej na współczynnika COI jest bardziej efektywne.

The paper presents a certain approach to solving the problem of warehouse locations based on the application of a genetic algorithm. The main objective is to indicate a location of warehouses from among those that already exist, which are most likely to assure the best value of the adopted criterion function, concurrently meeting recipients’ needs. A formal notation was presented of the mathematical model, allowing for the indispensable data, decisionrelated variables of limitations and the criterion function. The problem is to determine the location of warehouses taking into account minimising costs of transport and storage of forwarded cargo between determined facilities within the network. To allow solving the problem related to warehouse location within the logistics network of a manufacturing enterprise the use of a genetic algorithm was proposed. The structure of the algorithm was adapted to the mathematical model. A genetic algorithm was used to determine the volume of cargo stream flows between particular facilities in the network. To form a genetic algorithm it is advisable to define the chromosome structure, the adaptation function, cross-linking process and mutation. The location problem is solved in such a way that if for any day within the analysed period flows take place from a given warehouse or to a given warehouse, such a logistics facility should constitute an element of the target logistics network. If there are no such flows, no warehouse is necessary in the given location.

The paper presents an approach to the logistics service for companies by warehouse facilities with different configurations in the logistics network. Through the warehouses it is possible to combine internal logistics functions such as ordering, unloading, product receptions, confectioning, order picking. The occurrence of warehouse facilities and suitable strategy also affects the volume of stocks, because they allow for combine reserves and compensates for fluctuations in demand. Optimal control of the amount of inventory reduces the demand for warehouse space and associates storage costs. The appropriate configuration of the warehouse facilities in the logistics network is therefore critical for effective logistics service of manufacturing companies. In such logistics network, individual subsystems are related to each other by different types of relation. From these interconnections result logistic tasks performed by company logistics system. Their implementation is caused both externally and internally, wherein the first considerations arise from the environment, the other from production. External logistic task is the boundary conditions for storage process in manufacturing company. The configuration of storage process determines the execution of internal logistics tasks for the company. The article also presents the logistics network configuration taking into account both direct and indirect services.

In the assumptions, regarding to the transport policy both at the level of country and Europe there is the concept of sustainable development of transport. Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with Poznan University of Technology performs research work concerning the shaping of environmentally friendly transport system – Project EMITRANSYS. In this project, one of the conditions is to reduce exhaust emissions by means of transport. The paper presents the reasons for the testing of the exhaust emissions under Real Driving Emissions testing (RDE). Research potential of Institute of Combustion Engines and Transport at Poznan University of Technology in the area of road testing of passenger and heavy-duty vehicles has been presented in the paper. Example test results have been shown in the aspect of the emission-related classification of vehicles. The major challenge of worldwide emission standards, engine operating parameters in various emissions tests, the test potential under real operating conditions, the view of the analyser for on-road emission testing of vehicles, the test results for road emission of CO, HC and NOx, detailed characteristics of the averaged particle number for the entire test run (vehicles with different mileage and different emission class) for: Euro 4 class and 75,000 km; Euro 4 class and 500,000 km; Euro 5 class and 75,000 km; Euro 5 class and 500,000 km are presented in the paper.

The paper presents selected aspects of the evaluation of the effectiveness and risks of the logistics chain that supports the enterprise. It was assumed that the logistics chain includes all activities associated with the flow of materials from the sourcing of raw materials for sale to the ultimate purchaser of the product and the disposal of used products. It was found that the elements of the supply chain are usually unstable which generates difficulties in determining the appropriate level of the risk of the chain. The paper presents a formal record of risk and performance. There is proposed determination of the effectiveness of individual links of the logistics chain. The task of the logistics chain is to provide goods from producers to the final customers, thereby making available these goods in a place and time suited to the needs and expectations of customers. The movement of goods in the logistics chains is determined by the sequence of interrelated actions. In the logistics chains, many entities are involved to different extents. This determines the spatial distribution of different configuration of individual users of the whole logistics chain. In particular, example of a logistics chain of production company, stages of the procedures for quantitative risk analysis, the problems in the logistics chains, assessment of the risk of the task in the logistics chain, the concept of risk, effectiveness and risk in logistics chains are presented in the paper.

Modelling of transport systems is a complex issue requiring taking into account many factors that allow for the mapping of the real system and thus allowing decision support. In the era of increasingly higher requirements for services, transport also faces the challenges of sustainable development. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research both in the sphere of technical and organizational solutions aimed at limiting pollutant emissions. Mapping in the model the negative impact of transport on the environment allows for planning the implementation of the transport service taking into account the pro-ecological criterion. This is particularly important in urban areas where traffic and especially heavy goods vehicles are particularly onerous for inhabitants and require limiting transport work in the city area and the use of environmentally friendly rolling stock. The aim of the article is to present the considerations regarding the modelling of transport systems including pollutant emissions. The article introduces the problem of cargo distribution and a review of the models of estimation of pollution emission in the micro and macro scale was carried out. Next, a mathematical model was proposed which is a variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem of the so-called Green VRP. In the distribution model was used COPERT methodology for estimation of harmful substance emission. In article examples of calculations carried out on the example of the city of Warsaw for the organization of cargo distribution due to the CO emission criterion was presented. The article ended with a short synthesis of the work carried out.
