The present paper examines the transfer of nomino-adjectival collocations based on the word ‘femme’ (‘woman’) in the literary translation from French into Italian and Polish. The lexical connection analysed in the article can be defined as the habitual juxtaposition of a word with another word (or words) that has a significant frequency in a given language. The research corpus comprises seven Michel Houellebecq’s novels written originally in French and their Italian and Polish versions. The theoretical part of the paper aims to present phraseotranslation and phraseotraductology, which are the new subbranches in phraseology. Then, the empirical part proposes the analysis of techniques used in transferring collocations.

Building on my PhD project, this paper explores fidelity challenges in the transfer of verb-nominal collocations (VNC) in the Italian translations of seven of Michel Houellebecq’s novels. I examine various kinds of infidelity, such as omissions, errors, incongruence in constituent transmission, incoherence in recurrent VNC transmission, and infidelity at the level of phraseological coverage. The accurate transfer of collocations is crucial for preserving the style and the vibrancy of the source text. Errors, omissions, and unjustified transformations in the target language speak to the complexity of the translation process. My analysis explains the multifaceted nature of collocations and contributes to a nuanced understanding of their role in literary translation.
Questa ricerca, basata sui risultati della tesi di dottorato dell’autore, approfondisce le sfide di fedeltà nel trasferimento delle collocazioni verbo-nominali (CVN) nelle traduzioni italiane di sette romanzi di Michel Houellebecq. Esamina vari aspetti dell’infedeltà, come omissioni, errori, incongruenze nella trasmissione dei costituenti, mancanza di coerenza nella trasmissione delle CVN ricorrenti e infedeltà a livello della copertura fraseologica. Il trasferimento delle collocazioni è cruciale per preservare lo stile e la vivacità del testo originale. Gli errori, le omissioni e le trasformazioni ingiustificate nella lingua di destinazione evidenziano la complessità del processo di traduzione. Questa esplorazione spiega la natura sfaccettata delle collocazioni, contribuendo a una comprensione più sfumata del loro ruolo nella traduzione letteraria.

The present paper examines the topic of aliases of criminals, which seems to be understudied in linguistic research. Therefore, this article’s primary goal is to describe how criminals’ aliases are created and what are the differences and similarities in that process in English, French, and Polish. Firstly, the theoretical background concerning the topic of pseudonyms is presented. Then, the corpus gathered for this paper (available online: https://cutt. ly/1TRefrK), consisting of 206 pseudonyms (123 units in English, 42 in French, and 41 in Polish), is analyzed. In the analysis, four schemes are noted to be the most commonly used in creating pseudonyms of criminals. What is more, the inspirations behind the creation of criminals’ pseudonyms are scrutinized, and nine typical inspirations are distinguished. The article constitutes not only a detailed linguistic analysis of a significant number of criminals’ aliases but can also serve as an inspiration for other research on the topic.

The paper aims to discuss phraseological units as the object of audiovisual translation in the Polish dubbing of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, to discuss the role of phraseological translation techniques, and to present possible translation inconsistencies. A theoretical introduction presents definitions for crucial terms. It is followed by the analysis of the corpus of phraseological units in Disney’s The Little Mermaid and their Polish translational equivalents.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie jednostek frazeologicznych jako przedmiotu tłumaczenia w polskim dubbingu Małej Syrenki Disneya, omówienie roli technik tłumaczenia frazeologizmów w tłumaczeniu audiowizualnym oraz przedstawienie możliwych nieścisłości przekładu. Wprowadzenie teoretyczne przedstawia definicje kluczowych terminów. Następnie przedstawiona jest analiza przekładu jednostek frazeologicznych występujących w anglojęzycznej wersji Małej Syrenki Disneya wraz z ich polskim tłumaczeniem.

Opis:
Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette played a significant role in the development of French literature. Her novels vividly depict independent and self-aware women, thereby reflecting the author herself. Colette's works have captured the attention of researchers and have been the subject of numerous studies. In this proposed research, an interdisciplinary approach combining literary and linguistic perspectives is adopted to explore Colette's literature. The objective of this study is to closely examine the portrayal and circumstances of women and girls in Colette's work, specifically focusing on the nomino-adjectival collocations involving the lexemes femme and fille used by the author in her six novels from the “Claudine” series. These novels serve as prime examples of Colette's reclamation of autonomy through her writing. The research will culminate in a literary analysis, contrasting the results obtained through the linguistic methodology with the insights gained from a literary approach.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency of airport processes using simulation tools. A critical review of selected scientific studies relating to the performance of airport processes with respect to reliability, particularly within the apron, has been undertaken. The developed decision-making model evaluates the efficiency of airport processes in terms of minimizing penalties associated with aircraft landing before or after the scheduled landing time. The model takes into account, among other things, aircraft take-offs and landings and separation times between successive aircraft. In order to be able to verify the correctness of the decision-making model, a simulation tool was developed to support decision making in the implementation of airport operations based on a genetic algorithm. A novel development of the structure of a genetic algorithm as well as crossover and mutation operators adapted to the determination of aircraft movement routes on the apron is presented. The developed simulation tool was verified on real input data.

This paper aims to examine the use of inclusive French in the Internet publications of Paris universities on their social media. Three higher education institutions were selected: Paris Dauphine-PSL University, Gustave Eiffel University, and Sorbonne Paris North University. The publications were obtained from Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Firstly, the groups of people to whom the use of inclusive French referred were considered. The second question was about the practices used to make the French language inclusive. Eight practices were observed and are described in the paper. Multi-criteria decision support (MCDM) methods are widely used in many areas of science. This applies to economic, social and technical sciences. Implementing activities at the strategic, tactical or operational level requires appropriate tools to support decision-makers. The use of these tools requires the preparation of a decision model along with the formalization of the goal and the acquisition and preparation of data to make the decision accurate. Due to the wide application of MCDM in engineering practice, the article presents their application in air transport. It is an area that is constantly evolving, and all decisions at the strategic level have long-term effects and must be adequately justified. In the paper a compartmental extension of the classical SAW method with weights obtained using the compartmental Shannon entropy was proposed. This paper presents issues concerning the choice of airport layout and describes the problems that occur in determining the cost and capacity of airports. This paper reviews the literature on airport capacity and operations and airside air transport processes and the application of various multi-criteria decision support methods to airport problems. The main part of the article contains an optimization mathematical model aimed at determining the parameters of the elements comprising the airport, on the basis of which a simulation model was developed and a modified method of multi-criteria evaluation of SAW taking into account the interval numbers was presented, in which the set of weights was estimated by the Shannon entropy method. In the application part for 3 variants of the airport arrangement, the parameters were determined in the form of interval numbers and then evaluated using the presented method. The presented numerical example shows that the proposed method is an excellent tool to assist in solving complex decision problems where the data are imprecise and represented by interval numbers.

The aim of the article was to develop a tool to support the process of planning and managing aircraft (ac) maintenance. Aircraft maintenance management has been presented for scheduled technical inspections resulting from manufacturers’ technical documentation for ac. The authors defined the problem under investigation in the form of a four-phase decisionmaking process taking into account assignment of aircraft to airports and maintenance stations, assignment of crew to maintenance points, setting the schedules, i.e. working days on which aircraft are directed to maintenance facilities. This approach to the planning and management of aircraft maintenance is a new approach, unprecedented in the literature. The authors have developed a mathematical model for aircraft maintenance planning and management in a multi-criteria approach and an optimisation tool based on the operation of a genetic algorithm. To solve the problem, a genetic algorithm was proposed. The individual steps of the algorithm construction were discussed and its effectiveness was verified using real data.
